Niantic Suspends Service in Russia

Niantic joins other major companies, pulling their products from Russian consumers.

Earlier this week, Niantic tweeted that their games will no longer available for download and that gameplay would also be suspended in Russia and Belarus. “We stand with the global community in hoping for peace and a rapid resolution to the violence and suffering in Ukraine,” Nianctic Labs stated.

This is in response to a handful of other companies that are cutting services in that area. Pepsi, Coca-Cola, Apple, Samsung, McDonald’s, Visa, MasterCard, Google and Netflix are just some of the giants that have cut ties with Russia.

In possibly unrelated news, a new Twitter account @PokemonGOAppTR has popped up to announce that Turkey will be the newest county to receive the game. “Familiar faces, our streets, brand new adventures… Pokemon GO is now in Turkey!

It’s very exciting that Pokémon fans in Turkey get to play with the rest of us. I wish them much shiny luck and lots of fun.

See you around, Genesect!
