Meeting internet people in real life

Have you guys ever met up in real life with someone you met online? How did it go? When you met them, did it feel like you already knew them?

I've met up with quite a few people now and every time has been a positive experience. They were all people I had known for a few years at least, and in most cases, we got on really well and there was no awkwardness, which was a pleasant surprise because I am quite shy!

Some of these were quite a few years ago now, before video chatting or even facebook were that popular. Thankfully no one turned out to be a catfish. xD

I've never actually done this, though sometimes I wonder what it's like. Most of the time the reason is because that person is too far away.

I met two people who lived quite far away but near a spot where I would vacation frequently. We went to the zoo, the mall, ate sushi and watched Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs in theatres, if that gives you any hint how long ago this was. It was fun because even if they had been total strangers I can make fast friends with anyone who wants to watch Ice Age and eat Japanese!

I have met Pokemon Trainer Sarah, Suicune's Fire, Lunar Latias and DHPflareon. they are okay, I guess...

It was really cool meeting them. Xanthe and I met up as we had known each other for years and I had recently moved two streets away from her, and knew nobody in the area. I met Sarah at the Melbourne Regionals last year when we decided to do a mini PXR meet up. I met Gemma at Xanthe's 21st, and met DHP when he was staying at Xanthe's place, so we all decided to hit up the shops.

I have also met Brettles, but I knew him before he joined, as he was my IT teacher in year 12 haha

Yep, I've met DHPflareon, Comatose, Pokemon Trainer Sarah, Lunar Latias and Salacberry, who doesn't really frequent the site. xD She was around on Pe2k though. I'm trying to think if there's anyone else I've met up with, but I think that's it. I met up with someone from DeviantART one day though, because I went across the country for a wedding and she lived in that state. I went to the Pokemon Symphonic Evolutions concert with Comatose last Friday, actually. xD He's the one I've seen the most. Although as he said, DHP did stay with me for a month last year. Lol. Video chatting doesn't count as meeting, but I have done so with Trainer17 back in the day. xD In...2008 or something.

I've met Ray and Bron...and I think that's it from pxr? I've met other people from other places online before. For the most part it's positive, but sometimes you just...aren't in the same wavelength. lol

Oh, except Neo. Neo doesn't want to come hang in the city. :P

Anyone from here? Nope. Not yet at least. From elsewhere (my old forum that seems to have died recently other than a lone few people posting every now and then). Yeah, but only one while I was in Florida during that summer. Was only able to meet him while he was at his job though, so I didn't wanna keep him distracted. So it was more awkward than it should have been. He looked familiar, yet not as similar as his FB picture was. Which is why I probably passed by him the first time lol.

No, I haven't! But I plan to one day try to meet Kurosaki when I can get enough money to meet her. :) It's on my goals list for before I turn 21.

I almost met Jenn (3m0d0ll) when I went to California, but she had moved away from the town I was staying in a bit before...But that's the closest I've ever come, unless you count my brother, who joined PE2K before me (except it's possible I passed by Harry when I was in LA, but not likely lol). I'd love to meet some of you guys. :(

A few times! Once with someone I met through Neopets since I was passing by her area to meet my ex-boyfriend, the ex-boyfriend (ick), and my current boyfriend since we met on an MMORPG ha. I've had plenty of other opportunities but I'm pretty busy and also fairly shy so nothing's really happened yet but soon enough it'll definitely change. ;3 Even if I missed out on comic-con again this year..

Sometimes I get this weird feeling that someone I know on the internet is the same person as a person I know irl. Well, it's just a feeling I get, despite knowing how irrational that thought may be. Its just kind of a cool feeling; "what if someone I already know irl happens to be someone I've known on thr internet for a long time?"

I've always wanted to meet my online friends and I've come close once (we had planned to meet at Dragoncon but my parents wouldn't let me). However, I've skyped a few deviantart friends and it was great but we don't skype face to face much.

I do! I used to have a really good friend overseas, who I met through a cousin who had moved over there. I spoke to the friend a lot and sometimes I would kind of feel like she was my cousin. When my cousin would come home to visit, I'd have to remind myself that it wasn't her. Pretty odd. xD

I've met a few people who I knew online in real life. Most of them were more acquaintances—I met them at a con while I was with a friend who also knows and is friends with them—but a couple were people I considered friends. There are a few people I'd love to meet irl (hell, it'd be cool if the entire Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V cast in one of the RPs I'm in met, though that'd be difficult since we're all from at least four different countries...), but I don't live near any of them, alas :c
