Nintendo have had a whole range of consoles released in their time, and they are all completely unique and different. Ranging from the retro consoles like the NES and N64 to the Wii and Wii U for Home Consoles and from the Game Boy family to the DS family for handhelds.
Which for you was the best console that gave the best experience, had the best games and was the best overall?

I've got to admit, I haven't really had many of the retro consoles, my oldest being a Game Boy Advanced that I only had about 3 games for, but it was a great handheld for the time. My first Nintendo home console was the Wii and I upgraded to the Wii U two years ago, so haven't had much experience with the older home consoles either.
I had no experience with the 3DS as I thought it wasn't worth it, but as the New 3DS line was release Friday, I went and bought the Zelda bundle on so far, it is far superior to the DS/DSi in many aspects, even if I can't use the 3D all the time. I also like the homage to the older handhelds that the new 3DS models have, with the coloured ABXY buttons and I got the Metallic Blue XL model and the colour, even though slightly darker, reminds me of the N64 blue colour.
The Wii U, I feel is superior to the original Wii and I don't know why it gets such a bad rep. It has a handheld device which can work by itself and without a TV with almost all titles so you don't need a TV to play games and as it is HD, the graphics are great. It's like having a Wii with a DS-like ad on to it. I also like the whole Miiverse thing they have set up. Eventhough a little inappropriate for younger audiences, the teenage and older audience could use it well.
I also think the games are great for the new consoles as they bring a fresh new approach to many franchises.

Therefore, my vote either goes to the 3DS[XL]/New 3DS[XL] or the Wii U as they are what I have mainly experienced. I think my vote will go to the 3DS, however, as it was a real innovative risk and with the new consoles approach with the corrective 'super stable 3D' think they have fixed many issues.

Ho boy...so many choices...

If I had to pick, it would be a tie between the SNES and the N64

I've only ever owned Nintendo handheld consoles, although I have shared houses with people who've had a Wii. My favourite is hands down the Game Boy Colour, the console which introduced me to it all. Much to my dismay, I can't currently locate my original one, which was of great sadness to me when I decided to replay Pokémon Yellow about two months ago.

Personally I loved the Nintendo 64. The graphics aren't the best and it tends to freeze up a lot, but my N64 is the best thing ever. It really helped me connect with my family as a kid, playing Pokemon Stadium, Smash Bros, Mario Party, and so many more! It holds sentimental value that I can never let go of.

I've had all of these with the exception of a Wii U (and I had either a NES or an SNES, not sure which), but I'm torn between the DS/DSi and 3DS/2DS. I have no recollection of playing the NES/SNES and Original Gameboy...but I do remember all of the other fondly. I still have my GBC and N64! While my TV reciver for the N64 snapped off a few months ago, I used to pick it up to play the mini games on Stadium and Stadium 2 and I bought a Transfer Pak to play Gold on. GameCube is long gone, but I used to play Colosseum, XD, and Smash Bros on it for hours at a time, even plugging in my Gameboy Advanced and playing Gen III games. Wii is broken, but I played Battle Revolution on it all the time (I really miss that game ;^;).

But as I said, I'm mostly torn between the DS systems. I have a ton of fond memories with my DS, but the 3DS/2DS is so much better and, of course, the DS/DSi can't play Pokemon X and Y! ;D /halfserious So I chose the 3DS/2DS. 2DS is also really comfy to hold and is probably my favorite system of them all.

I really like the GBA SP. The backlit screen was awesome at the time. :D Plus it was comfy and you could pretty much play with one hand, unlike the GBA. N64 was great because of the multiplayer aspects and I have lots of nice memories of that. I also really like the DS Lite, the rounded corners and compact size are nice and there were a lot of good games for it.

It's really hard to pick just one. xD But I probably love the Nintendo64 most, following by GBA SP then DS Lite.

Hmm. 3DS. It's like a mini laptop, and I can go online quicker! Have a camera for picture convenience and many digital "apps" like an iPad. I never leave home without my system!

While I did like N64 back in the day, I think my all time favorite has to be the 3DS.

Why? Well, because I'm legally blind (20/200 vision uncorrectable). The 3DS XL is so far the only hand-held system that I can see to play without crazy huge magnifying glasses. I still have to strain to read certain text at times, and I have to hold it about 2 inches from my face... XD But for the most part I can enjoy a game comfortably. That thing is kinda heavy, though. Gotten more than a few hand cramps. XP

Anyway, aside from that, it's also a system with some pretty great games. I've enjoyed most titles I've purchased for it so far. :)

GameCube, mostly for the nostalgic value. <3

But my 3DS has served me very well.

My favorite console is the Super Nintendo. The NES may have been the new beginning after the crash, the console that established gaming as we now know it, but the Super Nintendo is where modern standards started to be established. Instead of making things as difficult as possible to extend the length, it was all about seeing how much you could do, how much more impressive you could make everything. Take Metroid, for instance, in the original game, it was nearly impossible to complete without a map of some form. You were just expected to spend your time shooting every available block, so there's no reason you should miss that stupid Varia Suit, and then have to spend even longer just to FIND THE HIGH JUMP- What was I saying? Er, right, improvement. Metroid II definitely upped the standard for the series, which is strange when you consider how few played it, but Super Metroid is where the series really got its identity. Its world was bigger, more immersive, more interesting, more deadly, more fair, more... Well, more everything. Games like A Link to The Past, Super Mario World, and Super Castlevania IV are where the games' formulas and worlds were really established, not to mention some of the best those series have to offer. It was a strange and exciting time, and dear god, if the RPGs weren't fantastic back then, I don't know when they were.

My favorite would be the Gameboy Advance. I used to own the original version, you know the side ways one. Nostalgic memories in Emerald would make the Gameboy Advance a hands down choice.

Tough choice, but I think the console I played the most was the N64. Many, many great games on that one. Oh Goldeneye, what a game that was.

Star Fox 64, Smash Bros, and LoZ Ocarina of Time were definitely awesome also.

I voted for the NDS/NDSI as my favorite Nintendo Console. It's mostly due to the amount of time i spent on it. The good old days when I didn't have to worry about college work or work as a whole.
