Daily reminder that leaks are full of it and not to be trusted.

I dunno, I'm pretty dissapointed. The way I see it, it's a port, a third version, and a game we played 17 years ago. All they had to do was say Ultra Sun and Moon were on the switch and I'd be losing my mind right now, but it's not, and it just doesn't make sense to me.

Probably because most people don't own or don't want a Switch.

Though it is worth noting this from serebii "It is currently noted that The Pokémon Company International's press site is listing Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon as being on the Nintendo Switch with a "To Be Announced""

Well that's some backwards logic, don't you think? Pokemon is literally the Nintendo system seller. Nobody wanted a 3DS for the first year or so. Then the price dropped, Pokemon X and Y happened, and suddenly everyone had a 3DS now.

Well firstly I got a 3DS the December after it came out so. But either way, the Switch just released two months ago. That price drop isn't coming so soon and even though I'd like to have a Switch, I'd just suck it up and maybe eventually get the games way after they've released like I've had to with Pokkén Tournament. I can't afford a new gaming system right now so less sales for them.

Plus it's called marketing. Sure eventually they'll retire the 3DS but the Switch doesn't seem like the device that'll replace the 3DS, at least not right now. Maybe in a few years, but there's just not enough games for it and it's got too many complaints for it to be the sole console they use now. I can remember my friends giving XBox crap when they made stuff exclusive to one console that was brand new, why should Nintendo make the same mistake?

Pokemon have always been late to the new console party. They want to have the most people play their games in order for people to connect with the most people. The Switch isn't own by many people compare to the 3DS so they will stay on the 3DS for a bit longer.

Give Pokemon another year or two and I am sure it will be on the Switch with a main series game.

I would have bought a Switch for a new Pokemon main game. I'm not gonna buy one if I can play it on 3DS. xD

Silly Nintendo. They better at least fix the lag on 3DS...

Uh, same. I'm not concerned with when you or I got the 3DS, I'm concerned with when it widely sold. There's something big this year, moreso than other years: Holiday 2017 is going to be nuts. Super Mario Odyssey, Sonic Forces, and god knows how many games we're about to find out about at E3, any kid who loves nintendo is going to be begging for a Switch, especially if they were to announce Ultra S/M for the console. The 3DS came out a little more than 6 years after the original DS, and the DS came a paltry three and a half years after the GBA. It's been six years since the 3DS, the time frame is right. Just like the DS "wasn't going to replace the GBA," Nintendo is waiting to see how the sales figures look before they announce that the DS line is over. Investors would be terrified if they just up and said "3DS over, go buy a switch." But with the Switch sales coming deadly close to the sales of the Wii's legendary success, there's just no reason they should make a new console in the 3DS line. It'd kill Switch sales, and keep their development resources split for another 5-10 years.

And besides, if you were talking about literally any other game I could agree with the whole exclusive thing. It's the same reason Zelda was on both the Wii U and Switch. But this is a second version of one of the mainline games here. It's gonna be great, it's gonna be polished and have new pokemon and more postgame stuff, maybe even a different story if we're lucky. Crystal completely outclasses Gold and Silver in every way, but it's not like I'd be upset if I could only play one of those two. Because it's the same game, at the end of the day. Even if they didn't want to leave the 3DS out this time around, Monster Hunter XX can gets away with having a 3DS and Switch port. You can even play wirelessly between the two versions. It's literally a ported version with some shaders and a higher resolution, and that was enough to spark my interest from zero to preorder. Pokemon even uses a Cel-Shaded art style, the one art style that lends itself best to upscaling.

I mean it's not unusual for them to do this. We'll go with the DS since you just used that as an example. The device went on sale in America November 21, 2004. The first Pokémon Game for the Nintendo DS was Pokémon Dash, which was released March 13, 2005 for the US, so several months later. In fact, the Nintendo DS didn't get a mainstream game on it until 2006/2007 when Pokémon Diamond and Pearl came out. It took them 2-3 years to get a mainstream game on the new device. 3DS is the same way. The 3DS was released in 2011, and Pokémon XY didn't come out until 2013. So, like MC Elesa said, this is not unusual at all for them. And if it really bothers you that much then just don't go buy the games. Nintendo won't care either way.

That's the thing though, it is a second version, but it's vastly different from the way Gold and Silver went to Crystal. This is looking more along the lines of Black and White to Black and White 2, where they're sequels/somewhat connected to their predecessors. And from what I can tell, a lot of people didn't really like BW2 (personally I think they're fun games but a lot of people disagree). Like I said before, I don't really see it as a problem. The Switch just came out, it's way to expensive for some people, as MC Elesa said, Pokémon is about connecting people and I can count on one hand the amount of people I know that own a switch and I know only one of them in real life. So just give them a few years, after all every other time they've gotten a new system it's taken about two years for a main stream game to be put on it anyway.
