It’s time for the seasonal Halloween event!

Pokémon Masters EX is introducing its Halloween-themed content updates for 2020! Players will be able to add Halloween-inspired versions of Acerola & Mimikyuand Hilbert & Mightyena to their teams via the sync pair spotlight scout, available now until November 1 at 9:59PM Pacific time.
New Sync Pairs

The sync pair of Acerola & Mimikyu can unleash Ghost-type attacks like Phantom Force, which protects the player’s team from opponent moves for a short amount of time before counter-attacking. The Dark-type sync pair of Hilbert & Mightyena uses physical attacks like Crunch and Double-Edge. Both sync pairs can reach a 6?EX Potential rating, which increases the strength of their sync moves and provides them with an additional optional Halloween-inspired outfit to wear.

Known as Acerola Fall 2020, this new sync pair features Acerola pairing up with the mighty Mimikyu! This is a five star Tech sync pair capable of reaching the EX level and has an unlockable sync grid. The focal move type is Ghost with a weakness to Steel types. Mimikyu gets three passive skills in Pokémon Masters: Criticonfuse 9, Opportunistic 9, and its signature ability, Disguise. Criticonfuse 9 leaves the target confused when the user lands a critical hit. Opportunistic 9 lowers the target’s Defense when an attack is successful against a confused opponent. Disguise protects the Pokémon from damage from a single attack move. After this passive skill takes effect, the Pokémon shifts from Disguised Form to Busted Form. Mimikyu also gets the type skill, “Ghost Tech”, which raises allies’s Attack and Sp. Atk by 12 when using Ghost-type attacks and raises the maximum HP of all allied sync pairs by 12.
The sync pair gets three attacking moves: Shadow Claw, Shadow Sneak, and Phantom Force. Shadow Claw is a ghost type physical attack that requires the use of two move slots. It has 100 accuracy and a max power of 40-48. However, don’t worry about its low power, as critical hits land very easily when using Shadow Claw. Shadow Sneak is another ghost type physical attack that requires the use of three move slots. It also has 100 accuracy but has a max power of 75-90. Finally, Phantom Force is a ghost type physical attack that requires the use of three move slots. It has 100 accuracy with a max power of 160-192. When using this move, the user takes on a phantom presence stance. After a set time, this presence fades and the user attacks. No other actions can be taken while in phantom presence. Opponents’ moves will not hit the user while it is in this presence. If the user is hit by a sync move while in phantom presence, the presence will fade. Acerola also provides Mimikyu with a support move called “Boo!” This requires two move slots and sharply raises the user’s Attack. In addition, when in Disguised Form, it raises the user’s critical-hit rate. When in Busted Form, it raises the user’s Defense and Sp. Def. Finally, the pair gets the sync move, Trick-or-Treat Shadow Claw. This physical ghost type attack has a max power of 200-240, though its power increases if the target is confused. In addition, if the EX Sync Effect is active, the power multiplies by 1.5!

Known as Hilibert Fall 2020, this new sync pair features the surprise pairing of Hilibert and Mightyena! This is a five star Strike pair capable of reaching the EX level and has an unlockable sync grid. The focal move type for this pair is Dark with a weakness to Fairy types. Like Mimikyu, Mightyena gets three passive skills in Pokémon Masters: Carry On 1, Spur On 4, and Dark Shift. Carry On 1 raises the user’s Attack each time another Pokémon on the field of play faints. Spur On 4 charges the user’s move gauge by four each time another Pokémon on the field of play faints. Finally, Dark Shift turns Normal-type moves into Dark-type moves. It also has the type skill Dark Strike, which raises allies’s Attack and Sp. Atk by 15 when using Dark-type attacks.
This sync pair gets two attacking moves: Crunch and Double-Edge. Crunch is a dark type physical attack that requires the use of three move slots and has a max power of 99-118. It also has a small chance of lowering the target’s Defense. Double-Edge is a normal type physical attack that requires the use of three move slots. It has 100 accuracy and a max power of 167-200. The user also takes 25% of the damage it dealt to the target. It’s also important to note that while this move is normally normal type, with the passive skill “Dark Shift”, it becomes dark type instead! This sync pair also has two trainer support moves: an X Attack and the trainer move “Rawr!”. X Attack requires the use of two move slots and sharply raises the user’s Attack. “Rawr!” is a special trainer move that also requires the use of two move slots. It sharply raises the user’s Speed, radically raises the user’s Speed if the user is affected by a status condition, and sharply raises the user’s critical-hit rate, but at the cost of lowering the user’s Defense and Sp. Def. So it’s a bit of a double edged sword. Finally, they get the sync move Bump-in-the-Night Crunch, a physical dark type attack with a max power of 250-300. It also raises the user’s critical hit rate and, if the EX Sync Effect is active, the move targets all Opponents!
Halloween Events

An in-game story event titled “Fight or Fright” is also available now until November 1 at 9:59PM Pacific time for players who have completed Chapter 1 of the Main Story. This event features Acerola and Hilbert in their Halloween-themed attire as they join the Midnight Parade on Pasio to battle various Ghost Pokémon in exchange for sugary treats.
As part of the “Fight or Fright” event, players that log in to the game daily until November 1 at 9:59PM Pacific time will be able to receive up to 1,000 Gems, enough to add three sync pairs to their teams.
Third Egg Event

In addition to all the Halloween events going on, a new egg event is set to begin soon as well! This event adds multiple Ice or Fighting-type Pokémon to Eggs including Lapras & Primeape and allows for you to form Sync Pairs with them and the Main Character. It’s expected to arrive in a few days. We’ll give more information on it once it drops!
So what are you waiting for? Get out there and become a Pokémon Master!
