Asriel is also a combination of Asgore and Toriel. Asgore's name is an anagram for "Sage or Murderer" or "Aegros Muderer". Aegros Murderer actually means "Reluctant Murderer."
Papyrus is a font, W.D. Gaster stands for Wing Din Gaster or Wingding Aster, with Wingdings and Aster being fonts. Chara is short for Character. I have no clue about Frisk and am too lazy too look. Undyne is a corruption of Undine a mythical sea monster species. And Napstablook is supposed to sound similar to Napster Bloke because of his love of music.
See, it's easy to see where this game gets its massive appeal. Great soundtrack, great gameplay, high number of choice-dependent outcomes and endings, great humor, captivating storyline and lovable characters, and SO MANY hidden extras, Easter eggs, and secret things like these buried into it. Seriously, you'd think some of the big-budget major game developers would take notes on stuff like this.
This is what the wiki said about Frisk's name:
To "Frisk" means to skip or leap playfully, or to pat down on someone, looking for a hidden item. "Frisk" is the Swedish and Norwegian word for "healthy," and the Danish word for "fresh." "Frisky" means "playful and full of energy."
I DIDN'T KNOW A THING ABOUT THOSE ANAGRAMS WHAAAAAAT THE?! *mind blown*
The time is upon us...
. Pika Pair with the yellow bundle of fluff Chibi Altaria..
Wow all those hidden name meanings are really cool. Especially the Asriel one. :O
I still feel sorry for Asriel since his name is a combination of his parents' names. Shame on you Asgore for not learning how to come up with names.
