Hard time getting used to the new name

Every so often, a company, product, or even a forum user will change its name. In many cases, the majority of us will get used to the previous name, that it's hard for us to adjust to the new name. Sometimes, long after such a name change, one will continue to refer to that entity under its former name.

What are some entities that have changed their name in your lifetime that you still frequently use the former name of?

Whether I use a company, product, or forum member's old name long after a name change depends on whether the old name sounds better to me.
Among the previous names I still frequently use are:
    • S. C. Johnson & Son, which currently bills itself in advertising as "S. C. Johnson - A Family Company", to me, will always be "S. C. Johnson Wax".
    • I often still think of Fiat Chrysler as "Chrysler Corporation" (the original name of the company before its 1998 merger with what was then Daimler-Benz).
    • I frequently refer to Michigan utility giant Consumers Energy under its pre-1997 name of "Consumers Power".

Otter Mii-kun would be the only one to understand this or anyone from our area....

DTE Energy Music Theater = Pine Knob

I still call it Pine Knob because that's what I grew up calling it.

By that same extension, I remember having a hard time adjusting to Flint's IMA Sports Arena being renamed "Perani Arena" and most recently "Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center". I still keep thinking it's Perani Arena at times.

To get even more local, I still am tempted to call Lapeer Community Schools' Center for Innovation "Lapeer West" and the current Lapeer High School "Lapeer East". I know quite a few other people do this same thing also. Another school that I sometimes call by its former name in the area is Lapeer County Ed-Tech being called "Lapeer County Vo-Tech."
I also am still stuck on calling the now-Genesee Career Institute "Genesee Area Skill Center" and "Skill Center" (which I went to during my junior and senior years at LakeVille).

The network abc changed its name to Freeform, which always gets me. Like, it's been abc since like, forever - why change it now? I mean, I'm sure there's a reason and all, but I can never remember to call it Freeform! That's really the only example I can think of LOL.

Oh man I hate when people change their usernames xD I get really used to them. I only stopped calling @Rival Max "Dredd" like this year even though he's been Max for ages. Just when I started calling him Max, he wanted to change it again XD

Also every time I mention @Neo Emolga or search for his name I always write Neo Pikachu first. I don't even realise I'm doing it xD

I'm not as bad with companies and products, I guess. But usernames are like names to me so it seems weird to start calling people by other names!

But I've been using "Neo Emolga" for five years now! :P

Nah, it's alright, because I was using "Neo Pikachu" for eight. And ironically, I switched to Neo Emolga on April Fool's Day of 2011, which doubly threw off people because they thought I'd be changing it back when April Fool's was over! XD

    Which reminds me...

    HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!

Okay, all that fun fluff aside, there were a few times when companies changed names. I remember back quite a few years ago, New Jersey Bell became Bell Atlantic, which then became Verizon not too long after. Took a little getting used to, but it wasn't too bad.

But yeah, sometimes username switches take a little getting used to, also.

When talking about Freeform, I'm assuming you're actually talking about ABC Family and not the over-the-air American Broadcasting Company network. Speaking of Freeform: I remember when that channel was called "Fox Family"-I saw numerous promos about it on Fox Kids back in the late 1990s (Fox/NewsCorp had acquired what was once The Family Channel from Pat Robertson/IFE* in 1998.)

*N.B.: The reason why Freeform and the previous names the channel went by runs The 700 Club daily is because of a clause in the initial sale contract that CBN put in when The Family Channel was sold to Fox, giving the channel a perpetual contract to run CBN programs including The 700 Club, which carried over when Fox sold Fox Family to ABC. This also means that 700 Club will remain for as long as the channel exists, no matter who owns it or whatever it's named in the future.

I remember back quite a few years ago, New Jersey Bell became Bell Atlantic, which then became Verizon not too long after. Took a little getting used to, but it wasn't too bad.
I remember my immediate area getting phone service from GTE (General Telephone), which then merged with the aforementioned Bell Atlantic to form Verizon. Eventually, in 2010 Verizon sold my state and 12 others to Frontier. I was stuck on calling the service "Verizon" for a bit of time after that sale was completed. (Speaking of Frontier, they also took over Florida, California, and Texas from Verizon as of today-thought I'd make note of this.)
