Many years ago, when the universe was just beginning, Arceus oversaw all that was being created. He ordered the continents be created and the skies be monitored. He ordered the land to flourish and the seas be strong. He ordered creatures be created and others be introduced. Everything was truly in harmony. Truth, ideals, and separation were all coexisting as one at the time. Truthfully, everything was at peace. Except, it was not. There was something missing from the world, and Arceus could not figure out what it was. Arcues decided it was best to ask his creations. So Arceus travelled to the region of Kanto where he confronted the birds and Mew.

"I feel there is something missing from this world. Do you think there is something missing?"

"We think the world is to boring," Moltres said. "Create a challenge for us to tackle below." So Arceus did as he was asked. He created evil within the hearts of the human of Kanto to give the legendaries a dastardly challenge. But the world still felt that it was lacking something, so Arceus moved onto Johto, where he spoke with Ho-oh, Lugia, and Celebi.

"I feel there is something missing from this world. Do you think there is something missing?"

"I feel the balance of power is unfair!" Ho-oh squawked. "Lugia has three servants that allow him to patrol two regions at once while I am merely bound to a tower in one city. I wish to have servants of my own to allow me to survey the lands abroad." So Arceus did as he was asked. He had lightning strike Lugia's tower and take the lives of three Pokemon, then gave Ho-oh to ability to revive them into servants of his own. But the world still felt that it was lacking something, so Arceus moved onto Hoenn. There he met with the Weather Trio, the Eon duo, the Regis, and Jirachi.

"I feel there is something missing from this world. Do you think there is something missing?"

"There is no challenge for me!" Rayquaza roared in frustration. "Everyone in this region has someone to compete against that is worthy of their competition. Yet I am forced to compare with a small shooting star. Give me an opponent that is worthy of my time!" So Arceus did as he was asked. He reached into the vast depths of space and created a being that was just as strong as Rayquaza. Inside of this creature, he placed a deep hatred of Rayquaza, so that when they eventually met, they would be the bitterest of rivals. But the world still felt that it was lacking something, so Arceus moved onto Sinnoh. There he met with his children, their guardians, and the various other legends that graced the sacred lands and he asked them,

"I feel there is something missing from this world. Do you think there is something missing?"

"There is not enough recognition of me!" Giratina cried out. "My brothers have their own domains and are worshipped as gods. The guardians of lakes are researched for mysticism. The king of the Regis has a temple for him. The Prince of the sea and his son are thrown festivals and the Queen of Flowers founded her own city. The duo of dreams have their own legends and myths while the ghost has his own home and the molten magma is worshipped in his mountain. I am ignored within my spring, where no one will ever find me. Give me some notoriety, a domain, and power! I wish to show the world my true might!" So Arceus did as he was asked. He created a domain just for Giratina, where he could watch the world and all its troubles. He gave Giratina a new form to shift into and allowed him powers to equal that of his brothers so that he might be worshipped with the others. But the world still felt that it was lacking something, so Arceus moved onto Unova. There he met with the spark, the Djinns, the swords of Justice, and the embodiment of truth, ideals, and separation. Once they were all gathered, Arceus asked them,

"I feel there is something missing from this world. Do you think there is something missing?"

"We wish to be separate!" three voices cried from the mighty dragon that ruled over Unova. "Our heroes are in conflict and we wish to support them! Grant us separation so we may protect what we believe in!" So Arceus did as he was asked. He split the mighty dragon into three different dragons, the one of truths, the one of ideals, and the one of separation. In doing so, he ensured that both sides of the war would be equal in might and that peace might one day return to the warring lands. But the world still felt that it was lacking something, so Arceus moved onto Kalos. There he requested presence with life, death, chaos, rings, steam, and diamonds, and he asked of them,

"I feel there is something missing from this world. Do you think there is something missing?"

"War has struck the lands using the powers we granted the people," Xerneas replied. "Seal us away and give our powers to Zygarde so that Kalos may be in better hands than ours." So Arceus did as he was asked. He sealed Xerneas into a tree and Yveltal into an egg, then gave fractions of their powers to Zygarde so that he might be able to transform into a true protector of Kalos. But the world still felt that it was lacking something, so Arceus moved onto Alola.

Upon arriving to Alola, Arceus saw that the land was shrouded into a mist with no light to differentiate the time. He floated down to the land and saw on an island, three little Pokemon playing all alone. The first was a Rowlet, young and wise, doing his best to stay in the sky. The second was a Litten, crafty and proud, doing his best to show off for the non-existent crowd. Lastly was Popplio, jubilant and free, bouncing so high he could reach a tree. Arceus saw that no other Pokemon were on the land, so he approached the young three and said to them,

"I feel there is something missing from this world. Do you think there is something missing?" The three little Pokemon all paused in their shows to think over their questions. Then, as one, they all spoke up,

"We are all so lonely, with no light or friends. We wish to have sunshine and moonlight, with people to share it with." So Arceus did as he was asked. He banished the fog that covered Alola and created life that covered the lands. First he took a ray that shined from the sun and with his thousand arms, crafted it into a brilliant lion of light. Then he took a star that shined in the night and with his thousand arms, crafted it into a mysterious bat of night. Arceus gave the two powers over the sun and moon, then returned to the little three Pokemon that he originally knew.

"Is this what you wanted?" he asked the little ones. "Your home is now coated in the brightness light, life and Pokemon growing everywhere. You have friends and family to play with now. Go give them a show, make me proud." So the three little Pokemon did as they were told, and gave a grand show for the sky bearers to behold. And the sky bearers, pleased with the show, made sure that Alola was never the same as before.
