Hey there!

Awesome :) Who directed you to us? It has had a good ASBL, but it's currently in transition so you may find it... not so good currently. If you're intending to stick around though, I can guarantee you that it will be great again in a few weeks time!

And the URPG is great and popular too! But I'll let someone with more knowledge of it tell you more :P

And finally, welcome! I look forward to seeing you around :)

Hey jerm$ and welcome to PXR!

From what have seen yeah it looks great! I haven't personally tried ASB yet. I've had more fun watching whenever one went on. Right now I think they are working on a better system for it (a 2.0 or something like that?). So if you would like to stick around I'm sure someone will be glad to help you get started once things are up and running better again over there. Soon it should be back better than before. =D

I'm not a big expert on the URPG myself. I look there from time to time, but still don't have the full idea behind it yet. Again not having participated myself yet I'll just explain what I've seen (and if it's wrong someone can correct me). Basically you created a character and write the story over time to do things such as catching Pokemon, battling, and there's often time events held. Be sure to check out that section though if you're interested in more.

Hiya! Welcome to PXR!

I don't participate in any of those myself, but I know they're tonnes of fun! I'm sure you'll fit in fine. :3

Hello! Welcome to PXR. :D I don't participate in either the ASBL or the URPG (mind you, I tried both of them at different times... One day I might try again!) but I know that they are well loved.

I hope to see you around! :]

I guess I should attempt to explain URPG. I'm bad at explaining this, so feel free to ask me anything that's confusing you (or post here (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?2586-URPG-General-Chat-Questions-Suggestions)). If you want further details, you can check out all the info available on our centralized infohub (http://urpg.monbrey.com.au/info/). But for now, here is my attempt at explaining it:

URPG has five main sections and a trial section. The main sections are:
Battles: Almost identical to in game battles but with a few changes. There is no four move limit (and there also aren't restrictions based on method moves are obtained, for instance a Charizard accepts TM Reflect even though it only does in gen 1 games and event moves can be acquired no matter the origins of the event). Critical hits cannot occur unless something increases the chance of it (such as using Slash or Focus Energy, other critical hit rates are unchanged). Randomized damage is fixed. An attack that does a certain amount of damage will always do that much damage in the same circumstances. Stats are also equal to the values of having both maximum IVs and EVs in every stat with neutral nature.
Contests: Again, almost identical to those found in the games with some changes. There are contests based on Hoenn contests in RSE and based on Sinnoh contests in DPPt, as well as another mode made specifically for URPG. Again there is no four move limit. Moves more recent than the original generation were filled in by the Head of Contests at the time of move release, so more recent moves are still usable. [ORAS contests have been in a bit of a limbo because of this]
Stories: Those who are good with story-writing (or even those who aren't) can write stories to capture Pokémon. Pokémon are divided into ranks based on a variety of criteria, higher ranks have more requirements on what stories can pass while lower ranks are pretty easy to achieve if you just make a good effort, even if you're not a great story writer.
Art: Similarly, you can use pretty much any form of art you can think of to capture Pokémon, again with various ranks being easier or harder. I've seen art forms varying from Minecraft sculptures to actual sculptures to banners to hand-drawn pictures to tapestries to Photoshop-made images and more.
National Park: The main RP area, you can bring a few of the Pokémon you've acquired into the park with the ability to capture more Pokémon while you are in there.

It's worth mentioning that while it sounds like you need to be artistically skilled to get Pokémon, it's entirely possible to get what you want without any level of artistic skill, but obviously it still requires effort in other places. For instance, I have barely any artistic talent in any of those three last areas and still have managed to get 129 Pokémon, I think the second most (maybe third) out of anyone I'm aware of. Pokémon can be acquired at the Pokémart (with currency earned by participating in the non-artistic areas or by doing a profession for any of those areas) or Berry Store (with currency earned through Contests). Things not obtainable in either of those can usually be acquired by trading (things acquirable at the mart) with someone who acquires them from writing, art, or the park.

The trial section isn't yet here, but it's a different RP-based section. That can be checked out here (http://forums.petalburgwoods.com/forumdisplay.php/465-After-Hours) if that's something you might like.

While it is possible to do all things related to URPG on the forums, most people prefer to use an instant messenger to speed things up, lately we've been using Discord. We still have AIM, Skype, and IRC chats but none of them are particularly used anymore. If you need invites to any of those, feel free to ask me or any other URPG Staff member or post here (http://www.pokemoncrossroads.com/forum/showthread.php?2587-Active-URPG-AIM-Skype-and-Discord-List). We're always happy to answer questions and get things like chat invites taken care of!

If you have any questions, feel free to ask me here or by VM/PM! If you do reply in the thread, you should probably quote or mention me because it may take a while to see it otherwise.

Welcome to PxR jerm$! Well, you're not the only one waiting for the ASB to kick back in action. We're all waiting for the update to come out (due soon). But I hope you explore the rest of the forums too!

Yeah, though our URPG is a little less active than BG's; that's to be expected, though, since BG's such a large community! ASB is also under construction, but should be finished shortly!

Hopefully that doesn't deter you, though! We're a tight-knit community and there are a lot of things to talk about around here. However long you plan to stay, hope you enjoy it!
