Things are about to get a little chilly
On June 22nd the Spotlight will shine on, Swinub, the Pig Pokémon. To fully prepare you for this hour long weekly event, let’s go on a journey to discover everything we can about this Ice and Ground-Type Pokémon.
About Swinub

Swinub is 1’4″ and weighs only 14.3 lbs. They reside mostly in frozen tundras and icy caves. It uses it’s thick fur to keep warm, and it’s stubby nose to dig up food from under the snow. Fun fact, Swinub is the only Pokémon that can be resistant to damage from all types of weather effects, including Shadow Sky, without the aid of an Ability.
It’s name is derived from swine and nub possibly referring to is short snout or stubby legs.
In Pokémon GO

Swinub’s strongest moveset is Powder Snow & Return and it has a max CP of 741. When evolved into Piloswine it’s strongest moveset is Ice Shard & Avalanche and it has a max CP of 2,345. Evolved once further, Mamoswine’s strongest moveset is Mud-Slap & Avalanche and it has a max CP of 3,328.
The shiny form of Swinub was released during it’s Community Day on February 16th, 2019.
Tips for Spotlight Hour

This Spotlight hour, which runs form 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. local time will also feature 2x the XP for evolving Pokémon. Now this seems a little counter-intuitive. They give you an hour to catch Swinub, but they also want you to evolve things during that same to, reap the rewards of the bonus. Take your pick of either catching or evolving. Which ever is going to benefit your game play more.
See you around, Genesect!
