The Newhill Sewage Treatment Plant overloads your senses with thick, unwelcoming stench. As you begin to head up through the facility, you can almost taste the assortment of dense, swirling filth as it taints the air and seems to float around you. You keep your beak tightly sealed as you stroll through, understanding that while most of the actual treated matter gets processed outside, the inside still reeks far worse than you were hoping. You just know that as soon as you find whatever lies in wait for you here, you're going to head straight for a shower...and maybe t̰̬̹̝̹͓ake a second one. Maybe a third. The stench begins to make you think that this is not worth the trouble. Something within you makes you press on, though, and as you continue through the floors of the building which you assume is used for the more administrative side of things, you start to feel a p̗̖͈̳̰͇r҉̼̳̦̦̝e̬̠sę̘̰̬n͖̲̟͞ce. The presenc̵̙̥̞͖̩̖̬e͖̮̦̺͖̫ is strong but you know that whenever you come face-to-face with whatever is threatening your mental health, you'll be able to withstand it. However, it does not stop your legs from shaking or your feathers from quaking.

On the eighth floor, the sounds of machinery begin to morph into whispers of promises and threats. Some of them are clearly spoken while others are distorted, d̬̻̟̺̮͓͖́r̥͕̺̫̪į͎̹̰l̛li̛̹̰̗ng into your skull. Nothing feels okay; nothing feels real; nothing feels s͍̖ͯ̇͞a̸̖̥̘͛ͥn̷̛̞͎̻̻̭̲̯̜̈́e͎͆͊́ͬ̍͗̂. The world around you has descended into a pink mess; it is the only colour you can discern as you rotate your head around, trying to find an escape. It is trying to take hold of you, but you sneer, growl and pull away, accidentally charging into a door and knocking it down. Suddenly the pink seems to settle and starts to fade, and your vision returns to normal. The stench of the plant wafts straight into your nostrils again, and you are dragged to the present. You turn your head, but no traces of whatever attacked you are present. You decide to put this quietly behind you and get to your feet, noting that you have come to an extremely large room with a series of intertwining catwalks hanging high above the floor storeys down. You start along the catwalk you fell onto when something down below catches your eye. It looks like a shredded leaf of paper underneath a piece of machinery currently not in use.

You take aim and fall from the catwalk, spreading your feathered wings and landing beside the shreds of paper. After affirming that this note has traces of Stalker energy associated with it, you take a minute to collect all the pieces before heading back up to the catwalk.

Object =Torn Note 2/2= was added to the Team Records.

You scour the two levels above you but conclude that these torn pieces are the only important things you will find in this area. Keeping this in mind, you head back to base to try to reassemble the paper.

"No, no, darling, we're not open yet. Come back at five," she explains gently, approaching you in an effort to usher you out. However, you stop her, explaining why you are here and who you are.

At first the Nidoqueen seems mildly confused at your explanation, but as you begin to tell her about the Stalkers and the horrors they have brought along with them, and that there is nobody else who can help but you and your fellow Emissaries, she begins to understand. Her expression morphs into one of understanding and sympathy, creases in her brow cluing you in to the fact that she clearly feels pain for those who have suffered as a result of the Stalkers and their horrific evils. After you have finished explaining, you add that you are seeking out kind-hearted and helpful Pokémon to provide you with any information that they might deem useful.

"Oh, yes...something strange did happen to fall into my possession, young one," she beings, "but I'm afraid I don't have it with me right now." She pauses as she displays her disappointment. "My daughter's boyfriend is a gardener for the police chief, and you might have heard, but...the maid who also worked there was one of the recent Stalker victims. Just tragic... He was heartbroken for the maid's daughter. If I can help you in any way, please just say the word. I want those disgusting creatures banished as much as you do."

"Bonnie!" a voice shouts, drawing the Nidoqueen's attention. She glances back to you.

"I must resume my duties, but thank you so much for stopping by, darling," she says, giving you a quick smile filled with warmth and traces of sadness before she races back into the restaurant's kitchen.

Bonnie the Nidoqueen is now Compliant.

    {Interview (Mission): 16. Lephley the Tropius}
You know that you will find Lephley at Brookheights Kindergarten, so you head straight there, determined to help her with whatever she seems to be having an issue with. You inform administration that you are here and they let you know that you can head to her classroom and ask her to speak with you, so you do just that, knocking on the door with your metal-like arm in the middle of the children's silent reading session. The elderly Tropius approaches the door, which you note is unusually tall, and opens to to query who you are and why you are here. After you tell her who you are, she explains that she needed to speak to someone about something important. She determines that the children will be fine in the room by themselves if she waits just outside the door, and exits the classroom to do so.

"There was a student in my kinder class last year, Wanaloo. His father is the Sudowoodo who was attacked by a Stalker," she begins, looking as if she's treading lightly. "He's in school now, but I still see him around when I'm on yard duty. He still comes up to me and has a chat or shows me something he brought with him to school. But since the incident with his father occurred, I have noticed a change in his behaviour, and whenever I can, I have been keeping a particularly close eye on him. He has gotten considerably quieter, and although I am aware of the recent turnaround his father has made in his recovery, he is still in danger and too weak to return home in his condition. Wanaloo is a lovely little boy and I couldn't stand the thought of something happening to him, whether it was indirectly or..." She cuts herself off, clearly not wanting to admit that children falling victims to Stalkers was every bit as possible as adults. She shakes her head, trying to expel the thought.

"The point is, I can no longer watch over him as I am not his teacher. I must ask a favour of you. Please go to Today's Wellness Shopping Center and get Wanaloo a hands-free computer. It's a communication device designed for Pokémon without arms. If he carries it around with him, I'll feel much more at peace knowing that he can contact me if he's ever in trouble." She gives you a wrinkled smile. "If there is ever something I can do for the child, I will. I may be old, but I am still every bit as tough as a young Timburr. I would go and get one myself to give to him, but I don't know that Mahyen would be comfortable knowing that his old teacher still worries about him. If you gave it to him discreetly, it would be much appreciated. I certainly wouldn't want Mahyen confiscating it if she doesn't trust me or if she feels embarrassed that a teacher is going out of her way to help her son."

She angles her head around to peer in through the classroom window to check on the children, then returns back to you. "If he is ever in danger or targeted because of his father, I want to know, and if possible, be there to defend him. His safety inside and outside the school grounds is extremely important. I can't offer you anything in return except an old Lum Berry I keep in my desk for an emergency. It will cure any ailments even if it is a little wrinkled."

MISSION OPENED: Obtain a hands-free computer to give to Wanaloo.
    Reward: x1 Lum Berry

"Anyway, I must be heading back. There is no need to return to me after you obtain the device and give it to Wanaloo. I've already asked you to run around enough," she smiles, bidding you farewell and heading back into the kindergarten room.

You enter the Macanan Textile Manufacturing building in broad daylight, making a note to keep yourself entirely hidden in the event that an employee sees you and questions your appearance there. You slink through the floors to get to the one you're aiming for, trying to use the key to guide you in the correct direction.

As you exit the stairwell through floor 17's door, you a shocked to find that the entire floor is out of bounds. Yellow police tape can be seen everywhere, as well as several signs and warnings. You disregard them and head through the floor, noting that everything looks as if it has been untouched for weeks. It disturbs you that you can sense a Stalker essence here, as if this could have been a murder site. However, there's another feeling amongst the evil aura, and as you focus on it, you begin to feel it welling up inside you. At first you are afraid, but the sensation begins to feel comforting, as if there is a soothing entity nearby. Intrigued by this, you head on through the rest of the floor while following your senses.

Your search leads you to a locked storage room which you instantly know the key is used to open. Its placement here on this particular floor almost feels too coincidental considering this entire floor has been sealed off, and it feels like this room holds something important. Wasting no further time, you stick the key in and turn it, and although you hear a click, the door doesn't budge. You frown, trying again and then a third time to open it up. It's then that you glance to your right and see that beside the door lies a type conductor. You roll your eyes, remembering that you found one exactly like it a few storeys up, and resign to the fact that this door will not open unless a Rock type lends their power.

Object {Locked Storage Room: Key Slot, +Rock Type+} was added to the Team Records.

Knowing there's nothing more you can do right now, you decide to take the key out and leave. However, when you try to do so, the key appears to be suck fast. No matter what you do, the key does not release its hold and you are forced to leave it behind.

Item [Macanan Textiles Storeroom Key] was removed from the Team Inventory.

You hope that it's safe there on its own, but figure that since the entire floor is sealed off, there's little to no chance it'll be even seen before one of the other Emissaries comes back to finish the job and unlock the door.

On the ninth floor of the Brookheights building, you find the apartment that Mahyen told the Emissaries about: the Sapling Family House. You use your key on it despite expecting somebody to be home, but as you hear the lock click and you head inside, you note that there is nobody around. The furniture looks like it hasn't been sat on for a few days, and there are crusted dishes still in the sink. You can see a scatter of pamphlets for several restaurants lying on the kitchen table, and with a small frown you note that the floor seems rather dirty. You realise that the house is inhabited by Rock types, but you believe that this unclean environment is more the result of a depressed mate than of someone who lives in a dirty house by desire.

Uru's laptop is resting in the living room upon the table, plugged in to power. The blinking light tells you that the computer is still on, so you flip up the lid and immediately see a picture of Uru and Wanaloo in the park. You can't help but smile, but then you focus on the task at hand and begin entering various passwords. When that doesn't work, you attempt to search the house for any place that he could have stored a password. At first you find nothing, but after little more than five minutes of searching, you find a sticky note behind the couch with a long code on it. You don't know what it means but decide to enter it into the laptop, and the cursor loads before it logs in. You are surprised to find that it worked, and wondered if the sticky note was intended for Mahyen but got knocked behind the couch and out of sight not long before Uru was attacked. You start searching on the laptop for anything he's written, although you have been told that most of his research was deleted or destroyed by Extol except the pieces he stored in the two boxes around the city. Still, even if not direct research, you hope you can find something useful.

You spend almost an hour trying to restore deleted or lost data, then you start combing through files in search of anything useful. It proves to be a tedious task, and annoyingly the only traces you could find were vague locations of things that Uru believed related to Extol, the Stalker he was collecting research on. It seemed as if once he thought the Stalker had become aware of his actions, he deleted many things that could possibly incriminate him in case the Stalker ever got its hands on the laptop. His efforts were clearly in vain, considering he was targeted and almost killed, and it only made your task more difficult. Despite the obstacles, you manage to note down some presumably relevant locations:

    • Inside Vale House Project
    • Balek Manufacturing Plant
    • Titancross Manufacturing
    • Platinum Skyscraper, floor 77
    • Silvercoal Medical, Oncology

These five locations stuck out to you, and although there was nothing more, you figured that this is a good list of locations to go off.

You quickly check the other parts of the house in case you missed anything, when you come across a trapdoor underneath a rug in Wanaloo's bedroom. You are curious about it, but just as you go to open it, you note that it has two panels, each asking for a passcode. You try to search for each one like you did for the laptop but simply find nothing, and figure that you're going to have to discover the passwords some other way. Whatever is in the trapdoor must be important, you figure, and you almost wonder if Uru stored the passcodes within the boxes he hid around the city.

Object {Secret Trapdoor: SE34 Codeword, SE35 Codeword} was added to the Team Records.

You head out of the Sapling house for now, locking the door on your way out. You imagine that someone will come back here to check the trapdoor once both passcodes are obtained. At least now, you think, Mahyen will be able to access the laptop.

Search (22) The Diadem Building (22a) Floors 1-10 (Mayton Foods)
You head inside the large corporate office building and begin your search with the first ten floors, which belong to a corporation called Mayton Foods. From what you learn early on, this corporation handles many supermarket chains throughout the world and are also a major distributor.

The offices are in relatively good shape, even though a lot of the employees seem to be missing. It looks like things have been quiet lately, but you don't see anything suspicious or out of the ordinary when taking a look around the manager and director offices and where the rows of cubicles are.

Still, besides the lack of employees, there really doesn't seem to be anything that seems to point toward the Stalkers. It seems at least this area hasn't received their dark attention at the moment, though it hasn't helped when it comes to employees fleeing or wanting to work from home.

When you get the eight floor, you notice this particular floor is very empty and the lights have been turned off. It seems like this particular area should have been used, but almost no one seems to be around. You do, however, come across a table near a row of cubes and it seems like a strange root is on it. You take a closer look and it seems to be radiating a kind of potent energy. You decide to take it with you, as it would probably go bad before anyone else comes up here to find it.

Item [Energy Root] has been added to the Team Inventory.

You head up to check the ninth and the tenth floor, but the story seems to be pretty much the same. For some Pokémon, work seems to be an escape from the fear and is their only means to keep a livelihood going, while for others, it seems fear has gotten the best of them.

But, considering it's on the seven floor, you'd rather not use seven flights of stairs...

When you find Maknon, he seems to be quite depressed even though he usually seems like a Pokémon that stays optimistic. However, when you approach him, he seems to have his spirits lifted. Almost immediately, the small panda Pokémon looks up to you with a sense of hope.

"Oh, finally!" Maknon tells you with a sense of elation. "I was really starting to give up hope anyone would ever help."

He takes a deep breath. It seems a lot of thoughts have been swimming around his head lately, but he knows how important this matter is.

"To make a long story short, I live with my brother Nykal on the 7th floor of the Brook Heights Building," Maknon begins. "Or... I used to. Nykal has been missing for the past week and I have no idea what happened to him. And with these Stalkers going around, I'm seriously worried sick. I'm sincerely hoping to see him walk through the door rather than the cops with some bad news."

MISSION OPENED: Find Maknon's brother Nykal!

"Listen, I know you guys are busy hunting down the Stalkers," Maknon tells you, understanding things from your point of view despite his wishes. "Still, it would mean everything to me if you found Nykal safe and sound. I don't know what I'd do without him and in a dark time like this, I really could use his help just trying to get from day to day."

You ask for some clues about what might have happened to Nykal, and Maknon nods.

"Well, about a week ago, he left to go to work," Maknon tells you, trying his best to recall the details. "The hovercar we have is kind of shabby, but it's better than nothing. Now, I'm not sure what happened, but I got a call from his office. He works at the power plant, but the day he went missing, I got a phone call from his boss asking where he was, and I told him I didn't know. He told me he usually uses the hangar to park, but I don't know what happened between then and him starting his shift at the plant."

"Unfortunately, the police have their hands so full right now," Maknon sighs. "Please, if you can keep a look out for him, it would mean the world to me."

Despite the west side of Silvercoal City being a dirty, abandoned mess, this sizable factory that specializes in the production of glass for all kinds of varying purposes seems to be doing quite well. From a first glance of the exterior, the building is also well-maintained save for a few dirty blemishes here and there that aren't anything major. Considering what the rest of the industrial neighborhood looks like, it's a white rose in the middle of a field of ashes.

You decide to head into the building and search the highest floors. Inside, the production lines and rooms are actually quite clean even though the areas around the building are in such stark contract in comparison. The rooms are made of clean, white tile, white-painted walls, and the metal machines and equipment are in good condition and are well-maintained.

Regardless, you find that here, despite the Stalkers and what they've been doing, honest and effective work is being done throughout the day. Large sheets of glass are being created, cut to size, and carefully prepared for shipment. It gives you a sense of security and for a moment, it allows you to forget about the Stalkers for a moment. It makes you wonder if that's what helps the factory workers here also.

As you search through the lines, you find one factory line overseer station and at first, it doesn't seem like anything about it stands out. However, about a second feeling, you get the sense that there is still something here that doesn't belong. In fact, you end up playing a game of hot and cold when searching through it, because it feels like some of the dark essence of the Stalkers still persists here even though it's definitely not that obvious at all and only exists as a very small trace amount. If you weren't an Emissary, you wouldn't even sense it at all. And you're quite convinced the Pokémon that work here don't even suspect a thing.

After searching deeply into this overseer station among the notebooks. ledgers, equipment pieces, and a factory line computer, you trace the dark radiation from the key rack, which you then sense it coming from one key in particular. You side it off the rack and see three letters written on the base of the key. C, P, and Y. It's quite clear the other Pokémon that work here don't know the purpose of the key, but you have a very strong feeling it doesn't belong here and isn't for anything within this facility. You decide to take it with you.

Item [CPY Key] has been added to the Team Inventory.

Once you finish searching the rest of the area, you don't find anything else that stands out, but you are a bit comforted about the state of the building. Despite what goes on, places like these still work on and it gives you a sense of hope and stability.
