Search: Superplex Shopping Center West: (24b) Floors 3-4 (Surprises In Store, Timeless Masterpieces, Celestial Jewelry)
During the night hours, you can see the Superplex Shopping Center has closed down for the night, but you find a way to sneak in through the back via a maintenance hovertruck garage that has been left open. After navigating through the concrete hallways, you find the janitorial door that leads to the rest of the mall and you slip through unnoticed.

You then head to the Surprises In Store gift and card shop. After about thirty minutes of sweeping through the store's many shelves of knick-knacks, candy and chocolate arrangements, jewelry, and other similar gift items, you don't find anything that grabs your attention or seems suspicious.

The next store you investigate, Timeless Masterpieces, is an expensive art and sculpture store with many paintings, craftwork, and figurines that are of exceptionally high quality, but with exceptionally high price tags as well. It seems clear only Pokémon that make a high income would shop at a store like this, but it does have quite a selection of art that these kinds of Pokémon would be interested in.

In the back of the store is the clothing area, which seems to also have custom-made apparel for all kinds of Pokémon shapes and sizes, but of course with expensive fabrics and designer fashions. While none of what you see grabs your interest, behind them all seems to be a high-grade Kexar Security door. While initially it doesn't seem strange at first, you take a closer look and it seems like the lock mechanism has been tampered with. While the door lock is still engaged, you can't help but notice there is scuffing by the keypad, which seems highly unusual given how impeccable the rest of the store and merchandise is. It seems like it was very recent, making you begin to wonder if perhaps the Stalkers are involved.

As you take a closer look, without knowing the login credentials or the passcode, someone on the team is going to have to hack into the system and perform an administrator override in order to disengage this lock. And unfortunately, you just don't have the know-how on how to do that...

Locked Door {Kexar Security Door: <Science>} has been noted in the Team Records.

As a last sweep through, you investigate the Celestial Jewelry store, which also has a large selection of extremely rare and precious gemstones, necklaces, platinum holowatches, earrings, and other similar jewelry items that come with prices that would easily wipe out several months worth of income for most Pokémon. However, despite admiring the jewelry, you don't see anything that raises any alarms or suspicion.

You decide to head out back the same way you came in as the dawn soon approaches.

Gonna have to try hard to not tell him that he's a handful, though, if he is one.
During the night, you approach Udipheign at his home in the Brook Heights Apartment building, offering him protection from the Stalkers for the night. It seems he didn't expect you to arrive, but nonetheless, he nods as he hears you out when you explain that you want to protect him.

"You're offering to be my personal bodyguard?" Udipheign asked, a bit surprised. "Well, I'm not just going to refuse that, of course. Who refuses free protection? Only an imbecile, for sure, especially in these times. Well, I appreciate that I'll be sleeping easier tonight."

He decides to head off to sleep while you stand guard, making sure no harm comes to Udipheign tonight.

As you come upon the exterior of Macanan Textile Manufacturing, you reaffirm to yourself that your goal is to search floors 21 - 30. All you know about this place is what you heard from your teammates, which is little to nothing. However, you're confident that there's something towards the top of the building, and begin your journey to the twenty-first floor.

You chose to take the lift, so you arrive on the twenty-first floor fairly quickly. After searching its entirety, you conclude that nothing important resides here, so you continue heading up, floor by floor. Upon clopping your hooves onto the twenty-eighth floor, you immediately know that there's something wrong. Unlike the other floors you've searched, this one seems unused. You wonder if the twenty-seventh floor was the last floor in use, and that perhaps going up from here would result in empty floors. Focusing back on task, you begin to look around carefully. There's no light in here at all, but that's why you brought your headband which has a handy torch attached. Anything you look at will be illuminated, which is exactly what you're counting on.

As you continue through, it becomes more and more clear why this floor is not in use. It's filled with broken machinery and spare fabric, dyes, threads, and other materials that you guess are either out of style and no longer usable, or are faulty and were easier to throw up here for the time being. You question the owner's management in this department, but shelve the thought as you begin to feel drawn to the back of the floor. You sniff the air with your little nose, and to your surprise, you can smell something almost alluring. It's sweet but has a chemical undertone, like a perfume or cologne. You wonder if it's the smell of a particular dye used with specific fabric, but you begin to doubt that theory as you come upon a door leading to a small rectangular room. Beside the door is a dormant panel which you poke a hoof at, but it does nothing.

Then you step towards the door, and to your half-second horror, you hear a click.

All at once, you're struck in the side by a large projectile coming from the wall on your left. It bowls you over and you scramble to your hoofs, attempting immediately to flee, when you are struck again. You shriek with pain and fly to the ground, scraping along the uncleaned floor as fragments of broken boulder litter themselves across you and the surrounding floor.

Sam has suffered 2 points of damage to Health.

You manage to point your head at the wall where the projectiles are coming from, and shockingly, a third boulder begins to shoot your way. Your reflexes kick in at that exact second and you throw your back legs out, despite the searing pain biting at your left one, and shatter the oncoming rock into thousands of fragments. When no more rocks emerge from the mysterious cavity in the wall, you sigh and take a moment to lie on the floor before you get back up. Your entire left side, specifically your midsection and back, is pulsing with pain, but you're not done here yet.

You approach the tile again and slam a hoof down on it, dashing out the way afterwards. When nothing happens, you sigh, thankful that the trap seems to have subsided...for now, at least. You look back at the console and notice something you didn't see before: two conductors. You can recognise the colour of them both and conclude that one requires a Fire type, and the other requires a Ground type. You briefly consider inserting a rock fragment into the second one, but you rethink. That would signify Rock type.

Object {Type Conductors: +Fire Type+, +Ground Type+} has been added to the Team Records.

You're not quire sure if sustaining two points of damage was worth finding something you couldn't do anything to unlock, but it does make you more curious. Could the thing that Giphlin the Xatu mentioned be behind this door?

Like the crafty Zoroark you are, you head just east of the city centre until you arrive at the Superplex Shopping Center East. Using your sly skills, you slink directly to the 5th floor, but you don't find what you're looking for. You ascend one floor and smile as you see a banner reading "You Remembered!" Gift Store sitting atop a typical store with a wide glass wall. You realise that the gem you're after isn't in the front window like Pasco the Jigglypuff told Guzma, but it would make sense; the shop owner would likely pack up valuables and secure them in a back room.

You sneak into the shop after disarming the lock with your security knowledge and blend with the darkness, heading right to the back of the store. You spot the staff room, which you easily get into, and cast your gaze about the room. It would be foolish of you to flick on the lights because there might be a security camera in this room, but as a Dark type, you have exceptionally good eyesight at night. Even though you could wipe the footage clean if you wanted to, it's best to get in, steal the gem, and get back out.

Secured in a small glass casing, you can see the ruby gemstone which appears to be glittering despite not being subject to any light source. You find this peculiar at first, but something within you tells you that this makes sense the closer you get, as if the gemstone emanates some sort of mystical aura. You feel that without this aura, the gemstone would be just a common jewel, but this one is different. You can feel that it's special. Oddly, nothing about it seems to unsettle you or instigate negativity; in fact, it seems to do quite the opposite. It seems to fill you with hope.

You snap out of your momentary trance and focus on the glass case once more, nearing it to inspect its alarm system. Carefully you work your magic, and in less than a minute, you manage to disarm the alarm. You feel relief wash through you and then a surge of excitement as you open the glass door and slide a red-clawed paw in, taking up the ruby gem. The second it touches you, a strange presence fills you with a powerful sense of faith. You feel empowered, unstoppable, and extremely positive. You've never felt anything like this before, but you could definitely get used to it.

Item [Gem of Hope] was added to the Team Inventory.

Deciding that getting out of the store as soon as possible would be best, you shut the glass door and sneak out of the room, setting everything back how it was before you entered. As you walk away from the store, you have a feeling that you should conceal this priceless stone so that nobody spots you with it on your journey to the team clubhouse. You do just that, concealing it within your giant maroon mane as you walk out of the shopping complex.

    119. Fleck the Masquerain has been murdered by the Stalkers.

Location: A few blocks from Coldon Apartments.
Cause of Death: Repeated torture until the point of death.

Pormalu arrived on the scene first, accompanied by his mate and the police force's Deputy Director, Sequintia. Police had received a call in the early hours of the morning, when most Pokémon were still sleeping. Fern was covering night shift as she often does, and upon hearing who the Stalkers' victim was, she felt the need to tell Pormalu herself. She contacted him immediately and he wasted no time in getting to the scene of the crime.

Fleck the Masquerain had been repeatedly beaten with various objects, both blunt and sharp. Gashes and bruises covered every milimetre of her body, from her large eye-like antennae to the wings on the side of her body. Strapped to her face was a disturbing mask with grotesque features. It was lined with gold and silver, and appeared to be very expensive. Carved into one of her wide antennae was the word AVARICE.

Pormalu knelt down on one front leg, shaking his head as he sealed his eyes shut. Sadness overcame him, rendering him unable to think, breathe or speak for a moment.

"I'm...I'm so sorry, Porm," Sequintia breathed, standing beside her mate as she watched paramedics take the body away. "I know she was dear to you."

"I just...can't believe this happened..." He trailed off, shaking his head again. "When she didn't come back from running her errands this morning, I didn't anticipate...a-anticipate..." He tried to steady his breathing, and suddenly his face contorted into one of contempt. "She didn't deserve this. Fleck was the kindest, most gentle Pokémon I knew. To think that she was..." His voice hitched in his throat, and he cut himself off.

Sequentia, too, felt tears tug at her eyes. "She was the best damn maid...and one of the best people I knew." The Pyroar wanted to be angry as well, but all she felt was sadness. "We'll...we have to take care of Haime."

Pormalu was silent for several seconds as he considered Fleck's elementary school-aged only child, now an orphan, and her reaction, her fate, and the impact it was going to have on her. She had nowhere else to go, and she already lived at Pormalu and Sequintia's estate...as did her mother. He finally rose to his paws wearing an expression betraying sorrow. "I would not have it any other way."

Sequentia signalled for the other present police officers to take over the crime scene investigation, knowing that neither she nor her mate would be able to conduct an effective investigation under the current circumstances.

As she walked her mate to their police hovercar, she felt an overwhelming feeling of fear. She wished she could forget the thought she had just considered, but there was no possible way to ignore it.

    Who would tell Haime?
