I blame unemployment. :x

I've been trying though. Between posting PSG challenges, I send out job applications, and I've sent out 22 applications this week alone. And I do the full package. Resume, cover letter, and if they request it, a link to my graphic design portfolio. No bites, except for the scammy door to door sales stuff where you only earn income on commission and someone else reaps in most of the money from the sale. That's just garbage, I'd rather start my own business and/or bust my butt doing art commissions.

This job market feels like going fishing in a septic tank. Even when something does bite, chances are it's going to bad, but you end up having to consider taking it anyway or continue to be stuck with nothing.

I feel you. My brother went through that trouble for a bit. What are you looking to do?

Marketing, graphic design, or as a possible fallback, something in IT/database management (although these days, that hasn't been as reliable and now a lot of places expect you to be knocking with a truckload of certifications). The only kinds of jobs I've been able to secure so far are contract-based, which means a staffing agency takes a large chunk out of your pay, you get no benefits, and they can pull the plug on your employment at ANY time (which has happened to me on several occasions, as a manager can lay you off if they don't like the way you combed your hair that morning). I really don't like these types of jobs and I think with an MBA, I really deserve something better, but it just hasn't been showing up.

A lot of company job sites only have listings for director and manager positions. I've been trying to apply to the associate manager/director positions even though it is a bit out of my league, but no luck there yet either. I've also been applying to stuff all over NJ, NY, and PA, and now I'm beginning to think I might even need to go beyond that and be very open to relocation.

If you're going to relocate, come out to California. It's lovely here.

I've actually been looking at the rent prices for apartments in places like Fort Worth, TX, Phoenix, NV, and a few others scattered around the country. SO MUCH CHEAPER THAN HERE, and they're better quality also. An apartment that costs $1300 monthly around here had me worried my car was going to get stolen if I stepped out of it. And there are so many bad neighborhoods in NJ (looking at you, Newark, Irvington, Orange, and especially Camden!).

I've never been to California, so I can't really say yes or no, but I do know a lot more of the creative/entertainment fields are over there.

The areas with the most jobs in the creative/entertainment fields tend to be very expensive in California. Here in Sacramento, prices are fairly reasonable, but it's more government-oriented.

Although, a lot of people commute into the Bay Area from outlying areas which are less pricey. You'd probably be looking at similar prices/crime rates, in the cheap Bay Area-accessible places.

That's a big change in scenery, going to the Mid-West. Those are relatively conservative places, with a more desert-like climate. I don't have much first-hand knowledge, except my Californian friends who've moved out to those areas got culture shock.

I had this funny feeling...

I have a few shorts, but as a rather tall guy, they don't cover my knees like they should, and I hate that feeling when your bare skin touches leather, and then as you try to separate them from each other, it feels like peeling duct tape off of your skin.

I do like being able to wear sandals though.

Same here I love the cool weather way more. The heat is just draining, but the humidity WAY worse here. It's like a huge weight on your chest. If you aren't used to it, it will make it a bit harder to breathe for a while. If experienced it myself after being out west with little humidity. Even if it was only 2 weeks away it was long enough to get used to little to no humidity then full on experience it again.

The Nonexistent Tazz
04-19-2016, 05:12 PM
I hate Humidity with a passion-whenever it gets so hot and so humid like that it's the worst. Cool humidity is OK, mind, but when it's hot it's horrific.

Then again, not enough humidity and life sucks too, so I guess all is balanced, if unfair.

Neo Emolga
04-19-2016, 05:23 PM
I can tolerate dry heat a lot better than humidity. But humidity can make everything feel like a flippin' jungle and it makes it feel like unless you go outside naked, you'll feel like anything you wear is too hot.

I opened my window last night to let in some cool air... only to be WOKEN UP AT 6:00 BY LANDSCAPER WEEDWHACKERS AND LAWNMOWERS GALORE! Bluragh, that sure wasn't fun.

Neo Emolga

I saw the first Sharknado movie just out of a whim desire to see how cheesy it was. Very cheesy, but that was enough for me.

My friend Tommy and I watch bad horror movies from time to time. "Let's split up so whatever is hunting us has an easier time finishing us off one by one!" It's like in some horror movies, everyone's IQ drops by 80 points.

The Nonexistent Tazz
04-21-2016, 04:15 AM
I don't watch them anyways. Horror is just not for me.

And don't even get me started on FNaF.

Neo Emolga
04-21-2016, 04:30 AM
I keep hearing about FNaF, but I've never played it. I've looked at it from the Steam page and honestly, those kinds of jump scares would just get me rolling my eyes after a while. Trust me, I've seen much worse than a robotic duck/wolf/bear/rabbit attack me. If you really want to play a game that's severely f-ed up, try Shadowman 64 for the N64. I found that game to be more disturbing than Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

Heck, this was just the TV advertisement for it!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gmAgdkQ0T_s

It was still a great game, but the scenery, enemies, challenges, and the soundtrack were definitely NOT kiddie material. So yeah, FNaF would just be silly to someone who has gone through a game like that.

The Nonexistent Tazz
04-21-2016, 06:07 AM
Problem: I'm extremely vulnerable to jumpscares. EXTREMELY. And while I have watched earlier playthroughs of Alien Isolation without losing my mind (Isolation is a scary game to itself), I cannot tolerate jumpscares on that level.

Second Problem: The Jumpscares are one thing, but FNaF's plot itself is another. Short: Nobody wins! Oh, and the main villain aren't those aufully murderous animatronics-it's about a child murderer! Who works in a children's pizzeria! The dead kid's souls are haunting the suits and from the sounds of things it's not terribly fun for them! Oh, and they think you did it because you look like the murderer (or in one game, possibly are)! Enjoyable! And that is what is almost definitely explained. And that's ignoring the hallucinatory sequences and the entirety of 4. 4 is not only scary, but also depressing in a horrible, horrible way.

ON the other hand, this did birth one of the funniest fangames I have ever laid eyes to.

Neo Emolga
04-21-2016, 03:20 PM
Jumpscares might catch me off guard the first time. Second time, please, it just feels cheesy, and I might even laugh at it the next time around.

I also realized where Silent Hill gets its fear factor from. The guy you're playing is weak, can barely kill anything, and the camera angle is constantly forcing you to only see what's five feet ahead of you. So yes, of course things are going to pop out at you when you're unprepared, and because they barely give any ammo and enemies are constantly respawning, it forces you to have to run past them like a sissy trying to find the bathroom. Games today have characters that are more realistic and are physically capable of fighting their way out of things.

Sir Sivelos
04-21-2016, 03:41 PM
ON the other hand, this did birth one of the funniest fangames I have ever laid eyes to.

While I enjoy this fan game series with endless enthusiasm, we probably shouldn't discuss it. You know how the higher ups are with swearing. :P

Also, the scariest part of FNAF isn't the jumpscares, it's the anticipation for it. To quote SomeCallMeJohnny, "you are your own worst enemy." You don't want to get jumpscared, so you put up your guard, and unintentionally lower it at the same time, making the jumpscares more effective (at least, depending on the person). Heck, FNAF4 even forces you to put yourself on the edge in order to survive.

Neo Emolga
04-21-2016, 04:15 PM
Hmm, I'm not really a fan of games that do that. XCOM2 already does that where it's a constant balancing act between rushing in to accomplish tactical objectives before time runs out, but not so much so that you plunge too quickly into enemy territory and get blasted to bits because of it. I usually play games on "normal" or "medium" difficulty, but with that one, I had to clock that back to the easiest difficulty setting because I was just getting my butt blown up and wasn't even enjoying the game anymore.

I'd rather have a game be too easy than be too hard. If a game is too easy, heck, I can even restrict myself to using only certain weapons/abilities to impose my own kind of challenge. But if struggling for hours and trying my ultimate best still results in getting losses over stuff I have no control over, it makes me wonder if there's any point to playing.

Sir Sivelos
04-21-2016, 04:19 PM
Eh… Yeah, I agree with you there. Challenges are fun, but to me, the most important aspect of a game is whether or not it's fun. If I don't find it fun, I probably won't enjoy it. :\

The Nonexistent Tazz

As much as I like beer, I can't have more than three, or I start going a little Cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs. The one time I had too much, I couldn't even lie down because it felt like the room was spinning and the ride wasn't ending when it should have.

I have no clue how people could possibly even think about driving like that. That was not a fun experience and take it from me, beer can be good in moderation, but don't be reckless with it.

I don't even drink. Then again, I basically get drunk off of soda and barely need it to detach myself from reality, so really that's probably for the best that I don't EVER drink.

Yeah, I don't blame you. I didn't even try beer until much later. I didn't actually have any on my 21st birthday, because to me, it really wasn't all that important, and honestly, it still isn't. I just have the occasional beer and that's fine for me.

I honestly don't have the taste for it. So my friend got me to try again one night. I could barely drink a few extremely small sips of Long Island iced tea (with the full acoholic ingredients). After 3 sips I felt terribly sick all night. The ride home was one of the worst feelings too. SO note: I can't handle nor do I have the taste for it. xD

Uhh....well for years I've been looking into a trip to Japan. With my best friend in the Navy over there right now he rented out a house there. So I have a place I could crash there for now. Recently though I may or may not have been thinking of making a trip to Australia though promptly after Japan. Thing is the cost....ugh...why must flights be so costly

The Nonexistent Tazz
04-28-2016, 06:16 PM
It's those abilities that make Silver Wind one of the best abilities in the entire game. You cannot be immunized from it; you cannot have an ability to screw it over; and when you use it, you get stat buffs, including Speed (oh glorious speed) if you're lucky, which is considerably more often than in the games. To say nothing of PP up/Ginseng items.

AS for starters: Treeko. There's a reason Grovyle is a thing, it's subtly hinting at you picking its pre-evolved form to have a fun time, because Bullet Seed (which doesn't require skill link to run) + STAB + Concentrator + Gap Prober = Everything dying. And then there's Agility, and then there's no abilities that can nullify the damage.

It's beautiful to behold a Bullet Seed Multi-kill.

And let us speak not of Smeargle in these games.

04-28-2016, 08:39 PM

Only in Mystery Dungeon because basically it's stats are basically the same as everyone else's stats. However, in the main games, it's far too weak for any real attack to work.

Sir Sivelos
04-29-2016, 01:13 AM
Ever used Chespin in PSMD? That little guy carried my team, I tells ya.

Chain moves are absurdly broken due to each hit having the same damage formula as regular moves, so you got LODESADAMAGE.

And Chespin, little spike ball he is, starts with a few of them.

The Nonexistent Tazz

Sir Sivelos
04-29-2016, 01:19 AM
Eh… The 3D models look okay from a distance, but looking at them up close in certain shots, they're kind of low-poly and angular.

And yeah, the sprites' animations added a bit of charm that the 3D models lack.

Neo Emolga
04-29-2016, 01:28 AM

Sir Sivelos
04-29-2016, 12:47 PM
Pfff. The Darkrai fight is easy. Here's my A+ Strategy:

1) Bring a Stun Seed. To be perfectly safe, bring a few of them.

2) Throw Stun Seeds at Darkrai until he's stunned. He won't be able to do ANYTHING unless he's hit by a move of any kind.

3) Leave Darkrai by himself, and pick off the minions one by one. I normally start by going from left to right.

4) After killing all of Darkrai's mooks, get your team to surround him. Buff yourself, maybe, it's up to you.

5) TEAR HIM APART. He should go down pretty easily now that he's by himself. Just be careful here though, he can spam Double Team at any point, and the battle becomes Nintendo Hard at that point.

Also, pack some Reviver Seeds and healing items, obviously. Even by himself, Darkrai is a big threat. Ominous Wind can tear up Cresselia pretty easily, and can also give him a powerful buff.

Speaking of Cresselia, make sure she sticks near you at all times. Try and be in a tile directly adjacent to her so you can take hits for her so she doesn't waste Reviver Seeds.

Follow this pro-strategy and you should do fine.

Winning in this post is futile since people can necro this post whenever.
Speaking of which, who holds the record for longest time?

That reminds me. I thought of something for the whole Ditto vs ERR thing. Give it some time since Commander Raichu has disappeared though cause I dunno if you have something planned with that or not Neo Emolga

Lol, since the ERR has fallen, I'm now on the run as a Vigilante.

It appears there are very few of us left that aren't possessed by the dittos.

But Gemma...! She...she.....I can't just leave my Chu like that! I had to try SOMETHING to save her, but one of them caught me off guard and I was changed before I knew it.

Ehhhhh I guess I'll PM it to you then rather.

Yeah, and they don't seem to be going away either...

In fact, quite the opposite has been happening lately. XP

Yeah, last I saw both Corey and Ghostwriter had joined their ranks too. XP

I would've joined the Zoroark group if it was introduced earlier (in place of ERR because I didn't want to join something that was essentially an old idea). Too late now though. :p

Not impressed with the manifesto (and the banners, god why are they all the same art style) so far. :x

Nah, I don't want that. That's not how a group identity works. xc

Really I just want to ignore this is happening right now and hope this thing dies in a pit that way.

This is getting old fast. I'm tempted to write something about someone going the Omnicidal Neutral route.

And finally stop recycling old banners...

Chaotic Neutral! Hey, someone had to do something and I'm glad these guys showed up!

I actually really like the juxtaposition of the Zoroark vs the Ditto. It's like they're both similar yet different, both manipulate perceptions and identity, yet one is a psychological guise whereas the other one is more permanent and corporeal. (I'm rambling now, am I?)

This is a very clever and witty concept for like a forum event -- I'm not sure if this is like another iteration of WAR, since that's supposedly abolished now, but whatever, kudos to whoever came up with this~
