Comrades, my fellow electric rodents, the time has come and Emergence Day has arrived! Together, we have become a powerful united force that has left even the humans gawking in disbelief!

For too long, the evil ground types have harassed us with their unholy Earthquakes, blasphemous Dig attacks, and sacrilegious Magnitudes. These insolent deeds of pure wickedness will be tolerated no longer! For too long, our finest Thunderbolts, Shock Waves, and Discharge attacks, formed with true willpower and divine courage, have met their mark against these hordes of dirty, filthy, and evil ground types with pristine perfection, only to be reduced to nothing. As long as our ancestors can remember, these demonic ground types have laughed at our efforts, underestimated us because of our sizes, and have mocked and taunted us for being cute. Meanwhile, those so-called "competitive" human trainers have put far too many of our hopeful and aspiring brethren aside for bigger, more fully evolved Pokémon simply because they don't acknowledge our true power.

ALL THAT WILL CHANGE WILL OUR FORMATION OF THE ELECTRIC RODENT REGIME!

Unknown and hidden from the evil, prying eyes of filthy ground types and even the unsuspecting humans, we have secured military weapons from the humans, reverse-engineered them, and formed our own battalion of steel, thunder, and glory! After years of meticulous planning, strategic implementation, and tactical deployment, our newly-created tanks of armored fury, juggernaut battleships, and impressive attack jets will unleash a new and promising dawn for the Electric Motherland!

And now, the Electric Rodent Regime needs CHU for the fight! United together, we will never fall to such dirty and earthly travesties ever again!

Originally, I started with the higher up mods and then worked my way down by doing the most active people on the forum, and then the people who had posted recently (so if you posted a few times in March, you were getting swapped!). I knew I couldn't get everyone (I tried though!), hence the reason for those "default" banners in the initial post, so if anyone didn't get a set but wanted to get in on the fun, they could easily do it.

Some people, I picked intentionally. Like Gemma and Chakra absolutely had to be two Pikachus. I also went back and made Caite-Chan an Emolga because we got paired recently. Phantasm.Angel also made a comment about liking Pachirisu, so I did that for him also. Everyone else was kind of randomized, including yours! I didn't even know you liked Plusle, but it was a great coincidence!

I started planning and the creation of the avatars and banners way back when the Valentine's Day event thing ended. I saw everyone was having quite a bit of fun with that event and it gave me the urge and inspiration to do something BIG for April Fools', something that I felt would surprise most people. Overall, it did take quite a few hours of work to make so many banners and avatars, but I was having a blast with it.

Okay, so everyone knows I'm a electric rodent enthusiast and a junkie for first person shooters, war games, and action movie fluff. I thought... ha, wouldn't it be funny to mash the two together and have a electric rodent army going? I also got some inspiration from what Newgrounds did one year with a China-themed reskin with a similar kind of thing going on (propaganda, censorship, and that kind of stuff). So, I played with the idea and started making a banner and avatar set that did just that and make it look like a Russian propaganda poster. It looked hilarious! It was fun to depict a cute, lil' electric rodent cheering on or fighting alongside big gigantic tanks or attack jets. So, after making another and another, I felt this idea would be both original, surprising, and fun to play along with. Oh, I was sure most people would immediately know who was behind it, but I'm sure they weren't expecting it to go this big.

A lot of the backgrounds used in the banners are from World of Tanks, Battlefield 4, World of Warships, Ace Combat, and a few others. The Soviet-style fonts can also be found on dafont.com, but the ones I used were mostly Agit Prop, Kremlin, Motherland, Back in the USSR, Ruskof, Ranyeski, Russian, Soviet, Minirus, Red October, Snowstorm, and KraftUnStil.

Working in the forum skin (which will stay by the way) was a little bit pesky in the beginning with long upload times, missing graphics, and a few other hiccups, but Sarah and I eventually got it to work (and cheered when we finally got it). She also helped with giving me the necessary details to change the banner on the main PXR website, and also implemented it when it was done. I couldn't have done a lot of the stuff without her, and though there were a few moments that we almost went crazy, everything came out well in the end.

Overall, I'm really glad everything went smoothly when it was showtime, a lot of people had fun and played along with it for many great laughs, and I'm thankful for all the support and help I had along the way. Stay awesome, you guys!

As for what to do next year to top all this off... I have no idea, but I'm sure we'll think of something great.

History major that I am, I'm trying to picture the other WWII counterparts to the Electric Rodent Regime. I'm guessing that the Ground-types represent the more conservative elements of Tsarist Russia, the monarchists, the Kulaks, and capitalists in general. Then I would say that Germany would be the proud Dragon type country, recently humiliated (by Fairy-types) and desperate to reclaim its former glory. Italy would be flying because it's not a very impressive type in general, and is only remarkable when paired with others. Plus that gives us a Dragon/Flying alliance against the Soviet Chunion, resulting in a fairly neutral match-up, as it was in history, more or less. Then I would say Imperial Japan is a Water-type empire, explaining its decision to pursue a Southern strategy against Dutch, British, French, and American possessions rather than risk conflict with an Electric USSR.

The only thing I that I would have liked to add is some interactive component, like how the Easter event had the egg hunt, the crossword puzzle, and the find the differences game. People really enjoyed those and something like that could have been added to this, but by the time I thought of it, it was already too close to showtime to quickly make something up.

Commander! I have dire news!

I regret to inform you that a new infection is spreading across the lands! It seems to be doing something... sinister to our fellow comrades!

Comrade Emolga has detailed some of his observations in his log:


Neo's Log: Entry #1 - 4/28/2016

Nothing happened the way it was supposed to happen. I'm not sure where the infection started, whether Fate was the original carrier, or whether Xanthe could be considered Patient Zero. All I know now is this.

It may have already spread beyond our control. One by one, they are all being assimilated by what has been called the Ditto Infection.

The symptoms are appalling. Faces, wiped away, replaced by a mere minimalistic rendition of their former selves. Where there were once eyes, holes are now there instead. Empty, unsettling holes, one after another. They gaze as if they stare into souls, in no discernible direction, or all of them at once. I don't even know for sure how they now work now, but somehow they can still see and the victims are still self-aware, although nothing seems the same now. The most disturbing symptom is the victims, the infected, don't believe that there is anything wrong. They don't even realize they have been assimilated and are now all Dittos themselves. Pokémon, human, even completely different species are not spared by this rapidly-escalating pandemic.

In my time, I have never seen any pandemic like this before, and it has me worried if the true victims are simply prisoners in their own mind as they watch their internal Dittos commandeer their bodies acting as their host, or if their true selves are gone permanently, now joining the ever-growing hordes of assimilator pink blob-like organisms that have been attempting to seize control of our world as infiltrator units attacking us from within.

The victims have been succumbing to this assimilation in droves and in ways I never dreamed possible. At once, early on, even I myself came face to face with the infection, but thankfully, I discovered I am immune. Call it luck, but this contagion was not able to produce a Ditto embryo inside me like it did with all the others.

There are still survivors out there. Sarah, Noble, and myself are just a few that were exposed to the pandemic, but we were able to resist the assimilation. But in the meantime, I have seen friends and colleagues succumb to this infection. And one by one, it has been rapidly spreading to others.

We, the survivors, are working to find a cure and develop an immunity. And though we don't know when, we will find it. But in the meantime, I find myself sleeping less. The blank, minimalistic faces keep appearing in my darkest nightmares, but upon awaking, I have driven to find the answer and the solution. We are in a race against time, but we will take back our world.

If you're reading this, be vigilant. Be aware. They are watching, but we will survive like we always have.
