When you decide to use a item that still has a trap on it, the trap will hit you even if you have Security. The auto trap-disarm thing only works when you're Searching, not when you're using items with traps on them. Use Item and Use Perk are two separate actions and don't go in together even if you have Security.
Otherwise, a Security person could use a whole slew of trapped items at once and none of them matter (Security would be an extremely overpowered perk then). You would need to disarm each one individually and then use it if you don't want to take the hit.
So for example, let's say this is me:
Neo the Emolga (S: Flying/Electric)
Health: 4/4
Sanity: 4/4
Perk: Security | Learned Abilities: Escort/Protect, Rescue/Escape
Failed Assassinations: 0/2
And I want to bypass this:
{The Evil Crypt: Missing Sin Circle, Missing Malice Circle, Missing Anguish Circle}
And I have these:
[Sin Circle] #Infernal Presence# [Deals 2 Damage to Sanity]
[Malice Circle] #Infernal Presence# [Deals 2 Damage to Sanity]
[Anguish Circle] #Infernal Presence# [Deals 2 Damage to Sanity]
I wasn't the one who found these, so the traps on these were never auto-disarmed. However, if I try to do this:
"Use [Sin Circle], [Malice Circle], and [Anguish Circle] on {The Evil Crypt}."
I'm going to get nailed with 6 damage to Sanity (and I'd go right into Berserk mode) because I'm not using the perk on these trapped items, I'm just plain using them on the Crypt which is a completely different type of action. Now, if I wanted to avoid taking all that Sanity damage, I'd have to do this first:
TURN 1:
Use <Security> on [Sin Circle] #Infernal Presence# [Deals 2 Damage to Sanity] to disarm it."
TURN 2:
Use <Security> on [Malice Circle] #Infernal Presence# [Deals 2 Damage to Sanity] to disarm it."
TURN 3:
Use <Security> on [Anguish Circle] #Infernal Presence# [Deals 2 Damage to Sanity] to disarm it."
And then:
TURN 4:
"Use [Sin Circle], [Malice Circle], and [Anguish Circle] on {The Evil Crypt}."
That would be the only safe way of doing it. Otherwise it would be like using a Perk AND using items in the same action. If this part wasn't too clear in the rules, I'll rephrase it so it's more obvious.
