    Crossroads Comics #83-Poetic Conclusions

It’s Tuesday which means it’s time for Crossroads Comics!

This week we’ll be talking about Metaphorical HER. This comic reached its conclusion its week but is well worth binging it like I did a few weeks ago. The comic follows the story of a poet named Laney who makes the mistake of ticking off one of the most powerful people in the poetry world. This results in Laney being blacklisted from all the reading locations around town. But, just when things seem hopeless, a drunk poetry reading at a bar makes Laney an instant hit.
Metaphorical HER follows Laney as well as several other people impacted by her life and actions navigating Laney’s fall and then slow rise as a poet. The comic’s story is very interest, but its strong suit is actually its visuals and depiction of character interactions. The comic uses imagery to depict Laney’s poetry, transforming her into different people or abstract concepts to visualize the impact poetry can have on an audience. But this imagery extends beyond the poetry, often being seen during character interactions through the use of portraying people as angels or depicting discussions as earthquakes that tear apart the settings around them. The character interactions are already beautifully done and very realistic, but depicting these interactions and the creative process as a whole in this manner really sells this comic as a worthwhile read. It’ll leave you begging for more once you reach its end.
We’re also welcoming two new comics to the Crossroads Comics category below: Super Minion Bros and Eldritchfell. Their authors, Nashew and LKWayvern, are residents here on PXR but unlike the other comics typically included in this category, their comics aren’t Pokémon focused! So if you like Super Mario or Undertale, be sure to check these two comics out!
