It's been a while since I closed my last art thread, so I guess I'll make a new one. My stuff is nothing great, but I need to be active again and this will be a good place to start. Just drawn stuff, no pixel art for now. Some stuff is old, some stuff isn't. xD

Wow Neko! You're amazing! There are SO MANY cool pieces here!

I adore the Bulbasaur, Ivysaur and Venusaur! Especially the Ivysaur, there's just something about those eyes! <3

I love the effects on the Snivy and the beautiful colours! Your sunsets are beautiful.

I spy a fox! Foxes are awesome!!!

I love the background in the green glowy spirit dragon one! It's so detailed and you get a really good feel for the shape of the environment.

These are all so impressive! :)

Pardon the really late response. I sorta stopped checking for new responses after a few weeks. xD Haven't done much art lately either, so didn't see your post!

- Thanks. =D I need to finish the bulba line images. I need to get back to regular art in general.
- I made that Snivy for Speed. I love colorful stuff, so I may have gone a little crazy with that one. xD Sunsets are always fun though.
- Foxes are indeed awesome. She'll be a character in my upcoming original comic which I've been working on/off for ages now. Haven't officially started it since the previous reboot though.
- That was a concept art for an RP I was thinking of putting together, but between school, TPK, comic work, etc. I don't think I've got the time for it.

--

Anyway, new arts. Sort of. Some I just haven't posted.

Uwah. *o* You really love your dragons! I love your Sunrise/Nightfall stuff, Neko! It's amazing! I can totally see you've put a lot of effort into all these and your sketches are amazing. I so need to work more on my anatomy and original works. xD;;

May I ask what your original work (Sunrise/Nightfall) is about? O:

Am I hallucinating? Someone posting within a week of my post in one of my threads? Well... time to prepare for the end of the world. =D

--

Anyway- I do love my dragons. =D And my felines. Anatomy is a pain- I'm still pretty awful at it in a lot of situations, but I think I'm getting better. Daruh's anatomy has improved tons, anyway. xD

Sunrise and Nightfall are two stories that I've been working on for many many years. I've attempted to start them both at least once and have rebooted them both because I wasn't happy with them at the time. Sunrise is the written part of the story- the original portion that I started writing all those years ago. Nightfall is the comic prequel that I started when I first began arting (there's a good reason why I restarted it right there. xD) The two stories are back-to-back mostly with a 2-3 time year gap between them. I'm planning on making it so you don't need to read one to understand the other.

They're about... oh dear, where do I even start? Well, I guess setting- they take place in a fantasy world with no humans. All sorts of mythical and non-mythical animals/creatures populate the world. Not very technologically advanced- but they've got cities. And magic. Who needs technology when you've got magic? Anyway- magic is essential to the world as it's in a sense the lifeblood of the planet. Creatures can use one of twelve types of magic that they're born with, but don't necessarily need it to live.

Ohgawd, I'm awful at explaining this. How to explain without spoilers?

Anyway, Nightfall is currently in the process of a massive plot overhaul and such- and I mean massive. So little of this part of the original story remain intact.

I'll start with Sunrise then- easier that way.

Sunrise revolves around an amnesiac Nekomata named 'Neko' (my username comes from her, not the other way around, though that's not her real name). She works as a 'Dark Warrior' for Yugito during a civil war between Alnera (Yugito's forces) and a group of rebels who are (rightfully) not very happy with Yugito's ruling of the kingdom. The story follows her (and others) as she unknowingly re-unites with her sister and begins to question which side of the war she should be fighting for. In the process, they discover there's far more going on behind the scenes that is far bigger than either side realizes.

Nightfall, the prequel, is the events that lead up to the war. I'm still working out a ton of details, but the main cast is going to consist of the Royal Guard of Alnera (pre-war in much happier days) as they face the problem of magic (very) slowly depleting from the world. Not enough for individuals to be unable to use magic- but enough to really screw things up in the environments. Meanwhile, Daruh- a spirit elemental- is trying to prevent a catastrophe foretold in a prophecy he received after a painful encounter with a mysterious creature.

It's a mess right now- it's ALWAYS been a mess, but it's not as bad as it was. I'm horrible at explaining the plot in a summary form- but it feels great to finally be tying everything together in a very planned and organized manner. Right now, I'm focusing on Nightfall (since Sunrise will be effected by any changes) and doing craptons of world building cause the originals didn't have nearly enough of that. History, history, history. I have begun outlining the prologue and doing character concepts though.

RobinHoude officially became my partner in crime on this project sometime in the last year or so. =D It's been forever of scrapping ideas, re-thinking plots, and building on characters, but it's finally starting to come together. It may not be ready to formally start again anytime soon, but I think the story is in better shape than it's ever been right now. We officially began dumping all info on a site today, actually- cause going through skype logs for previously plotted things was getting difficult. I just wish I could properly explain things. xD

I've got some more concepts hashed out, but they're not clean enough for posting. xD

Edit: Robin says to link to the askblog and my Art blog. Ohdear. -hides face-

I'm your biggest fan as you already know <3 I just adore all your artwork Neko! I'd love to see your Sunrise/Nightfall project kick off :'3 Eagerly awaiting! I LOVE YOUR DRAGON DRAWINGS <3 But seriously, you've got a huge art talent and your style is really impressive and very beautiful :'3 I LOVE DARUH! Keep them coming, Neko, and do take a break from time to time. I can't draw art or appreciate to a certain extend, but I know quality work when I see one. You are exceptional! Brilliant art!!

P.s. your backstory on Nightfall/Sunrise reminds of me of Final Fantasy for some reason. I always thought two great countries waging war against each other is pretty much generic, until there's something very dark (at the middle and towards the end of the story). x3

xD It's been known to happen sometimes! *settles in to read text wall*

Well if it helps, your anatomy concerning dragons seems fine! I'm sure if I drew them as much as you did I'd be that great, too. Oooh, I see. So kinda like, one is a written story, and the prequel to that is in comic form? That's actually a pretty unique way of going about things. If it were me I'd probably just write both lol.

Indeed, who needs anything when you have magic. XD So you said it's got fantasy races, but did you create all/some of them? Or are you just adapting them? XD It does sound really interesting, though! And I love fantasy stuff.

Wooaaaaaah, that's so intense. xD Hey, if you ever need someone to proofread, or look over stuff (or if you've released anything new!) about the stories, I'd be totally happy to do so! You made Sunrise and Nightfall sound really cool! So I'm looking forward to the revamp, Neko. And I will check out those links! C:

Whoops- my bad. I'm prone to writing walls of text. xD Inner writer in me does that.

But yeah- dragon anatomy has come from lots and lots of practice. You should have seen how I drew them about a year and a half ago. Much improved since then. xD Sunrise was the first of the two I worked on. I started Nightfall because I had wanted to make a webcomic and decided why not. It was more of a in the moment thing- but I think I'm going to stick with it. xD I'd do both in comic form, but considering how long Sunrise is going to be, that'd probably kill me. I could do Nightfall written, but I do love what making it into a comic allows me to do with the story.

I'm adapting a good number of real animals/mythological creatures, but I've also made a few up along the way- mostly based on existing things but with my own spin on them. Still a lot to do. xD

Well, right now I've got Robin as my main proofreader/helper, but I certainly may look into getting more help in the future. I'm particularly looking for some art help since Nightfall is going to be pretty demanding. Colors are gonna take ages with the style that I'm planning on using. Right now, there's no goal for launch dates or anything. Just pre-production hell that just switched into the next gear of insanity. ='D

Trainer17

xD Beautiful art? Where? I've no idea what you're talking about. (Thanks so much! xD) I try really hard to make pretty stuff, but it's hard and I still need lots of work. As for Nightfall- no launch date ETA anytime soon- still so much pre-production to get done. I want so badly to jump into production, but I need to force myself to slow down and plan.

And yeah- I don't like straightforward plots. I love misleading nonsense and plot twists. I could never do a normal war- there's always going to be something else going on in the background or some greater goal of one side that the other isn't aware of. It's more interesting. =P Though, the main purpose of the war/true threat won't be revealed until late in Sunrise. So very far ahead from now.

Oh, it's totally cool. I like reading. xD

I'd love to create a web comic myself, but that would be a commitment and I seem to have a lot of trouble with those. My motivation usually dies about halfway through. Sad, really. Comics are great, because they rely a lot more on imagery and expression than words, and can allow you more variation. You can also express what anyone else is doing at a given time without having to write a single word about it. If your story's going to be complex and action packed, it would often be best written as a comic (visual) medium.

Awesome! I'm dabbling with my own creations in an original story I *hope* to publish one day. I really love creating my own creatures, it's so much fun! And you can do just about anything with them! The only thing is that if you end up giving them some kind of power, always make sure you don't go overboard, and balance that power out with a weakness. Can't have an OP creation. xD

Well I sure can't wait! I'll keep on the lookout for your sketches and stuff so I can offer helpful feedback. c:

Webcomics take a crapton of dedication. It can be hard to keep up with making them since you really want to get to the really good/exciting parts of the story, but the process of making a single page takes several hours. The amount of story you can progress in a written fiction is so much greater than that made in the same time spent on a comic. Comics have their advantages- you don't have to describe anything. You let the images speak for themselves. It's easier to do a fight scene and let the reader see what's happening then saying "He punched. She punched back."

And good luck- I've been working on/off on Nightfall/Sunrise for over 6 years now, I think. Of course, I've rebooted each at least once and have scrapped tons of the original since- but still. Finding just the right way to tell a story will be worth it. Eventually.

Most characters are balanced- a few are markedly stronger than others, but I always find a way to balance it out. Spirit magic stands out as being the most powerful overall, but it's rare and a double-edged sword. The only characters meant to be OP are basically Gods... soooooo. xD

Speaking of Sunrise/Nightfall: Here's a commission done for my partner in crime (one of them- our team is now three people) of Rayne and Hail playing/training. Neither are Nightfall characters, but I used this as an opportunity to test out a style for Nightfall. The style still needs work, but it's a start.

Yeah, lighting can make all the difference in any art media.

Gonna post these here too cause why not. No new art things lately. Some of these are old, a few are more recent.

And yet more of Neko's fantastical art shows! Yes it's fantastical. It is by no means failtastic. If anything maybe fantasmical. Either way it's really amazing Neko!

Also like Trainer17 was saying take your typing with Nightfall. It'll only make if that much better. It'll be worth the wait for sure. Great things come with time and patience.

Anyway, here's some concept WIP stuff for my studio project this semester. It's going to be a motion-comic-ish animation-thing. Don't ask. xD I'm working on it with a friend. It's based on mythology (does it surprise anyone that I'd jump into a mythology based project?) and features a Psoglav and a Firebird chick... and a human- but my partner is in charge of that part.

Here's the concepts for the critters, a style test, and an asset test:

The bottom one took... lesse... I did the trees separately on one night- took about an hour (I made a big batch of tree assets for interchanging as needed). The rest of it took maybe two hours tops. xD Simple style for the project. Any more detailed and we lose too much time.

And to be fair, my eyes are terrible. Probably the result of staring at my own work too long. xD

No new art this post. Been working on PRS pages. >D Four pages sketched.

And holy Arceus, I can't draw backgrounds to save my life. But you are awesome! That's a smart idea, though, turning the trees into assets! ---

Also, as promised- progress of a PRS page. If there's ever a page of PRS people want to see the progress/process of, just ask! The only pages I can't do this for right now are the prologue pages since I don't have the PSDs of those on this computer. I should have access to those files next month.

This is the typical process of a PRS page these days. My process has changed a bit over the years, so it's not how older pages were done- but most of the recent pages have been done like this!

Note: The images included are 1/3 of the actual file size I work in. I scale the final page down to 600x900 after it's done. I won't be showing full size images cause... they're big. (Only more recent pages have been done at 1800x2700px)

Step One: Sketch the page. Once I'm done with the sketch, I add in the speech bubbles and ensure nothing important is covered up. I may make adjustments to the sketch to better fit the dialogue as needed.

http://orig09.deviantart.net/864c/f/2016/132/8/3/01_by_nekoyugito-da2a3tx.png

Step Two: Lineart! I hate this part so freaking much. Especially on pages like this one with lots of it. I usually split the lines into two or more layers- one for characters, one for backgrounds. It makes it easier to edit one or the other as needed. Things like the highlights on character eyes is also a separate layer so that I can edit the line color later without messing with that.

http://orig14.deviantart.net/125f/f/2016/132/3/a/02_by_nekoyugito-da2a3tn.png

Step Three: Flat colors. I do the flat colors in three different main layers since most characters don't have more than three main colors. Separating the colors like this makes it easier to shade certain areas individually layer without overlapping and whatnot. I pick what color goes on what layer based on how I'll shade. For example, Lucy's Head/body colors are the same layer since I shade them together. Naya's mane and base colors are separate since I like to shade those separately.

Background flats are sometimes done after all the character shading is done and are done on however many layers I feel necessary on a page. I did the layering by panel on this page- so each panel had three or four main layers. Sometimes I'll do one color across the page per layer. It varies on how efficiently I'm thinking. I derped on this one.

http://orig13.deviantart.net/52a7/f/2016/132/f/0/03_by_nekoyugito-da2a3tf.png

Step Four: Shading- Shadows. I put two multiply layer masks on all of the character layers. One to darken them for environment- the other for the actual shading.

http://orig00.deviantart.net/0a54/f/2016/132/5/3/04_by_nekoyugito-da2a3t3.png

Step Five: Shading- Highlights and Soft Lights! Two more layers- the rim light around the outline of the character on a lighten mask between the two shadow layers and the softer light on a normal layer on top of everything else. I start with the lighten layer and use a single orange color for this- the lighten layer style does the rest of the work for me. The soft light I add after that is with a big soft/round brush where I use orange and a dark-ish red around the highlights/shadows of the image. This helps with the warm lighting effect of the setting.

http://orig04.deviantart.net/8d57/f/2016/132/0/6/05_by_nekoyugito-da2a3sn.png

Step Six: Background Shadows. With the backgrounds I just filled the entire mask layer with the shadow and erased in highlights for most of the layers. I use a mix of hard and soft edges for the shading- hard shadows help define the shape while the soft ones help make it look more natural.

http://orig03.deviantart.net/49b3/f/2016/132/5/2/06_by_nekoyugito-da2a3sd.png

Step Seven: Background Soft Lights. I do this much like I do the characters except I start with the softer lights first- especially since this is a detail-heavy background.

http://orig05.deviantart.net/c42c/f/2016/132/3/d/07_by_nekoyugito-da2a3s4.png

Step Eight: Background highlights. I had fun with these- helps accentuate the cracks in the stone and give some color to the background. Helps make things pop too! But mostly for color. xD

http://orig15.deviantart.net/9192/f/2016/132/5/1/08_by_nekoyugito-da2a3rx.png

Step Nine: Water! I tend to do different textures/surfaces separately, so I saved the water for last since it would interrupt my process for the rocks. With water I typically start with the streaky texture, but I didn't use that on this since it's so far in the background. I do the highlights on the water around where it meets surfaces and some streaks. Ripples too since a bunch of rocks just fell in.

http://orig09.deviantart.net/c847/f/2016/132/3/9/09_by_nekoyugito-da2a3rg.png

Step Ten: Simple- add in the lighting to the water. Just some soft lights- the hard shadows where the walls went into the water were added back in Step Six. Nothing fancy here- just the same way I've done the soft lights on characters and the rest of the backgrounds.

http://orig14.deviantart.net/e37e/f/2016/132/7/b/10_by_nekoyugito-da2a3r2.png

Step Eleven: Lighting Touch-ups and Line Colors. I decided the lighting wasn't quite as warm as I'd wanted to, so I adjusted the overall background color to be a bit more red. Then added some more shading to Bern in the last panel. Lastly, I put some masks on the lineart layer/s and colored those in. I haven't been consistent with the line-art colors in recent pages though. Sometimes I just flat out forget.

http://orig07.deviantart.net/0656/f/2016/132/2/4/11_by_nekoyugito-da2a3qs.png

Step Twelve: The step I forget most of the time. Sound effects! Nothing fancy. I think I've gotten good at drawing that splash bubble. xD

http://orig07.deviantart.net/ac6a/f/2016/132/c/4/12_by_nekoyugito-da2a3qe.png

Step Thirteen: Put the text back, resize, and upload!

http://orig05.deviantart.net/b987/f/2016/126/a/c/025_by_nekoyugito-da1kkrf.png

And finally, here's an animated PNG of the process.

No worries! xD The process videos are more helpful! Takes longer to put them together, but you get a better idea of how I do things than through screenshots since I can be a bit random at times.

I love ALL the new starters, but the owl and the cat... <3

Today I had a request stream on Picarto! It was fun- three hours of sketching/doodling. I might go back and finish some of these at a later date.

The last one there in the bottom right took the longest. He's one of my favorite characters to ever exist. <3 I'm glad someone requested him even though he's got quite the complicated design. For the sake of time though, I didn't draw his lower body. If you don't read MTMTE, it's a wonderfully written comic that's gotten lots of praise and love from all parts of the internet- even those with no prior knowledge of the franchise. Also, the artist needs a huge hug for drawing such complicated characters on a regular basis. Took me forever just for an incomplete rough SKETCH.

I thought it'd be nice to record some things from time to time. Some videos are Patron-only stuff- but I do want to make a handful of them public for all to see- it's a great way to see how much I flail about as I bang my head against my desk. (Wait- what do you mean that's not how you're supposed to draw?)

Toothless is adorable. xD I probably could have used looking at another reference or two- oh well. That's what I get for drawing by memory on that one. =D The process videos are fun to watch- but the render times are terrible sometimes. I may compress the length of the video- but still.

Anyway- here's the next art thing.

See that's what I thought at first, but then I noticed that the moon is already waaaaay in the sky (which is believable), but there are also stars out too, which shouldn't be there until it's dark enough to actually see them - and I don't ever recall seeing a star during a sunset. xD Unless that's more like, a metaphorical thing. ANYWAY.

IT'S THE TWIIIIINNNNNS! Everyone's favourite troublemakers! :'D Awesome as always, Neko.

It IS possible to see stars at sunset- usually just the ones with the highest apparent brightness- but I did exaggerate them quite a bit cause... well, why not? As for the moon, waxing crescent moons actually rise just around sunset! The moon in this image is backwards though- shadow should be on the other side of the moon if we're being accurate to real-world astronomy. Which we're not. Cause this is fictional... xD

And yes, they're everyone's favorite troublemakers. >D I get a disproportionate amount of requests for them compared to anyone else. xD

Gurl, you absolutely ACE at landscapes. The autumn mountains are my favorite! Or...are those mountains made out of wood? They have striations like wood. :o

I just LOVE how you use such vivid colors. Plus the composition of thay is LOVELY <3 I also like how you use harsh highlights and soft shading. It portrays a very interesting and iconic effect, for sure. Just that alone screams to me, "Hey! Neko painted this thing." And the particles in the...hole in the tree mountainside are just the icing on the cake.

I'm also absolutely loving the Ninetales aurora borealis one, too. It just POPS. It's like all, hey, here I am! Love the Pumpkaboo too. Sometimes less is more!

Really glad to see you back. <3

I really love this artwork! It's colorful, cool, and it's got an epically awesome style to it.

WHY

DO

YOU

KEEP

BERATING

YOURSELF

AND

AND

OVER

AND

OVER

AGAIN!?!?!?!?!?!

You have great skills and it's easy to see how much you've poured your passion into this! But please, quit the self-bashing. It's really not good for you, it won't ever help you improve, and the rest of us don't enjoy seeing it either. It's okay to have a bad day once in a while and you feel like you can't do much about anything (I get those from time to time and on those days, everything feels like dry blah), but why so much? It's one thing to humble yourself and not try to push people around with an ego, such as saying "hey, here's my art, please let me know what you think of it and if you see any areas for improvement." But saying "OMG, I'm here to make your eyes bleed and your face cringe at my terrible art!" *Posts awesome art.* "OMG, it's just soooooo baaaaaaaad!!!!11."

Come on! You're awesome at this stuff and everyone agrees! So no more silly self-bashing. Or else I'm going to edit your posts to include pictures of baby puppies, kittens, and bunnies. You have been warned. >:3

Thank you! I used to hate doing backgrounds in my comic- and I still sorta do (because by the time I'm done with lines/flats I'm tired of the page)- but doing a few landscapes in the last few months has made them grow on me a bit. They're still a bit tough though. I had a lot of fun working on that one digital painting assignment- it's not often where I can just go all out and detail things like crazy. (Class is a good reason to do so!) The mountains are stone, but it doesn't really matter. xD I had

I'm sorta back. Still a bit meh on my activity here, but we'll see. I'm drowning in stress and anxiety these days. It should get better after the 5th with one less deadline staring me in the face though.

I'm pretty sure I did these by selling my soul to some artistic demon that possesses me randomly. I swear some days I can't do anything nice and other days I'm just "How did I do this?!" xD I do love messing with leaves- found a nice brush for doing them recently.

And the tonal study was using a photo reference- but yeah. I told my professor that I would refuse to do photo-realism for the rest of the semester. Spent 16 hours on that. X_x And it was only the first assignment of the semester.

And my holidays were alright. Brothers decided to bring up politics, one threw a fit, said something to make my mom cry, etc. etc. - but up to that point it went well. Then I got hit by a bad case of hypotension yesterday. (I'm fine though! Just tired!)

Thank you! I enjoyed the speed paints- had to do them for class. I swear I'm the only one who can be 3 weeks late on a speed paint. xD Only took me an hour or two most on those. I formatted two of them for 1920x1080 if you want to use them as wallpapers- had to scale/crop a little bit to get them to fit right, but it's not too noticeable. I couldn't scale the mountains one cause it was portrait though- it didn't look good scaled or cropped. xD

There was no self-bashing in my previous posts? The whole eye-burning thing was more a jab at how dead the thread was because I had triple posted at that point (no feedback whatsoever on art) and the "I give up" was me being tired of double/triple posting. I don't like to double/triple post. It feels spammy. I don't deny getting frustrated after 3 back-to-back posts of art with no feedback. Especially when it's art I'm actually happy with (Phayla). Maybe there was none in one post, but it happens far too often and I do have to agree with Neo. xD Nobody likes to read about you berating yourself. It's depressing, unnecessary and completely untrue! Neo's coming from a place of support; he's not having a go at you. But truly, you do it far too often. The thing is, EVERYONE has to double or triple post sometimes. I've gone tens of posts between chapters in stories. In fact, most people don't get feedback on their stories. It's far less likely that someone reads one of the stories here than looks at the art, so compared to most of our writers, you get tonnes of comments. xD This community in general is small, and it doesn't take much to miss a post. You not getting comments is in no way related to the quality of your art. It's got to do with the small number of active members.

Moving on, I love the videos! O: I didn't know you could do straight lines with the brush tool... xD Is it by holding shift? I'm sure I've tried but it never works. It's really awesome to see how you do everything. :D You use so many layers! That must contribute to everything looking so awesome. Sometimes I just need to slow down and take my time- I've still got some old stuff that's turned out better than new stuff. xD Good days and bad days!

And I'm fine. A bit stressed over my brother being a jerk and worn out from the health nonsense. The latter hasn't happened in over 2 years. Was hoping I was done with the hypotension attacks. Thankfully I was home when it happened- had people around to help me get to bed, take medicines, etc. The worst part of it is the dizziness is crippling- I've hit walls and desks on the way down, so I don't like to get up when it happens. Always comes with bad pain/cramps too. Thankfully it all happens in about an hour, so after that it's just sleeping the exhaustion off.

Yes, but you'll notice that any of those posts are -months- old. MONTHS. Even some of the more recent old posts didn't have any of the self-berating. I've been better about that lately- or try to. I still don't think my art is -amazing-, but I'm happy with the progress I've made. I decided to start posting again since I've been feeling a bit more positive lately (relative to my usual negativity, anyway). And it does indeed feel like Neo was having a go at me- not even back for a few hours and I'm getting lectured over things from months ago. And I was wondering why I was staying away from PXR for a while... >.>

And when it comes to double posting- it's more personal thing. It's ingrained in me that double posting is spamm-ish and I hate spamming. I prefer to only post when I've got new stuff to post in art threads- but when I post too many times without comments it still feels like I'm spamming- so I don't. I usually wait for posts/comments between posts- usually. This also lets me put more into a single post. If it's been long enough I'll allow an exception. But after two or three times, I sometimes just decide to stop posting entirely unless it's a comic/story thread. I mean, this is just an art thread- stopping new art posts isn't really as bad as halting updates on PRS (which I did for different reasons- hiatus happened and I just forgot to resume here on PXR when it ended).

And while the lack of posts may not be related to the quality of art, it's hard not to feel a little disappointed when you post something you're really proud of and all you hear are the crickets. </3

You can! The shift trick works for horizontal/vertical lines- I can't seem to get it to work for diagonals even though it IS possible. I'll have to mess with it more later on.

And you've seen nothing when it comes to layers. That Digital Painting Final (or the sink with dishes tonal) are in the HUNDREDS of layers. 8D Most of my things don't get past a few dozen depending on the subject. Comic pages get quite a few more layers, but that's how I structure the pages more than anything- I'm sure I can cut down the layers if I tried. xD

And I maintain: MTMTE is a comic worth reading even for people who aren't fans of Transformers. It's got such wonderful writing and the main artist is amazing (though, it seems his time working on it is done </3)- I've never felt so emotionally attached to cars/robots before. </3 There was a lot of screaming at the end of season 2 on my end. The Lost Light Fest / Inktober nonsense was to celebrate the end of MTMTE and the beginning of Lost Light (essentially MTMTE season 3 just with a different name.) It's won the best sci-fi comic award this year- best ongoing serial comic and best writer in 2015 too!

Edit: Reading through many of my posts in this thread, I've been far more positive on my work than I remember. My joke about people not posting cause burned eyes was the closest thing I could find to self-berating? I'm so confused.

And it does indeed feel like Neo was having a go at me- not even back for a few hours and I'm getting lectured over things from months ago. And I was wondering why I was staying away from PXR for a while... >.>

I'm not sure what you mean by you saying it feels like I'm having a go at you, but I can definitely tell you feel something I'm doing is negative to you. That's definitely not what I'm trying to do, but I'm not sure what exactly I said feels wrong to you. If you could explain, it would help, because I was only trying to help you see the bright side of things in a casual, light-hearted, and somewhat whimsical way.

Neko, we're all friends here. No one is trying to push you away or encourage you to leave. No one is trying to offend you. I just feel the negativity isn't necessary and only hurts in the end.

I don't know, the fact I come back, post new art for the first time in -months- without saying any negative about the art and I start getting lectured about self-berating? If it's the "Let's see how long before the thread dies" comment, that's a jab at how I'm incapable of keeping threads alive- typically of my own lack of updating/business. That was in no way a negative comment- my threads die a lot. It happens. Sure, I prefer not to have them die- but it's typically because I get too busy than anything. I wasn't in any way feeling negative yesterday. If I were, I wouldn't have dared attempted to return to activity around here.

Reading through my thread in general, I've been positive in this thread. I know I can be self-critical of my work, but I've been better about that in the last several months. I don't know where you're getting the self-berating. Especially in my first post here after months. If it's for past stuff, which I know I can be a bit 'meh' about my work in chats at times, that was -ages- ago and I see no reason for it to have been brought up.

Mostly, I'm just confused where this came up from? If there's any negativity I'm feeling around PXR, it's about things in the past completely unrelated to my art that initially caused my long hiatus- things I shouldn't be upset over but still am because I took things badly when I probably shouldn't have.

That is true, you have gotten better about not being so hard on yourself lately as opposed to things that were said months ago. I still wish you'd change the thread's title, though. I think a few people have brought that up, and yet it still hasn't changed...

As far as the lack of comments and feedback goes, well, that's normal. Sometimes people miss an update or they don't check your gallery out every day, especially if you've been on hiatus for a while. If you really want more feedback, you could specifically ask people in a VM or PM saying "hey, I posted some new art. If you could check it out and let me know what you think, I would appreciate that!" When Liokora posts a new update in Pokémon Alpha, she mentions all the people that are following it and has a kind of "subscriber's list" going. That might be a good solution for you to consider as well. Look at people who have given you feedback before, ask if they want to be placed on such a list to be notified when new updates occur, mention them when you post an update, and see if that helps. I'll admit, if Liokora didn't do this, I might have missed a few updates simply because I get busy and involved with other stuff going on. I may not check the thread every day, but I definitely check mentions.

It might also help if you check out other people's art threads and give feedback for their art, also. Or writing. Sometimes getting feedback involves a little sowing and reaping and reciprocity in a "if I review yours, will you review mine?" kind of way.

Also, it helps to be more generally involved with the community as well. Every little bit you do to participate, even if it's just small, silly stuff, still helps. Like Secret Santa, chat threads, or even just the casual stuff. It helps people get to know you better, build rapport, and as a result, they become more interested in all the stuff you do.

The title wasn't meant to be self-berating, just silly. If I was going for self-berating, I'd put "Neko's crappy art." or something like that. Failtastic is a silly word in my book and therefore is used in a silly way.

It's normal, I know that. I'm not one who likes to bother people with VMs/PMs. I always worry about coming off pushy that way. I do use mentions whenever I respond to posts- but I try to minimize the number of mentions I send between posts. That's why I can be slow to respond in this thread- I typically try to make sure I've got new art to post with the mentions. I do have a mention list for PRS stuff, but I forget to use it a lot. And again, I don't want to ping/mention people 5 times in a row and spam their inboxes. My fault there. Either way, I'm well aware activity is low. That's why I don't expect this thread to stay active for extended periods of time. I'm fine with that. I'll just take breaks and come back as I've always done.

It might also help if you check out other people's art threads and give feedback for their art, also. Or writing. Sometimes getting feedback involves a little sowing and reaping and reciprocity in a "if I review yours, will you review mine?" kind of way.

I'm very guilty of being a lurker. I admit that. Half of it is because I don't know what to say, the other half is I'm afraid to say the wrong thing and upset people. And I'm not one to post "If I review yours, will you review mine" type stuff. Again, I don't want to a bother in that regard. I do need to be better about not lurking.

I've been around for what... years? I'm not well known because of my lurker status and I'm sorta okay with that. Sometimes I wish I'd be more involved with the -planning- of stuff since I far more enjoy making things for people to enjoy than being the one enjoying it (if that makes sense?) but the senior staff don't seem to require any assistance on things, and that's fine. Anyway, the last time I got involved with a community thing it backfired in my face and is why I took a long break. Personal issue more than anything, but I'm still a bit hurt/upset over it. I'm going to be taking it -very- slow about trying to get back into the community as a result- that's why I started with my art thread and PRS. Not that it's been a great start >.> I'm not a very sociable person by nature, though I do like to be social. I just find it very difficult at times and can get a bit discouraged.

I get where Neo is coming from. I think he has good intentions but is coming off as a tad pushy.

However, self-deprecating humor IS a thing and despite Neko having a history of berating herself often...like she said, she has been INFINITELY better about it lately. But yeah, I personally see nothing wrong with the title myself, either. It's meant to be silly in a self-deprecating way.

Just wanted to drop by to say my piece! :o But yeah in terms of PXR, we ALL just to remember that not getting any feedback at all, even after posting a piece you're really proud of, isn't something unheard of around here. I guess most people here just like to look and admire without really saying much. PXR is sadly not very art-centric, so it's no real surprise that the art boards don't get a lot of attention. Of course if you've been here for a while, chances are you already knew that. :p Sometimes we all just need a reminder because even as I say this, I STILL get irritated every now and then at a lack of much feedback on my art. That's one reason as to why I like to try and leave comments. The only problem with that is--and I think a lot of other people can relate--I tend to not say anything if I just can't think of anything constructive to say. If I can't think of something relatively constructive, then I feel as if I'm wasting the other person's time.

Neo is definitely right about one thing: just putting yourself out there more really does make a HUGE difference.

Damn. I wish I could draw backgrounds that good. Or at all. XD I absolutely adoooooore the way you do lighting, and it's really quite magnificent. Your mountains are especially well drawn, like Speedy said. I also love the Pumpkaboo one for Halloween, and I may be partial to the Alola Ninetales cause it's one of my new favourites. xP

I've always wanted to learn how to draw proper clouds, to be honest. I can only seem to do cartoon styled ones. xD I'd like to see a tutorial or something from you sometime!

And yush, Neko, no one likes to see you berating yourself or your art. </3 I know you probably don't mean it this way but, to me, it makes all the hard work and effort you put into it seem like it means nothing at all. Not only are you belittling yourself and your work, but also a lot of other artists who strive really hard to reach the kind of level you're at. Just think, for a moment, how they feel when they see you saying such awful things about your great work and they may not even come close. They might think to themselves "well if she thinks she's no good then obviously I'll never get there". And even if you're joking, not everyone else knows that.

That's just one viewpoint, but I'd like you to understand. Like Neo said, it's okay to be humble and have off days but please recognise your skill level and take pride in your work -- even if it may not live up to the standards you yourself may want. As a perfectionist my artwork will never seem perfect to me, but that doesn't mean I'm not pleased with how it turned out. You should be happy with all your artwork, no matter how it turns out. As an artist what you do should make you smile and be happy. If you're not happy in the first place then why draw? You learn from everything you do, no matter how it turns out in your eyes. I know it's always hard when you you don't get feedback, because you feel as though your work isn't important or that no one loves it. But that's not true! A lot of people may see it and just not give feedback. More importantly, if what you do matters to yourself then it's never a wasted effort. C:

Okay, just wanted to chime in here because I feel like people are still salty about the PXR Birthday thing: that was a one-time thing, and it's been cleared up that it was not designed to exclude anyone. If you're not talking about that, then I apologise for bring it up again. And actually, we do require help with things. But mostly, mods need to be proactive and ask to help, which is how people get involved. :] And if you're unsure when there's a new project up, all you gotta do is check the staff section because that's where things get posted. Also, I'm not sure if you forgot about the tokens, or didn't want to continue doing them or what, but there are still tonnes that need to be done and we enlisted your help, because you're the perfect fit for the job. :]

As for the whole self-berating thing, I think the whole discussion about it needs to be dropped. I personally see the thread title as unnecessary and berating yourself, but you and Speed see it as light humour, which is fine. It's a difference of opinion. Neo's red capitalised letters were not yelling, or being pushy; he was trying to emphasise what a lot of people have said in the past, myself included. He's trying to get rid of the negativity, not breed more of it. If he accidentally did, then he didn't mean to. Trust me, I know the guy. I've worked pretty closely with him. He cares about everyone, and you're no exception. :] Please don't take offence. The issue needs to be dropped now, haha.

On the bright side, it's really good that you've been better with it all! I feel like you've been better too, and maybe Neo was looking at the old stuff and didn't realise it was old until you brought it up, and your confusion is just a testament to how you've improved! I think it's well established that we all think you're wonderful at anything creative, and finally you're starting to realise it too! xD

Ohh I thought you were doing it with diagonal lines! Silly me. You're probably just really apt at them since you'd have a lot more practice than I. xD

Hundreds! God! What the heck do you put on them?! XD I think that's pretty incredible. xD I mean, they clearly all help with the final composition which is always wonderful.

I would, but I'm far too broke to spend money on comics. That's awesome! Trust me, I would read them if they were at my disposal. xD If I had the money for comics, I'd be knee-deep in all sorts of 'em.

THANK YOU. I've got a weird sense of humor, and the title was never meant in any self-berating way. >.>

In response to the rest of the post, I think I've covered my thoughts on that in previous posts. I'm trying to slowly transition back into the swing of things here. >.> WONDERFUL START.

I'm sure you draw backgrounds just fine! xD I'm not so great at them myself- or not as good as I'd like to be- but I'm definitely better than I was in the past. And that's good enough for now. It's just a lot of practice and a lot of reference photos at this point. And maybe selling your soul.... okay- not that last part. xD I find myself incredibly fond of working with strong atmospheric perspectives. I always love the effects you can get with that. I'm happy with my backgrounds lately- when they're not in comic form where I end up rushing them for the sake of "THIS PAGE IS DUE TOMORROW" xD

As for clouds, I don't draw them consistently from piece to piece yet- still working out what method feels best with my overall style. If you pick one of the paintings with clouds I can put together a few process shots of how the clouds were painted. I didn't record any of those, but the way I work usually involves a lot of layers so I'd be able to show the layering at least. Or I could make a quick video tutorial later on (might be a while on that!)

Okay, okay. Please stop. I know when I deserve to be lectured for self-berating- and trust me, I've deserved it PLENTY of times in the past. BUT- I've said NOTHING self-berating in this thread that I can see, let alone in the ONE post I've made in the last several months. I've been relatively happy with my work as of late (as happy as I ever get, anyway) and haven't been hating on my own work in a non-joking manner for a good while. So please stop with the whole self-berating lecture. I'll gladly (and grudgingly) take it when I deserve it, but right now it's just stressing me out because I don't see where this is all coming from. I come back from a several month break from PXR- something I wouldn't do if I wasn't feeling up for the task- and this isn't exactly what I came for.

Next time I AM tearing up my own art in a non-joking manner, by all means feel free to lecture me cause I'll have deserved it. Right now I feel like I'm being scolded in band rehearsal for missing a note at a previous rehearsal despite playing just fine in the current. It may not be the intent of you or Neo, but I can't help but feel a little stressed over it all.

I was on break for several months because of things that happened in... Oh- April? May? My break didn't start until a while after, but that's because I found myself feeling very hurt for an extended period of time and decided a break was needed. I'm still not 100% past some things, but I decided I was gone too long. Long enough to not know what the heck happened with the Birthday thing. Unless it was that one event over the summer in which the mods were told nothing about- then I remember that. I was probably annoyed with that, but mostly cause I'd have loved to include the PRS section for some nonsense. But I've over that.

And again, last times I was proactive and wanted to help with things I was told "Our way or f--- off" (maybe not that harsh, but I'm pretty peeved right now, sorry), I spent ages putting together a thought out post only to have the thread locked before discussion could start, and then there's- .. actually. Not even going to go into the third one cause that's a whole different unrelated rant. Point is, unless I know I've been told I'm actually -wanted- on the project, I want nothing to do with it because trying to force yourself in ends up with resistance, arguing, and unneeded stress. I've tried to get involved with other people's projects, but it hasn't worked out. My section/s are currently to dead to attempt some of my own ideas. I hope to work on getting activity up before attempting those.

And I haven't forgotten tokens. Again. I took a long break for reasons that are still slightly touchy for me. The tokens are... minimally related to this- but I do wish to continue them once my muse returns from the war. And after the grad school applications are in and I can work on fun stuff guilt-free.

As for the whole self-berating thing, I think the whole discussion about it needs to be dropped. Again. There. Has. Been. No. Self. Berating. For. MONTHS. -whines loudly- I've skimmed this ENTIRE thread for it and didn't see any. Why was there ANY reason to bring it up other than some silly thread title- which, let's be real here, I wouldn't have actually used if I really felt that way about my work. I wouldn't have a thread for art if I felt that way. I deleted my old thread because I DID feel that way. Past tense. PAST. MONTHS AGO. Sorry if I'm sounding agitated here, but I am. >.> Again, I'll GLADLY/grudgingly accept this lecture when I've done/said something to deserve it, but I haven't. Not in a long while. Unless I've missed something, there's nowhere in this thread where I state my art is crap in a non-joking manner.

Ohh I thought you were doing it with diagonal lines! Silly me. You're probably just really apt at them since you'd have a lot more practice than I. xD

Nope! Lots of ctrl+z is the key! Or if you're really impatient, draw the line horizontal and rotate it. That works too. I try to not do that cause it's faster not to, but whatever works.

Hmm... let's see, typically I'll have each object in an image (or group of very similar objects) as its own base layer. Then each of those layers has at least 4-10 layer masks on them for shading, details, lights, AP, etc. So my layer count goes up really fast. Plus side of working like this? I can edit tiny things without messing up other things! Downside? WHAT LAYER IS WHICH AGAIN?

As for comics. I may know a site or two you could read them for the less-than-legal way. Alternatively, I think I've got a humble-bundle code for the first 4 volumes that I haven't used. (The end of the 4th volume is a big cliffhanger though.)

That's fine. Nobody's saying it isn't. xD I'm just letting you know that if you want to get involved, all you have to do is keep an eye out for an event and go for it. I know you tried a community event, as have many other people, and the idea did not go through because of one reason or another, and, like others, it doesn't mean it's your fault. I didn't want you to justify yourself. x)

I have no clue what you're talking about. Threads don't get locked here, like, ever. xD Unless it's spam, the OP's request, or it's a stickied thread like a Rules thread which is closed from when it gets initially posted. I've been in the higher staff for over two years now and I've never seen that happen. xD And nobody has told you "Our way or f off." xD Come on.

I'm not asking for a reason. You said you wanted stuff to do, and I pointed out that there is stuff to do. x) People take leave all the time. I'm just saying, it's still there if you're looking for something to do.

Again. There. Has. Been. No. Self. Berating. For. Unless I've missed something, there's nowhere in this thread where I state my art is crap in a non-joking manner.
...I know. xD That's what I said. Hence why I said the topic needs to be dropped. By everyone. I literally said you were getting better, and that Neo may have seen OLD posts. xD

Yeah, I can relate to that too. xD I basically spam it until I get a line that looks remotely accurate, and sometimes that means I CTRL Z an actually good line. xD Oops. Yeah, and also it turns sorta pixelly. :c

Oh wow, you do masks for shading? I have no idea how to use masks, other than using them to erase lineart in case I want the lines back. XD Yeah, that's the thing--so many layers = so much chaos! x__x Well at least it gives you great results. :D

Oh I love Humble Bundle! And hey, I won't say no. ;D Ahaha. I did read the Pokemon manga online. x: Oops... XD But I don't have to take your code if you wanna save it for someone. cx

The title wasn't meant to be self-berating, just silly. If I was going for self-berating, I'd put "Neko's crappy art." or something like that. Failtastic is a silly word in my book and therefore is used in a silly way.

I feel a bit silly, I didn't know you were trying to be humorous about the self-depreciating stuff. Maybe I've come across way too many people that were too self-critical in the past and I'm naturally on the lookout for it. I dunno, maybe it was my mistake, but each time I read it, it seemed like you were serious. Sometimes it's a little hard to detect emotion by just reading. XP

Maybe we just have different styles with how we go about making fun of our own fallacies. And that's totally fine. :P I'm seeing the humor more now and things are looking better.

I actually love mentions! XD The one time I had like "Notifications: 7," it felt like I struck the jackpot. Felt like a gold mine of PXR love I got to unwrap and check out! X3

I honestly feel most people wouldn't mind the mentions at all. I know I wouldn't, so if you want to start with me, have at it. I'm sure most people wouldn't see your mentions as spam. Quite the contrary, I think most people would love to see what new art you just put up, but sometimes they're not aware of it until they get the heads up.

But imagine what would happen if we were all like that!

I'll admit, sometimes shyness feels like a shield. But I've come to realize that if I have it up too often, I miss out on too many good things thinking they were bad. And there's been times where I've said the wrong thing or goofed up here and there. It happens. And yeah, there's times when things backfire. It's not fun, but it's really just a matter of getting back up, dusting yourself off, and trying again.

But yeah, when new ideas pop up, don't hesitate to chime in your thoughts. Otherwise everyone else just thinks you don't have anything new to add or that you just don't want to be involved. As for the senior staff, I think the only concern there is activity level. Someone that's known to go on hiatus a lot might not get as much opportunity as opposed to someone that's active on a regular basis. The more you're active on a general basis, the better it looks.

Lurking is like being a spectator. Actually posting, getting involved, and communicating makes you more of a player on the field. I think if you want people to come to you and want you to help with planning, you need to show that drive to get in on stuff by getting involved throughout the community. But if you only lurk (spectate), the coach of the team isn't going to go into the stands and pick out fans to get in on the game. They'll go to the prospects first, the ones that show the drive, enthusiasm, and the skills (and you definitely have the skills!). So don't just be a fan, join the team!

That's all we're saying. Everyone here would love to see you get more out there and join us in all of our enjoyable adventures. We're crazy in a fun and entertaining ways. XD

Oh, and I didn't mean it had to do anything with your thread, or title (which is funny btw), I just meant in general since everyone was on topic and from what I knew you did that quite often. I'm glad to see it's not a problem anymore, and I'm sorry if it upset you any, Neko. O:

It's fine. Sorry if I came off harsh... just... I don't know where this all came from. >.> It's frustrating when you're getting a lecture for things you haven't done in ages. (I admit I'm guilty of it at times, but I do try to be better about it.)

I know no one literally said "Our way or f off", but it essentially can feel like that when you try to offer suggestions, they all get shut down without discussion or ignored entirely cause the project lead or whatever is already so set in their ways. As for the thread locking, I'm referring to WAR. I wrote out a really long detailed idea on suggestions to salvage it for future years. Thread was locked and I recall someone making a really snarky remark along the lines of "If you think you can do it better, then run it yourself next year." You may not see it, but the head staff can be very protective of their ideas and can be quick to shut down discussion at times. Not always, but usually when I try to get involved. My bad luck, perhaps. It's just easier to stay out of things unless you're invited, that way you don't feel like you're not really wanted on the thing.

And then there was that one project that I stupidly got excited for. 8D Aaah... I'm not starting that rant. I'm sure a few people have gotten it already.

I'm not saying this as an attack on the staff- just my experience. I'm sure others have had far better luck than I have.

I've had trouble getting involved for ages. Partially cause I stress out easily when it comes to social situations- I try though. That's why I'm trying to ease in after a long break this time around. I'm not looking to jump into any major projects at the moment- just to slowly get posting again. Most backfires I can just shrug off with a short break. Some.... hurt. A lot. Those are the ones that cause my longer bouts of inactivity. I'm one to bottle in frustrations cause I hate having to fight/argue. Makes it hard for me to stick around when I'm holding in too much negativity though. Unhealthy, I know.

And I'm a lurker by nature. I've always preferred working behind the scenes to make things fun for others. I don't know, I just find it more enjoyable for me to make other people happy than participating. I'm not sure if that makes sense. Doesn't mean I don't like to participate or won't- I do, I'm just... bad at it. xD My activity levels are sporadic, so I try to avoid taking part in events that require my posting to continue. And then I'm just really bad at knowing what to say in posts. That's why I'm starting slow with the areas I'm comfortable with for the time being. I'll spread out a little more as I get back into the swing of things.

Thank you! And I wouldn't exactly say I've been 'okay' the last few months. Just harboring some negative feelings that kept me away for a while. Hell week/exams is always a very temporary thing.

Anyway- new art I did to distract myself tonight. Rough night. Also doubles as productivity cause token art.

I use clipping masks, but that's pretty much it. I learned that from you or Gigi. xD

Photoshop has a lot of neat little things that make life easier. One trick I like to use when adding in highlights for things like the tree texture in that one digital painting with the dragon? Copy and paste the layer where I drew the grooves, move it a little, change the color, trim the extra off, then edit it some. Tadaa! Easy hard highlights. Some call it cheating, but I call it efficient. I typically do hand-draw the highlights though- just not on things THAT detailed. xD

You're free to look at some of the videos I've posted to learn different tricks. xD I typically follow a routine when it comes to most images, but every so often I do something different to save some time!

And sure- I'll send you the code! I plan on picking up more codes next time a bundle offers MTMTE. The last bundle limited me to getting 4 codes. </3 I think I'll be picking up random humble bundle codes of things I think are worth sharing in general- it's such a great way to introduce people to new series/movies/etc.

Well, from lining to finish. Sketch takes me maybe 10 minutes for the tokens. So 40 minutes. xD The token art is basically a more rushed version of my style while sticking a bit closer to official Pokemon designs. I work in a process- so as long as I'm following my habit, it goes pretty quickly. I think speed comes with time as you learn what looks good to you and such. More polished work would definitely take more time. PRS comic pages take me about 2-4 hours on average. (The latest one took just over 3)

As for the color choices, I'm trying to avoid repeats in the Prism set. I think I've got two more for the Pokemon Prism tokens (Unless Speed-X wants me to add more to the set). Milotic and Ho-oh.

So

Red: Milotic
Orange/Yellow: Snivy
Green: Absol
Blue/Purple: Squirtle
RAINBOW: HO-OH

New art. I've been working on revamping the PRS Smackjeeves site. After updating the page resolution to 800px wide from the previous 600px, the site images sorta went ADFJGADF cause they all were meant for a 600px wide content area. The most notable thing that broke was the site background. Also the images I was using were really old- I even forgot some of the shading on some. So it was time to create new images for everything. I'm not done yet, but here's some of them! Apologies for the presentation of the Naya/Echo images. I'm too lazy to separate them from the BG image.

---

I'll have videos for these up soon. Naya/Echo took about 35 mins, Twins took about 20.

Well, how fast I draw depends on the complexity of the image and how much practice I've gotten with the character. In the case of the characters in the last post, I'm pretty quick at drawing those guys now. Other characters like... ooohh- Ho-oh or Entei would take me significantly longer. I'm trying to improve my time without sacrificing quality though so I can crank out more comic pages. =D

And thank you! I love working on lighting- it's what I want to do in animation, actually! 3D lighting is a different process, but the principles are the same. Takes an eye for it and I think I might have that!

And the process videos are fun. Takes a while to render out some of the longer ones, but if it helps even one person learn a trick or two, then mission accomplished!

Not new art, but I think I'll open a few free icon requests for the fun of it. Pokemon-only please! I'll make the images... how big are the avatar limits here? 150x150? I think so, so I'll probably make them around 600px then scale down- shouldn't take me long at those resolutions!

Pinging some people who may be interested/have posted in this thread. Not sure how long it'll take to get them done or if I'll be able to do all of them, but they'll be good for breaks/warm-ups from other more time-consuming work.

I hope to get a two or three more done before shifting back to PRS work. It's been a nice change of pace. I go crazy if I don't vary my work often enough. xD

Videos! I sped up the videos by x10 - so whatever length the videos are 1/10th the actual time I spent drawing. The amount I speed up typically varies based on the total length- sometimes I go down to 20x just to prevent videos from being too long. These are all short, so x10 was fine!

So, this isn't NEW, but it's from last semester. It's my studio project that I did with my group. As such, I'd ask that it does not get shared around without my knowing. I just want to share it so people get a better idea of what I ACTUALLY do in my major since I tend to be a bit cautious about posting group projects anywhere.

Assignment: Create a 10 second animation using a period of art history as our inspiration.

What we did: Surrealism. Cause cool/weird creature designs- why not? Also, screw trying to do a story in 10 seconds.

What I did: Concept art, animation (deer), HDR map, lighting (my main thing), Rendering, Post, Effects (Atmospheric perspective, the tree's vein-glow), Compositing, etc.

I'm more of a late stage player for projects. Lighting, post, etc. are my things.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrRs6K9IFcc

And here's a process video I put together from the lighting- get a better idea of what it looks like without all the fancy lighting and post work that I did.

You guys MADE that!? Holy snaps, that is incredible! The surreal fantasy forest is amazing and you guys definitely did an awesome job with the textures. I've worked with 3D Studio Max and I know how much of a ROYAL PAIN it is to model things and apply the textures without stuff looking weird or screwy. And that was even without animation. But modeling... I know from experience that you could spend hours upon hours of doing that stuff and it looks like you barely made any progress.

The lighting is also really cool! It does give the scene really neat fantasy vibes! And yes... I know how much of a pain that is as well.

VERY NICE job on everything. The animations, the lighting, the modeling, and the camera path were definitely very well-executed.

We did! Took about 2 months for a group of 6. xD Ton of work, but always worth the final. I've got some older studio projects, but this one was the best one so far that I had a decent hand in. Last fall's studio I didn't contribute as much cause of control-freak group leader. Spring was a 2D thing we sorta did while running around Europe... wasn't our priority. xD

We mostly use Maya for our animations. 3DS max is actually used more on the gaming side of things if I recall. Texturing was the hardest part for us. Even so we had a few issues. If you look VERY carefully you'll notice a few issues with the animation. I'm not the strongest modeler or texturer, so I struggle on those sides- which is why groups are awesome! Everyone has their strong points and we place roles on that. My area of specialty is Lighting/Post- which go together quite closely, so it works out. I'm taking a rigging/animation graduate class this semester to strengthen those skills... and you heard my rant about the hell class? That's a modeling/texturing heavy class. Go figure. xD Once we get in groups for that though, I'll get to shift back to the areas I'm strong in- but it's solo for now. RIP me.

RIP me.

I have heard of Maya, but I haven't ever worked with it. I'm curious to know what it's like, but I'm sure the overall setup is probably something similar to 3DS max with a few minor differences. For me, it took HOURS just to design the layout of a room. And I mostly used shape primitives with textures. Trying to do serious modeling was asking to die a little inside.

The modeling I did involved a LOT of anchor points. So many of them. Messing around with them in a 3D environment was like performing surgery, but if you were willing to spend a good chunk of time into it, you could set everything to actually be modeled into looking like something coherent. But it was definitely a lot of work and not for the faint of heart. It was the element that took the longest amount of time for me, and there were plenty of times where even after spending loads of time into it, I felt like "this is still awful, delete." It's no wonder that during the credits of 3D animated movies done by Pixar and Dreamworks, there's a gazillion people involved. I believe it! And I know what they must have gone through! XD It does make these 3D movies very easy to appreciate when you are aware of some of the behind the scenes work that goes into these things. You start to feel like they deserve congressional Medals of Honor. XD

But yeah, basically we started with a sphere (or some other 3D primitive shape) clicked on the setting that revealed all the anchor points, and you had to pull out or push in each anchor point one by one to get the exact shape you wanted. It was pain. It took forever. It made you question your life choices. But if you were diligent about it, you could make something seriously cool.

Applying textures was kind of a trial and error thing sometimes. Sometimes you had to try different textures to see what would work best and to make sure it didn't stretch too much or have weird cutoffs that made it obvious something screwy was going on. The bigger the texture, the better chance you had of it working. You HAD to experiment. You had to go against gut instincts to at least try to see if there was a chance of it working. And you had to be open to trying and trying again because you wanted to kick this thing in the butt and make something awesome.

It's been a really long time since I've done 3D stuff though. But yeah, I can appreciate the work that goes into it. But you've got the skills and the diligence. I think you can do it if you really take a solid plunge into the stuff.

Maya is the industry standard these days for the most part. It's a very complicated program that isn't user-intuitive at all. Got an error? BEST OF LUCK FINDING THE CAUSE. It can be one of a billion tiny insignificant problems. xD

And the modeling process you're describing is NURBS modeling. Why the hell would you do that to yourself? xD Polygon modeling is far more user-intuitive. That said... my hell professor is making us do all of our modeling in NURBS. RIP us.

Surfacing can either be easy or hell. Depends what you're doing and what method you're trying. I know renderman has some REALLY good presets for certain common materials. I also know how to paint seamless textures when I need to- it's a process. My friend is good at procedural texturing, so she usually covers that.

3D animation is very much a trial-error process. Iteration after iteration until things look good. I can dig up some older screenshots from that project later if you'd like to see what the early stages looked like (big difference). xD It takes a huge amount of people to make quality work. Seriously, there are people dedicated to making sure someone's scarf moves properly in animation. Another person may be in charge of just facial animations. It's a process and a huge undertaking. It's one of those fields you have to love your job or get out.

Neko that is so freaking cool! OOO: I love the progress video and the animation is sweet. :3 The headless deer was creepy though, I must admit. All in all, it was really, really cool.

I remember at the fall show someone gasped 'Holy sh--! WHAT IS THAT?!" behind me when our animation showed. It was priceless. xD Surrealism is full of weird bizarre things. xD

Omg Maya. XD I used it for a few things in my game design course and yeah...that was pretty much my result. Even the artists had trouble working out what the heck half the errors were about. xD

NURBS! Yes, I totally forgot the name of it but that's what it was. It was hell. I think the reason why your professor is making you use it is because it goes into the deepest level, as if you were modifying things on a pixel by pixel basis with 2D art. It's so ungodly slow, though. It makes every project feel like it's something you're going to need to hand down to your grandchildren to complete.

Surfacing and textures felt a bit like gambling. Sometimes, things looked good even on the first try and even after you poked around and looked at it some more. But then other times, Satan jabbed you in the eye with a middle finger each time you tried to fix it and make it look good. And you could try a dozen other textures and still get crappy results, making you wonder if the shape was wrong or if the textures were wrong. You could only just keep messing around on both fronts until something seemed to fit. It was a trial and error jamboree.

I haven't done 3D animation on a serious level, but I have worked with Flash animation and blaurgh, it's not fun either. You play the same scene over and over and over again messing with it over and over by the tiniest bit just to see if you're on the right track toward fixing the mess. Sometimes you make progress. Sometimes it only makes it worse! It's agony. You can only make the modifications you think will work and then test them to see if what you did was right or wrong. It was so tempting to just settle with results less than what you were hoping for, but that just doesn't point toward the quality work you want. And usually the perfectionist in you would scream to try again despite the moans that your brain was making.

But you're totally right. You've have GOT to have the patience, love, and passion for this stuff. I know you have it, though. You know what kinds of rewards come out of doing things the right way no matter what it takes. It makes all the mind-grinding worth it in the end. :3

Actually, he's making us use NURBS cause he knows we don't use them often. In reality, NURBS are better for some objects than polygons- half of being a modeler is knowing what method would be most efficient for what you're doing! I've used it a bit in the past, so it's not entirely new to me, but still a challenge.

Surfacing and textures felt a bit like gambling. Sometimes, things looked good even on the first try and even after you poked around and looked at it some more. It depends on what you're texturing. Cubes and objects with flat edges and few curves? Not hard at all. Complicated shapes is where it gets difficult. Cause then you've got to UV unwrap and that's just pure hell.

HAH. 2D animation is easy compared to 3D. A lot more to mess with. Lots of patience, tinkering, etc. to get it JUST right. You have to RIG before you can animate- and if you didn't rig well, then the animation isn't going to turn out well. X_x'

But you're totally right. You've have GOT to have the patience, love, and passion for this stuff. I know you have it, though. You know what kinds of rewards come out of doing things the right way no matter what it takes. It makes all the mind-grinding worth it in the end. :3

Yup! It's a rewarding field if you can get that far. If I can make something people enjoy, then I'm happy!

And some progress shots I found of our project (we had to give a weekly progress report to our professor.

Wow Neko, that animation is AMAZING! It's weird when you think "oh 10 seconds is no time at all" but wow you can really tell that a LOT of work went into that. It looks amazing! :O And omg! The deer is a really really cool idea but I am also super creeped out for some reason xD It was really cool seeing how you do the lighting and stuff, and all those progress shots. *really impressed*

How did you do the colouring on the Hail and Rayne pic? It looks like you were blocking it in somehow, unless the video was just too fast to see it? xD I'd love to see a tutorial on how you colour like that! I just do it manually and it's really hard to stay in the lines so it takes ages (one of the reasons I started drawing in a sketchier style xD).

The amount of work that goes into each second of animation- especially feature animated films- is intense. It's worth it though. And yeah, the deer was meant to be creepy. My friend came up with the idea. I'm just the one who makes things look pretty with lights.

For the coloring on that image- and most of my work- I use the fill bucket. You have to have a really crisp lineart brush though, otherwise it doesn't work too well around the lines. Still have to touch up some spots since the fill doesn't work too well on corners and all.

On those avatar requests, I'm just feeling really depressed lately. Been having a lot of negativity thrown my way and it's dragging my motivation down. I'm going to do maybe one or two more if I can then get to work on tokens and other things that need doing. Sorry guys, just not up for it. Maybe another time I'll get to the others.

Pardon delayed responses. I tend to only post here when I have new art to show. xD

Mostly sketch requests and getting used to my new tablet! A note on the requests: I've changed the rules a bit so that people may request that I line a previous sketch... or color something that's been lined (sometimes I'll do both.)

I've got a more official art thing in the works for class. Matte painting for a thing. Lately though, it's been mostly PRS work and doodles... Speaking of which, I'll post some PRS sketches in the PRS section soon! I've got some new character concepts there.

I have been! Trying to be, at least!

I do love mixing things up a bit since I find myself defaulting to my PRS style more often than I should. And it's certainly a nice break to draw things other than PRS related stuff. xD

Not much new on the art side, PRS excluded. Finals hit hard this year and I've spent some time working out some life things. I got into grad school. So there's that. Signing my soul away for 3 more years. -throws confetti and dies- xD

I'll post some classwork from last semester if I remember.

Animation for class: We had to do a rough animation to capture the general motion of two animals interacting based off a reference clip.

https://youtu.be/lrs52El3-b4

And then had to do it in 3D with a focus on a procedural/technical aspect. Mine was a collision between the Cheetah and the 2nd Cheetah (I didn't have time to model/rig a dog) causing the Cheetah's spots to fly off. unfortunately, the spots didn't render properly on the Cheetah before the collision. So it looks like blood splatter. xD I went with a cell-shaded look for both time and aesthetic purposes. We had to have a visual target- and I always loved the dramatic African sunset paintings. Hence my choice in colors and whatnot.

Digital Environments: Kingdom Hearts - Daybreak Town

We had to recreate Daybreak Town in 3D for an assignment. Not going to post much of the 3D stuff since I'm too lazy to hunt that down- also my main focus of the project was to create the matte painting for the environment map. I didn't paint the buildings in the front- those are from the reference photo to see how it'll look in the scene. Sky/castle were painted.

I really like your digital environments too. Having never played Kingdom Hearts that much I can't say how good it looks in comparison to the games but overall it looks amazing. I'm stunned at how accurate the Great Hall is though from How to Train Your Dragon. The attention to detail is fascinating! I can even see the lines in the wood!

And of course as always your dragons and snakes look fabulous.

The Cone of Shame is a joke in the discord server I run. xD Mujaffa got himself kicked for breaking a few rules so I gave him a 'Cone of Shame' role as a joke afterward. Then I just used it to tease him for a while. xD

And another WIP of the panther below! She's actually a character from one of my stories- one that won't be going public for a while. I love her so much, even if she's one of the main antagonists. I love my antagonists. xD And yeah, the picture still isn't done. The hiatus put everything on hold. Sometimes I'll do a tonal study- a rough greyscale version of the paintings before I do the more polished version. Helps me plan a bit more, especially ones with higher value contrast.

And yes! The dragon was fun! Got some new art to share from before the hiatus- not much since. The below are also postcard images. They were also both available on redbubble as stickers. Unfortunately, the Sylveon one got taken down rather quickly. The baby Mist and chibi dragon from my previous post are still up though. (Naya got taken down too D=)

They got taken down cause Redbubble copyright rules. Someone must've reported the Naya and Sylveon ones. Somehow Mist didn't get noticed. xD I was at least able to order one of each before they got removed- so I'll have a Naya on my laptop soon!

The two drawings were from one of the previous request streams. I usually end up happy with the request stream sketches- especially those two. Couldn't help but finish them. Honestly, the world needs more baby Mist drawings. <3

Oh, because they're Nintendo's characters? Boooo. That's lamesauce and boo on the snitch who reported it. Tattle-tale. >:(

That kind of reminds me of what happened to my Flash work on Newgrounds. They KILLED EVERYTHING that had copyrighted music in it. Which was like everything decent I ever had on that site. All part of the war on fans and word of mouth advertising!

Although... with your skills, I'm sure coming up with unique and entirely original characters and creatures is easy cheesy for you.

Yeah. I understand the whole reasoning for not wanting mass amounts of Pokemon stuff on redbubble- it DOES take from potential revenue from Pokemon/Nintendo by offering competition. That said, I'd be far more okay with the takedowns if Nintendo/Pokemon would give us more official stickers to buy so we don't have to make our own.

And yeah, I'll be adding some original stickers up over time. And more Pokemon ones. The ones that get taken down get taken down, the ones that don't... well- stickers for all!

They weren't even up for 3 hours. xD I've looked around for other sites that will allow for sticker printing, but the pricing is too high elsewhere. I can order stickers for 2.50 on redbubble- custom stickers elsewhere require bulk orders (250+) or are $10 a piece.

That wigglytuff is adorable! And I love that commission you finished.

Yeee! Thanks! Was going for a Hybrid- not sure if the other Pokemon in there is too subtle or not. Azumarill- they're very similar in shape/structure, so wasn't sure how to add some of Azumarill's traits in without being too overpowering.

---

And I'm really proud of that commission. Spent so much time on it and it came out so nicely!

Put together a quick breakdown of how I work on digital paintings. This obviously isn't the exact process, but gives an idea of thought process and all.

https://orig01.deviantart.net/8793/f/2017/234/d/8/robinzeraprocess_by_petuniabubbles-dbkz6m2.png

1) Sketch for composition and general placement of things.
2) Since this was going to be a piece heavily reliant on value and lgihting, I did a quick value/tonal study to see how it would look.
3) Color blocking. Just establish all the shapes in the image.
4) Character flats. The character clearly isn't just a single color flat color, so added gradients, markings, etc.
5) Character shading. General shadows and some lighting on the character.
6) Character details. Add in the rim lights and some smaller details to help pop the character from the background more
7) Background roughs. Use shadows to show the 'form' of the background objects. Sky is colored to add contrast to the character and other important focal points.
8) Background textures. Painted in the textures of various background materials.
9) Lighting. Added in the lighting to the background objects and adjusted the shadows as necessary- especially near the character.
10) Details! Detail out the texture/light interaction some and help pop the main tree branch with a strong rim light.
11) Pushing back the background. The two background branches and the stones from them are too far in focus. They are pushed 'back' in distance so their presence in the image isn't quite as strong as that of the main branch and the character.
12) Tonal test. Take away all color to see if it still looks good as pure greyscale. A good lighting composition should read well without color!

O: Wow that is an incredible picture. The whole thing is just so awesome! >w< I LOVE the colour scheme and the lighting and everything aaahhh! And I also love that little lapras in the background! The outlines being coloured in that bright light colour where the sun hits his body is such an effective look! I love it. :D I've never thought to do that before but it works so well.

I'm always so impressed with your backgrounds because they always look amazing, and you must spend so much time on them. I do have a question though which I've been wondering for a long time--doesn't it take you five billion times longer to draw something in such a large scale? I wish I could draw at that scale and downsize it because obviously it looks better, but oh my god doesn't it take you forEVER? xD I never draw at a larger scale then downsize...which is lame because I'd like to, but when I draw bigger things, I tend to mess up shapes more easily and I feel like everything would take me twice as long. Do you find this, or is it just so normal for you now that it doesn't take you any more time?

Thank you! I love doing sunset type-lighting. So colorful. The highlighted outline is a thing I picked up from MTMTE (A comic I will forever highly recommend for both art and story.) The whole image, based on Chakra's request, was feeling very PMD. Pikachu with PMD scarf at a beach with bubbles was -screaming- PMD Time/Darkness, so I just had to add Lapras!

I spent about 4 hours on this piece total. Not too bad. With working at a scaled up size, I don't usually take much longer. I just zoom out and paint normally. The difference is I can go in and do tiny details more easily than I can at a small scale. Downsizing tends to hide a lot of the wobbly lines, so I can be a bit more loose with my lines and details and still have it look good at the end. Though, every now and then I'll load the file at 100% zoom at a spot I painted zoomed out and I'm just 'woah- is that how it really looks?!' xD In the end, it just takes a little longer to do high-res files. The biggest issue is that the massive images tend to lag my computer after a while- which means I have to wait for a bit for some actions/tools to work.

Wow Neko! Chakra's commission is GORGEOUS! Look at those colours! The bubbles are perfect too :O Can't wait to see Chakra's reaction. xD You're amazing at sunsets!

YEEE! Thank you so much! Chakra screamed to me via pm. xD Had a lot of fun with that one- bubbles are both easy and entertaining to draw.

That commission was a lot of work- showing the process or 'steps' I take with a painting approach is helpful for some, so why not? xD Tonal studies help a lot with planning paintings.

Ye- I order a few for myself and place them on my laptop or other things I'm not likely to get rid of. xD This Naya sticker has managed to stay available still- which is good considering the last Naya one got taken down within a few hours cause someone reported it for copyright (technically, Pokemon stickers aren't allowed. But sssshhhhh)

She's so cute n' fluffy! XD

That is indeed Ori! And if I'm guessing correctly, he'll definitely be colored/shaded in the next sketch request stream. The person who requested Ori last month- and for him to be lined this month- made it very clear he wants that one done. xD Ori is precious though, so YAY.

Been a chaotic semester with little to no free time. Here's some art. I've got art from class stuff, but that'll have to wait until I can coherently organize it all.

Both the Umbreons and the commission are really amazing, Neko! Even with little time you make really amazing art! The second one reminds me of something, but I can't place a finger on it. Just reminds me of something I guess. Either way it's really well done! If and when you open commissions back up you'll have to let us know! I'd make another donation to that! Really amazing colors on the second one and the lighting really works with the darkness in that setting! =D

I didn't think I'd like it much at first either. Especially since I started watching someone play it first on Youtube, but I LOVED it still all the same.

Yeah I kinda figured it would take awhile to catch up on all commission work and such before you open them back up with some free time and such too. I just know once you open them back up, I can't miss out! It'll be well worth the wait too. It's so amazing! :D

I think sometimes the best games are the ones you didn't expect to love. You go in with lowered expectations and then are pleasantly surprised by what you find. Ori was definitely one of those! xD

Yeaaah. I'm still behind, but I hope to start working on them again this week once I get a tiny PRS buffer ready.

Oh yeah for sure! I think that was another thing about Undertale. It was so unexpected from a game that looked like that. Just how far it delved into everything and how deep the story actually went. The soundtrack too! It first pulled me in because some tracks I listened to gave me PMD vibes. It was on sale so I gave it a shot. I just....couldn't stop paying xD.Ori did the same that I just had to buy the Definitive Edition later on too! When I saw the trailer at E3 last year I couldn't contain my excitement haha.

Oh wow, that Cacnea is really awesome! The Beautiflu with it as well?! Such great detail too!

With Undertale there's been so much hype and too many people screaming in my face to play it that I actively don't want to play it. One day I'll get to it. When people stop being annoying about it. xD

Ori's soundtrack is drop dead gorgeous. <3 I could listen to it all day!

It's sometimes hard to see friends go through tough times and be unable to do anything to help them. Making stuff doesn't solve their issues- but it certainly does let them know "Hey- I'm here for ya!"

No new art, but a request stream notice. I will be doing a 5+ hour stream taking sketch requests. It will start between 6:20 and 7:00 central time and last until I die or get tired. Whichever happens first.

Request Stream Rules

- Patrons of the $5+ tiers get priority.

- *Only people who are considered regulars can request. This is to prevent random people from popping in, making a request, then leaving immediately after while never participating in any other stream, SJ/DA activities, the discord, etc. etc.

- You must be present when your turn comes or you will be skipped. Again, to prevent people from popping in and leaving. (Exceptions are Patrons and the most amazing regulars!)

- No NSFW or fetish requests.

- You may request I line a previously requested sketch or color a previously lined request. The previous request does not need to be your own.

- Tell the list keeper that you want to be added- not me. The chat can move fast during request streams and I might miss over things. The list keeper is typically Robin or Rune. If neither are present, I'll pick someone else.

- Please have a request idea before you ask to be added to the list. Waiting for people to say what they want wastes time that could be used for other people's requests.

- Have any references ready prior to your turn. Again- the less time wasted, the more requests we can get through.

- I have the right to refuse any request for any reason.

- If there are no more people on the list, we start over from the beginning!

*PXR people are counted as regulars cause they are faces I recognize and know. This rule is mostly for the DA posting since we've had people I've never seen in any form come in, request, then leave. It's annoying and takes away from those who have been supportive of PRS and my work.

I love how he looks! The combo of hard and vivid light plus the white outlining really makes him pop.

I love messing with layer blend modes- hard light and vivid are my favorite for certain lighting effects- I do use overlay a lot too for PRS since it's not quite as intense as what Vivid light can do. xD Vivid is great for just really saturated lighting colors.

The white outline is actually something I picked up from MTMTE. I noticed a few of my favorite panels would color the lineart white or various colors for a little extra pop of the lighting and I started messing with it myself. xD

These turned out really well, Neko! Wonderful work as usual! Designs are fantastic!:D

Ye! There will be more request streams. xD Hopefully I can maintain that monthly schedule from here on out. =D

And thank you! Always some interesting stuff out of the request streams.

WIP of a commission that I've been working on and off with for a while. Still plenty of work to do, but It'll get done eventually.

Hah! NOW it's done. =D Over 11 hours of work but I'm so happy. -bounces- <3 I'm gonna find a nice warm corner to die in though. Paintings are exhausting.

THAT IS FLIPPIN' AMAZING!

Yeah, those additions and details to the background definitely give it a lot more bang! 11 hours, yeah, that's crazy but it really shows with the quality of the work you put into this. Plus wow, you detailed all those individual scales on the dragon! I couldn't do that. I'd go INSANE if I tried to do that. I'd get too lazy and say nah, basic shading and highlights are good enough. But really, what you did with this looks really, REALLY fantastic!

And yeah, art takes a darn long time. Just a normal full character drawing takes me 3-4 hours and that's without a background. But seriously, this is incredible and really beautiful. This isn't just motivation, this is really dedicated discipline in art mastery. Be proud, because these are incredible skills you have. :3

Thank you! =D I had a ton of fun with that commission. Except for the part where I accidentally deleted all the scales and didn't realize until it was too late to undo. Had to redo those. xD I think they came out better the 2nd time around anyway~! I do love detailing stuff- so those things like scales, rim lights, textures, etc. tend to be relaxing for me.

And heck yeah- people think art is easy peasy and takes no time at all for artists. Reality is that it takes even the most experienced artists a while to make awesome art. Maybe not as long as less experienced artists- but you get the point. xD I'm nearly done with my current commission list and that makes me so happy. xD

New Op:RoF page. It's a collab comic like PMDXR. Same general idea, no planning, take turns, etc. My turn finally came around again so here we go.

Thank you! Always fun for me to do high contrast lighting. The story is a bit of a mess, but that's what you get in these big collab projects. xD

Yee! Thank you! ^_^ My art typically leans towards the cutesy side but I do try to draw some more varied stuff when I can. xD

Another Patron Request: It was a 'do whatever you want' request so I went and finished my Nargacuga Kitten sketch. Then I took it a step forward and created a Nargakitten army.

For you non-hunters around here, here's what each of these critters are:

Nargacuga: The original. Fast, stealthy, and deadly. Spike tail to smash faces with.
Lucent Nargacuga: Rare Sub-species. Rare and particularly deadly. Can turn invisible and has poison spikes.
Green Nargacuga: Sub-species. Extra mean but not quite as stealthy. Fast to kill.
Silverwind Nargacuga: Deviant species. If normal Nargacuga wasn't frightening enough, homing projectiles and blades of wind.
Fiercewater Nargacuga: Variant species. That one kitty that likes to play in the water. And probably kill you with it.

They are precious. xD Of course, their actual in-game counterparts are a force to be reckoned with. A play a weapon that doesn't do as well with Nargacuga since these kitty-wyverns are speedy and hard to target. I've beaten regular Nargacuga- never fought Lucent, Green, or Fiercewater (since they're not in the game/s I currently play)... And Silverwind... that was the single fastest wipeout I ever had in a quest.

Here's actual images of the Nargacuga family.

THAT. BAGELGOOSE. IS AMAZING. I love it, it's so cute.

I actually only played 4U (*shifty eyes at my 330+ hours on it...*) and World; Generations lost my attention, but that might be because I'd just grinding out my Gogmazios armor on 4U when Generations came out, and the servers somewhat died and I couldn't use the thing I'd just spent hours grinding, lmfao.

Love your sketches; you're great with poses and giving them life! You also draw some great wings and some beautiful feathers--it's apparent you've done a lot of studying/practice on that front. Absolutely lovely!

You're right. I'll have to fix that. xD

I draw fast cause Quantity > Quality.

A FELLOW HUNTER. =D YEEEEE! I've played 3U, 4U, Gen, and World so far. Hoping to pick up GU in August. =D Love the series- but I can agree on the grind. Sometimes the games just wear you out enough that you need a break. xD There's still people playing 4U- not as many as there used to be, but it's still active. If you ever need people to play with, the discord server I host has a bunch of people who play- mostly beginners/intermediate players but a few of us are further in. I'm the only one with 4U I think- we've got a handful with Gen and a handful with World. =) We're always happy to lend a hand.

Bagelgoose is one of my favorite new ones. I'll be making him available as a sticker on Redbubble later on. He'll be on my PS4 to protect it. xD

And thank you! I've worked a lot to try improving my anatomy and whatnot- it's always a process. xD

New arts + a video! I upload a new public and new patron video each week (the public uploads being the same as patreon ones- just 5-6 months later)- this one went straight to public since it's short and also collab. It's the lineart from the Pass It On drawing game here on PXR that y'all should totally join. Credit to Arrow-Jolteon for the sketch!

The art is another patron request. Still a few more of those to get done. xD
