Yep, we go nuts for football in the states. Compared to some other people, I'm very mild fan. I don't really start paying attention until the playoffs happen.

That's still better than me, I don't pay attention at all. xP When I was visiting the States, though, I did happen to go to a couple of games and actually got really into it. xD It's a totally different vibe than it is here. Kinda makes it fun!

Yeah, once you know how the whole game works and what stuff like "3rd down and ten" means, it's easier to get into it. I'll admit, as a kid, I had no idea what any of that stuff meant so nothing ever made sense to me. XD

I can remember becoming so confused as a child because there's more than one type of "first down" in a sense.

When i was a kid, i always wondered why they didn't go for it on 4th down, or why they didn't go for the 2 point conversion.

Right? There were several times during the national championships that Clemson was 4th and 1 or 4th and 3 and I was like "Guys it's not that far just jump".

Well, simply because if they don't pull it off and get the yards they need (which is very often the case considering a quarterback could get sacked or you have an incomplete pass), the opposing team will have a much closer head start toward the end zone simply because the ball never got punted to set them back 40 or so yards.

So yeah, I can understand why they usually don't want to risk it simply to provide breathing room for the team's defense. If it's down to the wire and there's simply no time left anyway and you need extra points because nothing else is enough as a do or die situation, then have at it on 4th down and hope for the best.
