This is no time to monkey around, Zarude is coming!
The newest Pokémon movie, Pokémon the Movie: Secrets of the Jungle, is releasing globally on Netflix on October 8, 2021. And to celebrate, the Rogue Pokemon, Zarude will be featured in limited-time Special Research in Pokémon GO. As long as you log into the game during the time frame and activate the research, you can complete it at any time to receive the rewards.
The Mythical Pokémon, first discovered in the Galar region, was the focus of some controversy recently. Previously, the only way to obtain Zarude was by redeeming an emailed code into Pokémon Sword or Shield. However many people did not receive the code despite being subscribed to the newsletter for years. Wether this event was designed to save face and give more people the chance to acquire Zarude is yet to be seen. But I’m happy for all those folks who missed out as they now have a chance to get one for themselves.

- Limited-time Special Research to encounter Zarude all while helping Professor Willow learn about this Dark- Grass-Type Mythical Pokémon.
- Encounter Pokémon related to the move such as: Hoothoot, Combee, Drilbur, Cottonee, Dwebble, and more. Lucky trainers may even encounter a Larvitar.
- Explorer Pikachu is back, appearing once again, in the wild. And if you are lucky, you might even encounter a Shiny.
Raids
- One-Star Raids: Explorer Pikachu, Larvitar, Roggenrola, Foongus, and Rufflet who can be shiny.
- Three-Star Raids: Lickitung, Chansey, Pinsir, Ludicolo, and Flygon.
Bonuses
- Jessie and James are back. Keep an eye out for them in your snapshots, and watch for their Meowth Balloon.
- Get themed Field Research tasks from PokéStops that’ll lead to encounters with Audino and Rufflet with that shiny possibility!
- New free avatar items will be available in the Style Shop, including the Adventure Hat and the Wailmer Water Bottle.
