PokeNatomy Art Series Takes You Inside a Pokemon

Artist Christopher Stoll is the brilliant mind behind PokeNatomy – a series of detailed, anatomical drawings of Pokemon, with descriptions explaining how real-life biology concepts can be applied to our favorite monsters.
Christopher uses an obviously impressive knowledge of real-life anatomy and physiology to describe how Charmander can regulate its tail flame, why Bulbasaur’s bulb may be essential for its survival, and how Voltorb may be formed – from Pokemon that have been left abandoned in Pokeballs! Pretty cool idea, right?
Christopher will be releasing books of his PokeNatomy creations featuring all 150 original Pokemon in Spring this year. They can currently be preordered on his website. Check out some of the cool PokeNatomy Pokedex pages below.

Yaaaaaaaas, this is how realistic is done! Not freaking gross abominations which completely detract form the supernatural nature of pokemon species. Half the time, people just draw an animal which currently exists on our Earth as a "realistic" pokemon which is utter crap. xD And frankly they are always hideous. XD THIS is awesome, though. Sweet stuff, this person. :3

I also adore that he doesn't just assume that Rock types are composed of only rock. They couldn't be alive if this were the case. xD Same with the organic matter in voltorb--just awesome.

Pikachu ears aren't ears according to this guy, though?! Never thought of that before! xD

Okay, the whole origin of Voltorb is very clever and well-thought out.

This is biology done right. :3
