To be fair though, the mythological figure that the word derives from actually was a symbol of love. In short, a water nymph fell in love with the son of Hermes and Aphrodite and wished to be united with him eternally, so they were, creating Hermaphroditis.
Pfft yeah probably
Oh, I have very scathing words to say about this utterly nefarious figure. I won't say all of them here because quite frankly I'd probably get banned (not really, I just don't want to get too political). He is a vile, arrogant moron who shouldn't be in charge of tying his own shoelaces, let alone being put in charge of the most powerful country in the world. In addition to defying almost every sensible path of logic in order to benefit himself and only himself, he is bringing back some... alarming policies, to say the least. Even the stuff he says he'll do, but probably won't be allowed to, is abhorrent. He threatened to jail political opponents. This is not normal in a democracy. Putin might love it, and Trump loves whatever Putin loves, so I guess it makes sense in his feeble, dim mind, but not to anyone with even the slightest amount of mental capacity.
Now you see, there's another reason why Trump angers me to such a high degree. I want to be a journalist that reports the truth, and Trump's barrage of the media and encouraging 'alternative facts' (fancy word for 'lies') makes this much harder for me. Some have also been arrested. In any sane society, this should not happen. As dangerous as it is to use such hyperbole, it's hard to deny that some elements of America's politics are heading in a very alarming direction we've all seen/heard of before. Not a good one. It's not like the Vice President is better; in fact, he's arguably worse. These people still believe in shock therapy for homosexuals, which has been rightfully debunked on countless occasions. They argue against climate change, which scientists have evidenced on countless occasions. Ignoring facts to push these vitriolic agendas is truly deplorable in every possible meaning of the word.
Then we see that the cabinet is the biggest bunch of pretentious, privileged prats that have ever been assembled. None of them have any experience, and all of them are ridiculously inept. What happened with the Attorney General just highlights how petty Trump is, and just how much he will put the country at risk in order to push his foolish manifesto that any child would confuse with a stand-up routine. All I can say is, to those of you who have to hear about this even more than this exasperated Brit, I weep for you and for your country. And mine. And the world, for that matter.
Yes, this is me containing myself. Catch me on a bad day and I think my ranting could very well outlive all of us.
I couldn't have put it better myself. You articulated perfectly every single feeling I have towards the circumstances. AND I DIDN'T EVEN MENTION THE FAKE MASSACRE! How did a person get away with such a ludicrous fabrication?
I remember hearing about controversy in Australia about people campaigning for gay marriage being ignored. It's monstrous to think that people are okay with banning marriage between two people who love each other simply because they're the same gender. Love is love, and not letting people formalise that is truly odious. It's odd, because I always imagine Australia as this paradise compared to the rest of the world, but then I remember it's comparatively super right-wing and video games cost roughly an organ of my choosing each. :(

Spoiler:
@Blaquaza That was amazingly well put. You are going to make an great journalist. :3c You bundled up everything I felt about him (and more) and presented it perfectly. Good vocab, too. :D
I don't really know what wing is which because I'm an ignorant doorbell, but basically EVERYONE is 'conservative' in our politics and while that prevents us from having a Trump-like disaster, it also means eevvverryyyone shares the same opinion. It's an utter joke that gay marriage is against the law. Sorry, what? My relationship with my girlfriend is seen only as a "domestic partnership" or some such rubbish. It definitely makes us feel like we're only half as valid as a heterosexual couple to our government. I know there are far worse things going on in the world so you know, I could have been born in a country where I get stoned to death for not obeying my abusive husband, or where I don't have access to fresh water, but it does still suck a bit. Anyway, this is pretty off-track. Well, it's related since Trump hates gay people. SHOCK THERAPY? XD Really? Sorry, but if that ain't gonna turn a duck into an elephant, it won't turn a gay person straight. It's literally genetics. You're born this way. The only people who dispute that? HMM, the people who aren't gay! xD
@Suicune's Fire, The conservative over here would be the represented by Trump and people of Republican beliefs, while the liberal are the Democrats like Clinton.
I think that's just semantic and arbitrary BS. Why should your relationship be any less significant than anyone else's? I'm willing to bet that your relationship is a better definition of a marriage than many of the marriages that are "legal." Happiness is happiness, you're not infringing on anyone else's happiness. I guess except all those outdated simple minded a**hats who think that because the have some power they can force everyone to believe that life should be lived by their narrow-minded definition.
I hate getting all ranty and complainy, except when it comes to horrible drivers, they deserve it LOL, so I'm not gonna bore you guys with some horribly long rant about my stance on all of this. But I can't help but hold both sides responsible, I have yet to hear a voice of sanity and reason (on either side) loud enough that it gets noticed. Until then I'm tempted to curl up on my favorite rug in front of a nice toasty fire and hibernate until all the crazies take each other out. If any of you non-americans have any room, I may start packing my bags, not because of Trump, or his opposition, but because everyone's gone bat-crap cray cray, and it'd be nice to just have a few laughs and maybe a cocktail or two.
and now for some dancy dance

I'm kind of clinging onto that hope of "everything will be okay." I see a lot of people posting and saying stuff but I'm not sure where they're getting this information from. Are people making sure their source of information is reliable? Where are people hearing these things and who are they hearing them from?
I don't know if it's just me, but everything seems to be a maze of biases, us versus them, and miniature civil wars erupting everywhere. :\
Ahh gotcha. then yeah...still not sure. XD All our politicians are kind of like that. We have "labour" and "liberal" and liberals are the more conservative ones. Weirdly. xD
Yeah, that's how I feel. :C Ugh, oh well. The response of friends and family means a whole lot more to me than the government's opinion, anyway. xD Even if it means we can't get married, lellll. Gay people could just jump on over to New Zealand to get married, but then back here it's not recognised anyway. xD
AND LOL I agree about bad drivers. They drive me (huehue) up the wall. Also "bat-crap cray cray" is my new favourite term.
THAT DANCING. XD That is a solid 10/10. Beautiful.
Aw thanks, you're too kind. When I rant I just regurgitate a dictionary; there was this one teacher at school who had the most eloquent vocabulary I've ever seen, and I'm just trying to even slightly replicate that (and hopefully I'm successful). :3
Right-wing is conservative, and left-wing is liberal. It's strange though, because although the extremes are different in terms of ideologies, some of their methods are scarily similar to one another. You're right though, it's only ignorant, arrogant people who have no knowledge of being gay themselves that think it is something that can be 'cured'. Last I checked, who you are isn't a disease, or anything wrong with you; by that logic we should be trying shock therapy to cure Trump. Seriously though, I'm not gay myself, but I know people who are, and the struggle they have to face because they're not sure how people will react to them is shocking in a modern day society. Why can't we all just embrace everyone, regardless of sexuality, faith, gender, and everything else? It baffles me that those who cling to faith are typically the most prejudiced as well, because they think they have moral justification when they're denying people of their basic rights, like getting married. I really do hate this world sometimes. -_-

Spoiler:
What I find odd is the lack of support for trump. I'm not saying I support him, or that anyone should, but where are the millions of people who voted for him to be president? It could just be he area I live in, but I rarely see people angrily bashing democrats and anti-Trump people like you could see for miles while the election was on. The worst I've seen is a few "calm down, it's not as bad as it seems" articles, even those aren't populous. The lack of fighting (of non-politicians) hopefully shows the country isn't quite as divided as it seemed in the election.
Honestly, I believe that the majority of citizens that voted for Trump were silent voters. I feel that they didn't want to have to deal with the public backlash that they were more than likely going to receive, so they kept quiet and just voted on Election Day. Because of that, I doubt you'll see many of them speak out now.
