There have been many, many important dates in history. But how much do you remember? I what to see how much our community remembers from their lifetime. Meaning we don't remember the assassination of JFK or Martian Luther King Jr. because we weren't alive then. I will keep a list of what we can remember.

2001: September 11, World Trade Center bombing.

I was little. And when I say "little," I mean I was in class in the second grade. I didn't understand exactly what was going on, and I especially did not understand the degree of what was happening. I also remember a few days after when the troops invaded the east or something.

2005: August 23, Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans

I didn't really understand the degree of what happened. However, it did disappoint me because just a few years prior we had actually went to that part of New Orleans for a vacation. No, the vacation was a cruise to Mexico, actually...that's just where the boat was docked.

2006: October 27, the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series.

Didn't fully understand, but we were at my grandparents' house when I saw the winning game.

2007: April 16, Virginia Tech shooting.

I was at a point in my life where I still didn't understand these things. I remember having to do an assignment in my English class about a current event that had happened in the past week or so. I saw President Bush on TV and my parents were all like, "There. Write about the Virginia Tech Shooting."
*shrugs* I think I did, but I didn't understand.

2008: November 4, Obama became president.

Didn't affect me so much. I was a freshman in high school.

2009: June 25, Michael Jackson died.

I remember hearing about this right before my TaeKwonDo class started that night. And thereafter, I heard a lot about it on the news. He overdosed. It was an unfortunate death but it was a mistake. Oh no, wait, it was his doctor's fault. The media is so indecisive....

2010: January 12, Haiti was struck by a severe earthquake

Nothing really striking about this except that it was unfortunate and I heard quite a bit about it in the news.

2011: May 22, Joplin Tornado.

I remember hearing about this on the news for the next several weeks. It's not too far--about an hour or two--from where I live, so yeah.

November 16, Internet blacks out in protest to SOPA and PIPA bills

Heard about this on the news, did a lot of research on it that day. Also this was around the time Megaupload was shut down. That rose a big stink, too....

April 7, Tohoku Earthquake devastated Japan

I remember this especially clearly because it was the same weekend as Kawa-Kon. I think it was on Saturday or Friday night on our way home when my parents mentioned it. Then there was a big hoax about the creator of Pokemon dying in the earthquake or something. Oh, and apparently it devastated a nuclear plant around there and everything within range.

October 28, the St. Louis Cardinals won the World Series.

Oh boy...the year of the "Rally Squirrel." Oh my god, they wouldn't SHUT UP about it. Like, "HEY, the mascot is a Cardinal. NOT. A. SQUIRREL. But anyways I was helping out with Trick-Or-Treat Night at my high school when someone dressed in a Rally Squirrel costume came running down the hall with some other people yelling that the Cardinals won. Huzzah

2012: November 6, President Obama was reelected.

I never knew what to think of Obama but I sure as hell didn't want Romney taking over our god-forsaken country. Also, this was the very first time I had voted. Like, ever.

December 14, Sandy Hook shooting.

This. Was. Downright despicable. Horrible. Horrifying. Disgusting. Prettttyy sure I'm at a point in my life in which I completely comprehended what was going on. I think I had come home from work or something because I was sick. I watched this unfold on the news...and read the articles online that soon followed. I can't. I just can't.

December 21, the fabled end of days.

What a joke. But this was the day that I got my tonsillectomy. Recovery was not fun.

2014: August 9, Michael Brown was shot and killed.

And all of the shenanigans that followed...ugh. It's all a bunch of bull****. He was defending himself, for god's sake why are you imbeciles protesting and arguing and looting and starting fires and throwing **** when that's what ALL of the evidence CLEARLY shows? Hmm?

There's more up there. I know there is....There's more memories rattling around my brain. Somewhere. Also, wow: so much happened in 2011. :o

Ohh, and the Boston Marathon bombing on April 15, 2013. It's a relief that it could have turned out a lot worse. Pressure cookers, though...really? How desperate.

For those who may not know today 4/20 is the 16th anniversary of the Columbine High School shooting and boy do I remember that all over the news for a good while.

Ok, just to clarify, my memory is shot. I can only remember snippets of my own past and I can barely remember what I ate for dinner tonight. So what I'm about to spill out is not what I remember happening, but what I remember being told happened and my reaction to it. The reactions may sound a bit sad because of my terrible memory. You have been warned.

May 2, 2011- Osama Bin Laden is killed
About ten years after 9/11, we finally take down one of the major people behind the crime. I remember my history teacher telling us about this and at first thinking, who is that? And then flashes of the news program from 9/11. At the time I didn't fully comprehend the magnitude of the situation but now I do and that was such a great right of vengeance.

December 2014- Saudi Arabia Oil War with Russia

This wasn't a big big deal to many people but for those of us in the Model UN club at my school, this was hilarious. Pretty much Russia got into the oil game and bought off many of Saudi Arabia's big oil consumers. Needless to say, the country was pissed so what did they do? They poured so much oil onto the market that Russia couldn't make a profit. No one could. But since Saudi Arabia is rich they didn't care. Remember when gas prices got really low? This was why.

April 20, 2008
Danica Patrick became the first woman to win an Indy race (car races for those who don't know). Being big on car races myself, I can remember my mom explaining this to me and being so excited as a 10 year old.

April 20, 2010
BP oil rig explosion causing the biggest accidental oil spill in history. Don't remember much about this except that all of the BPs in my area were soon replaced with Marathons and that my parents were upset because Marathon cost more.

Noblejanobii Don't feel bad my memory is pretty sucky too...lol. Though I usually look everything up so I can add a link to things for others to read if they'd like.

Lol well if I remember anything else I'll be sure to let you know.

While these next three aren't necessarily monumental I remember these next three dates only because it's what's started what I call the "Nightmare Stream." Pretty much I get severe nightmares any time I get introduced to these games or watch the let's plays at night. But I digress…
August 8, 2014- Five Night's at Freddy's comes out
Wasn't very interested in the series at the time. Wrote it off as a boring overrated horror game. Oh how wrong I was.
November 10, 2014- Five Nights at Freddy's 2 came out
This was when I started to look into the series. My friends both online and IRL wouldn't shut up about this game. At the time I was confused because it had seemed really stupid. This resulted in a dare that's a discussion for another time but needless to say, I became hooked not on the game itself but rather the lore behind it. I'd become a fan that was looking for history not a good horror game.
March 2, 2014- Five Nights at Freddy's 3 came out
Thus began the nightmare stream. I had literally just gotten over the stream from the second one when this came out and it pretty much screwed me over but watching Markiplier's Let's Plays was totally worth it because the game was pretty unique to the franchise to say the least.
