The City of Corpses

I run this RP along side the WAR RP for a few reasons. Primarily so that the other Role Players on PxR don't feel left out. Another is so that the WAR RPers won't be bored waiting for their chance to post again, and the posts won't be judged. Finally, because I've been meaning to post this. I realize Philosopher's Conquest is the first one, but I'm changing things up.

I'm big on having a theme song for my RPs. Generally it's something catchy and moderately relevant to the theme of the RP.

Back Story

In the year 1999, on the eve of the new millennium, the world waited in awe as some waited to celebrate, and others feared to die. A rumor spread across the planet the the dawning of a new millennium would cause a massive technological collapse which would cause systems to malfunction and unleash destructive terrors upon the human race. This didn't happen. However, the human race had no idea what was coming to them. For on January 1st, 2000. An infant was born in Brooklyn, New York. This infant's name was Jinzo Machina.

A year and nine months later, two towers were struck by airplanes, resulting in the deaths of thousands of people. Jinzo was playing with his rattle and watching TV with his mother when it hit the news. These images somehow managed to stick with him growing up. Exact numbers, body counts, the looks on the reporter's faces, and the general feel of absolute horror. Jinzo had a photographic memory, and these images warped his sanity.

Throughout his young life, Jinzo revisited those memories through his nightmares, constantly tossing and turning, awakening with violent shakes and chilling sweats. The boy was haunted by his own mind. His mother didn't think anything of it until it was a too late. By the time Jinzo was 12, he had developed a second personality. One that enjoyed torturing and hurting people and small animals. This eventually grew to just about anything that was alive.

That's when it happened. On Jinzo's 14th birthday, The Jinzo everyone knew and loved was out with his friends, Kenji Gazette and Onyx Steele. Kenji and Onyx were friends with Jinzo because they also had problems that made them different from the other teenagers. However, none of them knew just how different they actually were. Kenji, being the oldest at 18, was driving Jinzo and Onyx home from a concert. It was Kenji's gift to Jinzo, and Jinzo called it the best night of his life.. until it became the worst.

Kenji was distracted by a text on his phone, and despite Jinzo asking him not to text while driving, Kenji did it, anyways. Kenji ended up running a red light, and was hit from the passenger side by an oncoming car. Jinzo was in the passenger seat, not wearing his seat belt. The car itself managed to flip twice before coming to a halt.

Onyx, who was on Kenji's side, and wearing his seat belt, was the first one to come to. His head was pounding, and blood was trickling down from his left eyebrow. He managed to unfasten his seat belt, and crawl out of the shattered rear window. Paramedics immediately rushed over to him, who were on the scene in a matter of minutes. He looked around for his friends but everything was too blurry.

Kenji came to, next. He was on a stretcher about to be hauled into an ambulance, when he jolted conscious, and the paramedics had to wrestle him to to the stretcher until he calmed down. Kenji searched around in a state of panic as his car was totaled, and his friends were nowhere in sight. He was loaded onto the ambulance, and when he looked to his left, there he saw Jinzo. Completely unconscious, and clearly banged up from the crash.

Kenji closed his eyes and rested his forearm on his forehead.

"... S**t."

Plot

Weeks after the incident, Jinzo was considered comatose, and there was little chance he would ever come out of it. He said that they would put him on life support for as long as he was a minor. But after that, they'd have to pull the plug and let him die. Many people have visited him, and felt a heavy loss upon seeing his unconscious body. Though none took it harder than Kenji, Onyx, and his own mother.

What the world outside doesn't realize, is that Jinzo isn't comatose. He is fighting his other personality for control of his body. But the other Jinzo, Deus, fights dirty. he has summoned a legion to fight for him. A variety of twisted creatures, people, and entities which come from nightmares have appeared to do his bidding. However, Jinzo isn't alone either. The friends he has made, or the people he has met which have influenced him to be a great person are still in his heart, and in his mind. He has brought them forward to help him fight this evil.

Deus has made things more troublesome for Jinzo. For his persistence, he has made it to where these thoughts and manifests of his friends and allies have become spiritually entwined. Meaning that if these friends get injured inside of Jinzo's mind, they get injured in the real world without even actually knowing what's going on. Jinzo, however, has made it to where the pain will be of the mind, and not the body, and will suddenly make them remember Jinzo, so that their bond will be stronger, and they will become stronger in the fight against Deus. Jinzo's skill, however, drains his strength, and lessens his ability to retain control of his body.

This RP is split down the middle. Good vs Evil. You are either on the side of Jinzo Machina or Deus Machina. Your ultimate goal is to see one of them gain control over the the comatose body, by any means necessary. The only ones capable of gaining control of the body are Jinzo and Deus. So don't try anything funny you evil peoples. Also, if your character dies in Jinzo's dream state, they won't die in real life, however, they will feel a sharp pain in their heart that will cause them to become severely depressed for an extensive period of time. Since this isn't "Philosopher's Conquest," Deus isn't strong enough to actually kill people, yet.

Team Jinzo:

Your goal is to help Jinzo defeat Deus, and escape his evil clutches permanently. Bear in mind that the characters you portray are friends, or allies to Jinzo in the real world. So your back story needs to include how you met/know Jinzo. I will have examples with Kenji and Onyx. Your characters are also dreams, not the actual people. Although, thanks to Deus, the real world character will feel the pain of the dream character, so this needs to be implemented when it happens.

Team Deus:

Affectionately called Deus Ex Machina, Deus is the evil 2nd personality in Jinzo's mind and body. His goal is to take over and become the new Jinzo Machina. Deus believes he's been there since the beginning. Yet Jinzo pushed him away and made it all about him. So with Jinzo in a coma, He's set upon destroying Jinzo and finally being in control, permanently. You are his creation, you have your own will, your own minds and hearts, yet when Deus gives an order, it must be carried out or you will be erased.

Greed:

This entity is the embodiment of everything that Deus and Jinzo have ever taken withought giving something in return. He wishes the fighting would stop so that Jinzo could go back to obtaining "it all." This SIN prefers to remain out of the action. However this entity hits quite hard, so it is better to avoid it.

Lust:

This entity is very young. Yet, despite its youth, it is one of the most powerful entities of SIN for Jinzo. Given his age and his recent interest in women, Lust has become a very intense SIN in his life. While Lust is neutral, it feels drawn to Jinzo. This sin's power of seduction tends to work on men and women of all races. At this stage, a single kiss will drain the very life force of its victim.

Gluttony:

This entity speaks for Jinzo's endless desire to consume things. Be it love, punishment, food, or material things. This sin rivals Greed, and desires for the fighting to stop so the sin can continue to wreak havok in Jinzo's life. This sin perfers to stalk its victims, trap them, and drain their life force slowly.

Wrath:

This entity speaks for itself. It is the embodiment of every angry or hateful thought, feeling, or desire that has ever crept into the minds of Jinzo and Deus. While Wrath is generally neutral, it feeds on Deus's hatred and rage, and tends to side with him. This sin has a firey temper. If you make it angry, it will do everything it can to see you destroyed. The angrier this sin becomes, the stronger it gets.

Envy:
(This is the only entity who's appearance can't be altered, for it has to look like Jinzo. Being the thing both characters desire the most.)

This entity embodies everything Jinzo and Deus have ever desired or wanted, and feeds on their desire. This sin doesn't care if the fighting stops or ends, either way, their wants and desires will never stop. Envy prefers to avoid conflict. However, if tested, it will materialize your greatest desire, and turn it against you.

Pride:

Every accomplishment, every success, and every moment that Jinzo or Deus have proven to be too stubborn to allow or ask for help. This is what makes Pride. It has no quarrel in this fight, in the end there will be a winner, and this will fuel Pride. This entity doesn't back down from a challenge, and will do all it can to destroy its foes.

Sloth:

Ah, the lazy days. We all have them, and this is what feeds the Sloth. Every lack of concern, uncaring, unwilling moment in Jinzo and Deus's life. Sloth doesn't want to fight. Doesn't care if there's any fighting going on, If conflict is attempted with this sin, it will to all it can to force the conflict to be avoided. It will speak slowly, and make you feel tired, sluggish, and lazy. You won't want to fight. You won't care to fight.

Setting:

The City of Corpses is essentially Manhattan Island. Only without the bridges connecting to the mainland.. and without the mainland. That bustling city is now riddled with the bodies of people who have ever died in Manhattan since Jinzo's birth. Some have decayed into skeletons, some of them are children, some of them are sinister criminals, and some of them are celebrities. The only thing they all have in common, is that they're all very much up and moving around. If they are provoked they will attack you. If you provoke just one, you will set off a violent mob, at which point, you endanger everyone around you. The moment they are set off, they will become spiteful of the living, and attack anything that's still alive.

Considering the City of Corpses is technically part of the angriest city in America, provoking these corpses is as easy as looking at them the wrong way. So you will have to be mindful of your surroundings. This can prove useful in a tight situation, or fatal at the most inconvenient time. While you're in control of your character's fate, it would be best if you would treat this as if you yourself were there, surrounded by easily provoked zombies at any given time.

The water surrounding the city is polluted, and since blood is a factor throughout this city, you can bet that it's in the water. This attracts all of those fantastic carnivorous swimmers. So, if you're thinking of going for a dip, that might be something you want to consider. Just like Manhattan, there are several areas where food, weapons, first aid kits, and hospitals are located. Since you aren't invincible, you will need to consider these as the RP progresses. Survival is the key in the Role Play, so it's not so much a request as it is just a general rule of the RP. "Kill or be Killed." Welcome to the City of Corpses.

Rules

Yep, everyone's got them. I'm a strict rule follower on threads that are mine. So you'd better shape up in this RP, or I'll make you pay. <3

1. This RP is generally team based. The only exceptions are the SINs. So try working together if you really want to be on the winning side!
2. There is absolutely no possibility for "hostile take overs." So don't try it. Good guys are good, so there should be no need for it. Bad guys are created by Deus, so "God creates, and God destroys."
3. This is not a Pokémon RP. So don't ask.
4. Follow all forum and site rules to a tee. Of this rule I am the most strict. Make Roleplaying fun for everyone. If you have a problem with someone, you come to me about it.
5. This RP will involve intimacy (of the not-adult sort), violence, likely gore, and certainly death. If this bothers you, don't participate. Thank you.

I believe I have covered my bases. If you recall City of Corpses, I feel this is particularly better written. I look forward to seeing some sign-ups!

Powers: Zorayda is a friendly and extremely empathetic person. So deep does her empathy flow that in Jinzo's head, she could probably share his pain or take some of the burden of dealing with his own sins. However, this could backfire if she takes on too much, making her struggle with staying on Jinzo's side instead of Deus.

Appearance: 4'10" and still growing, at around 100 lbs. Zorayda's body hasn't quite filled in yet, but at fifteen, she is a tad more developed than other girls her age. She has pale skin, blonde hair, and forest-green eyes, with a smattering of freckles across her cheeks and nose. She doesn't really wear makeup at her age, yet, and sometimes gets self-conscious because she breaks out in acne easily. She normally wears her hair down in curly waves. Her smile is probably the prettiest part of her, with sculpted lips and pretty white teeth--but most of all, her smiles are always genuine. She generally just wears jeans and t-shirts with sandals. She also sports a pair of purple-framed, rectangular glasses.

CATFOLK FORM: Same shape and size, but her hair disappears and she becomes a humanoid-looking lioness. Her fur is a pale cream, her face a mix of human and animal. Her eyes retain their human color, but she gains claws and a tail. Her feet are digitigrade and therefore she wears no shoes.
Personality: Zorayda is a myriad of different things, but what people see right away is that she’s cheerful and very friendly. Some people would even call it annoyingly perky. She makes friends right away and is very helpful and kind. She also has a knack for seeing the bright side of things, which makes people attracted to her subconsciously. Zor is unsure why, but people flock to her to tell her their problems, at which she simply listens and comforts them but usually doesn’t know how to solve them. She has a huge amount of empathy for people and genuinely feels pain and happiness for others.

Under that happy exterior, though, Zor is a deep ocean of emotions. Having had a bad family life, she was brought up to feel guilt for wanting things for herself, and taught to think next to nothing of her own abilities. She pushes aside all of her own needs to grant the needs of others, no matter the cost. Zor acts confident at times, but again it’s mostly all a facade that covers her cripplingly low self-esteem. There are some days when she’s angry at the world and wants nothing but to just cry; this happens at least once a month and sometimes more. However, she only opens her true self to the ones she completely trusts, and through that bond her calmer, more level-headed nature comes out, and she’ll actually tell the truth about what she thinks and not sugar-coat it.

She’s actually very smart in a lot of ways, though her ‘blonde and bubbly’ personality can make that seem unlikely. Zorayda is also extremely creative and artistic; she can paint things from memory and she has no problem with visual puzzles.

Zorayda is extremely sensitive to others’ reaction to her. She doesn’t understand when people don’t like her and she takes insults to heart. Compliments make her feel nice temporarily but don’t seem to throw sticky darts in her heart like insults do.
Backstory: Zor met Jinzo in the third grade, and followed him into middle school. Her birthday falls in September, so she was always a bit older than Jinzo (something she liked to tease him for). Jinzo was a strange child who sometimes said dark things, but as a child being raised in an abusive household, Zorayda understood that darkness. She made it a point to speak to him and try and empathize with him, hating to see anyone be so miserable alone. Her empathetic heart reached out to him, and though her intention was only to cheer him up at first, she quickly began to consider him a real friend. As they grew older, she worried for his sanity when his second personality appeared. Zor knew nothing of this other side of Jinzo, but knew that the things he did or said weren't anything like the person she'd grown up with. After the accident, Zor visited as often as her controlling mother would allow and would even sneak out some days under the ruse of extracurricular activities.
