I don't usually do much preparing, i just stay away from windows and go about my day.

The most we're at risk for here is a bushfire, but even then, it doesn't happen where I live. It does happen about forty-five minutes out, but never here. I don't think we've ever had floods or terrible storms or anything. I mean, sure, sometimes tree branches fall off, but that's rare, and it's rarer that it damages someone's house or car or fence or anything.
--keep an eye on the weather radar
--listen on radio for watches/warning
--for thunderstorm warning--save more often
--in case of tornado warning, head for hallway/tornado shelter
Everyone has a dream that fills their heart. A journey they must take. A destiny to fulfill. As close as your imagination exists a magical place, where wondrous creatures with incredible powers help make dreams come true. It's the world of Pokemon!!"
Our basement floods all the time when it comes to storms and heavy rain. If we know a big storm is coming, we line the edge of the basement wall with newspaper and towels. We also have a water sensor that will make a really loud beeping sound if water touches it. If that goes off, we know we need to start whipping out the dry-vac to soak up the water.
Not fun, but I've seen MUCH worse. I really can't complain.
I do absolutely nothing to prepare for storms. That said, a big storm in the central valley of California is just a rainstorm, really.
I figure out where my umbrella is located, during the winter.
Sometimes the basement floods, and all my music studio equipment is down there, so we get the electronic stuff off the floor. Otherwise, we don't really do anything.
