To me, it looks like, seems like from everyone's reaction, and I know they kissed. From what I hear about her in that season with Ash. It's obvious it lead to a veiled "kiss" scene. Though why they couldn't just show it like everyone was waiting for....we will never know.
Ash is obviously a dunce and will remain single forever. XD I feel sorry for Serena.
