Tony went in to the Oreburgh Gym with his freshly evolved Bibarel and figured that, since most rock types were dual-type with ground, he could do some massive damage with a water-type. As such, he chose the hard battle to fight with hopes that Wishpoosh could carry him close enough to victory for the rest of his team to clean it up.

The first two battles went smoothly, Wishpoosh taking down both with minimal damage, but the third battle was the straw that broke the camel's back. Both pokemon went down, and Roark was down to his last one, but it was clearly much stronger than any of Tony's. It now came down to a 1 v 5 match with the odds stacked in favor of the 1. Four of Tony's pokemon were weak to rock, so he sent in the exception. After Thor fell, Tony sent in both of his starters, Ifrit and Zuko, and finally Vedfolnir. At the end of it, he won without sending in Eunomos, and Vedfolnir still standing, though just barely. Tony approached Roark.

"Good fight." he said, shaking the gym leader's hand.
