    #RAK

Do you guys do it? or have you witnessed it happening? Has anyone ever shown you some RAK love?

If you're not sure what it means, it means random act of kindness

It doesn't have to be a grand gesture, it could be something as simple as helping someone put their groceries in their car.

I feel like there's so much negativity floating around us, and very little of the positive to make the day less gloomy.

as an example: Whenever I have a little extra quiche on me when I get my coffee I'll sometimes pay for the person behind me. It's happened to me a bunch of times and I've always felt that it made my day a little bit better. So I started doing it randomly myself. One of these days I'd like to just drop a gift card off and tell them to run it for everyone who comes in until there's nothing left

If you've done it, or seen it, or read it, or it's been done for you post it up. I don't think it's bragging, It's just a way to remind us that there's still good out there

I usually hold the door for people, it's not much but i see them smile, especially because most people nowadays act so vile

Too true, I've actually had people sneak into a closing door before me and not even touch it. Every little bit counts

I think most of us, if not all, do random acts of kindness almost everyday without noticing. I tend to do many of them myself. Sometimes I'll go above and beyond though and pay for the food/drink of the customer behind me. I end up feeling so good about it afterward. I love being kind.

Recently, I've been giving away spare change/dollars to the homeless when I come across them on freeway exits, under bridges, on street corners, etc.

i held the door for an older lady a few days back, she looked at me like i was the devil. so much for being nice. but i do always wish store clerks and such a good day when i'm done shopping. i like being kind, but most people around here must have social fobia or something. just another reason i hate this town.

Well I'm probably the lowest posting active member. All a part of my brilliant strategy to make the few things i post seem good!

    xDD Mujaffa.

The concept is so awesome. I wish I did them more, but it also depends. I mean, it depends if I'm out of the house or not. Which mostly I'm not. xD

yeah it's kind of sad that people question the motives of someone offering a kind gesture, but keep on truckin'. Retail can be such a thankless job sometimes, I worked in retail for a long time when I was younger and I have to say even a simple smile and a nod of thanks can hold you out for the rest of the shift. Or at least until the next customer comes along and snaps his fingers at you like a dog (true story) XD

@Suicune's Fire, I bet you do it more than you realize, any positive gesture you make towards someone may not seem out of character for you but if someone's having a bad day, that normal thing you do might be the best thing that happened to them that day.

It's not like you need to dress up in a super-flareon costume and do random good deeds for anyone you encounter. (It would be awesome if you did, and I'd love to see video of it XD) Sometimes you just being you is all some people need

Maybe I'll start linking some of the stories I read (I spend a lot of my "nothing else to do" time on the chive and they'll put stuff up that's pretty heartwarming.

@Soups, that's pretty cool, there's quite a few homeless people around where I live, and I think I've gotten a bit desensitized to it. But every once in a while someone will have a sign that's goofy like "My house got abducted by aliens" and I usually give them some change if only for the fact that they still find a way to make the best of a horrible situation.

I do them sometimes but I'm pretty shy, so unless someone looks like they actually need help, I probably won't offer. xD

I try to at least always be friendly and smile at people/wish them a good day though.

    One thing that sticks out for me is Christmas two years ago. I took my grandma to church on Christmas Eve. The lady next to me was singing all the Christmas songs really nicely so I complimented her singing and she seemed really surprised but happy. Then after when I was leaving she grabbed my arm and thanked me and said it had made her Christmas. ;_;

That's kinda why I like Christmas. It seems easier to be nice and people won't think you're being weird or want something from them. XD

It's kind of like a drug, I always feel a bit of a rush whenever something like that happens

"My house got abducted by aliens..." xD

I don't do it all of the time, but I actually enjoy doing it every once in awhile. You never know who may actually need it and who may not.
