Do you want me to tell you a story? It is a story about my journey in search for Mercedes. Who is that, you ask? Well, let me start from the beginning.
Deep in the mythical forests of Pericunatu, there live the Yggdra. They are a race of humanoid like flowers. Their bodies could be light green, darker green or pale. Their hair was often dark green, turquoise, red or yellow. Females had one to five large flowers growing out of their head. Males didn’t have any flowers. The Yggdra don’t posses any magical powers like the long forgotten elves. They did however posses the power of nature. There were many different kinds of Yggdra but they were all united by their queen. Her name was Isandra and she was one of the wisest and strongest of them all.
Isandra had one young and beautiful daughter named Mercedes. She wasn’t really interested in following up her mother. Instead she wanted to travel to the outside world and see the world. However much she wanted to, it was strictly forbidden. No Yggdra who ever left the forest came back. Nobody knows what happened to them. Me? I am Alistar. I was the guardian of the princess ever since she was just a seedling. Guarding her has been a real honor but no easy task whatsoever. Ever since she was small she tried running away and exploring the forest. I had the task to keep her safe and protect her from danger. I couldn’t do that if I lost her out of my sight. And that happened pretty often. She really was a sneaky girl. She soon became a beautiful young Yggdra with flowing light blue hair and two deep red flowers on her head. Even though she was expected to follow up her mother, she just kept running away from her duties as a princess. Even as a young adult she still wanted to travel. I did a good job protecting her back then. But then something happened.
One day the queen called me to her room. I didn’t know what was going on back then. She did seem really worried when I walked in. “Ah, you’re here.” The queen said and she walked closer. “My daughter is gone. She left this note on her desk.” I was confused. I just took the note and started to read it.
My dear mother,
Please forgive me. I really don’t feel like I belong here. I can’t stand being stuck in this forest so I left to see the world. I promise I will come back. You really don’t have to worry about me.
Your daughter, Mercedes
I was shocked. How could I have let this happen? I dropped the note and stared at the queen. “Alistar, please bring her back, you are the only person I can ask.” I didn’t hesitate. I knew why she asked me. If word got out the princess was gone there would be chaos. “Yes, my queen. I will leave right away.” I bowed and turned around to leave the room. Before I could the queen called out to me. “Please, be careful and come back safe.” I just nodded and left.
I quickly went home to prepare for the journey. I didn’t know how long he would be gone. I didn’t even know if he would ever get back. My wife was worried about me. “Please come back home safely. I don’t want anything to happen to you.” I smiled at her and tried reassuring her. “Don’t worry, I will and I will bring the princess back with me.” She nodded and handed me a bag. “I made some food for during your journey, just in case. Take care.” I took the bag from her. “Goodbye Rosenna. Don’t worry too much about me.” I gave her a hug and left on the journey.
Maybe it was because she left in a hurry or because he was used to looking for her, but I managed to follow her tracks easily. I managed to travel for days without any problems. The only question was, when would I manage to catch up to her?
After 4 days, I reached the end of the forest. In front of me were grassy plains. It was the first time I have been this close to the edge. I was truly amazed at the sight. I looked back one more time before heading into the plains.
I didn’t know how dangerous it was there though. From the high grass a pair of eyes was following me. I never noticed it. When I walked closer a big monster suddenly jumped out and attacked me. It had sharp claws and the body of a canine. A long, curled up tail and the head and wings of a bat. It really was a scary fight. I grabbed the monster and wrestled it to the ground. I used my powers to tie the monster up with the grasses around me. The beast couldn’t escape anymore now. I took my bag and traveled further.
The plains sure were dangerous. I was surprised that the princess managed to get this far. Maybe she got lucky. I had to fight a few more of those monsters but they weren't that strong. By the evening I reached something that I only could assume to be a desert. There was no grass anymore, only sand. The air was dry too. Did the princess really go to a place like this? We plants wouldn't survive here for a day. I decided to rest at the edge of it for the night.
The next day I woke up pretty early. If what I heard about the desert was true it would be scorching hot in there during the day and you dry out really fast too. I did bring a lot of water with me but I had no idea if it would be enough. I steeled myself and started walking.
Don't ask me how I did it. I somehow managed to get through the desert. There really was no soul to be seen and I thought I would die back there. I guess I got lucky finding that lake in the desert. I managed to get hydrated and fill my empty water sacks. I almost ended in a sandstorm too. It really was scary.
I managed to get out but then I ended in what seemed to be a swamp. I lost trace of were the princess went to. Couldn't it get any worse? Maybe she was still in the desert, alone and lost. Maybe she did manage to get out but did she end up somewhere else. I didn't know what to do now. I sat down for a bit to rest.
It was not long after that I heard it. A scream from the distance. I recognized it immediately. “Princess!!!” I started running towards the direction were the scream came from. I was praying that she would be ok.
I was too late. When I got there, there were traces of a fight. The creature that attacked her was nowhere to be seen and the princess was long gone too. The only thing I could bring back with me was one red flower.
