Lastly, a brand new online animated series set in the Hisui region has been announced. This new animated series will be an original storyline that will launch later in 2022.
Generation 9! Pokemon Scarlet and Violet

Lastly, the announcement of a new generation was revealed at the Pokemon Present along with new games! And starters!
Our next adventures will be in Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet. Little information was shown regarding the game but we did see plenty of new locations in this unknown region.
What we do know is that Pokemon Scarlet and Pokemon Violet will allow trainers to explore and open world with various new towns with boarders that blend into the wild. This sounds similar to how the game plays in Legends: Arceus. So it looks as if Pokemon been working on this idea for a long time now.
New trainers in this new game will have outfits that will match the game they are playing. Though, they will all get the chance to pick between three new Starter Pokemon. You can see each new Starter Pokemon below.

Whilst I do wish that they would have waited a little longer for Gen 9 and taken their time after legends so they could have implemented a better post-legends open world, I do think the game looks interesting. The art style will have to grow on me as at the moment I prefer SwSh's style and i'm not sure about the main character designs, but one thing I have to say is the starters are great. I'm definitely #teamfire. It is interesting how they seem to have broken the fire tradition of the chinese zodiac which fit for 8 generations but I guess they could do a snivy and turn it into a snake to fit i guess, we will have to see. I can totally see them becoming Grass/dark, Fire/Electric and Water/flying.

I do hope that they will populate the wild areas a little more. With legends it was quite empty but I feel that worked as it was meant to be ancient sinnoh before it was colonised, but with this being in modern day I feel they will need to add a bit more to the "wild areas" to make them feel more alive and fit into place. But I think it does have a lot of promise, I just hope Game Freak is able to deliver on the hype this time round, but with how Legends went, they might just do it.

Yeah, I agree, games getting released too early has been one of my big concerns considering many of them have that rushed kind of feel. While it coming out as messy as Cyberpunk 2077 and Battlefield 2042 is unlikely (CD Projekt Red did eventually get their act together but Dice and EA really screwed up BF 2042 beyond reclamation), I definitely value patience and perfection over sloppy speed. That said, as nice as Scarlet and Violet appear to be, I wouldn't be disappointed if the release date isn't in 2022 after all and waits until next year to really give the game that finished, polished state.

I also liked Sword and Shield quite a bit, so seeing them return to the same kind of style is welcome. This definitely looks like it'll be fun. :3

When it comes to development time, it is hard for me to say if this game is coming out too soon. We have no idea when this game was in development. From all we know, other teams were used to make Legends Arceus while the team that worked on SV was put to work on this game as soon as SwSh was done. If so, that is three years on one game.

It also looks as if the idea of an "open world" game has been on Pokemon's mind for a long while. SwSh could have been a testing idea on certain things. They then up it in the SwSh DLC and then it was upped again in Legends Arceus. My guess is that SV is going to take that idea even further to give us Game Freak's idea of open world.

Though, the two things that I like the best is...

    1) We can hopefully go back to gyms. I am tired of throwing balms at Pokemon as I run for my life. Legends Arceus did a cool thing in mixing up the formula but I want my gyms back and less looking over my shoulder for the next Pokemon that will eat my liver.

    2) No real pick for Starter yet but I like Fuecoco on just name alone. Spanish for Fire and coco as in Spanish for crocodile. Pretty cute.

While I loved SwSh. I do hope there are things they remove and some the add back (or even new things they add). I'm totally excited to see Gen 9 revealed, but I do hope they take their time making these. I don't wanna see a Pokémon game flop just because it was rushed to get out for the Holiday season.

I agree too. I hope they go back to the gym/gym badge system. Was really not a fan of the Alolan challenge thing. Ugh, gen 7 is my absolute least favorite in the series.

If I were to choose a starter right here and now. Sprigatito without a doubt. XD

    The time is upon us...
