What songs really hit home for you. By hit home I mean songs that speak to that inner part of you.

That, I have to say, was really well done. Thanks for sharing that!
As for me, I was searching for Halloween music for a party, and I came across a song and a music video that touched me in a surreal, profound way (not really Halloween-related save for the title):
Boards of Canada - Reach for the Dead (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2jTg-q6Drt0)
While watching the video and listening to the track, I was swept up in contemplative thoughts about life, death, God, the journey of the spirit, and where humanity is heading as a whole. The video itself is mainly footage of abandoned buildings, deserts, and nature, but when paired with the music, it has a very different and transcendental effect. It may sound a little crazy, but give it a watch and a listen, maybe you'll have a similar reaction. Few songs have been able to touch me spiritually like the way this one does.

First off thanks for sharing. Whats interesting about that video the cycle of life. normally focusing on abandoned places would kind of make you feel bleak, empty or maybe even loss, but the editor is quick to change focus sometimes aggressively to show that beyond the decay.
I liked it.
Alright, you can tell me if I did this wrong, but basically, I'll just move on with my song then.
Irony [Sung by Lizz, English Piano Version] (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pa3jyGj9NxI)
Eh, I actually don't think I can really say much. The reason it really has touched me is that I have suffered through depression for a good amount of my life (around 4 years?), and it actually talks about a lot of symptoms I went through and still go through nowadays. Also, Lizz is a truly beautiful singer, so I'm glad that she made this cover.

LD, I really like that song. Like, I REALLY like it. I liked everyone elses songs too though.
I don't expect anyone to listen to the whole 20 minute song, so I'm going to link this so it starts at the part that shows the theme of the song the best. Overall I just love the song, and lyrically it's perfect IMO. It's called A Change of Seasons.

There's a bit of a story to it, but really the song is just about making the best of every day because life won't last forever.

Eh there are a few songs that resonate deeply with me but if I had to pick one...
Jackson Browne - Late For The Sky (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yjx4l5KFSrU)
I first heard it in Taxi Driver and it pretty much encapsulates the loneliness and hopelessness of the main character. We all go through those emotions though so you don't have to watch the movie in order to enjoy this wonderful song.

Always liked that song. I had this in my head all yesterday after watching that video. It was pretty amazing. :O The video was great too. Definitely a different way to look at the song.
I enjoyed listening to all the songs being shared :)
I really love Flight of the Crow by Passenger (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjGPzlZDLlY) (and many of his other songs). Just seems to speak to me, somehow.

By hitting home, I tend to see that as more songs that have lyrics that stand out, even though they might not necessarily be relevant. I mean with lyrics, sure they can be good, but some songs, the lyrics are just beautiful.
My first is Paperthin Hymn by Anberlin
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Hl_NBTMELo
The lyrics in this song are poetic and honestly beautiful. It was written after the death of a band members sister at a young age due to cancer. Some of the lyrics that reference this:
'I just want one more chance, to put my arms in fragile hands'
'One sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion.'
'I thought you said forever over and over'
'These thoughts run through my head over and over.'
'August evenings
Bring solemn warnings
To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight
You never know what temporal days may bring
Laugh, love, live free and sing
When life is in discord
Praise ye the lord'
Another one is Lonely Girl by Tonight Alive (Australians for the win. Don't compare them Paramore. Paramore suck compared to these guys)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yrkfkwzChoM
This speaks to me because I know the 'Lonely Girl'. People change. A girl who used to be my best friend, I struggle not to despise. She tried to fit in with a group that were a bad influence, and in a year or so completely screwed herself up doing so. Now she is heavily involved in alcohol and drugs, and ruined a relationship with a good guy by cheating on him more times than I would have tolerated. Worst part is that all this stuff that has gone wrong, she refuses to believe is her fault, and always tries to shift the blame onto other. I remember when she first started trying to become friends with these people I warned her against it, but she refused to listen. I stopped trying to convince her and left her with this. 'I have warned you about this. If you keep this up, and the s*** hits the fan, don't expect me to help you clean up the mess'. This hits home because I knew a Lonely Girl.

Amelia- Tonight Alive is a tribute song to a friend of the lead singers, who passed away as a teenager. This hits home because back when I was in school, there was a student who had been in my classes who passed away of cancer just before her sixteenth birthday. This especially hits home because at one point a few years before her health deteriorated, she tried to be friends with me and I rejected her. I was bullied a lot at school, and had major trust issues. I had people pretend to be my friend only to stab me in the back later, and because of this, if anyone was friendly to me without me doing anything to deserve it, especially girls, I wouldn't trust them and would avoid them. This happened, and when her health deteriorated was when I finally started to trust people a bit more. However I felt bad I never gave her a chance and didn't speak to her at all during this time. By the time I actually worked up the courage to speak to her, I was a few hours too late. That is something I am not sure I will ever forgive myself for.

There isn't anything specific about this song that stands out. It is an all around awesome song. I like how it is taken froma place of being ready to give up but finding reason to keep going.
