Yeah, I think that would be my main challenge if I were to move. It's always easier if the job itself it what relocates you, because most of the time they'll pay for it.

Yeah that wasn't the case for me but also I think that's more likely to happen in the private sector than the public sector anyway so fingers crossed you get lucky

Well I do technically have a "government" job here. So there's no telling.

Yeah, I haven't ever had a government job, they've all been with companies, usually as a contractor through temporary staffing agencies.

They were ok for a while, but I definitely don't recommend getting stuck with them for the long term. But if it's the route you need to go, make great connections and network there. Find out what their career website is, ask around for news about openings, and see if you can get something with that while having that network of references. That's what really worked well for me.

yeah that's what mine is technically. A contract job. So while it could be cut one day, there's no current talks of it. I keep getting notices from the company to tell me I need to put in for where I'd like to be relocated to and if I would like to relocate. I'm sure given a circumstance they might reach out. Would be nice!

Yeah, I've been with some other contractors that have held that position for quite a few years and sometimes there's benefits and things like paid vacation. But given the option, while being permanent and fulltime sometimes feels a bit more intense, I'd sooner go for this given the option.

I do need to find something that'll pay more. Like something to keep for years to come. This job is nice, but pay isn't something that'll keep me sustained forever.

Yeah, I hear ya, I don't make nearly as much as my brother does and he's younger than I am. To be honest, though, I think where I went wrong, I should have gotten internships during college, but I was solely focused on classes and used my summers to take summer classes rather than try to do internships alongside them.

I honestly didn't think they were all that important, but yeah, if an internship becomes a fulltime hiring, that makes a HUGE difference in terms of long term growth with the company and how it affects your pay. Bleh, as a result, I just feel I'm now far behind other people I know because of a slight oversight like that.
