If Ms. is short for Miss, and Mr. is short for Mister, what's the long version of Mrs?

"Mister's". Mrs used to be spelled Mr's.

I've always been told that Ms. can be indicative that you've been married before. Or that you're old and can't be seen running around as a 'miss' anymore. xD

Here it usually means "I don't know what your marital status is so here's me being polite."
