Trust me, I feel bad for every Stalker RPG season that never finished as well. A few did finish (some were given a shortened duration) but there were a couple where the burnout just got too hard for both the players (many silently dropped out) and for me. It was like "oh crap, we've been at this for four months now and they still have a ways to go..."
Given, I wish I discovered the formula for Stalkers RPG way back when during earlier times (many ideas of mine crashed and died prior to it). I would have liked to get more successful millage out of it and start it back in like 2006 rather than 2016 (instead of writing a ton of meh fan fiction that I'd probably never revisit). There were a lot of members of the PE2K community that came and left that never experienced it and I think they would have liked it.
But yeah, events and ideas like these... impossible to run on Discord. With forums essentially dead, I'd have to get an idea like that programmed into an actual fan game with menu interfaces and graphics and all that stuff (and I'm not a programmer). That's a HUGE undertaking. And the reward for being successful and famous with something like that is you get copyright strikes from Nintendo.
It was good fun while it lasted, though. It at least beats the reality that it was possible I could have never tried this idea and it wouldn't have happened at all. So I'm glad it had a good few solid years to shine and people enjoyed it for the most part.
It's nice to see everyone doing well. Looks like I haven't posted in over three years, jeez! I hope your non-PXR lives have been treating you well.
Yeah, I'm drawing a blank as far as that goes. Something like Stalkers RPG would need an entire Discord server of its own and even then I think it would be hard to manage everything with its format. With the way Discord is, things just get buried way too fast in a sea of chat and having to resort to references or update stats is just really hard. And that's the thing, Stalkers RPG main character stats was a pretty huge page. Same with the list of all the civilians interviewed and locations searched. Certain things like that would have to be linked to a Google document or something along those lines and that's a lot for a player to have to fumble around with. Forums just make it easy for things to be linked up and cross referenced which helps the players and myself find stuff that happened in the past.
As for Pikachu Survivor Game and Devolution Battle Royale, they just don't work simply because no one has signatures in Discord and avatars can't be changed by the admin. Those games relied heavily on me goofing around with those and without it, it's just not the same. Not to mention DBR's battle system was a broken, hot mess.
Hey, I'm glad you still enjoyed them. No worries about dropping out early, those campaigns got really complex sometimes. My ambition and inspiration got carried away too often. xD
Though there's only a few people left here, if I had four or more interested peeps, I could host a mini version of Stalkers. Like 15 civilians, 3 of them are Stalkers, and it takes place in a creepy, secluded village where you have 5 days to eliminate the three Stalkers. Could totally work!
Three years, dang. Hope things have been well with you, too.
These days have been all art and comics for me. Stuff on DeviantArt and ComicFury for the most part while taking part in Art Fight and stuff like that.
Yeah it's still nice being able to come back here. I may have missed out on the glory days of PE2K and even got here to PXR a little into its lifespan, but it's been fun! Glad to see the forum still here either way.
Sure many of us may be mainly on Discord, but this place will always be great and full of memories too.
The time is upon us...
