View Full Version : The Last Poster Wins! [v17]

Welcome, one and all, to a fun little game called the Last Poster Wins.
It's quite simple; if you post, you got 48 hours to hope nobody else posts in this thread, and if nobody posts, you win! If somebody posts during that 48-hour time, then the clock is reset.
It's simple, it's fun, and it may or may not take a long time. We'll all find out.

There's not much I can do without my laptop (which should arrive this Wednesday finally!). Luckily my mobile is still holding up. I'll be distracted once more after it gets here and I get everything installed again. From Pkmn TCGO to a few other mmos.

Yeah, I got kind of addicted to the Pokemon TCGO also. It's fun, seems to run pretty well, and saves you a TON of money by allowing you to play with the cards without paying heaploads of money for them. The only drawback with that is you can't get the individual cards that you need, which is something I do a lot with my Magic: The Gathering decks.
Also, Fairy decks in that game are kickass. I made one and usually it does pretty well, except on those exceptionally unlucky hands, but every deck can run into that every now and then.

I tried to make Psychic deck since I have an daily objective for it and won't go away lol. Though I lack the needed cards to make an effective deck. I've got a few that could work, but I'll work on it more on my laptop later when it gets here.

Yeah, I'm still missing cards I need also. I only have one Eevee! That's a heck of a pain in the neck when I have heaps of all the Eeveelutions but just one blasted Eevee.
Also, definitely need more double colorless energy.
Chakramaster
08-09-2015, 06:22 AM
I ended up getting 3 Eevee with the Enchanted Echo (I think that's the deck name) starter deck. Luckily it's one of those special Eevee with an evolution ability that can evolve to that type of which energy card you place on it. So it gets Sylveon or Leafeon out pretty quick at least.
Yeah I've only got one double colorless energy card myself. Then again I think I could use more EX Zpokemon as well to try and build a deck with. Latios EX is good, but still very little Psychic energy cards and Pokemon masked that difficult. Same goes for Excadrill EX. Not enough energy or Pokemon for its type to even warrant putting it in a deck yet.

Altering the topic to real life cards, am I the only one that didn't like how tournaments only accepted decks with cards from the past year or two? At least, I believe when HG/SS came out the oldest cards that were allowed were from Mysterious Treasures, which is the SECOND D/P/Pt set. That's not many sets, and I feel like you have to get a booster pack every week in order to make a decent deck at that rate.
Neo Emolga
08-09-2015, 10:01 PM
Yeah, I'm not too crazy about that. That pretty much forces people to buy all the new cards, which hints at a money-making scheme.
I used to buy the physical cards, but now I just stick with the TCGO.

I never really got into battling with the cards, I just collect them. The plan is to make the pokedex out of Cards, but the binders just aren't big enough to hold them all anymore. Anyone got any special collectable cards?
Chakramaster
08-10-2015, 01:32 AM
I've still got a few plastic bins filled with old gen 1-2 cards and the collectable cards (with the puzzle pieces/pictures on the back). I don't collect the cards anymore. I actually switched from Pokemon to YuGiOh back when it first came out. Most tournament I went to for that were strict in the same way at times. There was one where we could only use cards from certain packs alone. I loved how they gave us a pack for entry and then per round we won though.

Yeah, I've been mainly getting Magic: the Gathering cards. I have a coworker that's heavily into it, and he got me back into playing MTG.
The only thing I don't like too much about the Pokemon TCG is its tendency to be very luck-based. I've seen way too many games have an outcome that was greatly affected simply by the coin-flipping.

Ah Birthdays. I don't have to worry about any of those for the next 2 months luckily. Hard to find good gifts lately.
It's been pretty busy here as well. Trying to redownload and set up everything on my new laptop. Loving it so far for most games. Some reason one game is set to run off of internal graphics and doesn't have an in-game options to select a graphics driver instead. So I gotta find a way around that is all.

It may have to do with the fact a lot of hype is building around PSMD right now. So people want to get the latest version before it releases to see what the games are all about. That or the reviews were so bad on it and fan feedback that they don't feel the need to restock those. I don't care about those reviews though I still found it pretty good and worth playing.

Hmm, probably. Yeah, I had to buy it used from Gamestop for $35, because Amazon had it for a whopping $57, which is crazy for a game that's been out for a while! Ah well, not a biggie. I've brought used games before, and as long as it's not a CD or disc that was used by someone's cat as a scratching post, there's usually no problem with it.
The reviews on it seem pretty good. Amazon, despite the bleh price, did have the ratings as high as four and a half stars. Seals the deal for me.
Morzone
08-16-2015, 05:45 PM
Oh no you don't Neo, not today.
Personally, I haven't sen much hype about PSMD. but that may be because my family and friends pretty much only play the mainstream Pokemon games, save for one who is a Pokemon fanatic like me. Though he's away at the moment. As for used games, most of the time it isn't any different than buying it new, ignoring price. It is fun sometimes when the original owner forgot to remove their data from the game and you can explore how far they got. Depending on the games it could be spoilers, but not usually.

Yeah, some reason many of the Pokefans out there are still clueless to how great (of course opinions are based differently for everyone) the Mystery Dungeon series are. Many of the friends I have that play Pokemon only play the main series games. Whenever I try and get them to try PMD, they turn it down. I even try to explain how great it is, but they don't believe me. So I'm not gonna force them.....maybe just nudge them towards giving it a try one day and continue to try.

Not sure, that's a wait and see kind of thing for me. I'll probably end up seeing it in theaters anyway, but as for how it's going to be, I dunno. Usually I give movies the benefit of the doubt before coming up with a verdict.

08-17-2015, 03:24 AM
Well along with that there's two more bits of Disney news. A Star Wars section is coming to Disney World and Land. That should be interesting alongside the Nintendo section to Universal Parks.
Also for those interested in Kingdom Hearts III the new world was announced at D23 today. Big Hero 6 is gonna be in the game. For those that haven't seen the movie yet, the world story will take place AFTER the events of the movie. So best to watch the movie before you play it unless you don't mind spoilers.
Also I'm waiting to reserve PSMD. I've seen in Japan Pokemon Centers are getting a hard cover Game Art book for the game. I'm gonna wait to see if there's like a Collector's Edition released with it here first.
Morzone
08-17-2015, 03:30 AM
I've heard about the Star Wars Disney World/land sections, though I haven't heard about the Nintendo section of Universal. Is this New or have I just missed it? I'd imagine the Star wars section is Disney's attempt to combat Universal's Harry Potter section, a rather popular attraction.
And no spoilers please, I still haven't seen Big Hero 6. (Very sad face)
I generally don't reserve Games, I just go to the nearest GameStop or other store and buy it the first chance I get. It puts me behind some people who will pre-order it, but oh well. It just means I need to obsessively play it even more to catch up.

I figured there would be a few people that haven't seen it yet here lol. I was one of those people until about a week ago now. Just started showing on the movie channels here. Yeah, if you intend on playing KH3 you need to watch the Big Hero 6 movie first. I'm actually pretty surprised they chose to write it like that, but kinda glad. Changes things up a bit from the usual way.

also I found out my new laptop came with some issues. Apparently the speakers and microphone are messed up or not properly placed or set up...? The audio takes time it seems to start up when starting videos on places like YouTube. The internal microphone (I made sure to turn on and allow with any and all apps) seems messed up too. I tried using Skype and my friend can barely hear me. So I turn the audio settings for the mic on Skype up to max, still nothing. So I go even further into the computer in every setting for sounds and turn the audio and mic up to the max levels (including the microphone boost to max) and still nothing. I dunno, 7 year gold supplier... it seems promising. What do you think? Because seriously, I would love to have one of them and go walking around town with it and see what kind of reaction it causes. It would be epic!
As for your audio, maybe try redownloading the sound card driver. I had a weird issue with sound not too long ago, and I ended up throwing out a set of perfectly good speakers when it was a sound card driver being out of date.

I dunno, never seen that site myself and the image showing it looks like it was taken right off the internet lol. Description says they sell all kinds of related items too though so hard to tell. I do know most of those exact Mascot Pikachu cotsumes are in the $100 range though, so they got the pricing right if it's legit.
Thanks for the tip, but to no avail. Forgot to mention I even uninstalled the driver for the audio and mic and reinstalled, yet nothing. So I dunno what it is. They got back to me in an email saying "try increasing the boost mic settings" even though I told them it was maxed out. So after replaying to them they said they would service it and gave me directions to send it back. SO might as well try and get everything in working order before the first 30 days in case I find out I could get something better with no issues lol. Maybe a cheaper one at that and have enough back to go buy a New 3DS for PSMD. My Pikachu 3DS XL is great and all, but I wanna try seeing the game in full 3D (at times at least) without straining my eyes and having to hold it a certain way.

Yeah, it's super, super easy to take any Pikachu mascot picture off of Google and just slap a watermark on it. You could be a total Photoshop doofus and still do it.
I mean, that place (Happy Island) has the 7 year gold supplier, they have the Trade Assurance thing turned on, the English is actually ok and not funky grammar, the price makes sense, and I Googled the company and really didn't come across that many incidents of it being a scam. But the big thing with the Trade Assurance is Alibaba mentions this:
"If the supplier breaks the on-time shipment or product quality terms of your contract, Alibaba.com will refund the covered amount of your payment."
"If we confirm that the supplier has breached the terms of your contract, we will reduce the level of their Trade Assurance Limit."
Having that kind of safety net is nice to know about and I highly doubt a scammer would go through that kind of trouble for seven years while having that kind of thing turned on. I dunno, I might just take a deep breath, grab the dice, and go for it, but make it clear that hey, I want the one that's in that picture.
And if it does work out well, awesome! Then, of course, learning the Pikachu dance would be an absolute obligation.

Only been camping once (if you consider a log cabin in the middle of nowhere camping). If was pretty bad mostly too being rainy all 3 days. Then again I was only like 7 at the time so the experience was different back then. I love rainy days now. Very relaxing. Especially thunderstorms.

I love thunderstorms and rain. I often get angry with the climate in my area because we get thundershowers (which last a grand total of about 15 minutes) rather than storms or rain. Cabin camping is still camping, though I suppose it's not quite the same if you're stuck inside the entire time.

oh no back then we still went out in all that rain. It was an off and on kinda thing when it hit. There was some....thing I can't remember the name of it. It was a festival like thing for Indians or Indian culture back then my mom wanted to see. She wanted to see it all because she lived with them for a few years of her life. While interesting to see different cultures designs and stuff now, back then being a young kid I was more into just goofing off lol. I distinctly remember firing one of those pop gun at lightning bolts I saw while waiting out the rain.
Now even with how humid it is here. Most the summer rain is expected here. Though they predict rain, as it gets to that day it changes over the course of minutes. I'll be expecting rain, then the day finally arrives after a week of predicting the rain, the day of it changes to be just a few cloud. It's pretty bad here when it comes to predicting the weather. The humid is the worst here I've seen. I've been out west and it feels great with no humidity. I found it pretty hard to even start sweating when I was out in 105 degree weather out in Vegas over summer this year. Here, though, back on the east. It only takes a few moments of being in this think humid air to even start.
Morzone
08-24-2015, 02:48 AM
Oh god, that sounds horrible. I'd die in that much humidity. I know what you mean about the lack of humidity in the west though. I spent a week in Wyoming with my family, and even though it stormed 5 out of the 7 days it never felt like it was really humid. Even right before it started raining. Probably has something to do with the mountains.
Chakramaster

Up in the higher elevations in summer like that is just fantastic. A high of around 70 and lows being in the 40s to 50s and with NO humidity at all? Perfect kind of weather. Here though? It's like 80-100% humidity all summer long and it sucks. It's why I prefer the fall and winter over the others. It may not rain as much then, but it's just much more bearable here then.

Lol yes Neo, we do (kinda ironic in a way too).
I haven't had a real vacation in the last 2 years. Well outside of going out west to see my dad since he was living out the working a contract job. NM is pretty interesting to see in parts. The first trip there also lead me here to PXR on the trip out there I had time to check online for stuff and some things caught my eye and suddenly I find my way here through the old site. Well it wasn't just NM it was Las Vegas as well. Both times they were pretty cool. Just barely missed a huge storm there though that had a huge flood in the city from what I heard after we left.
Either way I still would like to take a small vacation somewhere, maybe even with the family if they want, but time for everyone like that is hard to get with everyone on a different schedule.

The only vacation I went on was that very recent camping trip, and I didn't actually take any time off for that, it was mainly for the weekend. Still, it was a great new experience for me and was definitely a fantastic use of the few days we had.
I decided to use my vacation time on Christmas, Thanksgiving, and Halloween... just because. I don't have any actual plans, yet.

If I ever had the chance I'd go back to New York City for Thanksgiving (or around Christmas time). I never had a better time somewhere decorated out for the Christmas spirit. I got to see the Thanksgiving Parade while there before the new Pikachu balloon replaced the one with the flashing cheeks. It was a great time (though I think after my first ever flight I came down with jet lag pretty bad because once I hit that room I couldn't move without feeling sick.
The Nintendo store was pretty cool as well, though I didn't find anything interesting at the time. Well...it was before I started picking up Pikachu plushies and stuff, but still in the Black and White games time. At least I planned it at the best possible year because if I had waited like I had the choice for the next year I would've wasted a few hundred of dollars because I ended up in the hospital that next year around that time. Still it was a great time in NY back then.
Edit: wow I just noticed the last two posts I made were like text walls...I gotta stop that lol. It's too easy to start rambling.

The Nintendo store is just ok. I've been there twice, but never really saw anything worth buying. It was way more awesome when the whole place was devoted entirely to Pokemon. They had way more exclusive stuff that was worth whipping out the credit card for.
And yeah, I've been at the Thanksgiving Day Parade in person a few times. It's way more awesome in person, but having to wake up ULTRA early to catch a train to the city is tough. Also, finding a decent spot can be tricky also, but it is really cool to see everything in person and not have to be bombarded with ads!
Chakramaster
08-25-2015, 05:22 AM
It's weird though, being there in person. After years of watching it on tv it's almost custom to hear background music play for each float or balloon, but actually there it's nothing but cheers....and cold weather lol. The crowd was pretty bad too. Lucky I got there early enough, even though people still pushed there way up front. Still as cold and bad as the crowd was if love to do it again.
That's what really fueled me to watch to see NY before I actually looked more around online at NY. Was the Pokemon Center there. I saw images of it in Nintendo Power when it first opened up and was super excited something like it opened in Anerica. It was unusual to see. Wish I had made it in time. Oh well, there's always Japan now lol.

If you go during Christmas time it was pretty easy to find. Just about a block away from the Rockefeller Christmas tree. I believe it's right next to the NBC station. So anytime you may watch that the Nintendo store is in the back corner of that view outside depending on the angle.

I did take music classes back in high school, but it's been a long time since then and I only really played bass drum and bells....if I had worked on piano that would been better. I still imagine taking it up to play music like the PMD music at times. Maybe I'll try editing/remixing/arranging once my laptop gets back from repairs.

Well, Neo, if you can operate a mouthpiece with a reed, you could probably play a clarinet pretty decently. The fingerings are almost identical (give or take a few extra holes/keys on the clarinet.)
EDIT: And a post was made while I was typing that... Nyeh.

I never had luck with wind or brass instruments. It was only the percussion area. I mean I played the recorder back in elementary school. Now it's lost in time somewhere.
My piano is still good, but it's out of tune. So playing sheet music to pieces or even by ear is very hard. I did learn how to play pieces like "Through the Sea of Time" and "Hope" from Mystery Dungeon at least.

I was in band from 6th grade until graduation, and I wasn't fond of most of the music I had to learn. I did, however, find the sheet music for one song online that I would love to play if I could get a small group together: Lugia's Song

Now I mean one handed, not the two handed amazing kind of sounding piece you'd see people make on YouTube. One handed is a start. Especially considering it's all been by ear so far. My sheet reading has been....lacking ever since the transition from middle to high school. After I dropped band my Junior year it just feel from there.
The Lugia song is pretty good. I think it'd be one worth learning to play as well. Though I think I'd like to learn the way using the same instrument from it. That or the ocarina or flute (if I ever got either one of those).

I almost got suckered into playing tuba for band during middle school. Then, at the last minute, I was like... "why am I doing this, I don't even like that big, oversized thing." Plus they paired me with a snotty kid I really couldn't stand, making it that much worse.
If I had to play some kind of instrument, I would either go guitar or piano. My brother tried it and gave it up and my sister tried flute and gave that up also. Music just... isn't a big thing in my family. XD

When I was tested in middle school to see which instruments I could play, the teachers said clarinet and trumpet. However, I never tried trumpet, so I don't think I can actually play it at all any more.
As for piano, I haven't done much practice on one because I don't have one, but it was the first instrument that I played and made me want to join band (even though I was never really good with it), but I have began to learn the keys.
Neo Emolga
08-30-2015, 07:17 PM
If I had to play trumpet, I would definitely try to learn how to do the trumpet solo in Safe and Sound by Capital Cities. That's a great song and the trumpet really stands out in that one.
Chakramaster
08-30-2015, 11:54 PM
Since bells/maramba/and the piano are so similar in key structure, that's one thing that really helped me learn. Wind instruments are completely different. All depends on how your lips are placed on the reed and needs quick changing at times. I guess that's why I couldn't get into those.
I'm pretty surprised, but I just found some big, possibly very revealing, PSMD news. This requires a spoiler tag tho as it contains spoilers from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time/Darkness/ and Sky.
Apparently in one of the trailers when we see the connection links we can see something pretty awesome relating to previous Mystery Dungeon games. 3 particular connections are: Dusknoir, Grovyle, and "specifically" a pink Celebi all connected to each other. This can almost stand as absolute proof that at least the first 2 worlds of Mystery Dungeon are in the game. At this point why not Gates world, like Post Town, as well?
Morzone
08-30-2015, 11:59 PM
Reminds me of what I was wondering when I watched the first trailer. Since the Pokemon world is so large in PSMD, do you think the towns from the previous PMD games could be in there some where? It was pretty clear that there's going to be more than one town, if background scenery counts for anything.
I wonder how important to the story line these connections are going to be.
Chakramaster
08-31-2015, 12:15 AM
The world looks huge. The entire continents or worlds could be behind the corners of the world we currently see. I would love to see the other towns. Seeing Wigglytuff Guild, Pokemon Square, or other dungeons like the previous final dungeons (excluding GTI). Just the remastered soundtracks alone would be amazing!
This also brings me back to one of my original theories to this game. Mostly being based on dimensions or dimensional travel or issues. They show us Giratina in a trailer and tell us we can summon Hoopa with an item. It was just revealed in its movie and given out in Japan and soon to be here in the US. I still feel Yveltal and Xerneas have a primary role to the main issues to be resolved in the game, but there's gotta be something with Hoopa and/or Giratina. The dimensions could lead us to these previous worlds if there is dimensional travel.

That. would. be. awesome.
Heck, either way, I have yet to be disappointed by a PMD game. Gates has been quite a bit of fun and I'm stumped as to why I waited so long to finally play this. Better late than never, maybe?
Also, I started inquiring about Pikachu mascot costumes and decided to contact that one supplier I mentioned earlier. He showed me this picture (http://imgur.com/wCdQbDH), and it doesn't look bad and looks pretty close, but it doesn't quite look like the costumes they feature in Pikachu Festivals and that's what I was really hoping to get. I decided to ask him if he could make it more like those and like the ones he had on the main product page. And I also provided yet another Pikachu Festival picture so he had the right idea (I swear, scrolling through pictures of Pikachu Festivals will easily blow your mind. XD)
I'm really hoping he can do it. If not... ah, I think what he showed me is pretty good, even if it's a little different in terms of body shape and proportion. Figured I'd ask anyway!

It was worth it to ask for sure. More accurate the better spending that kind of money for it.
Yeah Gates wasn't perfect, but it was still a great Mystery Dungeon game for sure. Few things in the game I could complain about and it's only dealing with how you can't change the text speed or take on more than one mission at a time. There's one or two more, but it's not too serious other than those few. Still was a great game to add to the series.

It was worth it to ask for sure. More accurate the better spending that kind of money for it.
So I inquired further and asked for more pictures. And... long story short, it's a knock-off. The one they can make doesn't look horrible, but it's not all that great and doesn't look as good as the official ones they feature in the Pikachu Festival. Plus there's obvious signs it's a knock off, such as the start of Pikachu's tail being black instead of brown. The guy said he could make it look like the official ones, but... eh, hate to say it, but I don't quite trust him. Why not just make them look right from the start? It just seems fishy, especially since they're showing pictures of the ones from the festival when that's not what they make. So... no deal. I'm not dropping a few hundred bucks on this unless it's the real thing, and this just isn't.
With Gates, I think the text speed is fine. I don't miss the monster houses to be honest, and it's actually hard to notice they took away hunger. If they bring those things back in PSMD, cool, but I wouldn't miss them if they didn't. But yeah, not being able to pick multiple missions all in the same dungeon is the real killer, because I did that constantly to rake in maximum rewards and still be efficient with time.
Chakramaster
09-01-2015, 12:18 AM
Yeah knock offs aren't really worth the money unless there's something really special about it.
Text speed is bareable. I just wish there was an option to speed it up. The lack of gender choice ruined it for a lot of people. It didn't really matter to me, but it's good to see it returning in PSMD. As for the hunger and monster houses I enjoyed both, but wouldn't miss the hunger part since short dungeons means there's no reason to worry about the hunger in the first place. Both are back in the new one for sure so it's all welcoming to me. Monster houses were fun and easy to me (unless there was a volt absorb or lightning rod Pokemon in the group). Being a Pikachu with discharge has its perks.

09-01-2015, 01:43 AM
Yeah, I've often felt I should try something other than Pikachu, but in the end, I'm like... ah, Pikachu is just more fun. And Discharge is fantastic.
In other good news, the Mad Max game comes out tomorrow, so I'm going to have to struggle when it comes to deciding to play that or Gates. Now if only they could just combine the two and have Pokemon in a post-apocalyptic world with gritty fighting and hulking cars and trucks. Oh, that would be bliss.

:P my partner, which was a shinx, always had this amazing ability to either not want to use discharge in a monster house or would run out of PP for it just before we found the house. Monster houses were a nightmare before I taught myself dark pulse, afterward it was fine. Most monster house traps I hit had anything worth taking. If anything it was the gummies and even if my inventory was full. I just ate those instead of holding onto them making them into shakes. If anything had a move or ability to cancel electric moves it just made it more tidius. Having to use a foe-hold or foe-fear orb. That plus agility made it super easy to speed through. If all else and it went downhill. A quick pure seed and a step on the stairs fixes that.

And yeah, all this stress, overtime, and burnout is literally killing employees. My brother had a coworker that got overcome with stress, got cancer, and died because of it. That's worse than slavery if you ask me.

Sucks to hear that. Yeah it seems like the job market is in a state where it's hard to get in, but they either have too many to hire, or they have too little and the hire restrictions are too strict making it hard to find new employees. Especially for those looking for their first job. Most places now requiring prior experience makes that hard on those looking for their first. That shouldn't be an excuse for not adding more employees to take some work load off others. Though these last few weeks I guess are understandable since it was the last few weeks of summer for kids before school started back. So the last family, or friends vacations are to be expected.
Hope it all works out better. Health is always better to keep up with.
Happy Birthday Sir Sivelos

So, in Gates to Infinity, I'm up to the part where you rescue the Swadloon in the forest. Now... tell me if I'm right or wrong before I find out myself:
I have a strong hunch it's not actually the Swadloon you "rescue." Things seem way too peachy for that. I'm guessing the Pokemon that's been terrorizing Post Town is actually a Zoroark, found the Swadloon in the forest, sacked him, and then used Illusion to pretend he's the Swadloon to swap places.
I'm wondering if I'm on the money with this theory. Think I'll play a little more to find out.

I'm assuming you've made it past that by now, but in case since you wanted to know...
that was the Inflora Forest part if I remember right, but no. Not a bad theory, but it's not right. You'll learn more about it over time.
I think it was around that part of the game, or after, it started getting hard for me to put down the game lol.

That's the thing about PMD games. Their storylines are WAY more interesting than the mainstream games. The characters also seem to have a heck of a lot more personality.
So far, I've been pretty happy with Gates to Infinity. Don't know why it took me all the way up until now to finally start playing it, but it's got all the juicy qualities I've come to appreciate in PMD games. Delicious.

Well Apart from the general progression of the 1st to 8th gym and the Pokemon league, the mainstream games have always been a more free world like game. You can go where you want and catch what you want as long as you beat the gyms. The PMD games are more open for story plot lines. Besides, When a Human has turned into a Pokemon, you never know what could happen. Plot + being an actual Pokemon is what makes PMD so great. :D
Neo Emolga
09-06-2015, 08:49 PM
Definitely agreed. PMD requires you to be more resourceful and it leaves just so many darn cliffhangers from beginning to end!
I'll admit, free world games are fun also. I've been playing Mad Max lately and that's a great, free world style game that encourages you to explore. It's a bit slow to start off, but once you get to Jeet's stronghold, it really starts to pick up. It really has nothing to do with the movie besides featuring the same characters, world, and style. If you're thinking of playing it, I can give you a few tips and pointers.

It's true. The story is amazing in the PMD games. I've had friends turn it down because it looks too "kid friendly." I just laugh and try to explain it's.....just a bit darker than that. That along with just how amazing the soundtrack.
I've heard Mad Max was good. Just need to hold off on spending too much for now lol. I got a code with my laptop for MGS V. So once I get it back from the repairs I got to give that a try. Only problem is, I've never played even one MGS game. So I'd be jumping into the story blindly lol.

PMD soundtracks are definitely good. It's not all that kid friendly. Parts of it can get pretty dark.
I did see MGS V was released, but I'm not that great at those games. I'm horrible at stealth missions in general and would actually prefer an escort mission over them.

*jumps into conversation* Honestly, I have a large library of games I like, from most game styles, but I've never played any of those games either (though I do find references to them everywhere on youtube). My gaming experience is... Limited, to say the least. I'm always behind on technology, so I'm never up to date. Unfortunately, that also means that my pokemon experience is limited. (I've only played two PMD games, my first pokemon game was Diamond, the earliest game I've actually owned is Emerald, and I haven't even made it to Gen VI.) However, I will agree that the soundtracks are amazing, even if I do prefer the Fallout 3 soundtrack because it's all 1961 or older music XD

"He's hackin' and wackin' and smackin'... he's hackin' and wackin' and smackin'... he's hackin', wackin', choppin' that..." oh, sorry, was trailing off again there. And yes, definitely looking forward to Fallout 4, but I hope my computer can handle it. Doesn't seem like they've rammed up the graphics too much, which I'm fine with. Otherwise I would probably have to knock them down a bit anyway. Not everyone runs quad-Titan video cards. XP
Seems like most people I've talked to about it are shocked I didn't even touch ORAS. I dunno, I find it already kind of bland that Pokemon mainstream games recycle the same formula, so when it's just a remake of an already recycled idea, I'm just not that into it. I tried Soul Silver and I was like... blah, been there done that. And the original Hoenn games were good, but I wasn't a nut about them.

I don't have any way to play it myself, I need to use other people's systems since the only game system I have is a DSi that broke so that it won't hold a game, and I don't play games like that on a pc, I prefer playstation.
HeartGold and SoulSilver were my first journey into Johto and Kanto. I honestly would like to play ORAS because I haven't played many pokemon games and that's my favorite region (it holds most of my favorite pokemon).

My first journey games... the original Blue version, back when I was 17. Initially, before even playing the game, I wasn't too crazy about Pokemon and the whole prospect of owning virtual pets was a sour experience after having dealt with a Tamagotchi (don't know how I got suckered into getting one of those). Then my brother and his friends were thinking of playing it and talked me into it. I was like, eh, alright, it did seem at least a little bit better than that annoying egg-shaped abomination.
Here I am, 33 now, and still playing Pokemon games. There's been times where I've tried to leave it behind and move on, but... AH, THE WITHDRAWAL!!! If I try to drop it, I miss it, and then they release a new game and I'm like screw it, I'm back, let's fire this up again. It happens constantly.

XD Well, I started acting it out when I was little, my mom 'grounded' me from in from then (probably still in Gen I) until about the time Gen III ended.

09-07-2015, 02:31 AM
I got into Pokemon mainly thanks to my brothers. They were "the cool guys" with the Gameboys and the Pokemon games, so I was always looking over their shoulders as they played. Makes it a little hard to pin down which was my first gen, since they let me start (but not save) on both their FRLG games and in their ERS versions. I never got any real taste of Johto until heartgold and soulsilver. But I took a real Liking to Emerald, and especially Rayquaza. Then, when I finally got my DS, 4th gen had just come out and I got Pearl.
So the question is, is my first gen gen I/III thanks to my brothers, or gen IV because it was the first one I actually own? Either way, Sinnoh and Hoen are by far the best regions. Never could put one over the other, but both were best. Practically all my favorite Pokemon come from those two gens.
AWA1997

I'm a dragon-type trainer, and Sinnoh and Hoenn are the two best regions for finding dragon-types and draconian pokemon (for instance, Tyranitar).
Neo Emolga
09-07-2015, 03:38 AM
I tend to go flying types. My Gen 1 team had, out of later-realized coincidence, five flying types (Raichu was the only one that wasn't), and I realized the big mistake of that. My Gen 2 stuff corrected that goof, however.
AWA1997
09-07-2015, 03:49 AM
I've always been a fan of dragons and dinosaurs, so when I saw the type effectiveness of dragon-types, I made that my primary focus. My teams usually looks along the lines of my starter (usually fire-type) (to counter Ice weakness) Aggron (to counter both Ice and Dragon) one fully evolved Dragon-Type (usually the most common one I can find), one legendary (usually also Dragon-Type), and one other pokemon that I caught early on and I trained to work against most of its weaknesses. Of course, these pokemon can also counter their own weaknesses, but it's always good to cover your bases, especially with dragons.
Neo Emolga
09-07-2015, 04:09 AM
Ah, I like dragon-types also. Definitely loaded with lots of cool Pokemon. It's hard to build a TCG deck around them though. I've tried and haven't gotten much success out of it. I might also need more cards, of course.
And yeah, I play on the online version to avoid going broke. XD
AWA1997
09-07-2015, 04:26 AM
I don't play the TCG, and I barely touch the cards I have. (My last birthday present before my grandma died my freshman year was three sets of pokemon cards from Gen V, and when I lost them while changing rooms, I haven't hardly touched any of the rest of them. At least I know that, if I find them again, they're safe in an Entei card tin.)
That's understandable. I just don't like playing games on pc when they seem to work better on consoles. (This also goes with MKX being on mobile, even though I still love the game, it's just a bit more boring on the mobile platform since you can't string together combos like you do on consoles.)

I started my journey into the Pokemon games back when it first came out while I was in Elementary School. 2nd grade I believe it was. My brother and I both jumped on it. We would enjoy battling each other. I remember I even ended up getting a birthday present later on being the Yellow Version Soecual Pikachu Edition and the Pikachu GBC to go with it. It was awesome to go around with that. My brother and I kept up with the game up until gen 3. That came out around the time I was about to go to High School and I remember I was trying to uhh..."fit" into the typical high schooler look and such lol. So when my brother ended up getting both Ruby and Sapphire both from an arcade game for about $10 worth of attempts and he didn't give me the other. I kinda got out of the Pokemon stuff for awhile.
Theeeeen Diamond, Pearl, and more specifically Pokemon Mystery Dungeon Blue Rescue Team came out and pulled me back in. Still haven't been able to pull my brother back in yet though. He gave Y a chance, but he never finished it. Yet, all of his friends still play it xD.

I think PMD: Blue was one of the only few games that almost drove me insane waiting for. I absolutely adored the concept and later on I regretted not ultra-rush delivering that puppy to my doorstep. I still own it, and wouldn't ever dream of trading it in. Looking back, it's crazy to think it didn't even feature most Gen 4 Pokemon.
But yeah, I really adored that game. And then Darkness came out and my mind was further blown.
A lot of people say the Pokemon mainstream games would make a great MMO, but you know, I think the PMD ones would be awesome as one also.
Chakramaster
09-08-2015, 01:19 AM
I think the reason PMD Blue didn't feature many gen 4 is because it came out right before they were released. It came out right around the time of the Lucario movie which is why it had a featured rank hinting at a future Pokemon.
Crazy part is, is that I remember BRT got me back into Pokemon, but it did so with story alone (because over half the game I played without sound). I finished the game while waiting on food somewhere so the effects were as strong as they would've been my first playthrough). Years later the full replay though hit pretty hard.
I remember loving the idea of it as well. As a young kid being a fan of Pokemon you could imagine the thoughts of becoming a Pikachu lol. Took me back to those days. Once Darkness and Time came out I jumped on that day 1. Glad I did too because people that got it day 1 got and Explorers handbook from GameStop.
A true PMD MMO would be amazing, but just like a real mainstream Pokemon MMO will never happen. The same goes for PMD sadly. Though there is (or was) a fan made PMD MMO. It's not perfect last I checked of very popular, but it's out there. Heck if I was good at programming something like that I'd go for it. Only thing is I feel I need to hire someone for the soundtrack lol. Some remixers out there are rather good with remixes and arrangements for the games.

PMD Red/Blue were pretty good, but the storyline is shorter than Darkness/Time/Sky. There also isn't nearly as much after storyline stuff either, but it's still a decent game in its own right. I'd say give it a spin if you can find it being sold somewhere.

That's what I like about these Mystery Dungeon games. It's fun to try guessing what happens, but it's very unpredictable at times. Yeah some parts are, but the most part it keeps you guessing.
From what I remember, Gates actually had the highest Famitsu scores. While Explorers of Sky was the lowest I believe at 34 or 35/40. I'd have to look back at that.
Neo Emolga
09-09-2015, 02:59 AM
Sky was the LOWEST!? Sky was awesome, the amount of after storyline content was enormous, it was practically a whole new undertaking in its own. After the original credits roll, heck, you practically had a whole new game to play.
Plus the extra side missions were great. Playing as Team Charm was absolutely hilarious, although the whole cave exploration thing was kind of dry and didn't really seem to fit with that whole team's personality. The one where you play as Grovyle and Dusknoir teamed up also put in a whole new component into the storyline, which was definitely interesting to explore.
Sky having the lowest score... pft, that's just ridiculous.
Chakramaster

Yeah Sky got a 35/40 while B/R rescue Team and Explorers of Darkness and Time both got a 36/40. Gates got a 38/40 (it was a Famitsu review on some other site so it may not be accurate).
I prefer Sky over the others just because it IS those games with tons more content. So I dunno why it's worth giving it a point less than the others.

There's very few people who wouldn't prefer sky over the others. I played both time and darkness, so I wasn't new to the story. Then I got sky, and it was a whole new (world) game. It blew my mind even if I did know the main story already. I wonder what the reviewers didn't like about it.

Well, it is Famitsu (which seem to really like Pokemon and always give it good reviews). I guess it was the rehash thing is all. They never expected a extended version of a spin-off. Frankly at the time neither did I. I even found it was a vast improvement from how the game ran, new areas, faster saving, more story, etc. I could see it easily making a better rating than the previous two. Hopefully I can find both Famitsu reviews later and find out why.

Well Pokemon decided to try and start the 20th Anniversary year strong with an actual Pokemon iOS and Android game next year. Hopefully we hear much more soon for the upcoming year. On future games as well such as main series. I expect some big stuff.
Still holding out hope for the PSMD N3DS (possibly even XL since they are doing it with the Zelda one) State side xD.
Edit: woah I just did more research on PSMD and reminded myself what Xerneas, Yveltal, and Zygarde were based off of. Seeing as we keep seeing that tree in the trailer (and the one on the cover art), it being based around something called the Yggdrasil Tree would make sense that the other Mystery Dungeon worlds are in the game if so since that tree would be the connection between the supposed "9 worlds."
Morzone

There are two pronunciations that I've heard. It's ancient Norse mythology, so I don't know which is real, if either, but I've heard it as:
ig (like fig) dri (like drill) zil (like Godzilla)
Or
Eeg (like eek, but with a g) dri zil.
(I actually did a research paper on Norse Mythology.)

It's pronounced in the Tales of Symphonia game if you wanna actually hear it pronounced. Just find that somewhere on YouTube if you want...sadly I'd provide a link, but I'm still limited to my mobile connection. Anyway, that's how I've heard it pronounced for the most part. Some have pronounced it different, but the way it's pronounced in Tales of Symphonia is how I learned it.
There's also a user on YouTube has a video up about it if you prefer a non spoiler video to a game you may play if you haven't since if you look up anything dealing with Yggdrasil on Tales of Symphonia it will likely have spoilers. YouTube name is Twintendo I believe it was.

Yeah, even MatPat said he was suspicious. My theory is, he was this was the end of the original series. Due to recent updates on his site, I think we're getting a sequel series around Fredbear and Friends.
Chakramaster
09-13-2015, 04:28 PM
Yup, that's along the same lines I was thinking. This series is done, but not the games. There's easily more he could go into now. He could even go on to make one for the movie as well or to lead into it. Scott's already rich from all this now so he's keeping it going pretty strong. I did hear that he tried (or did after the charity donation page was fixed) donating $30k to the charity event Markiplier was hosting recently.
There's still some unanswered questions. So I don't think the story as a whole is over, but this particular series is. Like MatPat said it clearly says it on the steam page for it. The final chapter of the original series. Would look it up, but my laptop still hasn't returned....oh well xD

09-13-2015, 05:09 PM
Well, and here’s the thing, lots have not been answered in the original series alone. For the first game we still don’t know why Freddy has handprints on his face or why Foxy was out of order. Who is Mike Schmidt and how was he related? Who killed the Phone Guy? Who was the Phone Guy? Was Golden Freddy truly a hallucination or was he so possessed by a child that he moved paranormally? What went on in that kitchen? What suit was used to kill the five kids? What about the whole endoskeleton in backstage?
Second game, who was the pink guy? Who was the purple guy? What happened at that first restaurant? Who was the puppet? Who was the perpetrator of the bite of 87?Who was the victim? Why were the original four scrapped for parts? Who were the shadows? Who was Balloon boy? Who was JJ? Who was Jeremy Fitzgerald and what happened to him? Who was Fritz Smith and did he come before or after Jeremy? And the endoskeleton here too?
Third game, who was the security guard? Why are there phantoms? What about that purple golden freddy? What was the purpose of the good and bad endings? When did the Atari games take place?
Fourth game, who was the crying child? who did he become? Who was the freddy plushie? Who was this kid’s dad? who was this kid’s brother? Why was the purple guy there? What happened that scarred this kid for life? Why was he bullied so much by everyone? When did it take place? Was this the Bite of 87 or was this the springlock failure mentioned in game 3?
EDIT: Scott's site was updated! JJ, the balloon boy hallucination, has arrived behind FNAF1 Freddy's legs!

09-13-2015, 09:06 PM
In one of Matt's theory videos Scott did mention that it wasn't the bite of 87 in FNAF 4 (I hate being unable to link things easily on mobile...that and research).
Each game released seemed to explain something, but left more questions on top of those answers. I'll try and piece down what I seems to have concluded so far.
Starting with the earliest being the FNAF 4. The crying child is the one that becomes the Puppet later supposedly because of the way the puppet and him both are seen with the tear marks on their face. In one of the games in FNAF 3 you even see a figure in the same position as the child with the same marks. Even their clothing matches from the black and grey colors and stripes.
Now it's still not proven yet, but this kid may not have been the first like many theorize. Mainly because in one of the sequences in fnaf4 when he's trapped in the spare parts room. It looks like either wiring or hair coming out from one (or more) of the animatronics.
It's still theorized that the phone guy is purple guy because of the shape in the hand, but that's not standalone proof. It's still not really proven who it is. We just know the purple guy becomes Springtrap due to the moisture that gets into the suit while he's inside it. So the springlock failure was shown in the 3rd game for sure, even mentioned on one of the tapes.
Pink guy? May need a refresher or something on that. Never heard or seen anything on a pink guy. The reason they started taking the original ones apart was to make new animatronics because they wanted to make more kid friendly animatronics as the old ones were too frightening for younger kids. So they just used some parts while making the new ones. It's still unknown what happened at the first restaurant. Even the 4th game takes place at the 2nd restaurant and not the first. It's still assumed that the first guard in FNAF 2 was the one that got bit during the bite of 87, since the bite took place during the day while he was replaced for the night shift. It's still assumed to be cause by Mangled at that since it was never fully complete and had many issues.
Golden Freddy is predicted to be that of the first victim. We still know very little about it, what it can do, and where the suit itself is.
I'll have to look back over my post. It's getting a bit lengthy to scroll up on this small screen lol.

1) According to 8-bit gaming, Scott has confirmed that the purple guy and phone guy are NOT the same person. Which makes sense because if the crying child's dad is the phone guy and then phone guy is purple guy then why wasn't the dad's pixels purple? They're two separate people and definitely not the same person.
2) In one of the FNAF2 mini games (Foxy's go go one I believe it was) there's a man made of pink pixels on the third run. This can't be the purple guy because of the color difference between the two and therefore he had to be someone else.
3) Never was confirmed that the older ones were too frightening for kids, it's assumed something malfunctioned with one of them at a previous location that caused the new ones to replace them. Phone Guy hints at this heavily in FNAF2.
4) No, fourth game takes place at the sister location mentioned in FNAF3 that had multiple spring lock failures. It was not the FNAF2 location. It was four years prior as well but they are not the same location.

Woo now to respond again (didn't even get a chance to recheck my last post lol). Got busy sorry haha.
1. Oh no, I didn't mean it as the crying child's dad was purple guy (if that's how it looked from the way I put it). They are definitely 2 separate people. Then again don't expect Scott to always shade the real purple guy purple. Sometimes the real culprit behind murders or event are right in the open not trying to hide.
2. I'll have to re run FNAF 2 because I don't remember any pink figure. I only remember the purple guy in that mini game.
3. Again, another one I may need refreshing on through a playthrough. Coulda swore I remember hearing they were frightening to some children in this were remade for the new location.
4. (Lol yeah I shoulda rechecked before I got too busy) yeah it was a different location from the second game. The events in the 4th were definately at another location. Also taking place in 83 and not in 87. Two separate places and two different years. Ironically though, both have a similar event take place.

1. No you misunderstand. The common theory is that this kid is related to an employee or owner of a fazbear entertainment establishment, hence why he is there so often. Thus, we only know of two confirmed employees, purple guy and phone guy. The theory is the kid's father is one of these two, and I'm saying that Scott has confirmed that purple guy and phone guy aren't the same person. Thus, since Scott is very particular about his games and attention to details, I don't think the father would be purple guy since we seen the father twice and he isn't purple. I think the kid's father is phone guy.
2)http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/villains/images/3/3a/Purple_Man_and_the_Killer.png/revision/latest?cb=20150306165859 Guy on the right. Some people argue its young purple man and others say it's an entirely different individual.
3. Well it's possible that was mentioned but it's also mentioned that there was a malfunction with the originals and then of course there's the whole corpse stuffing thing that is mentioned in FNAF1.
4. Right. That we agree upon.

Hmm it's an interesting theory. I haven't done any research since FNAF3 since my computer went down. Only post research I've done since 4 released was the Gane Theory for it. So new information is still out there for me to read up on.
Honestly it makes sense, but when I think about it. Since this is supposed to be the "series finale" to this particular chapters. I feel like it would've shown somehow that phone he is the kid's father specifically. Unless of course it's hidden in the game and everyone has missed it so far.
Yeah I'm definately gonna have to look more into that. It's the first I've heard of a "pink guy" theory, but yeah the do share similar, though different color shades. It would have to be different people. I wouldn't see Scott making him look younger just by making him a lighter shade.
The corpse stuffing is still a mystery that hasn't been explained too well. I'm still curious to hear more on it. People still think it may have happened in (or before 83) from images seen in FNAF 4. More review will be needed for it later.
There's just so much in gonna have to refresh on once my laptop gets back. I'll probably replay all the games just to do a little refresher.

Also, just a note, the murders probably began in the 60's or 70's, since Phone Guy mentions the suits not being cleaned in over 20 years, and it's almost unanimously agreed that the first murder occured before the suits were in use and were the reason for Fredbear's Diner's collapse.

Yeah but there's still the extension for Halloween, the movie, and the box. That could clue us in on some things.

09-14-2015, 05:20 PM
Right, but it also appears that the box may never open, so... Yeah...
Noblejanobii

It will eventually. Scott's too devious to not open it.

Right. October, if Scott can wait for once, is when the update is supposed to be here. So we should find out more with the update most likely. Least it's a free update at that.
AWA1997
09-14-2015, 06:51 PM
Right, but we know the update won't include the box. For all we know, we won't be getting the box for quite a while.
Chakramaster
09-14-2015, 07:07 PM
*Insert "What's in the box?" Reference here.* lol, anyway I wouldn't say that for sure. Scott is well known now for dropping things on us without a notice. Just when you least expect it. BAM a whole new game (or in this case a big update...least bigger than we may be expecting). Scott is just one giant troll xD

I'm thinking he'll probably do another series with Fredbear and Friends and the box will be dropped somewhere in there
Chakramaster
09-14-2015, 10:21 PM
That's the one for sure thing we can expect. A whole new series of the Freddy/Fredbear games. More than likely Fredbear.
An interesting thought, but probably unlikely. Maybe this next update will unlock one of the locks on the box, but not the other. Maybe after completing the upcoming games will unlock the final key to use. Nothing but theories and speculation for now.

I've been having the urge to replay Gates to Infinity lately. Might do it before PSMD releases.
EDIT: more on FNAF...apparently FNAF World is confirmed as the next game.

Never played FNAF, but I've heard so, so much about it.
To me, it just doesn't really seem that scary. Jump scares are more annoying than frightening, really. I've seen a fair share of those already.
Chakramaster

Watching it is more funny from the reactions we see others have. Well it has a weird way that it works. To me for the first few times it may jumps are me, but being pretty perceptive in video games I learn the patterns pretty easily and it becomes very predictable. Less jumps care and more annoying. Especially the harder it gets later on.
I'd recommend playing it if you enjoy a really deep and not so well explained story. Scott is both a troll and a genius.

I haven't really played it either. I've watched a few let's plays for it, but that's about it. Personally, I think if you get a person freaked out just by normal game play and then add in some jump scares, you've got a real scary game. Kind of like the Outlast games.

I saw one Let's Play of it (forgot which one, but I think it was Pewdiepie) and was actually laughing at the way the guy was jumping and freaking out. I was like... "dude, come on, it's a game." I might blink or twitch back when something freaky suddenly jumps up at me, but I don't go berserk and start dropping f-bombs left and right.
I'm so tempted to fire the game up and make my own Let's Play.

I've always wanted to do a Let's Play of my own but I have neither the time nor the equipment to do so. Maybe if FNAF World is free I might do that…

I've had thoughts on starting up and running a YT channel on mine. I even bought my new laptop in hopes to try. My original idea was to start a PokePodcast with a few people, but now most of them have disappeared. That and the fact my laptop wasn't built or working right (mainly in the mic area...the most important for recording discussions) I had to get that fixed.
I doubt FNAF World will be free. Scott knows how to milk for money now. The FNAFB games probably gave him the idea of making an RPG game for FNAF I'm guessing.

Try checking out Markiplier's playthrough for those. From what I saw Pewdie kinda got turned off on the games and was more overreacting for entertainment and "try harding" to record them just for the fans who wanted to watch him play it. Mark takes it a bit more seriously and still likes the games. Hence why most people say Mark is the King of FNAF lol.

Well, yeah, except Scott is like a millionaire now. He's donated thousands upon thousands of dollars to the charity streams and, as he is a Christian, I don't think he'll fall to greed that easily. My theory is the game will be free but then there will be like DLCs and such. Kind of like the Artix entertainment, Wizard101, League of Legends, etc. Like, the game itself is free but you get special things for a little extra cash, like most RPGs are nowadays. My only hope is, if he does do this, that the Mangle's remade form doesn't cost money to get because I will be very sad if this is the case.

That was irrelevant.
I'm thinking that, if it is free, he'll still have the in-app purchases and the like, but if it actually does cost money, it will be very little.

Yeah, expect a lot of games to start rolling out soon. Holidays are not too far off. They'll be here before you know it.
And I'm glad for that, because I saved all my vacation days for the end of the year. Time to cash in. :D

Yeah the release will be here in no time. Even though I've already got it paid off I'm still hoping to hear back from anywhere I've applied to. Not even a call back yet for interviews yet.

US is set for November 20 (unless they pull of a Star Fox Zero and delay it). Outside the US it's still just early 2016.
So a few days before Thanksgiving isn't bad. They better hope to get a good restock on it before Black Friday though lol.

Yeah, it sucks for those outside the US though. Woulda been nice if the game was a worldwide release date, but oh well. They can't all be that way. I can stand waiting til November. That's right around my favorite time of the year (late fall) anyway. Then again most big game titles release in the fall.
