I guess I'll just Restrain Orin again... what a waste of resources.

IF somebody else comes to take over, THEN

I will instead have a Lesson Interview with Eclipse the Houndour, to teach me how to Escort/Protect. Upon learning the skill, and in order to practice, I will Protect Marisha the Flaaffy.
You seek out Eclipse, and you find him at the Valley Wellness Centre during one of his breaks. Activity at the centre seems quiet tonight, and just your luck, it seems Eclipse is bored. You take the opportunity to introduce yourself and express your interest in learning the ways of Escorting and Protecting.

"Sounds good to me," he smirks, relieved that his cure for boredom came along.

He starts you off with the basics, going into how to get a Pokémon to cooperate and understand your intentions. A lot of it comes down to building trust and assurance. For the Escort component of the teaching, having the Pokémon you need aid from understand what you intend to do with them and how you can't do it alone makes up a great portion of it. You learn that Eclipse has been using this influence for a while, but now that the threat of the Stalkers is weighing down on the civilians here, having them understand that their efforts will lead to lives saved makes it that much easier to accomplish this task.

For the Protect portion of the teaching, Eclipse clues you in that this is quite frankly the easier part of the training and that very few Pokémon would turn down free bodyguard service. But he tells you want to do about Pokémon that are nitpicky about privacy. The more challenging part is the vigilance that is needed to keep that Pokémon safe. When you tell Eclipse this is going to be for protecting Pokémon from Stalkers, he can't even imagine what that would entail if a Pokémon were to be attacked like that, but a lot of it comes down to situational and environmental awareness. To be aware of not just unusual sights, but unusual sounds, smells, and feelings.

Truly the Clauncher has learned Escort/Protect!

"Always happy to help," Eclipse grins. "You sound like you got this down packed, so now's your shot to put what I've told you to good use."

You nod in agreement, heading back out to Salvage Keep to track down Marisha. After some research, you discover her address is in the Rusty Shine Units, unit 16 to be exact. With the middle of the night swiftly approaching, you know you don't have too much time and a Stalker attack could be very imminent.

When you arrive at her rickety apartment door, you knock on it with your pincer, and after a few moments, the door opens and the pink fluffy sheep stands before you in the doorway, blinking twice and looking at you curiously.

"Uh, hey there," she greets you awkwardly as her head tilts to the side, not sure why you've come. "You uh, need something?"

You tell her that it's been recently observed that Stalkers have been striking innocent Pokémon at night, and you want to keep her safe, suspecting she may be a possible target tonight. She looks at you a bit surprised, but shrugs and decided to go along with it.

"For free, no less?" she asks, quite surprised at the proposition. "Well, okay. I mean, I'm just going to be sleeping tonight, but hey, make yourself at home. Well, provided you don't make a mess, right? Yeah, okay."

She then shrugs and then goes back to bed while you enter her apartment and close the door behind you. You see she's actually done a fairly decent job keeping her apartment in working order, though you have the feeling her skills at repair had a part in that.

Nonetheless, you pull up a wooden chair and as Marisha sleeps soundly, you keep a watchful eye and observe carefully in the shadows. Your concentration is on the old door and the single window at all times, and with you vigilant, nothing is going to come in without you knowing about it and intercepting the threat immediately.

    24. Marisha the Flaaffy will be Protected from all threats for the Day 5: Night Cycle.

Bowing, he says with a sly smile, "The darkness purged, the tower checked and cleared by yours truly... Tell Timpani and the other residents they can return." He then walks out and takes in the proper view of the city as he speaks with Vex about new developments in the hunt for their foes, omitting the whole "Oh hey Orin nice of you to turn yourself in" thing. At the end, he starts to walk out, but he stops suddenly as he's walking away, turns to the Deduceye, and takes off his invisible hat, pulling out of it one of the two necklaces he made only hours ago. In the moonlight, the gemstone glistens brightly, as the stone did in sun. "I'm not commonly the kind to be so sentimental, but... When I first laid eyes on you, I knew I wished to be by your side. Please, take this. It holds no commitment for either of us, but... goodness, I'm tongue tied." He stood with the necklace in his hand, looking slightly embarrassed.

TL;DR: the top bold part, then a whole bunch of flavor text. I hereby claim Vex as the next season's player character for me.
    Interview Rapport: COMPLIANT

You show up to pay Vex another visit, and as expected, you find her on the roof, looking over Salvage Keep from atop Trinket Tower. You announce your arrival, although it seems the Decidueye was already expecting you, and she gives you a smug grin.

"The darkness purged," you tell her with a bow, "the tower checked and cleared by yours truly... Tell Timpani and the other residents they can return."

"Now you've got it," she smirks. "Good hunting, Nicklefool. You've done what a lot of other Pokémon couldn't do. As for Timpani, I'm sure she's going to be thrilled if she doesn't already know."

She looks back toward Salvage Keep as you offer her a necklace that you made. "I'm not commonly the kind to be so sentimental," you tell her, "but... When I first laid eyes on you, I knew I wished to be by your side. Please, take this. It holds no commitment for either of us, but... goodness, I'm tongue tied."

"You made that!?" she asks, quite surprised. "Color me impressed, that's some fine handiwork you got there. I didn't know you had talent in jewelry."

She takes it fondly and happily strings it around her neck and wears it fondly. You can tell she looks a bit happier wearing it and she pats you on the back with her wing.

"You're quite a charmer," she smiles at you. "Thanks for this, I love trinkets like these. Ah yes, that reminds me. I owe you some of these."

She reaches into a hidden pouch strung around her side and pulls out a handful of splinters for you. She then offers them and you take them.

$50SP$ was added to Nicklefool's Inventory.

"As much as I'd love to say hey, let's eat, drink, and be merry, well, there's still work out there to do," she tells you, now looking down upon Salvage Keep. "You see, Trinket Tower was only a start. A great start and it goes to show what can be accomplished in the battle against these wretched Stalkers. But let's not get lax and start slacking off. The rest of this place still needs to be cleaned out and those Stalkers need to be hunted down."

"Actually..." she tells you as her eyes affix in another direction, "Rusty Shine. While I and plenty of other Pokémon here call Trinket Tower home and we're relieved you and your friends flushed the evil out, Rusty Shine is home to many others, and that place still has something dark lurking around it. And while I've tried to pinpoint the source of it, I haven't made much progress. Maybe you or your friends will be able to find something I can't."

"In the meantime, I'll still be here," she tells you with a smile. "Come on by whenever you'd like. I'll let you know if I find out anything else, but for now, Rusty Shine seems like a place that could use your help."

She then looks back upon Salvage Keep and watches closely as the night clouds pass on by.

    Lillian didn't sleep well.
Restless dreams of ominous cold chills reaching out to tie her down and strip off all her bunny skin. Horrible things.

In the morning, another death. She sighs, still not ready to face the body. She has a quick chat to Clauncher and Lita, organising them to work together, then scoops up $150$SP and the remaining enigma berry from the team inventory. She rolls her shoulders and stands up straight.
Right, it's time to get to work.

Lillian will consume the enigma berry.

First things first, following up on the death of Vye. She heads over to wherever Holly the Lycanroc is, and challenges her to a "friendly" battle. ....
    Spoiler:

"You're in the mercenary guild, right? And you knew Vye. I'm sure you'll honor his terms- if I beat you, you let Vyes captive go." Lillian demands, and then dumps $150$SP at Holly's feet.
"And, I wager this much that I'll beat you."
She takes a fighting stance, obsidian dagger in her paw and ears out like boxing gloves.
"If you want to talk do it with your claws first, and use your mouth after we settle this."

... except Holly isnt around in the daytime!!

Confused and frustrated, Lillian ends up at the training ground where Bixas is most likely hanging out. Still armed and berried up for battle, she wanders up to him.
"Meela Tey fought well, but now she's been killed. Let's sort out this petty contest of strength before anyone else dies." Lillian says, voice hard but eyes teary. "If I lose, take these $150$SP. I wager I won't lose."

Lillian will challenge Bixas to a friendly battle, in memoriam to Meela-Tey.

As the sun rises, you head south, away from the more active areas of Salvage Keep. It seems strange to you, but it seems things have gotten colder and you notice the sun doesn't seem to be shining quite as brightly as it usually does. A chilling wind blows through the landscape, raking across your black fur and batters your ears and tail a bit. At times, you think you hear whispers in the wind, like fragments of a warning.

Upon arriving at Murky Pond, you notice a lot of the runoff from the junk piles seeps into here, and as a result, the water is filthy and you definitely wouldn't want to drink out of it. There's plenty of litter and what appears to be a greasy film covers the surface of the water. In fact, never mind drinking this water, you wouldn't even want to go swimming in it.

There doesn't seem to be much growing here either, and while you wonder if there might be something hidden or lurking in the water itself, you try to use your insight and senses to detect if anything like a nefarious Stalker presence resides within it. Thankfully, nothing of the sort seems to be there.

As you circle around the pond, you find the small monument for Shilamora, though it doesn't seem like anyone has been trying to keep it clean. As a result, the years of neglect have coated it with a greasy, black film that you don't want to touch either.

You get close toward the end, starting to wonder if there's just nothing of value to find here, but then something starts to feel unsettling as you see a stone slab in the distance. It seems like it was put here recently, which doesn't coincide with the murky state of everything else in this area.

When you approach and turn around the other side, it seems a carving is here, and it's an unsettling depiction of several Pokémon, notably an Eevee, a Piplup, a Growlithe, and a handful of others, suddenly flushed with a complete look of dread upon them. Shadows seem to creep and surround them, and it immediately reminds you of the nefarious shadows that gather around the Corruption's Eyes.

But there seem to be missing pieces of this macabre carving. You put your paw on it, and you feel an indentation where a crown-shaped object is supposed to fit into this. On the otherwise, a forked, branch-like attachment seemed to have been ripped out.

There also seems to be a strange, grease-like trail forming a some kind of bizarre trail around the carving, forming some kind of shape. You can't see it in its entirety, but you think it might be trying to form an insignia or infernal sigil. Using your heightened sense of smell, the scent hints that it's some sort of flammable liquid or oil. You imagine a fire type Pokémon might be able to spark and ignite this substance to burn whatever symbol this is supposed to be forming.

You follow this scented trail to the bottom of the ground, and there you see something unsettling craved into the stone:

Like a leaf blown away by the breeze. Like a branch washed downstream. Like smoke taken by the wind. I, too, will be swept away and forgotten.

{Carving of Trepidation: Crown Indent, Branch Indent, +Fire-type+} has been noted in the Team Records.

You can't figure out what it's all supposed to mean, but you decide to leave it alone for now, not having the necessary components that seem to be missing from it. But as you walk away, something still feels eerie about it. You can't help but take a passing glance back at it as you walk away back toward base.
