My laptop has been getting slower and slower... I want to get a new one that I can play games on soon. So I thought I would ask you guys what kind of computers you have!

I have an early 2011 Macbook pro that I have been borrowing from my stepdad for the last year. I plan on getting myself a new one and spending quite a bit on it when I get a job. Horrible for gaming but decent for most other things, which I am happy about. Couldn't go back to windows now. I just couldn't.

I like the idea of Macs, but I have tried one and found it really confusing xD Even just figuring out where the mouse buttons were! I guess it's something you would get used to though. I feel like it's probably less of an issue these days but do you still find software incompatibilities to be a problem with Macs?

Only with gaming. I use firefox, skype, spotify, office, iTunes, VLC, BitTorrent and other generic programs and they all work fine. Only issue is with games. But it still plays minecraft, Civilization V and Goat Simulator so I don't mind. And I prefer iMovie over windows movie maker and such.

My current laptop is dead now. So I've only had access to the Internet with my iPhone. Last night however I just ordered my new laptop. Fangbook III, Windows 8.1, 16gb RAM - 2133RPM, NVIDIA 970M, Solid State HD 258GB, 1TB Secondary HD. I set it out to be a good gaming laptop this time. Only thing I'm worried about is transferring everything from my old one to my new one. Since it may have a virus. Reeeeeeally don't want to transfer a virus to my brand new laptop lol.
Don't really know about specs? Neither did I! Luckily had a friend help me on skype and explain what would be better since I did custom build it on cyberpower.

I have some sort of Toshiba laptop. It's getting older too though so I'm thinking about getting a new one in the nearish future. Honestly, don't even know what kind of laptop it is, but I think it was a gaming laptop (an older one though, so modern games can't be run full settings </3). Either way, I really like it. My dad has a Toshiba laptop too and always buys Toshiba. They make some really good laptops, honestly. Much better than my last laptop which was an HP (HP laptops aren't good compared to others, don't go HP for laptops). My last laptop got an update from HP for HP products which bricked the CD drive and audio. D':

A few months ago I got an HP gaming computer. It's got a 4 Ghz quad core processor and a good Nvidia graphics card (Forget the exact model).Love how HP let's you customize the computer. I only gave it 8 GB of Ram figuring it would be better to put more money into the processor and just upgrade the ram later if needed. I was even able to get windows 7 and avoid the nightmare that is windows 8. I have two two terrabyte hard drives, which is really more than I'll ever need, I really just got the second hard drive to make backups, and I can't imagine that I'll ever hit a point that those two terrabytes in the main hard drive won't be enough.

When I transferred to my new uni, it became VERY clear that my old laptop wouldn't survive Photoshop... or Maya. (I had used a Desktop mainly prior- never /needed/ a laptop before).
So I got a new computer! It's an Asus with Windows 8 (which isn't nearly as bad as I thought it'd be!)
- Quad Core Processor! (Intel i7)
- 24 GB Ram (wanted 32, but store didn't have the 16GB sticks at the time- I plan on upgrading later if it ever becomes necessary)
- NVIDIA Geforce GTX 860m Graphics Card
- SSD Drive in addition to a hard drive
- CD slot (this seems to be dying in laptops- I really wanted one)
Yes, it's a gaming computer- but it's really for my major! I swear! ='D Maya can kill computers. So can After Effects. I run both at the same time cause I'm crazy. Sometimes with Skype, Firefox, and PS open too.
I'm still trying to find out how to turn on the second fan on this thing. xD

I have a Macintosh but without looking at it I can't tell you everything about it. All I know is, it's from 2008 and it was once my mom's boss's computer, but he gave it to my mom, and she gave it to me. It's got like about 20 different Adobe programs and Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. It's actually a very nice computer and it runs pretty quickly. The only downside is, I think it's too old to use live stream to stream because I can close all the open apps and still use 100% CPU. Either way, I just have to have my mom tweak with the computer every once in while and it runs faster than my mom's Macintosh.

Well, here's my fluff:
CPU: Intel Core i7-990X 3.46 GHz
RAM: 12GB
VIDEO: 2x NVIDA GeForce GTX 550
DRIVES: #1 128GB SSD. #2 500GB
Unfortunately, it's starting to show it's age when it comes to some of the newer games. It plays MOST things pretty well, but occasionally it hits a few snags. Metro: Last Light was one game it absolutely couldn't handle at all and I ended up having to uninstall it.
The mouse and keyboard used to be Razer before I swapped them for Logitech ones. The keyboard was HORRIBLE. It's firmware was so bad it was giving me blue screens of death. And the mouse was glitchy and didn't work have the time. Hate to say it, but Razer stuff may look cool, but it doesn't do was it's supposed to do.

I have a Gateway that I picked up at Walmart on the state tax free weekend a few years back. (Side note that computers aren't tax free in this state, but apparently Walmart was doing them tax free that year. xD) Not sure about all the details on it, but it's done me pretty well for the most part. Gave me a bit of a blue screen issue in 2013, but that was because of my graphics card being outdated I think; it stopped doing it and hasn't done it since after I updated it. The battery on it is also shot, and I need a new one, but it works fine if I leave it plugged in. It could be worse, but it works fine so I'm not too fussy.
I think my next computer is going to be a Macbook since I apparently need one for my school's graphic design program. n_n That's a way's down the road though, so I'm not too worried about it right now.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad, which is actually a really good laptop for the price it was. Three years later, about a week ago, it finally happened. My hard drive borked out. So, I've been working on replacing it with a larger, faster drive and getting all my stuff moved over to it. It was fun at first, but now I just want it fixed already. Windows is being a pain to install.

I built my computer. So I can't really give a brand. But I have an Acer laptop!

Wow there are some beasts in here :D
I just got a new laptop. Bought it second hand from eBay!
It is a Clevo! With...
16GB RAM
i7-4710MQ
Nvidia GTX 970M 6GB
250GB SSD
1920x1080 resolution
I think I got a really good deal on it. It's only a few months old and still under warranty. :D My friend was formatting it for me last night, so I get to try it out later today, wheee! I can finally play Age of Empires 2 without lagging. xD

Wow, that seems really good for a laptop! Like, it could actually run games and stuff. Hell, if I'm reading everything right, it seems comparable in specs to my gaming desktop.

Yeah, it's a gaming laptop brand! I tried it out with portal 2 the other day and it was running brilliantly. I think its supposed to be able to play the newest games, but probably not on max settings. I'm really happy with it so far. It's awesome being able to start it up quickly and stuff opens quickly. My old laptop is so bad compared, I had no idea xD

Oh no, with specs like that it should run newer games at max just fine. Mine are pretty similar and I can run games like FF14 at max settings and run 80-120+. I high populated areas in mmos it's expected to drop and hits around 40. In places where it matters though like dungeons there's no issues. It should be able to run games like MGS V at max from what I've seen.
(It's issues like this I hate about buying new computers for). So many pains (seriously I must have the worst luck with computers).
Once I get my laptop back from repairs I'll be able to test that. I just hope this time they actually fixed it and got it to work right. Why they didn't make it right in the first place is beyond me. The part that's got me kinda....well displeased to put it lightly. I asked them what they did to fix the issue after they sent me a tracking number (I did even mention I already received a tracking number in the email) and all I get back is s message saying "your RMA has been complete. Youcomputer has been sent to you. Here is your tracking number." The fact they avoided my question really worries me. Even after replaying I never received anything back in response (not counting the weekend) it's been 3 days time since when it took a day to receive the first status update.
EDIT: Got it back now and the issue is still there. So I'm gonna be returning this defected computer. No since in having a computer that is brand new and parts don't work. Especially when it gets back from a repair from the company and is still present.

Oh cool, well I hope it can run lots of things. So far it's been really good!
That sucks that they sent you a defective laptop and then didn't even fix it properly... I hope you're able to get it all sorted out! Sounds really frustrating! :/

I'm still trying to dispute the process because they have a policy in returns that they don't pay for shipping back to them. Making me have to spend $65 on a product I barely got to use and didn't work properly. It sucks, but thanks and hopefully it will all work out soon.
Gotta find a replacement now...another long boring process.
