A Single Element

Plot:Mages
They've existed amongst you since the universe began. They are the reason that you were born and the reason you will die. While they are few in numbers, they are far more powerful than any force mortals can muster. They are practically immortal, only able to die when the spell that keeps them alive is cancelled out. As such, not many of the original Mages still exist, but not many new Mages have followed them either. The war and destruction from over billions of years often being the result of the end of a Mage. And yet, they have remained undiscovered all this time.
So what changed?
They made a mistake.
Egyptian pyramids are known for their secret passageways. The Mages knew this as well. They helped build them after all. While many of them no longer use them, one of the few remaining originals, Enchanter, still utilizes his labs in the pyramids. It was on one day, while he was away from his labs, that an expedition funded by the American health company, Star Masses Health co., entered one of the labs by accident. They took everything. When Enchanter returned, he was frantic. The members of the expedition had taken all the samples from his lab: blood, tissue, and even equipment. While many might find this as nothing more than a minor robbery, it is important to remember that these samples were possessed by a Mage.
These were no ordinary samples.
The tests showed that.
Star Masses Health co. found something revolutionizing. The DNA contained in the samples was evolved light years ahead anything humans had ever dreamed of becoming. Upon infusion into lab subjects, the subjects evolved as well, both animal and human. Humans now had abilities, abilities that could control the elements, warp time, and even control the cycle of life and death. Mankind was changing. The Mages became fearful, as some found their own powers weakening. It seemed like things could only get worse. And then they did.
And then they did.
A traitor rose in their midst.
The Blocker, the weakest and strongest Mage, is mortal. The power of this Mage, unlike all others, is not flashy. A Blocker can go an entire life without knowing about the abilities within him or her. The Blocker cancels all magic that the Mages posses. The Blocker makes Mages mortal. The Blocker is the only being that can make the death of a Mage possible. Beyond their own magic, Blockers never see the true abilities of the Mages.
Or so it was thought.
But now that has changed.
The current Blocker witnessed the superhumans in person. Te Blocker knew what these abilities were. But, the Blocker did not care. Magic meant power. The Blocker had an idea. He went to Star Masses Health co., told them about the Mages, and created a plan.
He would reveal their existence.
He struck for Times Square.
During a live television interview for CNN, the Blocker spotted another Mage, Writer. He cancelled her magic. Her true appearance was revealed, her large black wings on display for all who were watching. She panicked and fled the scene. But, footage was caught of her flying away from the scene.
The Mages were now exposed.
The humans called for their extermination.
The Blocker is leading the humans.
Now, the Mages are forced to fight.
Which only leaves one question for you.
What is your side?

Rules:
-Pokemon Crossroads Rules
-Below is a list of the basic mages, but I'm more than willing to accept ideas for other ones, so feel free to ask
-Not too strict on roleplaying etiquette, but since this does has the potential to have a lot of characters, I think having a header with the character's name, their location, what Mage they are, and affected role players might be necessary.
-No god-modding, mini-modding, etc.
-No bunnying unless absolutely necessary
-No OP characters, but it is reasonable to assume that the older the character is, the more powerful they will be compared to newer characters
-PG-15, try to keep it in that area. Profanity is allowed but not encouraged. Gore can occur but nothing like innards spilling everywhere. Romance is allowed, but keep the explicit stuff out of the forum.
-Be nice to all role players!
-If you're going to do OOC chat, put it in double parenthesis above your header. I don't discourage it because some of the most fun I've had in roleplays was a direct result of OOC chat.
-Character limit? If you think there is one then you've obviously never heard my famous roleplaying stories that originate from my old years on PF1. But try to treat the characters with equal attention.
-I'd prefer it if everyone was active, but life can get in the way. I get that. So if you're going to disappear or something, try to let us know.
-Got a suggestion? Send it my way! I don't bite… hard.
- AWA1997 is co-owner and has the same powers this thread as I do. If you don't feel comfortable asking me something then please go to him about it.

Q&A:What is reincarnation and how does it work?
Well, the way it works is, whenever a Mage dies, they go to the Underworld as spirits, their bodies usually vanishing in ways that can be attributed to their elements, like fire Mages crumple to ashes and such. However, the powers that are the source of their elements remain behind. It usually is a ball of energy with a color corresponding to their element, but since very few living Mages have actually witnessed the reincarnation process themselves, and the Fate Mages won't tell, no one's really sure what it actually looks like.
Nevertheless, usually it is the job of the Fate Mage to deliver the powers of a dead Mage to the next Mage in line. However, the next Mage in line may not be alive at the time. Mages can go hundreds, even thousands, of years without being reincarnated. However, all the Fate Mage has to do is touch the powers to the next host and the person instantly becomes a Mage.
This is not the only way for a new Mage to receive their powers though. There are two other methods. The first one is by designation method. In this, a Mage sets up a sort of will, by drawing out and destroying a specific symbol that represents their powers, they can set up their successor, or the next individual to receive their powers. As soon as the Mage dies, the powers will transfer themselves on their own to the new host. This can be seen due to the symbol of the powers showing up in the new host's eyes for a few hours following the power transfer. While rare, this has happened in several cases across history.
The final method is the rarest and can only really occur with one type of Mage. Due to the fact that Fate Mages are usually the ones to transfer the powers between Mages, when a Fate Mage dies, there is no one to escort their powers. Thus, Fate Mages must always ensure they have a child before they die. While not difficult, due to the fact that they know exactly when they will die, it can be a bit of a hassle. This method requires no symbol and is also an automatic transfer. When the Fate Mage dies, the powers automatically move to the eldest child of the Fate Mage.

My forms:
Name: Araxie Scripture
Age: 4015
Species (witch/wizard or human): witch
Element: writing
Appearance: http://i.imgur.com/vIlI9v2.png
Araxie is about 5’5 height-wise and 130 pounds weight-wise. She is very light on her feet, often skipping and moving on the balls of her feet when she does walk around. Araxie prefers to keep her golden hair in twin braids, but is not opposed to trying new styles. She does have a pair of black wings, but she can make them disappear at will, so it is rare for mortals to see her wings. Her usual style is boots and a dress, but Araxie loves to wear jeans, finding them very comfortable, so it is not uncommon to see her sporting a t-shirt with jeans either.
Image created by Yoh-An on DeviantArt and permission of use granted by them as well. What abilities does your character have:
-Araxie can make her wings disappear at will.
-Araxie can write a word in the air in any language (dead or alive) and summon whatever the word meant. However, this can only be done with one word at a time, it drains Araxie’s energy quite easily, and takes quite a deal of her concentration for her to keep hold and control of whatever she has summoned. As such, if she tires, loses concentration, or even attempts more than one word at a time, whatever she has summoned will vanish.
-Araxie can write commands onto pieces of paper, forcing whatever she writes to come true. As such, she tends to work with the current Time mage to make sure the flow of time does not go haywire. Araxie doesn't like to use this power very much though, as she's afraid it will cause more consequences than she intends.
-She can summon ravens at will to deliver and receive messages for her.
Personality:A generally optimistic character, you can always count on Araxie to lighten the mood of any moment. She hates it when those around her become depressed, and always does her best to cheer them up. Araxie loves to listen to music and will always listen to it when she wants to write her stories. Araxie spends most of her time writing, as its her favorite hobby. Araxie has written many book series under a variety of different pseudonyms, becoming a best seller on multiple occasions. Still, the fame never goes to her head. As long as there are people to enjoy her gifts, Araxie is happy. She's also a devout Catholic. No one's sure why, but, when asked, she explains it as, "St. Francis de Sales is my patron saint, and I cannot betray a man such as he."
Siding with Mages or Humans: Mages
Crush: open

Name: Arian Black
Age: original (has always existed)
Species (witch/wizard or human): wizard
Element: Enchanter
Appearance: Arian has long flowing silver hair, usually kept back into a ponytail that sinks to his shoulder blades. He is tall, about 6’5 and weights about 190 pounds. Arian is Caucasian, with skin somewhat pale due to his lack of spending time outside very much. Arian also has a collection of symbols and swirls tattooed in a ring around his neck. He refuses to tell anyone what they mean. Arian prefers long sleeved shirts and pants with boots, which results in visitors to his cabin often finding him in his worn hiking boots, brown trousers, and green button down shirt.
What abilities does your character have:-Is able to collect blood and tissue samples from Mages in their true forms without hurting the Mages
-Is able to infuse ordinary objects with these samples to give the items the abilities of the Mages
Ex. A fire staff can summon and control fire
Personality: Arian, or Enchanter as some call him, is a wise man. He is one of the few originals remaining in the universe and often scolds the other Mages for close calls with the humans. So when it was he that initially exposed the Mages, Enchanter didn't show his face for a little while. He usually goes around collecting samples from Mages, trading blood for any items he has on him. He takes special requests, but it'll cost more blood and tissue samples than any items he has with him.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Neutral
Crush: open

Name: Jude Audrey
Age: 28
Species (witch/wizard or human): wizard
Element: Fate
Appearance:A short male, only about 5'2 and weighing in at 150 pounds, Jude tends to try and blend into the background. He is usually seen wearing blacks, whites, and grays, with camouflage not being uncommon either due to both his parents serving in the military. He is African-American and has a nice military cut hair style. Jude has a strong build, despite his size, as he is constantly seen training for the military. He has brown eyes and black hair, plus a tattoo of an hourglass on the backs of his hands.
What abilities does your character have:-Can jump to any time
-is in charge of keeping the time stream of this universe on course
-can alter history and remember the effects even after the time reset has occurred
-Automatic power transfer to child upon his death
Personality: Jude is mostly quiet. He doesn't like to talk and has been labeled by many as bashful. Jude is especially awkward around women. Despite having lived almost three decades, the entity of women still confuse him. It doesn't help that the person he has to work with to keep the time stream on course is also female. Nevertheless, Jude is a kind man at heart. Despite him being one of the newest Mages, Jude realizes his role is important and tries to do the best course of action that results in the least amount of people getting hurt. However, due to Jude rough childhood, he has no tolerance for abusive parents or bullies, and is shown to has a nasty temper around these characters.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Mages
Crush: open

Name: Elisabeth Scarlet
Age: 21
Species (witch/wizard or human): super human (female)
Element: Blood
Appearance: Elisabeth is a tall woman, roughly 6 foot. She has long black hair that reaches her shoulder blades and piercing blue eyes. She is usually seen wearing blood red clothes, with the exception of her shoes always being black. Her eyes also turn red upon her powers activating.
What abilities does your character have:Due to her being super human, Elisabeth has two abilities that she can use:
-She can use her own blood and turn it into any weapon that she wishes
-She can somewhat control others through their own blood, but this is taxing and is usually reserved as a last resort
Personality:Elisabeth is a power hungry woman that just wishes to rule the world someday. As such, upon receiving a tissue transplant that gave her the power to practically control people, her ego and greed grew. She will stop at nothing to get what she wants and will destroy anyone that gets in her way.

I only have one finished, I'll edit my others into my post when I have the time.

Name: Alma Breya
Age: Original (Always existed)
Species (witch/wizard or human): Witch
Element: Spirit
Appearance: Alma stands at approximately 5'5", weighs approximately 134 pounds, has bright blue eyes and light brown hair that she keeps shoulder length. She is somewhat pale, but not to a great degree, and tends to wear plain t-shirts that are a little big for her and shorts that fit a bit loosely so as not to restrict movement at all.
What abilities does your character have:
Ability to see into people's souls, which she can do from any direction, but is easiest through the eyes.
Can read emotions to a small degree through aura reading.
Helps the Death Mage gather the souls of the dead, as well as helping the Life Mage by aiding the return of a dead soul to its body.
Personality: Alma is a very free spirit who wants to help anyone and anyone, and often supplies the Enchanter with blood and tissue to allow him to create more items in his labs. She is very difficult to distress in any way, but can also be easily distracted by the smallest things. When the lab was raided, her powers were some of the first to start weakening as more and more people were infused with them. Despite her usual carefree nature, she began to panic when she couldn't see the soul of someone staring straight into her eyes for a whole two seconds.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Mages/Neutral (She tries to stay out of it for the most part, but when she does end up involved, it's on the Mages' behalf.)
Crush: Open

Name: Alex James
Age: 30
Species (witch/wizard or human): Blocker
Element: Blocker
Appearance: Alex is about 6'0", but aside from his height, nothing stands out about him. He has average-looking black hair, average-looking brown eyes, and an average-looking build for his height. And he spent most of his life feeling just as average as he looked.
What abilities does your character have: Passively blocks all mage powers in the area. However, magic used by humans can still get through.
Personality: Growing up and knowing that he was nothing special, Alex didn't expect much out of life. However, one day someone came to him and explained how he was the most important member of a group known as Mages. This news allowed a spark to enter him, but it was not a spark of joy that he wasn't alone, but rather one of jealousy of the powers the others had. The only thing that stopped him from sparking the same jealousy and hatred in others was the fact that the Mages kept themselves hidden, which stopped being an issue when the Enchanter messed up. He used this chance to start his revenge, and immediately showed the world what was really happening right under their noses.
(Yes, I know this was background, but it also fit in his entire personality.)
Siding with Mages or Humans: Humans
Crush: Open, but likely not in the group of Mages or any Mage-sympathizers.

Name: Dagan Dimitris
Age: 25
Species (witch/wizard or human): Superhuman
Element: Earth
Appearance: Dagan stands at 5'9" and weighs in at 190 pounds. He is of African descent and has pitch black hair that he keeps cleanly cut. He is muscular and works hard to keep his body in peak shape,
What abilities does your character have: He can shift small chunks of earth at will and, to a degree, cause plant growth (mainly grass and small flowers). He can do this all without much issue, but doing it on a larger scale forces him to use a comparable amount of his own energy to pull of the task. The small chunks of Earth, however, can be picked up and thrown/placed one right after another with no energy drainage.
Personality: Dagan is a kind man who doesn't care about controversy, staring it in the face and walking past without a second glance. However, when he gained the power to create some form of life by focusing his mind, and the subsequent news report on the Mages, he jumped in, knowing that, no matter how dangerous these things seemed, they couldn't all be bad, if even any of them were.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Mages

I'm loving the story line behind this RP, sound like just the kind of thing humankind would do when discovering previously unknown powers/cultures. Can I reserve the Music Element? I'd post my character now, but there are a few kinks I need to work out.

Name: Rowan Summers
Age: 3715
Species (witch/wizard or human): Wizard
Element: Music
Appearance: Rowan is Short, only 5"1' tall. He has dirty blonde hair and bright green eyes. He is is usually found wearing a dark green T-Shirt with silver/gray track pants. Every now and then he'll get dressed up in a fancy suit, but that's rare these days. When colder weather comes around, he'll wear a sky blue hoodie, usually unzipped, over his T-shirt. Rowan is slightly tanned and uses contacts. His two special keepsakes are his necklace, which holds a silver music note, and his self made flute, the only real instrument he possess.
What abilities does your character have:
Rowan has 2 powers:
Instrument summoning- He can summon a ghostly form of any instrument and play it as if it was real. He can do 2 or 3 at once, but since he can't generally play more than 1 at a time he sticks to one.
Emotional Music- Rowan can send out feelings and emotions through his music, causing his target to feel a certain emotion or feeling. He can make a person feel everything from love to pain to suicide. (This last one he refuses to do) The longer he can play his music the stronger this power will become, and singing can increase it twice as fast.
Personality: Rowan is a peaceful person who wishes no ill on anyone. He is playful and not very serious, even when under attack. Dancing and singing is his solution to almost every problem he comes across. While he is a very kind and friendly person, he has trouble expressing himself outside of his music, and will even become shy at times. When he plays his music however, he'll open up to anyone, as playing music for others to enjoy is what he loves to do most. He has spent many years happily playing music for Araxie to help her writing, though he will usually travel alone.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Neutral, but is more sympathetic to the mages.
Crush: He has admired Araxie silently.

Gaster HERE SHE IS

Name: Kora Lolita
Age: 250
Species (witch/wizard or human): Witch
Element: Shadow
Appearance: Kora has solid black hair with silver that shimmers as she walks. She has vibrant green eyes and peach skin filled with life. She has a sweet smile when she wants it, but it can also be quite nasty when she is out for the kill. She is not very tall but she makes up for it by wearing tall heels so that she is only slightly shorter than Kitana. She always wears specially made black dresses that show off her legs quite well. She also wears silver bangles on both wrists. She tries to dress as sexily as possible in order to attract Kitana's attention.
What abilities does your character have: She can travel via shadows, no matter how small or big. She can also create familiars and weapons from shadows merely from a thought. She can also bend the shadows to her will, using them as her eyes, ears, and force to bend others to her will if necessary. The only way to contain her is to shroud her in total and complete darkness.
Personality: Kora is a unique individual. For the most part she seems sweet and nice. She likes to make people think she is caring and loving, when it reality she's as cold as they come. Kora only has a soft spot for one individual, Kritana. Otherwise, you should know if she is being nice to you, it is because she wants something from you. She is either trying to get something from you or trying to persuade you to support her beliefs. If you resist, she will unleash her shadows on you, and they are well known in the mage community for being terrifying beasts that devour anything standing in Kora's way. Kora loves the fear and feeds on it. She always seeks more. She only restrains herself at the command of Kritana, for whom she is constantly obedient for. She calls it love, but whether or not this is true is debatable.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Neutral unless Kitana dictates otherwise, but she is on the edge of her seat, ready to terrify the humans first chance she gets.
Crush: She considers herself Kitana's one and only, whether he realizes it or not.

Name: Marx hunfry (pronounced hun-free)

Age: 28

Species (witch/wizard or human): Wizard, but posing as superhuman.

Element: FIRE!

Appearance: Marx is tall, at somewhere around 5'10". His skin is very pale and his eyes, which are gray, seem to burn with some kind of hidden flame. His coal black hair is messy and uncombed. He wears skinny jeans and a black T-shirt that only makes him look even more skinny. On his finger is a golden ring with a pattern of flame on its edges. His long arms and fingers are always moving. (he hates standing still) and his smile gives anyone who sees it the distinct impression he's not quite sane.

What abilities does your character have: Marx can create fire at a direct ratio to the energy he put in. If he uses a litle energy, he creates little fire. If he uses more energy, he can make a lot of fire or make the fire burn extremely hot. If he uses enough energy (which is a crazy amount) he can make a ton of white hot fire that could melt metal. His internal fire protects him from both burns and the cold.

Personality: Marx is not completely sane. He enjoys messing with others and will often go too far if someone doesn't intervene. A lover of winning, he will always side himself with the people he thinks are the strongest or the most likely to win. This is why he decided to pose as a superhuman to side with the humans, who he thinks will destroy the mages due to overwhelming numbers. Thanks to his mad prankster way of thinking, he does not work well under authority, especially when they try to control him. He wishes to be just as free and as uncontrollable as his element. Also, he has an odd passion for roasted marshmallows and will always have a bag of the sweets with him to cook and munch on.

Oh, yay, this RP's psychopath is a pyromaniac with pyro-kinesis. This'll be interesting.

The OP insane ones? I mean Pyro from S2C, Tony from Skyfall, Allan from Servants... Ok, I've had a number of OP ones, with the only redeeming factor in their OP-ness being that they fight it off rather than embrace it.

AWA1997

They're semi-insane. Remember, Tony goes completely insane on occasions due to his werepyre side, and Allan can lose control very easily if he absorbs too much energy, just like any other Osmosian (Kevin, Agreggor, etc.).

All this talk of insaneness makes me want to make evil knowing smiles and cackle. Besides, Marx isn't completely insane, he's just... wild. He doesn't really follow rules and generally will only follow the few that he made up himself. Besides, if your worried about any OPness, I can put out a list of weaknesses for both him and Rowan.

As for the fact that his element is fire, that's because fire goes so well with crazy people. (submits to desire and makes an evil grin) My fires will spread until the heat will make you wish for hell's pitiful embers.

AWA1997
09-07-2015, 03:21 AM
XD No, it's fine, you don't have to list weaknesses. I mean, this is basically a 'Mythological gods vs. modern day mortals' RP, there's going to be a degree of OPness with the 'gods'. And, aside from the Blocker, the main 'weaknesses' would all be in the mental capacity. This RP let's you have fun with characters that, by design, would be OP, but are slowly losing their OPness.

The reason I mentioned the 'psychopath' part is that it seems like every RP has at least one semi-or-completely insane character.

Noblejanobii

Or a semi-psycotic roleplayer, which I usually fill that role.

Morzone
09-07-2015, 03:45 AM
Well its not RP if there isn't at least one rather extreme or unhinged character in the lineup. To be honest, when I first read the story it reminded me of the X-Men movie where the mutants and the humans were fighting over one kid mutant who could remove mutant powers. By giving the humans a "mutant antidote" he basically allowed for a war/manhunt to start between them. I never truly watched it, but I've seen enough snippets to get the idea.

AWA1997
09-07-2015, 03:54 AM
Hm... I haven't seen that one, but that plot does sound like this one.

Honestly, we were just spitballing ideas because we wanted to make five different RPs with this concept. We had one before this, I made my own site to contain information about the five and any others that may come in fanfiction form, and we're making this one. The other three go on another site on the PG-13, PG-15, and Mature boards respectively, as soon as Noble/Jan/whatever you call her here is allowed on the Mature board.

I'm a little surprised that more people aren't joining this, but they'll show up. It's a good plot that could easily go in any direction and there's plenty of room for a lot of people. I always feel weird about advertising RPs in other threads, but I've never been good at that kind of thing.

Apart from Neo, none really. Though that's more from the fact that I'm still pretty new here and don't know many people.

I do have a question about the rp start though. I know that it won't start until we get more people, but I'm just wondering. Is the RP going to start with the scene in Times Square or will it start some time after the hunt for the mages has started? I'm assuming the humans know who all the mages are thanks to blocker, since the only one the public has really seen is Writer.

I was thinking after the scene in Times Square but I'd be more than happy to write the scene just for kicks.

As for the Blocker… I'd assume he'd give pictures/physical descriptions of everyone but I'm not his controller so that's not my call.

Name: Nicolas "Nick" Flamel.
Age: 685
Species (witch/wizard or human): Wizard
Element: Alchemy
Appearance:
Nick has a slightly tan body and is shorter than average, given the fact that he got his powers after he stopped growing. He stands at about 5' even, has messy hair, the color of which he changes periodically, and amber eyes. He does not have one set style of clothing, or anything for that matter, given his attitude of constant change, but usually sports either a lab coat when in his lab.
What abilities does your character have:
Nick has the ability to change one material into another and/or reshape the atoms and molecules of a substance to create a specific item made of said material. However, this ability is not without flaw. It must be physically possible for the substance to exist, so fictional substances are impossible for him to use, so Adamantium is a no-go, and the total mass of the object is impossible to alter. (So, an object with an atomic mass of 20 is transformed into an object with an atomic mass of 40, but becomes half the size and vise versa.)
Also, since this power does not rely on his magic to keep the object in reality once it's created, anything he makes can be used against the Blocker with no lack of effectiveness.
Personality:
Nick is a studious man who seeks to balance magic and science so that the Mages can enter the public eye without backlash. However, when the Mages were revealed, his work went down the toilet and he knew it. He cracked open his book on creating certain objects through alchemy, passed on from incarnation to incarnation, so that he could help try to put the fight at a standstill as early as possible.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Neutral, trying to halt the war.
Crush: Open.

Name: Barnie Sumner
Age: 5362
Species (witch/wizard or human): wizard
Element: Space
Appearance: Barnie is short as he is only about 4'6" with eyes that seem to glimmer like twinkling stars. His hair often changes color, but it is subtle and hard to notice until it is completely different from what it was. He wears a Hawaiian shirt and khakis with the pockets separate dimensions, so they hold more than possible.
What abilities does your character have: he can teleport anything including himself to any destination he chooses as long as he can in vision it and create portals he can view with. He can also warp space with pocket dimensions that he often uses for storage.
Personality: He is extremely fond of humans and finds their behavior amusing. Which is the only reason he is siding with them in the first place, but since the mages were his first family he is also with them. He acts very detached from the others since he is posing as a superhuman which is not to difficult as those that suspect him think they can take him down due to his size.
Siding with Mages or Humans: Both, he has decided to play devil's advocate.

Sam, we were supposed to just make a new thread, that's why I asked about bumping rules. Jan just hasn't seen the response she got yet.

So, ah, I just happened to be passing through when I saw unfamiliar usernames posting.

It appears your friend asked someone else, however things work a tad differently on the RP boards in regards to thread bumping and what we consider "necroposting." If multiple people intend to pick up a RP again (which appears to be the case here), we usually don't require new threads be posted, so if everyone wanted to, you could keep using this thread. If the RP creator/group would prefer to start fresh, you're also welcome to do that, but it's not a requirement, and it won't get anyone in trouble, since more than one person intends to start back up where things were left.

If anyone here happens to have any other questions about the RP boards, feel free to contact me or Saraibre Ryu in the future (I promise we don't bite...much... Just kidding, I swear!) and happy RPing~

Yeah, Jan, Sam (Awasfriend), and I are all on another site and Jan was going to update me on the rules about it when she knew them herself because she, I, and possibly Morzone wanted to get this RP up and running, we didn't know Sam would be jumping in as well.

I'll admit, I've made quite a few visits to this RP, but had trouble really trying to wrap my mind around using a character that could fit into it (though it is a good RP storyline!). Also, I've had questions poking around in my mind, leading up to being indecisive about this the whole time. Since it doesn't seem like the Postal Xpress Railway RP is going to happen, I'll give this one my best shot.

I'd like to reserve Life magic, but would that be kind of like holy magic that a cleric/white mage would use, or is that more like nature magic that's along the lines of a druid?

Also, the big question I've been having a tough time with is in the storyline, the revealing incident took place at Times Square, so does that make New York City the setting of the RP? I'm not sure what location the RP is going to focus on, which makes it a bit tough for me to get started.

Noblejanobii
02-02-2016, 05:52 AM
Well, let's see where to begin… hm…

Well Life Magic is more along the lines of a Druid. In the past when AWA1997 and I have spoken on this it was more of they could create life just by touching an inanimate object, they are the reason that the mages are immortal and heal whenever they are injured, they can kill someone just by wrenching all the life force out of them, etc. It is the actual sense of life itself instead of like earth and plants or holiness. But feel free to interpret it and play with it as you wish. Don't feel like you have to stick to models we have already set, because it's always fun to have a new take on these sorts of things.

The storyline takes place on Earth as a whole. While we might focus on certain primary locations, the roleplay as a whole will take place wherever the Mages are on Earth or in any separate dimensions that this includes (for example, in the past we've had Life and Death have their dimensions where they are separate from the universe earth is in). It's really a roleplay that's more free form style so we're always open to ideas and we encourage craziness to ensue.

AWA1997
02-02-2016, 06:03 AM
Yeah, this will be the third form of this RP to actually become active, and we had some success with the other two by setting general rules on Mage behavior, but allowing for them to do practically anything at the same time. For instance, want to break off and do your own side story? Go ahead! Want to stick with the main story, no problem. Just have fun with it.

See, told ya I'd have this up soon. :)

Name: Tyler White
Age: Original (Always Existed)
Species: Wizard
Element: Life

Appearance: Standing 6'2" while weighing about 175 pounds, Tyler has a fair to tan skin tone with short, brown hair and brown eyes. He also always appears to be incredibly healthy and youthful, seemingly always appearing to be 25 years old even though he's ageless.

Tyler, as always, wears clothing and attire attuned to the current time period, so in today's day and age, he has been wearing a white fleece jacket and blue jeans with white sneakers. He knows as time goes by, he'll have to keep up with the latest, silly fashions humans have to blend in, but he does it.

Tyler has no scars or markings of injuries mainly because of his powers. So, he has clear skin, perfect teeth, and looks clean and would probably ace a job interview just on charismatic looks alone, although his fearless personality helps a lot with the way others perceive him.

What abilities does your character have:

Lifegiving - Tyler has the power to give life and sentience to any object, giving life to statues, giving machines and inanimate objects a life and mind of their own. These objects become his loyal disciples and will serve Tyler to their deaths or until Tyler dismisses the life out of them after the conflict or the task they were intended for has been resolved. As a result, humans that attempt to fight them, even on a military level, will find themselves in serious trouble when they find even their own tanks, firearms, and equipment turn against them.
Healing - Allows Tyler to heal all wounds from the mere scratches, cuts, scrapes, and then even the more serious stuff like broken bones and grave lacerations all the way up to near-death injuries and trauma situations. He does this by using a process that reverses the infliction of damage to flesh and bone by restoring the living creature's state before the injury took place, resulting in a process that's more like a reversal of time. In the same way, Tyler can reverse the aging process.
Resurrection - This power includes being able to revive anyone or anything that has been killed. Given, he respects the duties of the Fate and Death mages and tends to use this power only on fellow mages and wildlife when he feels their deaths were unfairly and unjustly delivered. He often resurrects dead roadkill animals and as a pastime, resurrects animals that were killed in hunting. Watching the hunter's reaction to this and the animal's retribution is something he finds hilarious.
Lifestrip - The polar opposite to Resurrection, Tyler can strip the life out of a living creature, but he can only use it on one target at a time, one per minute. Therefore, he wouldn't be able to mass-kill an entire army instantly if they attacked him. He also doesn't like resorting to this unless as a last resort, simply because he thinks it's cheap and he'd rather resort to his other powers unless they really deserved it.
Shapeshifting - Tyler can transform himself into any living creature as long as it actually exists in some kind of context he's familiar with. For example, he can become an actual living creature such as a lion, an eagle, or a grizzly bear, or becoming something out of fantasy, such as a dragon, a griffon, or a phoenix. The only drawback is that in these new forms, he's inexperienced with their own powers and abilities, so him trying to fight this way, especially after only just freshly transforming, may be somewhat comically sloppy. But things like becoming an unsuspecting bird or squirrel to spy on humans is something that's easy for him.

Personality: Nonchalant, cool, and collected, Tyler hasn't felt fear or anxiety for eons. He's seen generations of humans come and go, and still finds their behavior comical given their lives are so short that they're worried about stupid things like money, disease, or depression. And then there's the other even stupider things like failing school exams, cold coffee, losing sports teams, and computer problems that Tyler is just baffled how anyone could ever get upset about given how much more there is to life. Often strolling through cities, Tyler does it mainly to amuse himself with what new things humans will get obsessed about before dropping them for something else.

Tyler is still responsible with his powers and doesn't go totally nuts with them. He does, however, have his own boundaries and doesn't overstep them. Potentially, he could go into a hospital and cure every last human inside of it or attend a funeral and resurrect the dead, but he knows the Death and Fate mage would get on his case about it. So he's well-aware of the cycle of life and knows life isn't meant to last forever.

The rather humiliating revealing of the mages and the fact humans have called for their extermination made Tyler drop the very last shreds of respect he had for humans, especially how quick they are to result to fighting, combat, and war. He felt they were a bit stupid before, but now he knows they've definitely gone off the edge into insanity.

Siding with Mages or Humans: Mages

Crush: Open, but only with female mages, as he's heterosexual and really doesn't like humans.

I do see one problem with your character, though, but it's not your mistake or anything actually to do with the character itself, especially since none of us mentioned this. We've recently started making timelines for our multiple universes of this RP, and depending on how we want to do the origin story for the universe, the devotion may be an issue. But, until we get to the point of making the timeline, it's fine and you don't have to change it.

Yeah! Submissions are totally still open! Sorry btw, I do realize my form is a bit weak, I could probably make it better, but I want to get in on this before the story gets too far. Hopefully it's good enough and there aren't any gaping holes or major issues.

Name: Osias Dryton
Age: 117,876
Species (witch/wizard or human): Wizard
Element: Storm

Appearance: Osias is about six feet tall. He has short and straight brown hair with green eyes. He has a fairly average build, but is a bit on the more muscular side. His skin is light with a slight tan colour. He appears to be somewhere in his early twenties. His clothing varies greatly, but it is usually something extravagant, containing expensive clothes and jewelry. When blending in is absolutely essential, he will occasionally forgo this extravagance and dress in something more common for the area. Most often, this means a hoodie with jeans.

What abilities does your character have: Osias can create storms at will. While this power is impractical for use in combat due to the amount of time it takes to gather clouds and create a storm large enough to do damage, given an hour, Osias could create a storm large enough to knock down trees and damage buildings. This storm would be confined to a small area though, and Osias himself must be somewhere within the area (although not necessarily near its center), or it will begin to lose energy and eventually disperse. He can also cause lightning to strike a location, but there must first be sufficient cloud cover, and on a clear day, it can take him several minutes to create enough clouds. his only other ability that could be used as a weapon is creating sudden gusts of powerful winds, but without first creating a storm, the winds will only last for a few seconds.

Personality: Osias He came into being ((Are mage’s born similarly to humans, or are they created?)) In the early days of modern humans. He has always been fascinated by them, and enjoys manipulating them for no reason other than his own amusement. As complex societies began to come into being, several times he worked his way into positions of leadership. What Osias loves more than anything is power. He thinks himself as above other mages, even knowing that there are ones older and more powerful than him. He rarely goes out of his way to interact with other mages, only doing so when they come to him, or for matters of extreme importance. Rather than wisdom, only arrogance has come to him with the years. Having lived through most of human existence, he has come to hate today's society, and his interest in humans has become increasingly sadistic.

No reason, that's just how it's been so far.

Accepted.

We haven't discussed the born/created thing for this RP, but on other sites we've done this with, the originals for Life and Death were just there, the rest of the originals were either created by the Life Mage, came from a split of another Mage's powers, or were 'hybrid' Mages (there were some special circumstance ones, but not many). The reincarnations were born as humans and gained their powers after their births (either directly after their birth, or many years later, but never before their birth). But, again, this may not be true here because we haven't discussed this yet.

Name: Kritana Sephtis
Age: Original
Species (witch/wizard or human): Wizard
Element: Death
Appearance: Kritana is a tall man with dark eyes, dark brown, almost black hair, and a surprisingly nice-looking tan considering he rarely leaves the underworld. He wears custom-made suits and dress shoes.
What abilities does your character have: He can kill anyone with a single touch, though Mages take more energy to kill, draining him for about a day after killing one. He can send bolts of black lightning at people to kill them at a distance, with the same limits as killing by touch and a sharp drop in accuracy after 5 feet. He is also the only live person with constant access to the underworld. (May add more later.)
Personality: Kritana is a perfectionist. Everyone has a time to die, a place to die, and a reason to die that is not supposed to ever change. When these things do change, he immediately assumes that Tyler is the cause and confronts him about it. And he always catches when something isn't right as he and a few underlings watch everyone who dies enter and has them check off their names on a list and double check their own cause of death. And even though he seems like a perfect gentleman on first sight, his bad side is not a place you want to be on.
Siding with Mages or Humans: He won't get involved unless people die who shouldn't or people don't die who should.

So, now we have a Shadow Mage that works as the Death Mage's underling.

The funny thing is, I can draw similarities between her and a Mage from the NW RP's backstory who has practically the opposite personality to her.

Both like Death
Both will obey him no matter what
Both feel like nobody else is good enough for Death
Death doesn't really care for them any more than anyone else
Both had at least a degree of murder in them.

But, they aren't the same.

One sees herself as Death's one and only, the other thinks nobody is good enough for him, not even her.
One actively tries to get Death to pay attention to her, the other would be happy to just do small things to make him happy.
One would kill unless told not to by Death, one would refrain from killing unless told to by Death.

Species (witch/wizard or human): Witch

Appearance:

What abilities does your character have: She can control any forms of water, which includes the cells of the human body, enabling her to cause them to burst killing the person, though she never wants to do that again. She also possesses the ability to calm and agitate bodies of water, including the ocean.
Personality: Brooke is usually calm like the water she was named after, but can change like the Huáng Hé if she feels threatened. So often stays near water where human activity doesn't pose as much of a threat.
