Do you have what it takes to capture Shadow Lugia?
Back in 2005, Pokémon Gale of Darkness XD was released for the Nintendo Gamecube. The game was a sequel to Pokémon Coliseum. It’s story mode lead us to the Orre region five years after the events of Coliseum, where a criminal organization known as Cipher, has created Shadow Lugia. For years, every time a new game was announced, fans have been pleading for the inclusion Shadow Lugia. An attempt to reclaim the excitement we all felt when encountering it for the first time.
Fast forward to present day where our prayers have been answered. And what better development team to screw it up than Pokémon GO creators, Niantic. Remember when we asked for Squirtle wearing sunglasses, ala the Squirtle Squad from The Pokémon Anime? Instead we got round glasses reminiscent of those that were worn by hippies in the 70’s.
Pokémon GO To The Rescuse

Niantic proved once again, to disappoint. During the “A Looming Shadow Returns” event, Giovanni can be found by completing tasks on page 15 of the Special Research “Misunderstood Mischief.” As usual he has taken control of a Legendary Pokémon. This time Lugia has been possessed by the evil that is Team Rocket. Fans would have loved the iconic Shadow Lugia from Gale of Darkness, (which was created by none other than James Turner by the way). Instead we get a basic Lugia that has the same shadowy aura around it that we have seen with all of Team Rocket’s Shadow Pokémon.
Fans shouldn’t be too upset though. We can take solace knowing that our voices were heard and Shadow Lugia, sort of, made it’s comeback. Are there any other Pokémon that made an impact that you’d like to see make an appearance again? Be sure to let us know!
See you around, Genesect!
