It looks as if Pokemon GO is going to Mega Evolve in September!

Last week we saw Mega Evolution introduced into Pokemon GO. Now to get more people mega hyped into the new mechanic, Pokemon GO is introducing an event. This event will take up all of September and thus has Mega Evolve the month into Mega September!

Each week during the month of September will have a new challenge that will bring plenty of Mega Pokemon to Pokemon GO! Below is each challenge that you can expect during Mega September.

Complete Two Million Mega Raids to Unlock…Mega Pidgeot!

The first of the three challenges will give players the chance to unlock Mega Pidgeot in Pokemon GO. Players will need to battle in as many Mega Raids as possible if they want the chance to evolve their Pidgeot into Mega Pidgeot. There will be plenty of Mega Raids to complete during this week as players rush to Mega Evolve!

This challenge will start on Tuesday, September 1st, 2020, at 8AM to Monday, September 7th, 2020, at 10PM local time. If you are interested in catching Shiny Pokemon then keep a lookout for Shiny Lotad!

Below are the features for this challenge.

  • There will be an increased number of Mega Raids.
  • There will be an increased attack bonus from friends in raids.
  • Event-exclusive Field Research focused on raid-related tasks will be available for a limited time
  • You can receive Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise by completing limited event-exclusive Field Research tasks.
  • The following Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Abra, Magnemite, Exeggcute, Rhyhorn, Tangela, Electabuzz, Omanyte, Aerodactyl, Murkrow, Treecko, Torchic, Lotad, and Roselia.
  • If you’re lucky, you may even run into a Shiny Lotad!

Complete 275 Million Battles to Unlock…Mega Houndoom

The next Pokemon that you can unlock is Mega Houndoom! This Pokemon from Johto has the chance to Mega Evolve but only if you put in the battles to do it! Players are going to be encourage to use their Mega Pokemon in battles at Gyms, against Team GO Rocket and Trainer Battles outside of GO Battle League. If 275 million battles are done then they can evolve their Houndoom into Mega Houndoom.

This challenge starts on Friday, September 11th, 2020, at 8AM to Thursday, September 17th, 2020, at 10PM local time. Those hunting Shiny Pokemon can expect to see Shiny Ledyba in the wild.

Features for this challenge include the below.

  • It’s all about Mega Beedrill! You can receive Beedrill Mega Energy by completing event-exclusive Field Research tasks. When you use Mega Beedrill in Gym battles, Team GO Rocket battles, and Trainer Battles (excluding GO Battle League battles) during the event period, it’ll receive a temporary CP boost!
  • You can receive Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise by completing limited event-exclusive Field Research tasks.
  • The following Bug-type Pokémon will appear more frequently in the wild: Caterpie, Weedle, Paras, Venonat, Scyther, Pinsir, Ledyba, Spinarak, Wurmple, Kricketot, and Burmy.
  • We’re getting word that Team GO Rocket will be using different Shadow Pokemon during this event as well! Be sure to Mega Evolve Beedrill before you take on Team GO Rocket!
  • Be on the lookout for raid and battle-focused Timed Research during this event!
  • If you’re lucky, you might encounter a Shiny Ledyba!

Complete Mega-Evolution Timed Research for an Extra Treat During Halloween

Lastly, the final challenge is to completing a Mega Evolution Timed Research. If you complete this Timed Research then you will receive a spooky and exclusive Timed Research during this year’s Halloween Event featuring Mega Gengar. Though, you will also have the chance to see some pretty big Pokemon!

This Timed Research will start on Tuesday, September 22nd, 2020, at 8AM to Monday, September 28th, 2020, at 10PM local time. You may even see Shiny Doduo!

Below are the features for this event.

  • Spend more time with your Mega-Evolved buddy! Mega-Evolved Pokémon will stay in their Mega-Evolved form for three times longer, increasing from four hours to 12 hours.
  • Poffin duration will double during the event.
  • Pokémon that are large in size will be appearing more frequently in the wild, including Doduo, Alolan Exeggutor, Pinsir, Lapras, Snorlax, Furret, Wobbuffet, Mantine, Skarmory.
  • If you’re lucky, you might encounter Shiny Doduo!
  • Find Pokémon that are large in size in raids throughout the event!
  • There will be an increase in Beedrill Mega Energy received from Field Research.
  • You can receive Mega Energy for Venusaur, Charizard, and Blastoise by completing limited event-exclusive Field Research tasks.
  • Be sure to take a #GOsnapshot with your Mega-Evolved buddy! You might even have a surprise encounter with a Pokémon of the same species!
  • Complete the Timed Research during this event for a chance to unlock an exclusive Timed Research during this year’s Halloween Event that features Mega Gengar for the first time in Pokemon GO!
