I was thinking about this. When it comes to your personality irl or in voice and your personality on the internet or when you're typing, how does it differ?
As for me, I'm much more sarcastic via text because I have time to think about it. I'm also a little more crazy online unless I'm drunk irl or just in one of those moods. I tend to be more calm and quiet, but I'd say that my online personality isn't TOO different from irl nowadays.
I guess that's pretty typical, but I'd love to see everyone else's self assessments! Some people are really different, while some people don't change much at all.
When you can hide behind an avatar and text, it's not difficult to act more boldly. If we are present in our voice or own image, we tend to be more self-conscious as it's easier to disassociate yourself with text you typed up on the screen than it is when any personal part of you is being put on display, so to speak.
One thing that carries over from how I behave in person is expressiveness. There's a reason I don't like to go without emoticons; it's because I'm a super expressive person. Chances are, if you see an "xD" or a variation of lol at the end of a sentence it's because I'm chuckling or giggling. I do that a lot. Like, if I were to SPEAK that sentence then I would be giggling at some point.
