    I still use Windows 2000!

Some of us have technological items that we have that are considered "obsolete" by today's standards. Whether we use them is another issue-sometimes, we stick to using things that we've been using for many years, even though most people aren't anymore.

What technology-related items do you have that are considered to be obsolete today? How often do you use them?

I have quite a few things around the house that are considered obsolete by today's standards. One of those things that I use most are corded landline phones. I also carry a flip cellphone on me when I go out, thought I don't make very many calls on it, plus it's a pre-paid phone.

Other items of note falling under this category, which I don't use all that often are:
*a Windows 95 OSR2 PC (Compaq Presario 2240), which I run occasionally to relive the memories of when Windows 9x was mainstream.
*a radio/8 track/3 speed record player set, plus a collection of LPs, a bunch of 45 RPM singles and EPs, and even some 78 RPM records, which I play on occasion, and even have some of them digitally transferred.
*a VHS VCR, which I now use solely to transfer my VHS tapes to digital formats and burn to DVD.

Whooooo I'm not the only one on here who has a flip phone!

I have the following "obsolete" devices:

    - A 2009 MacBook running Snow Leopard (10.6.8). I'm planning to upgrade my OS to El Capitan at some point, but I've been afraid of losing my data so I've been holding back :c Someday I'd like a new computer, but I don't have too many problems with this one!

    - Some Dell laptop that runs Windows Vista. I only use it to play video games (namely Touhou) and for emergencies. The thing runs suuuuuper slow and I have to have it hooked up to a monitor and plugged in. It also overheats pretty quickly and occasionally makes a loud, obnoxious beeping sound if turned on, so I keep it off most the time.

    - A VCR player; I acidentally got this for free along with an older box-shaped TV (one from the late 90's/early 2000's). I only have a few VHS tapes on me at this time, but my dad probably still has many recorded Pokémon, Digimon, and old Disney cartoon episodes (not to mention some older movies/Pokémon episodes on VHS), so I may inherit those. Hell, my dad is the only person I know offline who uses a VCR/DVR combo to record things on VHS tapes.

    - As I previously mentioned, a flip phone; one that looks pretty much like this. My mom/stepdad live below the poverty line, so they can't afford smartphones or a good phone plan. Not a big deal, though, since I don't really use my phone much.

    - A GBA SP, DS Lite, and Gamecube. All Nintendo products that, to my knowledge, no longer have games being produced for them. I probably would've rid myself of the SP if it didn't have a half dead screen. Both the DS Lite and Gamecube still serve some purpose (e.g., I can play GBA games on the Lite and trade between Gen. IV/V Pokémon games, and I can play all my GC games), so perhaps they're not as obsolete.

    - A PS2 and PSP. Again, consoles that no longer have games being produced for them. (I -think- the occasional PSP game is released, but only in Japan. Not too certain.) In fact, the more recent consoles have started selling the games via PSN or, in some cases, as physical copies for the newer systems. My PSP is especially obsolete because the charger broke and I haven't been able to acquire a new one. My PS2 is definitely much less obsolete, as it serves as a gaming system AND a DVD player, which is pretty sweet.

tl;dr, my devices still work pretty well and have some use, hence why they're "obsolete" and not obsolete.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! You use Windows 2000?!?! Kudos to you! xD That would drive me crazy. I have too many games to play that would be incompatible.

I still play the Wii/GC at times, although not often. Other than that, I don't think I have much that's obsolete. I mean, I still use the PS3, but I don't consider that obsolete... though it's obviously old compared to the PS4.

That was just a creative thread title, a la what Palamon does. I do, though have a VirtualBox virtual machine with that operating system that I run occasionally. (Probably should have added a disclaimer in that regard.)

Another one I forgot to mention is that I still have a Nintendo 64, with three games that I play every once in a while.

Right. xD I wasn't sure. I thought you were giving an example, haha. But interesting! Ah yes, the classic N64. I know someone who still plays her SNES version of Mario Kart... xD

I have all the old Pokemon games and Nintendo consoles (starting from Gameboy Color and N64). I still play Pokemon Stadium/Snap on N64 sometimes, and I use my GBA SP when playing old Gameboy games, but don't use them much aside from that.

I have a CD/tape player and VHS/DVD player in my room that I guess is kind of obsolete now. xD I don't really use them very often at all. And I just got rid of my tiny, fat analogue TV because they turned off analogue signals here haha.

Somewhere we have an old computer running MS DOS that my dad got from work like 20 years ago. I used to play floppy disk games on it like Commander Keen and Touch Typing (which isn't a game but okay xD). I haven't tried using it in ages, especially since I got Keen on my new laptop now. :D

I still have my old GBA which I occasionally pull out. I need to find my Pokemon Emerald game though. I have FireRed in it currently.

The biggest one would be CDs. I love collecting them. So much more fun having physical copies of the music. But a lot more work, as I rip two copies. One as MP3 and one as apple lossless to put on my phone. The files are 10x the size but uncompressed so it sounds amazing.

Hey, if you think that's bad, some of my work colleagues still run Windows 98. OTL

    My wonderful Macbook Pro, that I do everything on, is a 2010 model. It works just fine for the most part, although I've had to replace the charging adapter twice, and upgrade the RAM. It just gets a little choked when I try to run all the intense graphics programs, or try to play games. I was considering upgrading to a Surface Pro 4, the only thing I don't particularly love is the fact it runs Windows only. ;n;

I still have my Gameboy COLOR and Gamecube! And, well, pretty much every console under the sun. xD

I wouldn't really consider CDs obsolete, though. At least not yet. I still buy all the albums from my favourite bands to play in the car. <3
