"Today was a terrible day because..."

My headphones are likely broken. One side no longer works. So, there's my one major method for dealing with stress outside my dorm sailing out the window.
But the thing that has me more upset, and actually pushed me into a meltdown, is potentially worse. One of my friends sent me a post with a bunch of websites with stuff that's meant to help with anxiety. The first one I clicked told me I needed to upgrade Flash. I clicked the link provided.
Instead of Flash, it downloaded some app called Booking, and a piece of spam called Playsearchnow, which immediately latched on to Safari. I then learned what, exactly, Playsearchnow is(not quite malware, but alters searches and spams you with ads that may crash the computer, even on safe websites). I then tried three methods to get rid of Playsearchnow, purged everything that could be connected to it that I could find, IT STILL TAKES ME TO THE PLAYSEARCHNOW HOMEPAGE AND NOT THE SAFARI ONE I'M USED TO
WHAT THE HELL AM I DOING WRONG
It hasn't crashed my computer or anything but I'm still having a freaking meltdown over this, I have NO IDEA what to door how to fix this or if I DID fix this and I'm just going crazy or something
I'm going to just try and see if the tech help on campus can be of any help, I don't know if they're open right now or not though, it's almost 8pm. But, as is usual near the end of or directly after a meltdown with me, I'm REALLY mentally drained and physically tired and the fact I may have to face tomorrow without music to calm me down while in crowded spaces is really making me DREAD tomorrow and just

I looked into this malicious little Booking thing and it's a virus for Macs. It's a little tricky as I haven't worked with Macs in a long while and I haven't ever had to deal with viruses for it, but this might work. If not, try this. I just don't know for sure but there's got to be a guide or something for killing it. I've had crap like this wiggle it's way into my machine but there are definitely ways of killing it.

As for the headphones, eh, that sucks. If they're too expensive to replace, maybe go with just a cheap option like earbuds for now until you have the money to get a replacement set. At least you'll have something in the meantime. But yeah, I've recently had a pair of good headphones die on me as well and they died pretty much the same way. The left side started getting static and then it just stopped playing anything altogether. I just use earbuds now and they do the job even if the audio quality is a tiny bit diminished.

Found out I failed a test. My mom hasn't responded to my text and it's been two hours. I'm sick with anxiety.

Went to tech support. They weren't allowed to do much, and told me the tecnicians who're there during the day can do more.
Tried both options. One was of no use whatsoever, the other I've already tried. Thanks for helping but it's really not helpful.

Yeah, I failed a few tests in college. I'm still alive and kicking. Yeah, this kind of thing happens sometimes, but don't let it bring you down. And even if your parents don't support you, you have people here who do, including me.

Sorry, I just haven't used Macs very much, so I just don't know what are the best tools to get rid of this stuff. When my computer gets hit with one of these stupid things, I usually just Google everything under the sun about whatever is causing the mess and throw everything at it.

If it's any consolation and makes you laugh, once I knew a guy online who programmed his own virus, but accidentally infected and toasted his own computer with it. I still find that hilarious. XD

Yeah I think my butt got saved by the fact that it was only worth 5% of my final grade.

Whew, yeah, that won't be influential very much at all, thankfully. But I've bombed entire classes and still graduated, so don't give up even when things seem a bit sour. You never truly lose until you quit.

LK, I've never used a Mac, so I can't help you. Sorry about that. :/ I really hope you will be able to get rid of Booking and to replace your headphones.

It actually turned out fine on my end. After some running around all over campus to various tech support people, someone managed to get it off.

Noble, I can understand your stress with exams. May what sleep you find be restful, and what questions you get produce less stress than you were anticipating.
