No one took them seriously. They were just a bunch of crazies with silly outfits and an impossible dream. Even the local trainers who fought them off every time they showed up just thought of them as regular nuisances that showed up like clockwork.
But that thinking may have doomed us all.
Welcome to the region of Sinnoh, a land once known for its rich history and big cities. Now, it’s known for tragedy. As best as anyone can tell, several weeks ago Cyrus of Team Galactic finally succeeded in summoning Dialga and Palkia, the legendary rulers of time and space, and his request for them to create a new world according to his vision didn't go over very well.
Very few people were aware of the meeting that took place that day, but they (and we all) became aware as soon as half of Mt. Coronet simply disappeared, leaving an empty abyss in its wake. If that wasn't bad enough, spatial distortions have been added to the mix, manifesting as rifts of varying size that tend to hover in midair, like a gaping rip in the fabric of the world. These rifts, however, do not simply appear--they announce their presence by generating almost explosive outward bursts or doing the opposite, pulling everything towards it like a less powerful cousin of a black hole. Regardless of whether they generate force outward or pull everything inward, they are also accompanied by what has been dubbed the “Ripple Phenomena,” in which a single wave of varying strength (thought to be linked to rift size) travels outward in a single ripple some distance from the rift on all sides, and is believed to bend time and space inside and around everything it touches. Buildings and objects have be comically bent, aged at astonishing speeds, mutated in different and bizarre manners.
But most of all, it has been proven to affect humans and Pokemon alike. Some have gone missing, others appear to have been transported from where they were standing when brought into contact with the Ripple to where the ripple ended. Some have suffered or benefited from physical mutations, and according to slowly emerging recent reports…
Well, some have developed “superpowers.” A young girl was seen floating several feet off the ground in Eternia City, a little boy rescued from the tragic rift appearance in Veilstone was suddenly capable of making the ground shake with his screams. Another Veilstone survivor is rumored to sport abilities simply described as being "Ditto-like." As a result, the Sinnoh government issued the order to have a special task force created to deal with the rifts, study the Ripple Phenomena, and handle survivors--particularly those of the mutated and superpowered persuasion following the declaration of a state of emergency in the region.
To make matters worse, reports are surfacing that Team Galactic members are attempting to continue to recruit people, insisting the rifts are the pathway to a new world, and should not be bothered, going as far as to fight off government affiliated people attempting approach newer rifts in order to perform research. Some have mutated Pokemon and people at their disposal. In other areas, crime has skyrocketed, both at the hands of the mutated and the twisted opportunists, meanwhile some places are filled with people trying to continue on like nothing is wrong.
Oh, and while some smaller rifts have disappeared in time, the larger ones seem to be getting bigger. The appearance rates of rifts of all sizes seem to be picking up. If things aren't sorted out soon, this could be the end for Sinnoh.
So are you going to help save Sinnoh, bury your head in the sand, or help wipe the region off the map?
Need-to-Know
The task force is headed by one Miss Astrid Kain, former head of criminal interrogations for the Sinnoh FBI, and accepts volunteers from both civilians and those affected by the Ripple Phenomena. Ripple survivors, however, are often paired with volunteers or higher ranking agents in order to keep mass hysteria from breaking out.
Ripple affected Pokemon are rare--it seems the Phenomena affects humans more frequent
It's been theorized that a person's personality may affect their mutation, as such, no two Ripple mutations have been found to manifest in the same way
The largest and most destructive rift appearance to date occurred shortly after the disappearance of half of Mt Coronet, in Veilstone City, which has since been evacuated. Most people try to avoid the city entirely, if possible, and a large number of those sporting Ripple mutations from this event specifically are under the care of the task force.
No one is sure who is in charge of Team Galactic now, as neither Cyrus nor his officers have surfaced, and no one else has publicly announced taking over.

Name: Astrid Kain
Age: 26
Gender: Female
Powers/Mutations: None
Affiliation: Task Force (Head)
Appearance: Looking at Astrid, most people would find it easy to question why this woman of all people, was chosen as the head of the Sinnoh FBI’s interrogation division, and then the head of the task force. Overall, she’s a rather average looking woman, standing 5’8” without the added height of her favorite mid-rise pumps, just under 6’ with them, and sporting clear, fair skin. She often wears her board straight chocolate brown hair in a ponytail or bun, and her hazel eyes stare down the world from behind black wire-rimmed glasses. Her wardrobe is almost nothing but professional clothing, an army of neutral colored button ups, blazers, vests, and pencils skirts, though sometimes she may wear a nice blouse or slacks instead, and she is almost never seen without her favorite pair of mid-rise black pumps on her feet. Do be wary of the fact her blazers contain a number of inner pockets which she uses to store...pretty much everything that isn’t paperwork.
Personality: Most people’s first impressions of Astrid Kain include the observation that “She should get out more.” She’s a workaholic that is known for being more business-minded than makes sense. Back when she was starting out, she seemed to care about nothing more than advancing her position, and wasn’t afraid to do the dirty work no one else wanted to get there, and she still isn’t. She has a tendency not to sugarcoat things, and it often causes others to wonder if she has emotions--she does, but feels the workplace isn’t the place for them. She’s also a terror where interrogation is concerned, employing the use of a razor-sharp silver tongue, a knack for twisting peoples’ words and logic against them, and a rather unsettling combination of mannerisms that would be considered cute or charming coming from anyone else in any other situation. She is also determined to figure out how to stop the rifts from appearing and close those that currently exist. Those that stand between her and this goal may want to move before they get steamrolled.
History: Astrid Kain will be the first to admit she was raised to be a villain. Born the only daughter to a pair of high ranking business workers (her mother the personal secretary of a big-time CEO, and her father among the leading minds of a popular marketing company,), Astrid was more often treated as a tiny adult instead of a child. She was often found roaming either parent’s office buildings from a young age, and played the role of charming, pint-sized intern for a time, but not for long. By the age of seven, the girl was learning to navigate her mother’s file cabinets like a pro, and by ten, her mother had already begun to teach her daughter that only the most ruthless, cunning members of the business world got to the top...and she was expected to follow in her parents footsteps, then go beyond them. With her parents going out of their way to keep Astrid away from her grandparents and other family, it wasn’t as though the little girl ever had any other big influence in her life that told her she didn’t have to listen to her parents. At least, not until she met Simon Huber.
Simon, as far as Astrid and her parents were concerned, was a member of the bottommost layer of the corporate food chain. He started on as a mailroom worker in the company Astrid’s mother worked for when the girl was twelve. A nice guy--too nice for his own good--Simon did his best to try and befriend the young girl, and pull her into his good-natured stunts around the office. He tried to teach Astrid the meaning of fun, the value of emotions, and became almost a big brother figure to her, not that he could protect her from the biggest issue of all. Instead of shielding her from her parents, he simply did his best to undo the damage they had done in treating their child like she was twelve going on thirty. He didn’t succeed much, though Astrid would never admit she appreciate having at least one friend. Her serious attitude and above-average intelligence led her to be an outcast in school, and fantastic class grades weren’t enough to fill the emptiness left by her lack of communication with others. She didn’t go on a Pokemon journey like most kids, either, only earning her team members through short excursions in her time off, driven by the idea that if she were to play the bad guy, she would need a powerful team to back her up.
Astrid went out on her own to get a job when she was seventeen, and surprised everyone when she set her sights on the Sinnoh FBI. It seemed that at least some of Simon’s attempts to make her more “normal” had succeeded, and she joined on as a standard secretary meant to deal with the organization of case files and information. Over the years, however, Astrid worked her way up through the ranks, not caring about what she had to do, or who she had to step on to do it. In the end, she landed herself a position in the interrogation division, and proceeded to claw her way to the top--where after nine years of doing other people's dirty work and playing villain to get from sharp-tongued filer and coffee-bringer, she finally emerged as the head of the division. She called her parents to break the news first, secretly ecstatic, despite the fact she tried to keep a calm face and voice...only to have her parents dismiss her. They wanted a CEO, they wanted the head of the FBI, not the head of a single division, surely Astrid could do better than that. Surely she could. By the time she thought to call Simon, who she had continued to stay in touch with, despite her parents’ objections, she was expecting everyone to be as displeased as they had been.
Instead, the man was just as ecstatic as her--a little disappointed she had turned her career into being a villain, but she was still doing it for the good of others as well as herself, right? Not only did he praise her, but he told her that a celebration was in order. He would have to wait another two months before his own company would allow him to take time off, since he was on a business trip in Kanto, but he would put in for vacation to come visit and celebrate her promotion with her. The offer made Astrid happy--happier than she ever would have cared to admit, and even her coworkers noticed that the following week, she had more spring in her step. Everything was perfect, everything was great, and finally her accomplishments were going to be recognized, even if it wasn’t by her parents. She counted down the days until Simon’s arrival like a kid would count down to Christmas. The week he was due to arrive, he told Astrid his travel plans, that he would be stopping in Veilstone City for a night to visit another pair of friends as well, and he would meet her in Jubilife two days later...except that didn’t happen,
Astrid was at work when she heard about the Veilstone rift incident, which happened the day Simon was supposed to be heading to the city, and panicked. Mercifully, she and several other members of the interrogation division were dispatched out among the teams sent to Veilstone to figure out just what the heck had happened. The problem with sending the interrogation crew, however, was that there weren’t many people left to interrogate--few, shaken individuals who had been too far away to see the event, and the many unfortunate individuals who had been harmed by the event itself, and the division’s members ended up helping did through the wreckage and attempt to find survivors...and marveling at the damage. The lampposts tied in knots, glass melting out of windows, buildings ripped in half, the list of damage went on and on, as did the horrors. Some people were already displaying mutations, some were already displaying powers--she saw one rescue crew speeding down the street with what looked like a human charcoal briquette on a stretcher, and all Astrid could really think about was finding simon and making sure the only person who had ever seemed to care about her was okay. What she found, however, broke her heart. She eventually found the man sprawled on the ground just off the path into the city, looking as though he’d been picked up and hurled by some kind of force and slammed into something else hard enough to break his legs in several places...and he’d been here because he’d been on his way to visit her. She brought medical help to him after confirming he was still alive. At the very least, it should have been an isolated incident, but it wasn’t. As the days passed, more rifts appeared, more damage was done.
There was talk of bringing a force together in order to investigate the rifts and manage the aftermath. A force that included government personnel working alongside civilian volunteers, Ripple affectees and non-affectees alike. Simon was discharged from the hospital, however they decided he needed to be monitored--something about his legs was off… Astrid threw herself into the efforts to have the force pulled together officially, efforts that succeeded. And she was placed in charge. She learned the charcoal briquette of a person she’d seen in Veilstone that day was alive and recovering, she learned that there were others that wanted to help, and others that had had much taken away from them in the incidents. She learned that her parents had been killed when the Veilstone Rift had exploded by the office building they had been working in, and that was when she realized she had known they were there, but had only been worried about Simon. This revelation shocked her, but only made her resolve to figure out who or what was behind the rift and stop them. She would make her parents proud, even if they couldn’t see her accomplishments firsthand...but he would do it how she wanted. And that was when she took in Avery and Kione as her charges. She told herself it was because Simon needed others to talk to than her, since he couldn’t leave the house--his legs simply weren’t healing, and she needed people she could trust with him. What she also told herself was that it wasn’t because she felt sorry for them, and that she didn’t want to be alone with her thoughts for a moment outside of work. Even if it was true.

Prim, the female Meowstic
Moby, the male Dewgong
Boss, the male Pangoro
Ciel, the male Ferrothorn
Zip, the female Zebstrika
Rocky, the male Rhydon
Other:
Name: Unknown, answers to Avery Doe
Age: Unknown
Gender: Unknown, answers to most conventional pronouns with no preference, though strongly dislikes being called "it"
Powers/Mutations: The ability to morph their physical appearance based on those they have touched, and occasionally very strong imagination and concentration, but must be humaniod in form
Affiliation: Task Force, partnered with Astrid
Appearance: Given the nature of Avery’s abilities and the circumstances in which they were gained, they have no “default” appearance. In fact, they are most easily identified as being “The one task force member that no one recognizes,” largely because Avery’s appearance can change numerous times over the course of the day, without rhyme or reason, and has seemingly no preference in body features. The easiest way to identify Avery is the single constant in their wardrobe--a “Hello, my name is __Avery__” sticker affixed to the upper left side of their chest on their outermost layer of clothing.
Personality: It is actually easier to identify Avery by their personality as opposed to their appearance, as it does not change near as often as their face does. Most days, Avery is cheerful and outgoing, quick to smile and ask if they can be of any help. They make friends easily, and do their best to keep everyone around them in good spirits. This does not, however, help fill the void left by the loss of their memories, and Avery often finds themself attempting to remember or fighting the feeling of incredible loss when left alone. They are usually found close to Kione, who they have formed an odd friendship with.
History: Little is known of Avery’s life before the Veilstone rift incident, as it’s thought that the trauma of the event led Avery to accidentally block out every memory of the life they knew before a single, earth-shattering explosion and the building they had been standing near collapsing on them in a hail of fire and brick. When rescue workers found what was left of Avery, they couldn't believe someone that horribly burned could possibly be alive, and wrote them off as dead. As they moved to walk away, however, the impossible happened--the severely burnt heap of human whined. This person was still alive after all.
Avery was transported to a hospital as quickly as possible for treatment, however the damage had been done--they could not repair the damage done to the...victim’s body. They couldn't even tell if the poor person was male or female, as the Ripple seemed to have wiped anything capable of identifying the body clean, and without the victim awake, they didn't want to risk reconstructive surgery. But that was when the strangest thing began to happen…
The body began repairing the damage itself. As doctors and nurses came into contact with the body’s skin, it began to reshape itself into the form of a very androgynous looking young adult. Once introduced to the frequent touch of a quiet girl who began visiting the room regularly, it began to resemble the girl herself, and by the time the body’s owner regained consciousness, all of its individuality was gone, as was the person’s memory. That person eventually picked up the name Avery after getting sick of arguments as to whether they were a John or Jane Doe. They began experimenting with their ability, taking faces from the hospital staff who touched them and trying to combine them with other body types, and have slowly begun to push boundaries and create their own bodies and faces in an effort to try and find something, anything, that looks familiar. Without any idea who they are or any way for them to be identified, Avery has decided to stay with the task force and offer their abilities where need be. They have also formed and odd friendship with their frequent hospital visitor, a girl who goes by the name of Kione.

Name: Kione
Age: Claims to be 19, looks younger
Gender: Female
Powers/Mutations: The ability to manipulate electronics by touching them, and in rare cases, electronics in close proximity to her without touching them. Attempts at verbal speech come out sounding like static.
Affiliation: Task Force, partnered with Astrid
Appearance: Kione is an odd little thing, standing in at about 5’3” and weighs maybe 100 pounds soaking wet. She's got a bit of a baby face, and most people tend to assume she's far younger than the 19 years old she claims to be...until you see her get her hands on electronics, but that's a different story. Large, round-framed glasses tend to sit at the end of her nose, and make her dark brown eyes look larger than they are, while her wavy, chin length hair appears to be dyed bright pink, though a fraction of dark brown roots can be seen at the top of her head. She's often seen wearing a simple gray t-shirt and faded bermuda shorts, all mostly hidden under a too-large, blue zip-up hoodie, and a newer pair of blue tennis shoes cover her feet...when outside. Otherwise, she tends to wander barefoot, and is rarely seen without some kind of electronic device in hand.
Personality: Kione is, most easily put, a strange one. She tends to come off as reserved, and typically prefers to listen to conversations rather than participate, unless you get her going about electronics. She clearly knows her way around computers extremely well--like one might know their way around their home. She doesn't like talking about her past much, and since it would seem her public records and such were lost somewhere is the chaos surrounding the rifts and Ripple Phenomena, most of her comrades know very little about her beyond her computer skill. Oh, and that she is desperate to find out what's happened to a young man named Martin Bloom, though she won't explain why it is the knowledge is important to her.
Despite her quiet, she seems to have developed a friendship with Avery, and is quick to tell when they have adopted a new guise. She also gets along well with Astrid, though she has admitted to liking computers much more than people, and can often be found hiding in rooms dedicated to electronics when the people around her get to be too much for her to handle.
History: Kione was born in Mauville City, Hoenn, to a family who worked on the machines in the game corner. It was her father who gave her her love for computers and their inner workings, and taught her how the machines worked from a young age. She quickly picked up on his teachings, and became entranced with the worlds that computers hold inside them, growing a particular love for toying with coding, which led to her eventually turning tinkering with old, “busted,” game machines to turn them into something new into a well-loved hobby. Unfortunately, following the recent closure of the Mauville Game Corner, her family moved to Sunnyshore in Sinnoh. She, however, went to visit an old friend of a friend in Veilstone City shortly after arriving due to problems with her personal computer that she couldn't figure out how to fix. Lucky her, she went to visit on the day the Veilstone rift incident occurred.
At least, that’s how she tells it.
The truth is, no one on the Task Force can find much in the way of records for a Kione Sirkut in Sinnoh databases, and asking Hoenn is pretty much useless, with the spotty communication Sinnoh is experiencing. What they do know for sure is that Kione was rescued from an apartment belonging to a Jenna Marel in Veilstone City in the hours following the incident. The easiest way to verify the girl’s story would be to speak with Ms. Marel, however the woman appears to have suffered some of the more dangerous effects of the Ripple, and is thought to be the soot outline found against one of the apartment’s walls. Kione herself was found in shock, and ran away from rescue workers, spouting unintelligible static beyond the point they managed to corner, subdue, and take the girl in. She has since joined the task force, claiming she hasn't got anywhere else to go, and that she wants to help, though she seems to have difficulty adjusting to life as it is now.

Name: Abigail "Abby" Lazuli
Age: 15
Gender: Female
Powers/Mutations: Abby is capable of phasing herself and, with greater effort, some items in her proximity (namely clothes, trinkets, etc.) through objects, although the longer the amount of time she spends being intangible the harder it is to return to normal.
Affiliation (and Position): Neutral
Appearance: If only she had had more of a backbone, Abby could have been well on her way to becoming the queen bee of her high school with her looks, but personality and the rifts changed that. Despite the changes and traumas she has been through since then, there is still evidence of this, although it shows more in her poise and grace. Long blonde hair, once meticulously straightened and combed has reverted to its natural curls, with the golden locks cascading well down the teen's back. Of an average height, Abby's figure skater's figure has began to return to a more healthy weight without the pressure of having to live up to her peers' recommendation of whatever latest dieting fad was sweeping Kalos. Where once she wore the latest fashions ordered from the Veilstone Department Store, now Abby hides her body in a series of loose-fitting sweatshirts and t-shirts donated by relief organizations to various flea markets and thrift stores and has taken to wearing jeans and sneakers instead of skirts and heels, more out of an apprehension about her altered body than any desire for comfort.
Personality: It is fitting that the transfer student from Floaroma would gain a reputation as a professional wallflower. While her looks and status as a newcomer untainted by the rumors and drama of middle school allowed her to gain entrance with the most popular clique of females in her high school, the truth is that Abby never felt a hundred percent comfortable with them, or with any people for that matter. She would have rather been sketching pictures of her Pokemon or practicing the guitar than hitting up malls and talking about homecoming, but it made her parents happy to see their withdrawn daughter engage with people in some capacity, so she went along with it. That has been the story of Abby's life thus far. She did not make a peep about moving to Eternia City from Floaroma because she thought that it was what her parents wanted, she did not turn down Jonah Fischer when he asked her to homecoming because that could have possibly led to a confrontation, and she did not protest when her parents told her to keep her head down and let the authorities handle the upheavals the country is going through. Only now, after experiencing all of the changes that the time since the first rift opened and making limited attempts to hone her powers, is this quiet, sensitive young woman beginning to push back against people and trying to separate what she wants from what other people want.
History: Up until the rifts, Abby lived a fairly ordinary life, growing up in Floaroma Town and going on a Pokemon journey at the age of ten with her first Pokemon, an Eevee. When she returned after a year of traveling, her parents were beginning to experience some marital difficulties, exacerbated a few years later by the shutdown of the Fuego Iron Works and, with it, its various vendors and suppliers that provided employment for not only Abby's parents but for most people in the town. Looking for work, they moved to Eternia City and the teen quickly fell in with the popular crowd at her high school, although she was always more of a background figure in the clique than a leader, silently going along with plans both big and small. It was this easygoing nature that caused her to accept a boy in her class's invitation to the homecoming dance her sophomore year. A week before the dance, Abby was in the Eternia Forest sketching the abandoned mansion where a small ripple had occurred within the moss-covered structure, warping the already haunting building into a distortion of its former self. Unknown to the girl, her cells were bombarded with the mysterious force that caused the ripple. The effects became apparent at the dance when the girl sunk through the polished hardwood floor into the basement, leaving her green dress lying in a heap.
Although winding up in the high school boiler room scared and naked, the media luckily did not pick up the story and run with it like they did with the flying girl from the next district, and several other students manifested powers in far more flashy demonstrations. Abby was saved from having to choose between a reputation as a freak or a nudist by the state of emergency and the growth of the rift in the Eternia Forest shut down the school and prompted a mass exodus of people to other cities for safety. Now Abby is heading to Jubilife with her family and unsure of what the future holds.

Noblejanobii I look forward to seeing your SU!
Phantasm.Angel Looks good, barring two minor things--is her name Meredith or Abby, and is she, or is she not on the task force? I see things that suggest both in the SU. XD Accepted once those two things are clarified.
Neo Emolga I can't even begin to imagine how Nathan looks, aside from "flowery hula dancer." SU looks fine, though. Accepted.

Note to self: Think hard about writing a sign-up at three in the morning... I had an idea for the aforementioned "Ditto girl", but then I realized that there were already a few shapeshifters, so I started with a new idea from scratch. xD
Edited now, so it should be good provided I am not being totally stupid right now.

If anyone gets the reference in Opal's Pokemon names, I will give them one thousand dollars (untrue) and much respect (true).
Name: Opal Rouleau.
Age: 23.
Gender: Female.
Powers/Mutations: Has the ability to generate solid constructs made of what would seem to be hard light. The smaller they are and the closer they were to Opal when they were created, the stronger they are; the constructs are also bolstered when Opal is touching them.
Affiliation (and Position): Neutral. Opal likes to help people and have adventures, but she mostly wants to find her parents - and she’s seen too many sci-fi movies to trust the Task Force.
Appearance: Opal looks built for a wild life; already of good height at 5’7”, most of the muscles in her body are lightly toned from her constant activity. Her skin is light brown, broken up by a few scars - mostly about the arms, though she has one plainly visible on her chin as well - from less-than-pleasant wild encounters. She keeps her curly, dark brown hair cut short. Usually, she dresses simply in cargo shorts or pants, tee-shirts, and little-to-no makeup, though she also has a leather jacket and arm guards (like a falconer’s) that she sometimes wears when dealing with angry or rough-scaled Pokemon. She carries around a weatherbeaten leather satchel with her Legend badge displayed on the strap.
Personality: On the web, Opal presents herself as a knowledgeable, witty, slightly cocky person. Those who know her say that the only major difference is that she doesn’t have the advantage of being able to plan her jokes in advance in real life. They would also probably go on to add that she’s rather flighty, which is pretty true. While she tends to her responsibilities dutifully, she has a tendency to shirk work and avoid large-scale commitments. Furthermore, she’s also very impulsive and not particularly disciplined; she likes to jump from thing to new thing but tends to freeze when she feels that something actually important is riding on her shoulders. Opal is also an idealistic and passionate person. She’s deeply devoted to her work, and has high hopes of making a difference for the sake of the dragons she loves so much. She’s also quite cheerful and good-humored, although she can be rather out of touch when it comes to social situations. Furthermore, she’s very intelligent and quick on the draw; she knows a great deal about all sorts of Pokemon, especially dragons, and is good at staying levelheaded in immediate crises.
History: Born in Castelia City, Unova, Opal had an enjoyable childhood. Her father, as an ex-Trainer, emphasized the importance of bonding with and understanding Pokemon, which resulted in Opal being gifted with a Swablu companion at the age of twelve. At her mother’s encouragement, Opal began to do extracurricular research into Pokemon raising and handling techniques; through this research, Opal discovered a love of Dragon-types. She idolized Opelucid’s Gym Leader, Drayden, and trained both her Altaria and Gyarados in techniques just like the Opelucid masters. Much to her parents’ chagrin, rather than going to a university and nurturing her talent for research, she applied for a position as a Gym aide in Opelucid as soon as she graduated high school. Within a few months, she was testing Gym challengers as well as tutoring Dragon-type moves. Through this experience, Opal learned that even though a lot of people thought that Pokemon of the Dragon type or egg group were “cool”, many Trainers - herself included - didn’t fully understand their Pokemon and as a result often caused unnecessary destruction or distress. At the age of 20, she quit her position at the Gym in order to travel between regions, showcasing dragons of every sort and reaching out to teach people how to better appreciate the unique quirks that made dragons so difficult, but so rewarding, to raise.
Opal’s endeavor began in Unova, but she quickly began to move inter-regionally. She chronicled her journeys and dragon encounters in a video blog called “Tamer’s Travels”, which enjoyed moderate success. Between blog donations and winnings from battles and the occasional contest, she and her team didn't live in luxury, but they had enough to subsist on during their wanderings. Tamer’s Travels moved from region to region with little rhyme or reason. Usually, Opal was guided by rumors of active legends or news stories about powerful Trainers; when she heard that the Creation Duo was active, she took the excuse and went over to Sinnoh right away.
What she found was a bit different from what she’d gathered from hearsay. The Creation duo were every bit as inactive as ever, and the only people who were even talking about the two legends were a gang of LARPers called "Team Galaxy" or something. Despite this, Opal stuck around, and a few weeks after her arrival, she got a call from her mother. Her parents were looking to take a vacation, Sinnoh was close, and they wanted to meet up with their daughter again. She agreed.
Things turned pear-shaped very suddenly. In backwater Canalave, it was hard to get all of the details, but Opal understood a couple of important things. Number one, Sinnoh was now ridiculously dangerous. Number two, communications were borderline nonexistent, meaning that Opal had no idea whether her parents had gotten to Sinnoh, let alone whether they were alive. Paralyzed by indecision at first, she was eventually forced to reconsider her plan of waiting on her parents when her money began to run low. Before she could leave Canalave, however, she was caught in a mid-sized Ripple on the edge of town. She passed out as the wave hit her body but woke up a few seconds later feeling no worse for wear. She assumed that she was unscathed except by the fainting spell, until a paramedic startled her and she responded by throwing a ten foot wall of force between herself and the EMT. Confused and panicked, she fled the scene on Thomas’s back, and is now making the trek to Sunnyshore.
Pokemon Team:
Aaron/Altaria/M. As Opal’s first Pokemon, Aaron has always had a strong sense of loyalty and pride, even when he was just a child’s pet bird. Smart and a bit of a schemer, he likes to wait and watch for opportunities rather than rush into conflict. Despite his reticence in most situations, he will support Opal whenever he is needed. He's also noteworthy for being the group peacekeeper as well as a talented contest Pokemon.
Angelica/Gyarados/F. After evolving from a pathetic flopping fish that Opal had caught at the Castelia docks one day, Angelica was dedicated to becoming the most powerful Gyarados a Trainer could ask for. A quick-witted and independent Pokemon, she isn’t terribly fond of following orders, but will protect Opal or her teammates with her life.
Eliza/Hydreigon/F. Eliza was caught as a Deino after Opal was hired in Opelucid. The Opelucid Gym was full of Pokemon from the Deino line, presenting a very social environment that helped Eliza to become a bit calmer in temperament than the rest of her species. While she doesn’t mind fighting, she’s actually a surprisingly friendly Pokemon. She can often be seen cuddling with Alexander.
Thomas/Salamence/M. Caught while Opal was exploring Hoenn for signs of the Latis, Thomas was tough and show-offish when Opal caught him, and has become no less of a gloryhound over the years. He's not very fond of hard work, preferring to overwhelm opponents in a strong hit or to rather than permit a battle to drag on (ha). If Opal needs to fly long distances, Thomas is her go-to Pokemon.
Alexander/Charizard/M. While Opal was hunting rumors of an Aerodactyl nesting in the wilds near Pewter City, Kanto, she happened across a wild, free-roaming Charmeleon, which she caught. As far as Opal could ever figure out, Alexander had been released by his previous Trainer for being too difficult to train - yet another example, in her eyes, of why children shouldn’t be handling dragons without training. Rash, impetuous, and never knowing when to back down, Alexander has been only slightly mellowed out by time and tireless work with Opal. Likes to spend his time smooching Eliza.
Hercules/Gible/M. A bit of an unknown as yet; Opal caught him pretty recently. Hercules is perceptive and observant, and is always eager for a challenge. He tends to be a bit brash and loud, though not to Alexander’s extent.

Here with a (very self-indulgent) WIP SU - if the history seems disjointed, that's because it is. If anyone gets the reference in Opal's Pokemon names, I will give them one thousand dollars (untrue) and much respect (true).
What is, names of characters/historical figures from the hit Broadway musical Hamilton?

Yes, actually, knowing her.
Also, talked about this RP with you about 40000000000 times winter, so I'm gonna reserve my spot.

What is, names of characters/historical figures from the hit Broadway musical Hamilton?
Yup! They're all references to the musical (although technically they're references to the historical figures involved there, but semantics).
Yes, actually, knowing her.
I did mention I was being self-indulgent, didn't I? :D

Neo Emolga I can't even begin to imagine how Nathan looks, aside from "flowery hula dancer." SU looks fine, though. Accepted.
Yeah, you've got the right idea, though. I'm all about breaking cliches into millions of pieces. XD

WIP
Name: Dr. Travis Levi Jackson, PhD
Age: 25
Gender: Male
Powers/Mutations:
Photokinesis: Travis is capable of generating and manipulating light of any wavelength in his line of sight. Theoretically, this can get quite powerful, but so far, Travis has only been able to glow and not much else. This seems to be some problem with Travis, however, not the power: he continuously feels like it's there, waiting to be tapped, but that he can't quite reach it.
Immunity to Radiation/Heat based effects: Light based and heat based attacks simply do not work on Travis. They will burn through his clothes without issue, but cannot actually harm him.
Affiliation (and Position): Task Force Affiliate, currently the world's leading expert on the physics of the rifts.
Appearance: Travis towers over most: at 2 meters high and a powerful build, he's not exactly difficult to spot. His skin is a deep black color, and his irises are darker still. His rounded face can make him look a bit cherubic, an effect which increases greatly when encountering a scientific project that enamors him: his eyes widen and his deep voice takes on an excited quality as he pursues the project, hoping to solve the mysteries involved.
Attire wise, Travis usually wears a pair of slacks and a button down shirt. However, given the more violent nature of his work recently, Travis is instead running about in a pair of jeans with a sweater on top. The sweater has a middle pocket where Travis holds onto pokeballs that he believes will see use shortly. The rest of his pokeballs go into a navy colored, waterproof bag on his head. This bag also contains both a cache of notebooks for his research and a large number of items like one would expect to pack for a pokemon journey that will go on for a long while. Attempts by other people to lift the bag usually result in comical amounts of toppling over.
Personality: Travis's curiosity is well known to everyone with even a tangential relationship to the good professor. He has a highly analytical brain and a child-like singlemindedness in pursuing whatever question is picking at his brain at the moment. He is of good humor and generally cheery, and despite his bulk, he is very disarming. In fact, it is quite easy to assume that between his bookish tendencies and his cherubic curiosity, he must be naive. This is a misconception, one that is usually only cleared (rather messily) when someone who holds it attempts to cross Dr. Jackson.
For in fact, Dr. Jackson is not only very book smart, but very good at maintaining political relationships as well. He has navigated academia for years, and while he is quite kind and always willing to help others, he is also very shrewd, and capable of using his kindness to his advantage. Furthermore, he is an excellent battler, with Pokemon who are trained both to utilize their physical strengths and tactical prowess in combat.
However, Travis's own intelligence and common sense can frequently be superseded by his curiosity. In the aims of pursuing an interesting question, Travis can put himself and others at risk. This probably played a significant role in his acquisition of his abilities, as he has a habit of approaching rifts just a bit too closely for strict safety. And while Travis is aware of this flaw in his psychology, it still has a tendency to allow him to do things far stupider than his native intelligence would otherwise imply.
History: 1-2 paragraphs on how they ended up here
Pokemon Team:
Feynman the Ferrothorn (M)
Feynman is the first Pokemon Travis ever had: a six year old Travis hatched Feynman from an egg that his mother's Magnezone found shortly after his mom died. Feynman, most of the time, is superbly and incredibly lazy, frequently advising others to "take a load off." However, push Feynman sufficiently, and he will remind you that Ferrothorn are ambush predators, willing and able to use every cheating tactic in the world to get the drop on a target. This becomes exponentially worse if he's actively angry: no one on the team has spoken of those rare occasions, but it's pretty clear that they've gotten freaked out by them.
Abyssinian the Starmie (-)
Abyssinian essentially serves as a surrogate parent for the team; frequently, Travis included. They are telepathic, and even without telepathy are very good at making themselves understood. They are extremely perceptive, and are supremely competent in the realm of psychic abilities as well. Notably, they despise being confined in a pokeball, and instead are usually carried around by Travis.
Jay the Tyranitar (M)
Jay is actually the pokemon officially registered as Travis's starter for a wide variety of technical legal reasons. Jay is easily the cheeriest member of the team, reveling in the here and now without much care for the future. While he's far from stupid, his preferred approach in a situation is either transparent friendliness or cheerfully hitting you, depending on whether you are a friend or foe.
Librarian the Talonflame (F)
The team's quiet will. Librarian lives up to her name by being very knowledgable and clever: she's even able to read (and write, if she has a way to physically do it). Usually, when she's around, she's up a tree, reading a book. However, if you hear a slight "thump" noise, flee for all the good it will do you: it means she's just closed her book, put it down, and is ready to inflict copious amounts of pain.
Lily the Garchomp (F)
North the Gengar (F)

04-02-2016, 05:27 AM
Name: Sloane Jackson
Age: 18
Gender: female
Powers/Mutations: Sloane is temporarily able to sink an entire area into darkness, cancelling out all light effects including but not limited to: man made light sources, night vision goggles, and Pokemon made light sources. Not even the moon or sun can penetrate her darkness. She is not sure exactly how large her radius is, but more than about ten feet puts enormous strain on her and the longer she keeps the field up, the harder it is for her to maintain it.
Affiliation (and Position): Sloane is, for the most part, neutral. However, she does lean towards the side of the Task Force due to being in a close relationship with one of the members.
Appearance: Sloane is a 5'3 (1.6 meters) Caucasian female. She normally wears a gray or black shirt with a black hoodie and blue jeans. Her shoes are a worn pair of black sneakers that haven't been cleaned in a while so they're coated with dirt and mud. Her hair is a baked brown that sinks down to her mid calves when not pulled back. However, she usually wears it in a braid, with a black bandanna on her head, which causes it to shorten to her waist in length. She has brown eyes that are lighter in color than her hair and a scar on her left cheek in the shape of claw from a quilava attack when she was younger.
Sloane is fairly able physically. However, her left knee is her main weakness. It tends to lock and cause pain randomly, forcing Sloane to carry a silver walking stick to relieve pressure from her leg. Her knees tend to pop when she bends them but otherwise there is no other sign of her prior injury. She also wears contacts because without them she is blinder than a Zubat. However, she does keep a pair of purple glasses on her just in case her contacts get lost or something. Her back in a black messenger bag with a red silhouette of Yvetal on it.
Personality: Sloane is very optimistic. She likes to look at the glass half full and won’t stop trying until she feels she’s done her best on something. She is a tad bit lazy though. She’s never fond of climbing hills or stairs. In addition, if someone else can do it and they can do it better than she, Sloane will be very resistant to performing said job. She isn't a fan of being bossed around but knows when to take an order. Sloane's a bit easily distracted, especially around Pokemon since she loves caring for them. Sloane also loves anything dark type or shaymin themed, which is usually what Dylan's gifts to her consist of.
Sloane cares a lot when it comes to others. She values other people's lives before her own and will not hesitate to take a hit or even a death blow if it means saving someone else. Sloane also values Pokemon lives above her own, willing to do the same for a human if it meant saving a Pokemon. It's her main fatal flaw. She also cares a lot about Dylan. She likes the way he doesn't control her but also keeps her calm.
Sloane has somewhat of a short temper if you know buttons to push. If you get her angry, she'll either throw a temper tantrum like a child or go on a war path and channel her anger into her actions; this includes battling. She does, however, try to keep her temper under control and will attempt to warn people if they're successfully angering her.
Sloane also has quite a bit of fears, including heights, the sound of thunder, and (ironically) darkness. As such, she actually hates to use her powers since it cloaks her in the thing she fears most.
History: Sloane was abandoned as a baby at the doorstep of the Ecruteak City Kimono Girl Temple. From then on she was raised as a Kimono Girl trainee until she was sixteen. At sixteen, Dylan managed to bargain with the Kimono Girls to allow Sloane to try a different career path, since Sloane continually failed the tests to become a full fledged Kimono Girl. Sloane and Dylan then began to travel the world together when they could, with Dylan often having to randomly leave for work but returning shortly thereafter when he could. How Sloane ended up in the rift, however, none could have expected.
Sloane was visiting Sinnoh with her boyfriend, Dylan. They were traveling along Route 209 and had planned to set up camp for the night in hopes of encountering a Spiritomb, which were rumored to lurk in the area at night. Sloane had been especially eager to catch one since they were especially strong Pokemon. Nevertheless, while they were setting up camp that night, the world became especially distorted. Sloane waved it off as just drowsiness, but she did feel especially strange after that. Sadly, she spotted no Spiritombs that night. Dylan had to leave the next day, so Sloane decided to rest in Solaceon Town for a bit before hunting for Spiritombs again. While she was resting in an inn room a few days later, she woke up to the whole room being pitch black dark and freaked out. The darkness dissipated almost immediately, but Sloane found she could replicate it if she concentrated enough. She reported it to Dylan as soon as she could, with Dylan reporting back that he had something strange going on as well. Dylan picked Sloane up and decided it was best to bring her back to the Task Force for the time being. Hopefully they could give the two a better explanation.
Pokemon Team:
-Excalibur the Shiny Umbreon: He was a gift from the Kimono Girls that Sloane was raised by. He was her first Pokemon and, just by luck, happened to be shiny. When Sloane decided to become a dark type specialist, Excalibur evolved into an Umbreon. Excalibur is Sloane's closest Pokemon and it is rare that Excalibur is not in Sloane's party. He's also her strongest Pokemon as well. Excalibur is extremely loyal to Sloane and will protect her by any means possible.
-Caliburn the Weavile: Sloane's second Pokemon, Caliburn was obtained when she was just a Sneasel. She had been abandoned by her trainer just outside Ecruteak City after she had failed in single handedly defeating Morty's Gym. Sloane found Caliburn while training Excalibur and raced her to the Pokemon center. Nurse Joy traced Caliburn to her old trainer, but the trainer expressed his disinterest in continuing ownership of Caliburn, so Sloane took her instead. While Caliburn is not as close to Sloane as Excalibur is, the two are very close, and Caliburn is also a rare sight for the PC. Sloane evolved Caliburn on the one year anniversary of their journey together.
-Carwennan the Houndoom: Sloane caught Carwennan on her first trip to Kanto. Dylan had taken her to visit the region and, upon entering Route 7, the couple encountered a wild Houndour. Sloane caught her almost immediately and began to raise her. Carwennan is strongest in the double or triple battle areas, often working with Caliburn and Clarent to take down their opponents, but she is decent at single battles as well. She's also as much, if not more, protective of Sloane than Excalibur is, as Houndoom are naturally territorial. Carwennan is sensitive though, as people tend to be afraid of her since she's a Houndoom and that hurts her feelings.
-Rhongomynyad the Greninja: Often called Rho for short, Sloane received this Greninja as a Froakie from her boyfriend as a birthday present. Dylan had travelled to Kalos and obtained a Froakie, just to send it back to Sloane. Rho is the silent type, often avoiding any sort of encounters with others unless absolutely necessary. However, Rho does enjoy a good fight. His ability, Protean, makes him ever fiercer of a battler as Sloane has ensured his moveset is quiet diverse to cover many types. Rho is the newest member to Sloane's team.
-Llamrei the Honchkrow: Also a souvenir from Sloane's visit to Kanto, Llamrei was also caught on Route 7. She is mainly used for sky battles and flight, but overall, Llamrei is not really fond of battling. The Honchkrow prefers to let others do the work and she be used as a quick get away. As a murkrow, Llamrei was commonly attacked, resulting in scars covering her back and wings, and giving her the discomfort she faces in battles today. Her evolution was a result of Dylan giving her a dusk stone.
-Clarent the Zoroark: A birthday gift from Dylan, Clarent is the most mischievous of Sloane's Pokemon. He often likes to go off and play pranks, but his battling skills are some of the best on the team. Clarent strikes quickly and fiercely, often knocking out opponents in one hit if he can help it. His illusion ability also allows for him to appear to be one Pokemon, resulting in his weaknesses to be partially disguised, and further granting him some shelter for the time.
Other: Her boyfriend is Dylan Thomas.
Name: Dylan Thomas
Age: 20
Gender: male
Powers/Mutations: Dylan can conjure illusions for a short time, but the more realistic the illusion and the longer he has to hold it, the more strain it puts on him.
Affiliation (and Position): Task Force- field agent
Appearance: Dylan is tall, about 5'11 and the average weight for a man of his size and age. He has short brown hair, somewhat tanned skin, and is built well. He tends to wear blue, and at the time of his transformation, he was wearing blue jeans, a pink t-shirt with the words “Fairies aren’t just for Girls" on the front, and a blue jacket. He also had his favorite blue fedora with a pink stripe on it.
Personality: Dylan is a calm, cool, and collected guy that can easily reason himself out of any situation. He cares a lot about others, more so than himself, and would sacrifice himself for the sake of others. He also likes his girlfriend, Sloane, a lot and constantly worries over her since she is not in the best physical condition, resulting in many phone calls back to her, whenever he can manage them.
Dylan cares a lot about his Pokemon as well, constantly checking on their medical and psychological states. He's also very passionate about his work, because Dylan believes that the safety of the region is of the upmost importance. He even puts work before his relationship, even if it sends him all over the place. Dylan wants nothing more than to protect everyone, and his biggest fear is that one day he'll be forced to make a decision between the lives of the people he's trying to save.
History: Dylan was born and raised in the Sinnoh region. His family traveled quite a bit across the region so Dylan was given the rare opportunity to visit most of the major cities in Sinnoh. His favorite stop, however, was Celestic Town. Dylan was enamored by the stories of rare dragon Pokemon and the myths of their once strong rivals, the fairies. It was also here that Dylan met his uncle, Johto Champion Lance. After that, Dylan was regularly thrust upon Lance to visit Johto. The first time he visited the place, he hated the entire trip up until he arrived at a festival in Ecruteak city. It was there he met Sloane for the first time. The two quickly bonded and two years after that, he finally got the guts up to ask Sloane out on a date. Shortly after turning nineteen, Dylan joined the Sinnoh Task Force, a dream come true for him. Following that, Dylan made sure to take up every mission he could, even if it sent him to other regions, but also worked out time to spend with Sloane, since he was constantly worried about her and felt the most assured about her safety when he was right next to her. Then, this happened.
Dylan and Sloane were camping out on Route 209 hunting Spiritombs. Dylan was actually asleep when the rift hit and never realized the two had been affected until Dylan left. Days later, Dylan suddenly found that whenever he was hungry or thirsty, he would start to hallucinate food or drinks in front of him, except the hallucination would wear off as soon as he touched it. Dylan realized this wasn't any mere hallucination when some of his coworkers said they could see the food too, and then Sloane called in with her power. Dylan realized what had happened and went out to bring her in to the Task Force, both for her safety and for a proper explanation as to what exactly had happened.
Pokemon Team:
-Becquerel the Sylveon: It was a gift when he first started his journey. Dylan considers Becquerel his partner and the two have been close since Dylan first received the Eevee in Sinnoh from his grandfather. Becquerel evolved when the two visited Kalos for a mission and they're very close. Becquerel is also somewhat overprotective of Dylan, often growling and challenging anyone that he is unfamiliar with that approaches Dylan. But he's also extremely loyal and would never betray Dylan if he had the choice.
-Fei the Gardevoir: Dylan caught Fei when he was on a mission in Hoenn. She is quiet and tends to he very shy around others, but not without reason. Fei was abandoned as a ralts by an abusive trainer that didn't like her because she was slower at growing than the rest of his team. She's especially close to Mark, the Gallade, since they both grew up in much the same area. They're the Pokemon equivalent of best friends, and there's nothing romantically going on between them, but they're Dylan's main double battling duo.
-Mark the Gallade: Dylan caught Mark shortly after he caught Fei. While he's not part of Dylan's fairy type expertise, Dylan made an exception to catch Mark since he made Fei more comfortable. Mark is also the quiet type, but much more so than Fei. He also can appear quite intimating even though that is not his intention. Mark often communicates to Dylan through his own variation of sign language since Mark's psychic powers aren't the best. However, Mark and Fei usually communicate through telepathy, which is one of the reasons why they're such close friends.
-Marigold the Aromatisse: Marigold was a reward for Dylan after one of his missions in Kalos. She's a weak Aromatisse that barely survived an attack from a group of Weezing and Koffing. As a result, she's not the best battled and mainly focuses on healing, but even then she's not that good. Dylan has shown to be the best at coaxing her to perform well. He's helping her work through her weakness to become a great healer.
-Melody the Togekiss: Hatched from an egg that Sloane gave him for his birthday, Melody is Dylan's main form of transportation. She's very fast and an exceptionally strong battler. Melody loves to fly and battle. She's very competitive and is always ready to get into the ring if she's needed.
-William the Wigglytuff: Dylan caught William while exploring Kanto with Sloane. William is somewhat aloof and gets distracted quite easily. He really just kind of wants to laze around and eat all day, much like a Snorlax. However, on occasion, Dylan has shown to be able to coax a true warrior out of William. The Wigglytuff is Dylan's trump card since William is by far Dylan's strongest battler.
Other: His girlfriend is Sloane Jackson.

Name: Cassandra "Cassie" Lowell
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Powers/Mutations: Psychic (telekinesis, telepathy, predictions)
Affiliation (and Position): [chaotic] Neutral
Appearance: Trying to keep a low profile, she’s done everything she can to make herself unremarkable and therefore, unmemorable. The Ripple Phenomena left her eyes yellow, and she dyed her once auburn-colored hair black. The roots she keeps hidden beneath a black knitted beanie.. She wears a black hooded jacket over a purple t-shirt with stylized Koffing markings. Jeans are well-worn and torn, unintentionally following that whole ripped-jeans trend (which she personally doesn’t care for but meh).
Personality: While Cassie’s work ethic is to be admired, she isn’t particularly a people person. The long absence of her mother has left her bitter and slow to trust. In her eyes, people just aren’t reliable. They change, they leave; they only do things out of self-interest. Because of this thinking, she prefers to do everything herself. While this has evolved her independence and maturity, it often leads her overworking herself. She also tends to keep her thoughts and business to herself.
Few people are close to Cassie, one being her father. The only other family she has, she has done everything she can to help him support their little family. When he disappeared, Cassie felt like she had lost all that she ever had; she was willing to do whatever it took to go and find him—even if that involved questionable means.
History: Cassie has few memories of her mother, but the last and most distinct is her departure; having before been a trainer of some renown, Cassie’s mother felt the itch to begin traveling again. She left her daughter and husband in the bustling city of Hearthome with the promise of returning soon. Cassie was six years old, then. Now seventeen, she has not heard from nor seen her mother.
Part of her is convinced that her mother was simply a coward, fleeing from the struggles the little family would eventually face. Taking it upon herself to fix the mess her mother had left, Cassie threw herself into work as soon as she was able, laboring hard to help support her father and herself. For the last few years, she worked in a flower shop in Hearthome.
Things were going decent enough; although she got mediocre grades in school, graduation was slowly within sight. Her father even managed to get a solid journalism job. But Cassie should have known better than to hope for the best. The Galactic incident occurred, leaving Sinnoh in chaos. Seeing the news break as an opportunity, Cassie’s father left to go cover the events in Veilstone.
Only he never made it. Cassie contacted his coworkers, and all verified it. Somewhere along the way, he disappeared. Nearly driven mad with worry, Cassie went to the authorities several times to get help. With the chaos spreading quickly all over Sinnoh, however, they had their hands tied. Seeing that she wasn’t going to get absolutely no help from anyone else, Cassie took it upon herself to go out and find him herself.
Stealing a Pokémon from a daycare, she fled out into the wilderness. Rather quickly, she figured out what a ridiculous task she had before her—especially when the ripple effect set in. Suddenly, she found herself burdened with abilities she did not understand at all. She was hearing voices, seeing strange things and moving objects without touching them. Her eyes changed from their natural blue-green color to an uncanny yellow.
She was in hysterics when he found her; it was a strange series of events, but Cassie one day found herself talking to a Pokémon, a blue Medicham named Gunuru. He had no ties to any human, though he spoke cordially with her. The Pokémon could not tell her how she came to be the way she was, but he did shed some light on her predicament. Under his tutelage, she learned to control some of her abilities—enough, at least, to keep her sanity.
The Medicham encouraged her to seek proper training before going his separate way. Though she had tried to convince him to join her, he simply told her that he was needed elsewhere—that his quest for personal enlightenment continued.
Their chat, however, inspired Cassie to keep up the ruse of being a natural-born Psychic, allowing her to stay under the radar of parties interested in Ripple Phenomena victims.
Pokemon Team:
Kit the Luxray (M)—The first Pokémon that Cassie captured after setting off on her quest.
Mable the Mismagius (F)—Quirky ghost
Nitro the Crobat (M)—Cassie’s second captured Pokémon who absolutely dotes on her
Cruz the Golduck (M)—An annoying Pokémon that actually chose to follow Cassie because he was rather intrigued by her circumstances. He kept following her around and bugging her until she agreed to take him onto her team. He refuses to stay in a Poke Ball, however, and remains her chatty, sarcastic shadow. And of course, only Cassie understands him—perhaps that’s why he’s stuck around for as long as he has; he can talk her ear off and she can’t do anything about it.
Helga the Heracross (F)—It was through happy (and fortunate) circumstances that Helga came into the team. She is very matronly and fusses over everyone in the team.
Chip the Fraxure (M)—This is the Pokémon that Cassie stole from a daycare/adoption society within Hearthome. The Pokémon (then an Axew) was already up for adoption, so Cassie saw it as an opportunity to “borrow” him. She had every intention of returning it once she caught her own Pokémon legally; however, the duo had grown attached. Chip wouldn’t leave her, and she couldn’t bear to lose him. Chip stuck with the team, and is considered the “bulldog” of the group. After evolving, he became almost violently protective of Cassie. The dragon can be a handful for Cassie sometimes, but thankfully Chip is more docile than most others.
Other: Done? xD

Name: Ryker Farnsworth
Age: 24 (but looks older)
Gender: Male
Powers/Mutations: Beast Man—essentially acquired DNA from an Arcanine, giving him superhuman strength and senses with some minor fire-breathing abilities.
Affiliation (and Position): Task Force, Field Operative/Agent
Appearance: Ryker is both tall and massive, having a build that’s quite impressive for a mere 24 year-old. Since the Ripple Phenomena he has taken on several Arcanine-like qualities. His skin has taken on a slight orange tint, with black markings along his arms and face that could be mistaken for tattoos. His hair has gone blonde and is simply out of control, growing thickly not only on his head but on his chest and arms. While he tries not to keep a beard, he grows some wicked side-burns.
Another beast-like quality he gained is a pair of sharp fangs which really do not help his already iffy public image. Still, he’s thankful that he didn’t sprout a pair of ears or a tail.
Personality: Off-duty, Ryker is a pretty chill guy—laid-back and simple attitude. Folks would admit that he’s secretly a giant teddy bear. However, where the law and justice is concerned, Ryker is as serious as they come. Catch him on-duty, and you’ll agree that he’s a fierce guard-dog of the law.
He has fierce beliefs in what is right and in what is wrong, and upholds high standards in personal integrity. He follows all rules with militaristic exactness, and doesn’t hesitate to carry out what he sees as justice. Unfortunately, this can leave him short-sided, without questioning the authorities above him. In true Arcanine-fashion, he has an undying sense of loyalty to his employers, to order, and to justice.
Eager to help the people the people around him and rebuild Sinnoh, he whole-heartedly jumped into his work with the Task Force.
History: Growing up, Ryker was never sure what he wanted to do with his life. Prior to enrolling in boot camp, he was lazy and generally unmotivated. However, sometime during high school he became inspired by a local police officer to do something for his community. This led to his enrollment in boot camp and later on the police academy in Veilstone. That training changed his attitude about so many things, helping him shape up to be a responsible young man.
He hadn’t been an official officer long when the Incident occurred. Fortunately, he had been in the outskirts of Veilstone at the time—however, he was still affected by the ripple. His fellow officers report that Ryker ended up unconscious, and was carried into medical services by his loyal Arcanine companion. The symptoms of his mutation set in rather quickly, and by the time that Ryker finally woke, he was a changed man.
Ryker took it all fairly well, eventually coming to the conclusion that rather than to dwell and mope about this transformation, he might as well put it to good use. When approached by the Task Force, he whole-heartedly jumped at the opportunity to help those similarly affected by the ripple. He resigned from the Vielstone Police Department (VPD) with the hopes that someday he would be able to return, once Sinnoh returned to some semblance of “normal”.
Pokémon Team:
Buster the Arcanine(M)—Ryker’s most loyal and dedicated Pokémon, having been a gift from his father long ago. They’ve grown up together, pushing each other to do their best.
Fey the Audino (F)—Fey serves mostly as the team’s support Pokémon; you can imagine that it would be useful and smart for Police Officers to have healing Pokémon on their teams, especially in dire emergencies. Fey was issued to Ryker by the VPD, though she has since stuck with Ryker for his new adventures. Though the main healer, she is willing and able to fight, however, should push come to shove.
Juliet the Roserade (F)—Juliet specializes in powder-attacks, typically used to take down difficult opponents or quiet down rampaging Pokémon/crowds. However, she packs quite a punch besides all that, and is the team’s swift silent assassin.
Rex the Feraligatr (M)—One of the team’s strong-arms that’s also useful for fire-emergencies. Don’t mess with Rex.
Bard the Aerodactyl (M)—Ryker was once awarded an Old Amber as a thank-you; through some connections, he was able to revive the ancient Pokémon, who serves as a flying-mount when Ryker needs to get somewhere quick.
Lucky the Pangoro (M)—Another of the team’s strong-arms. Don’t also mess with Lucky.

I'm going to be honest, if Velocity didn't make a Hamilton based character, I would be some kind of disappointed.
Name: Felix Iba
Age: 18
Gender: Female
Powers/Mutations: Matter Destabilization: Felix can destabilize matter on all non-living objects, and herself. She can weaken strong metal or structures, destabilize herself and another object or part of a mass to move through it, or rapidly destabilize her own body and restabilize it in another place as a form of teleportation. She needs to be touching anything she destabilizes, with the exception of self destabilization. As long as she had made contact with it, she can keep anything around her size permanently destabilized

Appearance: 1-2 paragraphs on how your character looks

This looks interesting, give me a while to fill out the form and I'm in XD
Form: (WIP)
Name: Anthony Joy
Age: 19
Gender: Male.
Powers/Mutations: He has the ability to manipulate and absorb fire, but only the palm of his hands can physically touch it and not burn, but only when absorbing the fire, and he is normally, but not always, incapable of creating it in unnatural ways.
Affiliation (and Position): Task Force. Investigator/Firefighter.
Appearance: Tony has never stood out in a crowd, standing at 5'7" and being ever so slightly overweight (but not very noticeably). His skin has a slight tan to it. He has thin glasses that he never takes off and wears a plain t-shirt and blue jeans at almost all times. Since he started specializing in dragons, he has accumulated many scars from training with them as his training method is sparring directly with his whole party by himself at once in a 6 v 1 battle.
Personality: Tony is a bit of an odd and awkward person. He is kind and caring, but has a small bit of an anger issue with some training in karate. His mutation doesn't help with this as any anger flare will cause him to unleash fire from the palms of his hands, but he does try his best to keep his temper under control. He also has a bit of a fear of most arachnid pokemon.
History: Tony was raised in Hoenn by his parents, a Gym Leader and a Nurse Joy. At age 10 he went on his pokemon journey, earning badges for the first five years from every region, but avoiding battling any of the elite fours unless necessary. He also only ever keeps one pokemon with him on a new journey and typically catches enough to refill his party. After those five years, he worked to became a member of Hoenn's top police unit, meeting Sloane and Dylan as he did, as well as went on a journey to prove he was the right material to be a Dragon -Type Gym Leader He achieved both goals, working alongside Looker on many occasions as well as standing in for his father as Gym Leader when necessary. He was sent to Sinnoh with his six strongest pokemon due to rumors of Team Galactic reaching Hoenn. By the time he got there, everything had already unfolded, and Mt. Coronet was already half gone. He caught wind of a new rift and went to study it for himself while it was new. Unfortunately for him, a second rift opened up right next to the first and led to him gaining his powers and joining the task force.
Pokemon Team: Zuko (male Blaziken), Draco (male Dragonite), Char (male Charizard), Sherpa (female Garchomp), Terina (female Altaria), Sahara (female Flygon)

Last character I promise but I need some practice writing villains and I figure we needed some antagonistic PCs anyway. XD
Name: Jeanne Hemlock.
Age: 28.
Gender: Female.
Powers/Mutations: Aura sight and manipulation. The former is effortless; the latter requires lots of focus and energy for anything more than bright sparks.
Affiliation (and Position): Team Galactic (Sub-Commander officer)
Appearance: Jeanne’s appearance is fairly average, though she is a bit bulkier than most - 5’9” with a medium build and good muscle tone. Her blond hair is neat and shoulder-length; usually, she keeps it back in a bun. Her skin is slightly tanned from work outdoors, and her eyes are bright green. She has a tattoo of Arceus’s crest on her right wrist in black ink. Most of the time, she wears the standard Team Galactic female uniform, although she does have a few sets of plain clothes to wear when off-duty or going undercover.
Personality: Those who meet Jeanne outside of battle might never suspect that she is part of Team Galactic at all. She is guided primarily by her convictions and her sense of loyalty, and while she has zero faith in the world overall, she will do almost anything for those she actually respects. Despite her natural cool, unaffected air, she is a very passionate and empathetic person. Most of the time, she's rather serious, though she does have a somewhat snarky sense of humor. If she sees something that she disapproves of, she will not hesitate to speak up - an attitude that has served her well as an officer leading grunts. In battle, she is levelheaded, cold, and ruthlessly pragmatic, although she tends to try and avoid killing unless it’s necessary, and she’s been known to go out of her way to try and recruit others to Team Galactic’s “righteous” cause.
History: Jeanne was born in the poorer part of Veilstone. She doesn’t remember much of her father; he worked long hours most of the time, and died of a sudden heart attack when Jeanne was five. The incident drove her mother to drink; Felicia Hemlock went from being a good parent, if slightly disorganized, to an emotionally distant and completely apathetic presence. Jeanne dealt with frequent unpredictable outbursts at home and bullies at school, who saw her sensitive and withdrawn nature as an invitation to attack. The only close friends Jeanne had were Fey the Mienfoo and Allie the Beldum, a pair of abandoned strays who she’d found and caught when she was twelve. For a little while, Jeanne felt like things were getting better. Then a gang of bullies ambushed her on her walk home and turned a Luxio on her, attempting to steal her pair of rare Pokemon. However, Jeanne had Fey and Allie fight back. Fey was knocked out in one hit, but Allie’s reckless Take Down hit the Luxio in the head by mistake. The injury was untreatable, and the Luxio died.
From then on, Jeanne’s life became much worse. Jeanne was personally cleared of charges in the Luxio’s death, and Fey’s injuries were enough for Jeanne to plead self-defense, but because Allie was the one who struck the last blow, she was taken away for rehabilitation - Jeanne never saw her again. The bullying also seemed to redouble; people called Jeanne “murderer” in the halls and avoided her like the plague. Furthermore, her mother started getting angrier, furious about the effects of the Luxio’s death and the ensuing lawsuit. The instant Jeanne turned eighteen, she struck out on her own, leaving her school, her mother, and everything but Fey behind.
The next several years saw Jeanne struggling to keep her head above water. She was able to make enough money to survive through Pokemon training; she had strong Pokemon and a knack for battling, but the fights in Veilstone were often sub-legal and didn’t quite any to League codes. Although Jeanne hated the dirty fighters and was careful to avoid another killing, she quickly learned an array of illicit tricks and tactics, and the constant battles toughened both her and her team. While Jeanne wasn’t battling or looking after her team, she was volunteering, joining activist groups fighting for several causes, including stricter regulations on battling and further scrutiny on Trainers as opposed to their Pokemon. She heard about Team Galactic through mutual friends while the organization was still fairly fresh. Disillusioned as she was with her lot in life, she was eager for the fruition of their promises of a new world, and progressed through their ranks quickly. She was also caught in one of the first Ripples - at first, she thought that her vision had been permanently distorted, but through intuition and some guidance from Fey, she learned that she had been granted aura vision. Further experimentation taught her how to turn the sight on and off and even call forth aura energy, though the latter power was a lot more difficult and finicky. Like many Sinnohians, she’s a bit superstitious about aura - as a result, she sees her new gifts as a blessing, possibly even a sign that she’s on the right path.
Pokemon Team:
Fey/Mienshao/F. Fey is a quiet and stoic creature. One of Jeanne’s first Pokemon, she is completely loyal to her Trainer and does her best to be a source of comfort. She tends to be Jeanne’s go-to Pokemon in battle, having the most experience out of all of the team. She also has a gentle streak, though she doesn’t let that stop her from doing what needs to be done.
Helena/Houndoom/F. Caught near Veilstone after Jeanne left home, Helena was a hellion at first. However, Jeanne could and would not tolerate unruly behavior, and as a result Helena rapidly developed a sense of discipline. The Houndoom is aloof and rude with a rather bad temper, but she obeys Jeanne without question.
Tara/Staraptor/F. Tara was caught as a Starly not long after Helena was caught. Jeanne trained her up tirelessly, making sure that Tara was tough enough to hold her own in the ring so that Fey and Helena would have some slack. Tara is a very persistent and perfectionistic Pokemon, and will not tolerate any insults to her, her team, or her Trainer.
Rebecca “Beck”/Raichu/F. Jeanne “recovered” Beck from a Trainer on one of her first missions as a Galactic grunt. At first, Beck was displeased about the change in ownership. However, when Beck saw how strong Jeanne’s team was, she quickly changed her tune - Beck is a firm believer in “might makes right” and is more than happy to play along with anyone who can help her reach her full potential.
Micah/Gengar/F. Quite simply, Micah seems to believe she is the incarnation of chaos. Quick-witted and always staying one step ahead, delights in confounding her opponents, outsmarting and outpacing them before finishing them off. Despite her cruelty on the battlefield, she’s a pretty flexible and agreeable Pokemon, and doesn’t mind cooperation or taking orders so long as she doesn’t feel completely confined.
Perseus/Greninja/M. Obtained as a Froakie through a long chain of trading with other grunts, Perseus is generally a mild-tempered Pokemon. While he’s proud of his power, he tends not to get involved in his teammates’ antics, falling into more of a mediative role. On the battlefield, he fights with brutal, ruthless simplicity, and he rarely plays fair.

AWA1997 -For the most part, Anthony's SU looks alright, though I'm a little confused as to how he can withstand going 6v1 with a team like that. That in itself kind of seems like a superpower. XD Good point, Jan.
The accomplishments is a matter of someone on youtube doing the math and saying Ash would've been 16 somewhere in Unova because he technically turned 11 during Johto and a few other factors, so I thought 19 was reasonable to hit all six.
The 6v1 is more a matter of him never having used his six strongest at once and all of his pokemon knowing his limits from training with him since they were little. I could make it so that 6v1 with this team overwhelms him and he has to cut back a bit (like, maybe 3v1?) because of this, though, if that helps.

The anime has actually made a turn around this region. Unova was just a huge low point. Kalos has taken all the best features of previous regions. The original theme song was actually a parody of the first ever Pokemon theme too. It has three companions, plus a sibling duo. A common trope for the side male that isn't annoying (since even though his inventions tend to blow up, they don't always do, which is nice). They brought back the whole one of the companions is a gym leader thing. Ash actually knows stuff about Pokemon like he did in Sinnoh. They reference past series as well, which is nice. We had a short Caterpie equivalent arc. They also don't always focus on ash for episodes too. So it's improved in many ways.

AWA1997 it's not the adventuring in all regions that confused me. It was the top police unit training at fifteen and then becoming a gym leader eventually.
That makes slightly more sense.
Noblejanobii There is a whole host of things about it that just rub me the wrong way. I guess when you turn a somewhat strategy based game into an anime, one should expect some things not to come into play, but...yeah. It irks me. Ash and Pikachu irk me. The pure lack of common sense in...a lot of cases irks me. Maybe it's because I think Unova was the last in the series my younger siblings watched or what have you, but it drives me nuts, and I just... No thank you. No.
Then again, I also keep finding myself wondering who in the heck thought that ten years old was a good age to let kids go out into the wild with essentially superpowered animals and journey on their own was a good idea.
Noblejanobii

Like I said, Unova was a HUGE low point in the series. I could barely tolerate it, but they've redeemed themselves greatly with Kalos. I was very proud that they didn't make the whole "a level 100 pikachu can't be a level 5 Snivy" mistake again. Even if you don't go back to watching it, I'll let you know it's improved in many ways.
I think ten because of the whole children demographic but I think the most concerning thing to me is Misty is a gym leader, but she's ten. If they can't start their adventure until they're ten, then how is she already a gym leader?
AWA1997
04-15-2016, 12:30 AM
Oh. That's just when he started working towards it. Sorry for the phrasing. He only met the requirements for those within the last year or so.
Yeah, the most he's had out of that group at one time is two, with Zuko and Draco being the most common of the six.

Even if they have fixed some of the issues that were present in Unova, it can't right the fact that Ash and Pikachu are still around, and I've pretty much come to hate them. I also don't really watch much of anything anymore. I read or I'm on the internet if not working on art/writing/classwork. Or gaming. I do a lot of that, too.
Isn't running the gym a joint effort between her and her sisters in the anime? That aside, she's ten? And she dresses like that? I wanna say Brock took over the gym from his dad... But Misty wasn't only younger gym leader....who the heck decides these things??? i have a thirteen year old brother and fifteen year old sister, and there are times when I don't even trust leaving them alone together at home. I sure as heck wouldn't have let them out of the house at ten to go on their own journey.
...And this is why I don't like the anime. Pretty sure no one ever states ages in the games.
AWA1997 But he's also a gym leader...? Or did he meet the qualifications or...?
Noblejanobii

Heck, I quit early on in even the Hoenn days. I understand every character needs to have faults, but Ash... bleh.
But yeah, anime logic is a pretty bad thing to go by. Next to nothing makes sense in the Pokemon anime.

I can get rid of that part if you'd like, but he's qualified to be a gym leader in Hoenn, he just doesn't have a gym and they don't need a new gym leader for the moment, so he's technically more of a substitute gym leader.
(This one I thought may be fine because most gym leaders have two jobs.)

Name: Cassandra "Cassie" Lowell
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Powers/Mutations: Psychic (telekinesis, telepathy [can understand Pokemon through this], predictions)
Other:
Allllrighty, Cassie is done. Pumped up her party just a little because everyone has some high tier Pokemon apparently :o Also forgot to mention, Gunuru was more or less a reference to an old story I wrote that no one probably remembers xD I put him in there for fun :P Speaking of fun, I'm getting excited about this other character I'm creating now xD I have a rough sketch there, buuuuut I'm not sure if I'll be able to finish him for a while. I'm going on a vacation down to my sister's and might not be around till Thursday.
EDIT: NEVERMIND I finished Ryker xDDDD I was on a roll with this guy--looking forward to playing with him, if he passes :D

Neo Emolga It's still going, we just have certain people who haven't finished their SUs yet, and I've been too bogged down with homework and work to get around to posting anything, with or without them. Intended to bug the still unfinished parties and post soon...just haven't really had a moment.

Okay, just making sure, it's been pretty quiet for the past few weeks.
All the best with your school and work stuff.

Neo Emolga Yeah, I've been trying to get certain parties to finish up SUs, but that aside, I just haven't had the energy to get much done...as it is, I've been having trouble completing homework because of a lack of cowrkers, but hopefully that'll be less of an issue soon, htne I can yell at people, edit in the rest of my own SUs, and then work on a first post.

Alright, let me try and help with this, because this has been taking a really long time to get going. Roll call time.

Just checking, are you still in this? Your SU(s) is/are still as a WIP, and Winter needs to know if/when you plan on completing it.
If you're still in it, please give the rest of us an date as to when we can expect it to be done. Thanks!

Okay, normally I wouldn't do this, but it's been almost two months. That's... a really long time to keep people waiting. You said you were busy with other stuff, and that's totally understandable, that's why I decided to do this. I'm like on every day and visit multiple times so I could keep on top of this thing.
Frankly, this is a GREAT RP. The storyline is fantastic and I'm itching for it to get started, but we're waiting on only two people and they really haven't been saying anything about how things are going with their SUs, so I'm wondering if they've forgotten. If they've dropped out of it but never said anything, we wouldn't know unless we started a roll call. You said you planned on bugging them soon anyway, so I figured it wouldn't hurt if I just jumped ahead and did it.
Please, let's try to get the ball rolling on this one. I don't mean to be intrusive, I'm just trying to be helpful and proactive.

You think I don't know that's a long time? Trust me, I am well aware, and I'm just a tad frustrated things haven't gone as planned, however those unfinished SUs aren't the only thing holding RP start back. I have been struggling with work and homework, and a lack of motivation to do much writing when I even have free time because of that.
My stating that I am busy, however, is not unspoken permission for you to hop on and start pinging people and trying to push things to get moving in my stead, especially considering you did not speak to me about doing so, nor did you have my permission. It's not as though I never log onto PXR, Skype, or more recently, Discord. You have plenty of ways to contact me to ask about the status of things, and you didn't do any of that. Instead, you decided to take matters into your own hands, which I find pretty rude when the previous is taken into consideration. I understand your enthusiasm for the RP, but I had already been speaking to the parties with unfinished SUs, and have been trying to find time and motivation to work on a first post, which you would have learned if you had taken a moment to ask me rather than assume, and post in my stead.
I will continue to speak with those with WIP sign ups and attempt to get a first post going, but I'm kind of busy drowning in the flood of homework and job stress as well. I have three more weeks left in this school term. If it goes up before then, then it goes up before then, otherwise expect it after I am free from class. If you have any more inquiries to the status of the RP, please ask me.

Alright, I apologize, I didn't mean to make you upset and I definitely didn't mean to be rude. I guess we just have our own way of doing things.
I think it's probably best I withdraw my sign up and drop out of this one. In light of this and some of the more recent conflicts, I think we just need our own space and I don't want the tension between you and I to get worse.
Good luck with the RP and sorry to have been a bother...
