I don't know. Starting with 4th gen and on some other sites, it was very stressful. It's just hard times and desperate times calls for desperate measures. I heard of someone saying on the Mario Kart Wii forums in order to get the Speedy 7 award you had to get Mario Kart 7 by a certain date, and already I saw pictures of someone trying to cheat the system. They alter the date to make it earlier to make it appear that they got the game the soonest possible. But on youtube, you can't trick anything because it is thereby saved on a server so it'll use whatever date the Gregorian calendar is at. But I don't know. I've never done it before. There was an admin on another site six years ago at the start of Diamond and Pearl not allowing Darkrai, Shaymin, or Arceus as those Pokémon were forbidden to trade with or ask for on the serebii Wifi chat, and they were not available until Platinum which wasn't out six years ago, and if they obtained them in the 2007 Diamond and Pearl game, then they obtained them by Action Replay, making them illegal, and the Azure Flute, and the Oak's Letter, plus something you need to get to obtain Darkrai, but also appears hacked.

I don't know about 5th gen, but there was always a message on top of the serebii wifi chat asking what not to trade for. They took so long to happen, and then in 4th gen in 2010, Arceus finally had the event. I think that that was tedious and anyone could've had those events sooner.

That doesn't happen: I've restarted one game once with the Victini event underway, and I still got the Liberty ticket and all that jazz all over again, even though I did it before. Just in case, I'd delete all the Wonder Cards, as you really can't get two of those, and I'm not sure if those aren't affected by deletes. Pretty sure they are, too, but always double check. You can get multiple events if you start over repetitively, in theory. Of course, the event time itself does not work according to the clock on the system, so the only limit is the real-world end date of the events themselves, but other than that, you're free to repetitively collect the same Pokemon over and over and over again to your hearts content...

...But really, who does that? :P That's just cheap, personally. Two-three times for those, tops.

So you mean once you got it on your system, you could do it even after the deadline and pretend you just got it? Dates matter very much, but yes and no, to a way that they are concise and precise to the way your system was set. If I set my system to some weird year, caught a Pokémon, and then saved it, I'd feel like an idiot.

The real world date is when the event ENDS and when you can no longer get the event Pokemon. You can restart the system multiple times while the event is underway and still get the Pokemon, but the DS'es internal clock has no relationship to the distribution of the event itself: You can set the year to 4013 and it will still act like it's today, and it will end on the real world appointed date, not the DS's.

Wow, that seems harsh and pretty unfair to other people. Well, I could think of alternative ways to resolve this, but I don't want to post them here. We could end this discussion about this and start one about something else. Things are starting to look a little sensitive. I am also time sensitive.

They set the times pretty wide these days. I'm not sure what's unfair about a very long time frame. That it would have no relationship to the DS clock is natural to keep people who like cheating out of their a**es from doing just that and repetitively grabbing (IE) the Torchic Mystery Gift Event from X and Y over and over again FAR after it's release, and that aside, how would THAT work? In order for the event to be related to the DS clock (due to the fact you could just set it into whatever time fits the event), it would have to go on indefinitely, which is probably at least somewhat taxing on resources in some manner (Maybe not, but even then, you've got better use of materials). It makes no sense from any standpoint.

...Anyways.
