You head toward the southern area of Southwarren to find Lexin's House, an almost rectangular home that looks like it could use a little housekeeping. You can easily see from the exterior that Lexin either doesn't have the time or doesn't have the care to tidy it up. It also seems like Vendy the Weavile, who rents the basement apartment, isn't very concerned with the state of the yard and exterior either.

You search around the exterior first. There are dead weeds here and there, some cracks in the walls of the building, and it seems the patio hasn't been swept for years. The outside windows look like they haven't been cleaned in a long time either.

Along the side of the house, you find something a bit peculiar. It looks like some kind of metallic rod, which you think might have just been a spare part or a piece of the house that fell off until you take a closer look and can sense the slightest trace of Stalker presence surrounding it. You pick it up, take a closer look, and see that a crude image of an eye seems to have been scratched into the base of the rod itself. You decide to hold onto it and take it with you.

Item [Eye Rod] has been added to the Team Inventory.

You then decide to check out the interior, keeping in mind to make as little noise as possible to avoid waking Lexin and Vendy up in the middle of the night as you perform your search.

As you can tell, Lexin, even as the police chief, never takes his work home with him. The inside of his house reflects the outside as well. The floors haven't been cleaned in a while, some of the tables and piles of papers and magazines on them are dusty, and a little vacuuming would go a long way to remove the debris and bits of dirt and tiny pebbles on the wooden floors.

While you explore Lexin's area of the house, you realize Lexin has a bit of a geeky side to him. He has a lot of computer equipment upstairs, has collections of tech magazines, and has heaps of books on programming and software development.

You then head into the upstairs bathroom and find Lexin hasn't cleaned this out in a while either. It doesn't seem too odd until you find something else, flung into the corner and seemingly forgotten. You pick it up and realize it's a white candle, which seems strange at first until you realize it must have belonged to Lexin's wife before she divorced him. It looks like the kind of thing that would have made a shared bath a bit more romantic, but as you can easily see, those days are over. You figure Lexin probably doesn't even like looking at it and even then, you can't help but feel there may be some use for this later on. You decide to take it with you.

Item [White Candle] has been added to the Team Inventory.

After, you search the basement level and look through the area that Vendy rents out. Vendy seems to be a little bit more tidy with her living area, especially with her kitchen. Her kitchen seems almost spotless and she seems to have a passion for cooking. Meanwhile, you notice she works at Axlin Chemicals. Her employee badge makes it pretty obvious. Beyond her small living room area and her bedroom, you don't really find anything too out of the ordinary.

Satisfied with what you have found, you decide to head back to base before the dawn arrives.

    To rescue the books
You decide to head to the western side of town and check out the Anclyne Public Library, which seems extra creepy considering it's been abandoned for a while. The outside of the brown-stone building has seen much better days, also. It looks like it's slowly falling apart and you feel in a few more years, the parts of it might even start collapsing.

You search around the outside and you have a bad feeling about this place's mold issues and maybe this is the real reason why no one goes here anymore. Some kind of strange, foreign fungus that's like foam in shape and texture and has a light brown color has been eating away at the outside woodwork. And after looking at how it has grown around the building, you have a feeling it likely only gets much worse inside. Besides age and being victim to the elements, you don't really find anything significant about the outside.

You head inside and you realize your mission to save the books might be too late. The moldy foam fungus has swarmed over entire shelves of books and is all over the walls and ceiling, creating a musky, foul-smelling odor. You estimate only about 10% of the books haven't been at least somewhat eaten away by the fungus. While some shelves just have a little bit, there are a few that don't even look like bookshelves anymore and look like they've been completely coated by large mounds of it.

The only areas of the library that haven't been affected yet seem to only be for references and a small portion of the nonfiction area that seems to only cover law, taxation, and politics. Even after just flipping through a few pages of one of these books, you're pretty much convinced this dry and boring material for reading might as well be fungus food anyway.

You almost give up finding anything of value in this place before coming to one area that looks like someone actually might have been here recently. There are some areas where it looks like something just outright sucked the life out of the fungus and killed it, leaving blackened, dead, powdery remnants of it that almost look like soot. You follow these trails before they take you to what looks like some office room that was being eaten away by the fungus before whatever did this wave of death came along. You find the wooden door nearly crumbled away like peanut brittle and has already fallen off its hinges. You step inside and what you see next shocks you a bit.

It seems to be a stone altar with what looks like a Grumpig lying on his back. But something seems horribly wrong. It almost looks like the Grumpig is supposed to be some kind of sacrificial victim. At first, you almost think of trying to free him from the chains that are holding him down, but then when you look closer...

...you realize he's not normal. Parts of his flesh are missing and even the bones are showing in places. There's also dark ritual markings on his chest, indicating the parts that are supposed to be lacerated with something noted to be the "Dagger of Blood" to cause as much bleeding as possible. But you find no trace of any sacrificial dagger anywhere.

The Grumpig suddenly jolts and becomes awake, kicking and jerking violently and feverishly while squealing with a grizzly and macabre wail. It almost seems like something, maybe even the fungus, has rendered him into some zombie-like state. His eyes are completely cloudy and white while he quickly begins foaming at the mouth like some kind of rabid animal.

Objective {Unfinished Sacrifice: Ritual of Blood} has been noted in the Team Records.

You decide to leave before someone hears the squealing. It seems as though you're not sure where this Dagger of Blood is... or even you're even ready to use it quite yet...

You arrive before the large, black Axlin Chemicals building in the middle of the night. Even when the plant isn't in full operation, the odor in the air still lingers and seems to change on whim. Most of the odors aren't pleasant and the scents still seem to change every few minutes, especially as you go from floor to floor.

Inside, the plant is pretty well-maintained. You figure it was probably even a bit cleaner when there was more of a janitorial staff still around, but despite the situation, it still seems they keep things under control. It also seems like most of their equipment makes sure not a whole lot of messes are made from day-to-day mixing and heating.

On the second floor, you find a Cognos System electronic safe lock in one of the security areas. It seems like the other safe lockers haven't been used in a while, but someone has decided to use this one and you have a feeling whoever did has been using it to hide something only they're aware about. You can also tell from the scratching near the keypad that whoever has been using it wasn't acting normally and almost seemed to be in a frenzy of some sort. It strikes you as very suspicious and you have a strong hunch this may be evidence of Stalkers being here.

You take a closer look at the safe and knowing your skills in computer hacking, you're able to bypass the standard password prompt and bring up the system developer access module. Once there, you're able discern what steps are needed to override the system administrator password to disengage the electronic lock. It's going to need a little work, but we've already made great headway toward getting this open.

Objective: {Electronic Safe Lock: <Science>} has been noted in the Team Records.

You write the directions and necessary algorithms needed to hack the lock system on a piece of paper:

(It's like a word search puzzle with numbers ;) )

From here, you could either do this system hacking yourself, or you can hand it off to another Emissary to complete, but from here on in, your directions and algorithm logs have made it pretty straightforward.

You continue your search on the third floor, but you don't find anything too significant about this level besides more of the same. Most of the machinery still seems to be offline for now, but come morning, it will probably be another regular day at the plant.

You then decide to head back with your findings.

#59 Salsha the Sylveon has been murdered by the Stalkers.

Location: Western Square of Jekker Park
Cause of Death: Complete bodily destruction

The air was quiet, still, and gloomy in Jekker Park as the dawn was still a few hours from arriving. Jessy the Lycanroc had discovered the body only thirty minutes ago, and despite being bored enough to wander around at night, she really didn't want to linger around what she found. The police, on the other hand, didn't have much of a choice in the matter.

"I hate this one especially." Britera the Braixen spat as she looked at the mess that was left behind by an unknown Stalker on the cobbled stone path.

Britera wasn't thrilled about the aftermath of what this particular Stalker liked to leave behind. This one in particular liked to mash their victims into a gooey paste and as if that wasn't bad enough, they then made perverse sculptures with it like they were some deranged kid having fun with some macabre, fleshy clay. And this time around, Salsha the Sylveon's pasty remains had been used to sculpt an oversized buttocks with an unrealistic amount of manure gushing from the orifice. The fact that Salsha's brains were used for resembling the "manure" seemed to be completely intentional. The only way they were able to tell it was even Salsha the Sylveon was from the ribbons and from finding her wallet a short distance away from the bloody massacre.

"Yep, it's the work of 'Psycho Assfreak' again," Sten the Bellossom sighed as he realized he would have to take at least three dozen pictures of this grotesque display for the crime scene investigation. "I hate every one of these Stalkers with a passion, but I hate this particular jumping jackass so much it's unreal."

As Sten took pictures using his camera, Britera took notes about the surroundings and was reviewing Jessy's witness testimony. She was going to have to bring her in tomorrow for more questioning, but for now, she decided to get the information she needed while it was still fresh. Come tomorrow morning, Jessy could easily forget most of what she saw tonight and she couldn't afford to lose those critical details.

"Still can't believe we haven't figured out even just the name of this sicko, yet," Britera looked away. "But seriously, why kill Salsha? She was probably one of the last few in this town who actually still feels optimistic about things. Nothing they do makes sense. I just wanna punch this prick in the face and advocate for a capital punishment express lane."

"Good luck with that," Sten rolled his eyes as replied with a sigh. "Come on, I'm tired. Let's just get a box and clean up this mess. I didn't want to tell Lexin tonight that it was this asshat again. He'll find out first thing tomorrow morning anyway."

Britera nodded and looked back at the bloody, pasty mess. She wasn't happy to know they would end up burying Salsha in the equivalent of a lunchbox, but at least this perverse monstrosity of a sculpture would be undone.

Sam's Investigation on #1 Rancha the Breloom has been Completed.

After spending all day and all night tracking and staking out Rancha, you've learned quite a great deal about her. She happens to be the Town Overseer, which seems to be the equivalent of being the town mayor with a different title. Because of her role, she's wealthy enough to own her own house when she's not working at the Southwarren Administration building.

From reading her documents, you realize she's 39 years old. In watching her socialize both at work and at home, you realize she's definitely not the nicest Breloom to have ever lived. She's often very snippy with other Pokémon and wants things to be very precise. Her expectations are also very unrealistic in a very "I expected this to be done yesterday" kind of attitude. You have a feeling her position of power has gotten to her head and it has taken an ugly turn.

Rancha seems to love preferential treatment and seems to get annoyed when she doesn't get it. Her attitude seems to reflect a very "roll out the red carpet for me, because here I come" stance. When she's not busy working, she seems to enjoy hikes, but in a negative way, as if she thinks she can go wherever she wants like she owns it all.

Rancha has an absolute loathing for liars, cheaters, and thieves. Sure, every Pokémon doesn't like these, but she gets LIVID around these types of Pokémon even if she can sometimes be a liar and a cheater herself! It makes you wonder if she thinks she should be the only one allowed to cheat a lie. As a result, you have a feeling she's also a hypocrite in a "do as I say, not as I do" kind of way. As for hobbies, Rancha seems to like gardening, a seemingly innocent activity, though you wonder if her hunger for control over what grows where might have something to do with it.

Lastly, you also confirm that Rancha is the wife of Kexin the Sceptile, who you only know to be a doctor. He doesn't seem too nice either, but from watching Rancha, you feel the love relationship comes from them both gossiping about others and laughing behind the backs of who they interact with on a daily basis.

    #1 RANCHA THE BRELOOM

    Shift: Day
    Gender: Female
    Age: 49
    Home Location: (15) Ranch's House
    Workplace: (1) Southwarren Administration Building
    Profession: Town Overseer
    Traits: Snippy, particular, demanding
    Hits: Preferred Treatment, hikes
    Misses: Liars, cheaters, thieves
    Hobbies: Gardening
    Friendships: None
Relations: Wife of Kexin the Sceptile
Items: Rancha does not have any noteworthy items in her possession.
Taught Skills: Rancha is not a skill teacher.
Proficiency: Rancha does not have a perk.

    GENERAL CONCLUSION POST-INVESTIGATION
Despite her negative persona, you still feel that Rancha is most likely NOT a Stalker.

Sam's Investigation on #1 Rancha the Breloom has been noted in the Team Records.
