The Task Force has assembled and discussed the future of Pokémon GO.
Niantic has come forward and announced some of their plans as set forth by the newly appointed Task Force. The reasoning behind this? Niantic recently reverted their extended Pokéstop and Gym spin distance. You can read all about it here. We were promised an update on September 1st, and here we are. Here’s what you can expect from Niantic and Pokémon GO.
We Need To Communicate Better

A common complaint that was brought up to the Task Force, by community leaders and social media influencers, was the lack of real time communication and insight to what is going on at the Niantic offices. Often we feel our bug reports are falling on deaf ears. Now we will be granted more visibility on what bugs are being prioritized and worked on.
Speaking of community leaders, they will be give more opportunities to speak with Niantic’s Task Force. From what I have heard, the first meeting was very positive and truly helped pave the way for the recent changes. It is very exciting to know that these talks will continue and the game will be given a greater chance to grow and flourish.
Starting in October, a developer diary will be published every other month to share the latest priorities, events, and features for Pokémon GO. Little is known about the developer diary, but I am very excited to read about the goings on within Niantic and the thought process behind the decisions that ultimately effect how we play.
The full blog post is available here, which goes into a little more detail. How does this announcement make you feel, and what do you hope comes from this transparency? Check it out and let us know your thoughts on Twitter.
See you around, Genesect!
