Yeah, the whole dragon thing is an interesting change to the typical formula. I like that they're experimenting with these new concepts though, because it keeps the franchise fresh. It's kind of like what Sun and Moon are doing to the classic Pokémon formula; familiar, but with enough new twists that it doesn't feel stale.
Eh, basically you just pull up a list of castles in the menu or go straight to one of your friends' castles. You can talk to their character who has a set greeting. You can simply choose to battle them but you're only battling a computer. Actually, I think the most interesting choice they made of featuring your character as the dragon. :D
Oh wow, that's really interesting. Is it kind of like Join Avenue from Black/White 2? I thought that was a great feature, so if it's anything like that I'll be happy. Like you said though, the main reason to pick up a Fire Emblem game is for its story, especially because this one seems so interesting with the whole "pick what side of the war you're on" element.
You get your own castle. You can customize it to a point. You can't build it from the ground up but you can put different kinds of stores and stuff in it. You can exchange gifts between games and whatnot. I haven't used that element much because I mostly got it just for the story. You name it and visit other people's castle and challenge them. I gotta say I like the mages in Nohr a little more but they're still amazing in Hoshido~
Wait, what are these castles? Do you get your own one? How does it all work? My curiosity is piquing. And what you've said about the characters is interesting as well; the diverse cast is one of the things I really like about Fire Emblem games. :D
I'm not very good at them either; I played birthright in casual as well. But if you ever get the game and you like Japanese you should check out my castle--I went all out with the Japanese theme (I still cringe when I see other birthright players who keep Ft. in their castle name x_o). My character Katsu's design is kinda based on Athrun Zala from Gundam Seed and his battle cry is even Japanese. haha It does work very well. I really liked the wind tribe that you will meet early in the game and the character Rinkah, although she was surprisingly sorta useless unless you change her class. The kinshi knights are awesome as well, and I will always respect that racist pineapple lord. xD Having Corrin and Azura around helps him see the light a bit and it's interesting watching his growth. No spoilers on that account but some tragic stuff happens that helps along the way.
Birthright is the one I meant, I just forgot their names. I like a challenge too, but I'm not too good at Fire Emblem games (I even play in Casual Mode because I'm scared of permanent deaths). :3 Yeah, I really like the games' style. It's the first Fire Emblem game to ditch a more traditional Medieval setting for something more Oriental, I think, and it just works. The game looks amazing. :D
Actually birthright is the easier of the two. I don't mind a challenge but I picked it up because I love orient--the game is beautiful!
Longer by far. The first few were more fun because of the extra planets and because they packed in so much content. 3 is my all-time favourite because there was so much to do, the weapons were great and the story was pretty decent too. :D I haven't actually gotten either yet because of a number of reasons, but I think I'd pick Conquest because it's allegedly easier and I'm not too good at Fire Emblem games, even though I really enjoy them. :3
In your opinion do you prefer the R&C games to be shorter or longer? Did you go conquest or birthright first on FE14?
