Dash cam catches officers ignoring a robbery to catch some Snorlax!
Back in April of 2017 two LAPD officers were fired for playing Pokémon GO while on duty. A robbery was in progress at a nearby mall and responding officers requested backup.
So What Happen?

Officers Louis Lozano and Eric Mitchell were in the area but chose not to respond to the call at the mall. The courts decided it best to bring the in-car recording system in as evidence. The device, more commonly known as a dash cam, recorded audio of the officers saying “Aw, screw it!” and opting to go find a Snorlax that was near by.
Lozano and Mitchell initially denied the allegations on the grounds that in-vehicle recording were not meant to record “private conversations.”
The audio continues as the two can be heard discussing the most efficient route to get to the Pokémon. After catching the Snorlax one of the officers exclaimed, “Got ’em!” The officers agreed to “Go get the Togetic!” More excited shouts were heard such as, “Don’t run away”, “Buried it in an Ultra Ball”, and “The guys are going to be so jealous.”
The officers appealed their case on January 7th of 2022, claiming they were merely reading accounts of others catching the Pokémon on social media. The judge assigned to the case had no choice but to deny their pleas, and found their challenges without merit.
One interesting thing here, because specific Pokémon (Snorlax and Togetic) were named during the proceedings, their definitions needed to be added to the court documents in case any clarifications were needed. Here is what was said in the footnotes about each.
According to evidence admitted at the board of rights hearing, “Snorlax” is a Pokémon creature known as “the Sleeping Pokemon”
