Name: Roberta Lee “Arlee” Garlake
Gender: Female
Age: 17
Power (If any): Superhuman strength, you would call it
Appearance:
At a glance, Arlee does not stand out from the legions of teenage runaways that flock to their Mecca of New York City. Her curly blonde hair, once bouncy and sheen, has become duller and limper, her blue eyes are sunken and constantly scanning for danger, and her full five-foot, ten frame is obscured by poor posture. In another life, with her heart-shaped face and flowing golden tresses, Arlee could be an attractive young woman in a girl-next-door way if it were not from her state of materialistic distress and her mutation. While from a glance, Arlee appears to be a normal teenage girl, underneath her wealth of hoodies, sweat pants, and other unflattering clothing, Arlee possesses the body of an Olympic bodybuilder, such as Arnold Schwarzenegger in his prime. Muscles as big of your head and abs so firm you could grate cheese on them grant the young woman the ability to perform incredible feats of strength.
History:
Arlee grew up with just her father, a fiery Southern Baptist preacher who was prone to the extremes of the emotional spectrum, lambasting his congregation or celebrating his daughter’s achievements in nothing but the most empathic and heartfelt ways. Despite his many sermons preached on the unnatural phenomenon of Forams, his skepticism about the government’s mandated vaccines convinced him to pay a small bribe to have Arlee avoid the injection that could have prevented her manifestation.
For most of her life, Arlee Garlake lived a happy life in the small Alabama town that she called home. She played soccer, had sleepovers, and was tight with a sizable group of friends. That all came to an end when she was thirteen. With the onset of puberty came a far more unique development: Arlee began putting on an incredible amount of muscle mass, eventually developing a physique that looked as if should belong to Sylvester Stallone rather than a frightened teenage girl.
While she had always loved her father and knew that he loved her, his warnings of the danger that Foram posed caused her to believe that she would be disowned and kicked out of his house should he find out about her condition. To this end, she began wearing large baggy clothing that hid her growing bulk, even in the hot sticky Alabaman summers, confident that even the slightest glance of her ripped forearm would result in government agents swooping in and experimenting on her.
Because of the prodigious amount of food that she needed to intake to maintain her new form, many people assumed that Arlee was simply becoming, in the cruel parlance of her peers, the “fat chick”, and she did nothing to correct their perceptions. Her mounting unpopularity and unwillingness to participate in even the most basic of social activities eroded her friend group into nothingness. Her father also bought the ruse, especially since he chalked up her shift in behavior, dress, and diet to the process of a female development that he remained woefully ignorant of.
For awhile it seemed as though this deception could continue forever, but then Arlee faced the greatest danger to her secret yet: gym class. Physical education was a graduation requirement, and, as Arlee was entering her senior year, she needed to take it starting in the fall. Try as she might to beg for a reprieve, the school’s counselors were not particularly attentive to what they saw as the pleas of an overweight youth attempting to avoid exercise. With no other choice, Arlee spent the summer working as a waitress to save up some money and then ran away from home the day before school began.
While she started off without a destination in mind, Arlee eventually decided to make her way to New York City, her thought process being that it would be easier to lose herself in the largest city in the country. Though she would never voice the foolish hope, Arlee also thought that, with so many people, at least one of them would know how to “undo” her condition.
Now, months after leaving everything she knew to hop from youth hostel to youth hostel, and facing one of the coldest Decembers that the city had ever seen, Arlee seems no closer to the happiness and peace that she is seeking.
Personality:
Arlee was once a happy and bubbly girl, but that all changed with the manifestation of her mutation. Four years of concealing her true nature from her father left her skittish and withdrawn, even now that she is far, far away from her old life. Despite living on her own for a few months, Arlee is still woefully naďve of the everyday dangers of life on the streets, so focused is she on concealing her status as a Foram. That being said, there is still a trace of the bright personality inside of her somewhere, waiting for someone trustworthy to help bring it out. Arlee has never lacked for loyalty, and depending on who she is finally able to open up to, she could fall in deep with the wrong crowd.

Name: Jonathan "Night Blossom" Miller
Gender: Male
Age: 27
Power (If any): Plant Manipulation
Appearance: On the outside, there isn't much that makes it clear Jonathan, AKA Night Blossom, is a Foram. He stands about 6'2", weighs about 180 pounds, and has a tan skin tone. He also has short brown hair and brown eyes.
He usually wears dark blue jeans, black sneakers with black socks, and a black hoodie over a white t-shirt. He also has a silver watch and a steel chain necklace. To any other person, there is virtually nothing that makes it possible to detect his Foram powers until he starts using them. He also doesn't show very much restraint in using them when it comes to combat situations.
In terms of physical attributes, he's stronger than most even though he's not quite the bodybuilder type. Still, in a fist fight, usually he'll win and he's not the type most muggers are going to go after simply because they don't want to end up with a broken nose and pulverized groin. And that's even without Jonathan's powers being utilized.
History: Jonathan grew up in Brooklyn, right on Parkside Avenue overlooking Prospect Park. As a child, Jonathan was always quite smart but never liked taking orders or following directions and he often questioned the authority of his teachers and the rest of the school faculty. As a result, his failing grades were not because of low intelligence, but because he hated taking orders from teachers and having to do assignments to prove he knew the material. On top of all that, he greatly disliked being graded. Even if he got questions right, he was stripped of his grades because he didn't "show his work" or "explain his answers" even though he was right. As a result, he grew up hating society that fosters this kind of garbage while his classmates, very often teacher's pets and butt-kissers, would be successful and would head off to ivy league colleges. He felt it was a "loser's world" and it caused his sarcastic and cynical nature to grow.
Jonathan tried to major in structural engineering, but again, while he had the smarts to be a great engineer, it was the schoolwork and assignments that he didn't care for. For the few he did that he actually want to do, he really excelled, but the others were things he didn't care for and as a result, failed simply because of incompletion from a lack of motivation, not because of poor work.
During his college years, Jonathan discovered his Foram power. He realized he could create and modify plant life, shape it, govern it, recreate it, make produce grow within just seconds, and many other similar vegetation-based powers. At first, he felt it was borderline useless and didn't have the destructive nature he was hoping for in a Foram power until he delved deeper into what he could do with it. He realized he could weaponize vines, thorn bushes, and even create neurotoxins. It also gave him unlimited access to create, harvest, and distribute what are normally the most rarest and most dangerous of plants.
With no hope of a career left, Jonathan got into the underground world of drug trafficking by becoming a supplier. His power allowed him to quickly and indiscreetly grow highest-grade marijuana and get it to distributors and dealers quickly without having to slowly grow them in hidden greenhouses. It gave him more than enough income, but it also meant there was no way he could settle down anywhere for too long if he wanted to avoid getting caught. Meanwhile, his ability to create extremely lethal poisonous plants like rosary peas and castor beans made him a sought-after resource by assassins as some of the accessibility to these plants is extremely difficult.
As a result of his trade, Jonathan is always forced to live on the run and be ready to go at any moment. Because of all this, he doesn't have too many physical belongings of great value that he can't afford to leave behind, but he's usually got plenty of cash and does money laundering when those opportunities present themselves. As time goes on, Jonathan has been experimenting and working with his power to create his own new and completely homemade types of plants, flowers, and vegetation for whatever he or his clients need them for. He can provide medicinal herbs and medicine, but due to the fact he doesn't have much of a doctor's background, he needs someone else to tell him what exactly they need for certain injuries. He is, however, learning through this and has gotten better at guessing which medicinal herbs and plants are more ideal for certain situations.
In the past, Jonathan has been seriously injured twice because of getting caught in the middle of gang wars and drug raids, but because of his involvement, going to a hospital was simply out of the question. After trying some more experimentation on himself, he realized his Foram power extends to his own body. He can turn himself into a humanoid plant form to mend over his wounds and regenerate, though this isn't a fast process and still takes a few minutes of uninterrupted focus which is usually only available before or after a fight. He usually prefers to go right back to being human to blend in, though if he anticipates combat, he'll actually assume a humanoid plant form to be ready to heal himself if he should become injured, though this transformation takes a few minutes.
In this form, he'll usually be wearing very large and highly toxic and poisonous flowers all around his body. Several of these, like the ones on his back and on the rear of his head are umbrella-sized while his whole lower trunk is surrounded by giant flower petals like a skirt and work both as clothing and as a protective covering body armor. Meanwhile, he wears a belt, wristbands, headband, and necklace of these same colorful but highly toxic flowers. Jonathan is immune to the toxins, but anyone attempting to fight him in hand to hand combat or with a bladed or blunt weapon runs an extremely high risk of being poisoned from them even just from touching a single petal with their bare skin. Some of his not-so-smart enemies have ridiculed his decision to wear flowers like this and look like a colorful walking flower bouquet, up until they realize the truth the hard way that he might as well be dripping with corrosive acid. Sure, he could have decided to wear thorns, briars, and cactus spines as his armor instead, but he finds it just a bit more satisfying when the threat isn't quite so immediately obvious and is actually deadlier. Not to mention he tried a cactus-like form and he was often unintentionally pricking himself. As a result of his tendency to take on this flower form, his nickname became "Night Blossom" among his peers and while he doesn't care an ounce about subtlety and doesn't care if his actual name is used, he'll use the nickname while others are trying to protect and keep their actual names confidential.
While he uses this "Night Blossom" form, those who are smarter will at least try to shoot him, though for Jonathan, bullet wounds aren't hard at all to heal in this plant/flower form provided he has a minute and isn't riddled with gunfire. His survivability in this form is much higher than a human's and he could even regenerate appendages that have been dismembered. Fire and ice, however, are much bigger problems than before, but usually the police and gangs aren't using these elements against him. However, he would have a bad experience with a Molotov cocktail if that was ever used on him.
Today, Jonathan is now part of Demon's Run to keep Foram powers protected. While his have been realized and mastered, he feels no one has the right to take the powers away from Forams that haven't realized theirs just yet.
Personality: Jonathan is often snarky and sarcastic. He may sound pessimistic, but in truth, not really all that much worries him as long as he has his Foram powers ready. He isn't too worried about the cops or anything like that either. He's been shot at, stabbed, and has been in places where all hell has broken loose in gang rivalries. He doesn't align with any gangs beyond payment, so when the Bloods and the Crips start shooting each other in turf wars, he just lets them do their thing while he moves off to the side in a safe area and lets them enjoy themselves.
He isn't very good with following orders, but if he can relate to the one giving them, chances are he'll be a bit more compliant, though he'll often want something in return or expect the favor to be repaid. He likes Amy a little bit and he'll be reliable to her for the most part, but it doesn't go much further than that. Getting him to do something he doesn't personally agree with is very unlikely to happen. If he does go along with a suggestion, it's only because he personally sees value to it and likely felt that way to begin with.
He joined Demon's Run because simply put, he hates the vaccine and the elimination of the Foram before they've even had the chance to experience what should rightfully be theirs. He feels this power is their right and if someone feels they can take it away, then Jonathan feels he should be able to pluck their eyes out and take their sight away, or rip their legs off and take their ability to walk and run away. As a result, he'll be out to destroy and wipe out any supporters of the vaccine and anyone that tries to fund it or distribute it. That's the one big thing that pushed him to join Demon's Run while before, he didn't want to make any permanent commitment to a gang affiliation beyond being involved with the drug trafficking and making sure he gets the money he wants.
Jonathan's attitude is that even if all were to go completely to hell, he could potentially survive with no money and no possessions.
Alignment (If any): Demon's Run
Other: In most cases, Jonathan's plant-based powers are similar to grass-type Pokémon attacks, though he does go a few steps further in terms of conjuring them. While in his plant/flower humanoid form, he's essentially like a grass-type Pokémon.

Name: Roy Acciai "Blind Specter"
Gender: Male
Age: 29
Power (If any): Light based invisibility
Appearance: Roy is a 5'8 male weighing in at about 162 pounds. He is clean and kept, usually wearing a suit or something nice when he is in public. He has black hair with a widow's peak and light colored skin.
History: Roy grew up the son of a middle class family that had a history of the Foram gene. Born in Albany, New York, Roy was never aware of his parents' secrets. All that he knew was that the Foram shots were bad, but he didn't know why. While it wasn't easy, Roy managed to skip all the shots and forge the necessary documents to get by. He went through middle and high school with an increasing interest in history and politics. He began to study law with the intent to go to law school and become a member of Congress. Upon hearing of his aspirations, his parents strongly warned against this, worried this could bring unwanted attention to their family. However, Roy refused to listen.
When Roy was 16, he discovered he could turn invisible. While in class one day, Roy left to use the restroom, only for the whole place to go into full lock down while he was out of the classroom. One of the other students had gone full on psycho and planned to kill as many students as possible. Roy tried to return to his classroom but due to protocol he was not allowed back in. So Roy took his chances with hiding in the boy's restroom. As he sat crosslegged on one of the toilets, Roy heard the shooter enter the bathroom. The student began to kick open each stall door, looking for people hiding inside. Roy could hear them drawing closer and began to pray that somehow the shooter would miss him. He heard the shooter stop outside of his stall and felt the force of the kick shack the stall as the shooter kicked the door open. Roy stopped breathing, making eye contact with the shooter before the shooter suddenly just moved off, as if he had never even seen Roy. Then everything went dark. It was only after the shooter had left that Roy dared to move and his eyesight returned.
Roy later confided in his parents what had happened and through training, they realized he had light based invisibility. This meant that Roy could turn himself completely invisible, but at the cost of his eyesight. After a few seconds, Roy would go totally blind until he lifted his invisibility. Roy's parents expressed the importance of keeping his powers a secret, especially if he pursued a position in government. Roy had never understood more in his life the seriousness of his situation. Still, he was not one to give up on his dream and continued on the political path, going through law school and eventually obtaining one of the House of Representative seats for the state of New York. Since he is considered fresh blood, he is largely overlooked, giving him an advantage of lurking close to his enemies as well as his allies. While he himself doesn't do much vigilante work, he does have accounts on Foram forums known as "Blind Specter" to get a better feeling of what the Forams want so he can properly represent it in Congress. He does spend a fair amount of time in his office in Manhattan though.
Personality: Roy is driven, wanting to make change and willing to go to great lengths to see it happen. He may seem cold on the political front, but if you get to know him as a person rather than a politician, it is easy to see the kind soul underneath. Roy is very loyal, willing to stick with a cause or person for longer than most would ever dare.
Roy is very passionate about government and will defend the system as best he can when it is criticized. While he is willing to acknowledge its faults, he does not believe anarchy is any better than the situation they have now. As a result, he really doesn't like Demon's Run, seeing them as a symbol of anarchy when there is already a system in place that can accomplish what the Demon's Run wants to in a format that has many fewer causalities.
Alignment (If any): Vigilantes
Other: His head of his political staff is Nadire.
Name: Nadire Masson
Gender: Female
Age: 25
Power (If any): Telepathy
Appearance: Nadire is a 5'3 woman with a thin frame and long legs. She has slightly dark skin with shoulder blade length brown hair. Her eyes are dark brown and she has two moles on her left cheek.
History: Nadire was born and brought the United States with a dual citizenship when she was just a baby. Her father, the United States ambassador to Turkey, was a proud anti-foram until his daughter tested positive for having foram DNA. He pressed for his daughter to get the vaccines but later found out that his wife had been paying off the doctors to avoid the vaccines. Shocked, the ambassador did his best to keep the conspiracy under wraps and place Nadire in a position where she could most likely be undetectable by the government.
This ended up resulting in Nadire studying to become a political strategist. For a while, the subject was very difficult to her, until one morning in her freshman year of high school, she was able to hear the inner thoughts of those all around her. She began to practice, able to turn it on and off at will and somewhat focus on certain speakers to hear their thoughts about the background noise of everyone else's. It was during law school that she met Roy and they kept in contact even after graduation. Thus, when Roy was in need of a strategist on his team, Nadire was perfect for the job.
Personality: Analytical and precise but also very nervous, Nadire prefers to stay quiet and observe rather than speech herself. She tends to isolate herself so that she can relax without much interruption from those around her. Nadire has a strong sense of obligation that means if she feels like she needs to do something, she will get it do and go to great lengths to meet all expectations set for her. She personally has no stake in the Foram fight so long as she isn't caught, but she could be easily swayed one way or the other.
