The theme for this summer is Gratitude!

The latest details regarding Pokémon GO Fest 2022 have been released! After hinting at it with the logo’s release earlier this year, the latest teaser has confirmed that the Mythical Pokémon Shaymin will be the main ticket item for this event. For the Play Where You Are event on June 4th and 5th, it will introduce Shaymin Land Forme to the game. It is accessed through a ticket costing $14.99 which gives you access to both this event and the finale event in August. From there, we have details of the individual days itself, including what Pokémon will be available, as well as some speculation for some potential party crashers to the event.
Day 1

Regardless of ticket holder status, all players will be able to find a variety of Pokémon in the following habitats that will be rotating for the duration of the event.

  • City: Alolan Grimer, Baltoy, Bronzor, Gothita, Golett, Hitmonchan, Litten, Magnemite, Pidove, Trash Cloak Burmy, Trubbish
  • Plains: Buizel, Drilbur, Dunsparce, Girafarig, Larvitar, Litleo, Numel, Patrat, Rufflet, Shelmet, Trapinch
  • Rainforest: Binacle, Chimchar, Karrablast, Mudkip, Rowlet, Seedot, Shroomish, Skrelp, slakoth, Turtwig, Venipede
  • Tundra: Bergmite, Cubchoo, Meditite, Omanyte, Piplup, Popplio, Spheal, Swinub, Vanillite, Wailmer and Wingull

Additionally, the following Pokémon will appear in Incense in each Habitat:

  • City: Galarian Weezing, Klink, Unown (GOUB)
  • Plains: Axew, Torkoal, Unown (GOUB)
  • Rainforest: Pancham, Tropius, Unown (GOUB)
  • Tundra: Galarian Darumaka, Galarian Mr. Mime, Unown (GOUB)

Shiny Shroomish, Shiny Numel, Shiny Karrablast, Shiny Axew and Shiny Shelmet will be added to the game with this event. Ticket holders will have a higher chance to getting shiny Pokémon via incense. There will also be a Global Challenge Arena that will be available to all players. Ticket holders will get a branched Special Research that features Land Forme Shaymin. Players pick between Relaxed, Standard and Master difficulty as well as Catch, Explore and Battle focus with different sticker rewards. Pikachu will also appear in a Shaymin inspired costume throughout the duration of the event, players will give nine free raid passes for spinning gyms, and you will get a surprise with five snapshots for both days.
Day 2

For Day 2, all of the previously listed Pokémon will be available once again. Additionally, the Global Challenge Arena will continue. An as of yet unannounced Pokémon will appear in 5 Star raids, alongside Axew appearing in 1 Star raids. Ticket Holders will get a second Special Research Story and will encounter Team GO Rocket Balloons more often as well as receive double Mystery Components for completion.
Speculation

As of right now, there’s not many details with regards to Day 2 of the festivities. Though, if past festivals are anything to go by, we can expect some sort of surprise during that day. Players were quick to note that the Unown letters appearing during the event are “GOUB”. While the letters G and O are nothing unusual, the inclusion of U and B has led some fans to believe that we can expect the long awaited debut of Ultra Beasts on the second day of the festival, and that the second special research story, the Pokémon appearing in Tier 5 raids, as well as the appearance of Team GO Rocket all likely have something to do with that. I also have to wonder if the second special research may have something to do with Shaymin’s Sky Forme and if that could possibly be incorporated into the event somehow. Perhaps it’s something akin to the Pokémon Ranger games where Shaymin helps you fight against the bad guys? It’s all very speculative at this point.
Considering how both the Alola region and Shaymin in particular have been royally snubbed by Pokémon GO for years now, I for one am very excited to see one or both of these potential debuts in the future. It’s time for all these lovelies to get their due, and you can bet that I’ll be buying a ticket this year for the first time since I started playing Pokémon GO six years ago.
But what do you think? Do you have any theories as to what we can expect from the coming festival? Are you excited for the debut of Shaymin? Let us know!
